Dr. Alison Whitcomb is one of the few female professors in the field of chemistry in 1989, when she meets Ethan McDonald, a graduate student who is about to change her life forever. As she reminisces about her life from 1969-1989, Alison realizes a torrid affair gave her the greatest a new lease on life. The summer of '89 is a year she will never forget, when she finally rose from the ashes and seized the day as she never thought possible. Alison learns that sometimes, for a fleeting moment, a phoenix rises from the arms of another man.
Taking A Great Risk For Pleasure - This was an somewhat enjoyable story, with intense emotions and a prohibited romantic interlude. It was meant to be one night, but they just couldn’t let go. However, it all came to a head when they were left with no other option. This is the first book I have read from this author and I would encourage to give this book a try. If you’ve not read her work before, you may discover a new author’s work to enjoy.
It is marketed/listed as erotica… there is nothing mentioned beyond a kiss. It’s insinuated, but that’s it. It was a short story with the point being to grasp what you want in life and not say you “can’t”. An almost- tenured woman professor has an affair with a student in the summer of 1989 while her husband is away on active duty. I’m glad it was only 44 pages to read bc it’s the same kinda “you can do it” story you read all the time. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t good.
