Big Bad Bull

Rate this book
Sarah:
I've always been fascinated by the Sheriff of West Bend, Wyoming. A dark, dangerous giant of a man, a cousin to the legendary Bartlett Brothers. I moved here to start a new life after a tragedy without a man of any sort. Then he walked into my bakery and that was it. I knew I had to keep away from him or my resolve to stay alone was going to dissolve into dust.
Bull:
Yeah, that's my name. I'm six foot six and look like I might be able to throw a bull. What else would you call me? But underneath it all, I have my share of hurt that is taking its toll on me. When I see Sarah, I notice her but never really have time to look at her. That is, until one night I save her from an attack. As soon as I get my hands on her, I know. She's the one. She's my future. She's hiding something from me though and it's big enough that it could tear us apart. I'm not about to let that happen. And I'll use whatever it takes to keep her.

The couple: Bull and Sarah

Romance genre: insta-love
Series: Bartlett Brothers Ranch
Length: 47 pages

Plot: Sarah is recovering from an abusive relationship when one day she is accosted at her bakery. Bull, the local sheriff, comes to rescue her. He is the law, but he's also in love with Sarah, and now just has to convince her to give him a chance, despite her background.

Character development: Bull was so incredibly sweet. There isn't a lot of conflict in this story, except for Sarah, internally. She's had a lot to deal with, and the way that Bull dealt with her reveal made him a big hero in my book. The epilogue was perfect for wrapping up that storyline too.

A very quick read once I actually sat down and read it.

I don’t mind a quick read but this one was terrible. The whole point of this book is Sheriff Bull and Baler Sarah. Except the only time the baker portion of Sarah is referenced is at the very beginning when she gets attacked by a guy behind her Bakery.

Well guess who is running by but the hot Sheriff Bull, even though it’s 2 o’clock in the morning. Doesn’t have his gun on his late night/early morning run but for some reason has his handcuffs??? After apprehending the attacker, he sees Sarah curled up in fight or flight after attempt assault and just automatically knows domestic abuse history? Like couldn’t possibly be anything else?

“He won’t touch you again…Nobody but me will.”—sir were we not just discussing your magic ability to know she has a domestic abuse past? Now we are claiming her less than 10 min later? You admit it’s a bad idea to ask out the woman you just saved from getting attacked and when she is showing her being uncomfortable with said question you tell her “trust me darlin’ sooner or later you will”. Someone please call HR.

I love how the Sheriff has a southern drawl when he talks and then when he his thinking about Sarah, especially kissing Sarah, it’s “pull her flaming tresses out of their torturous prison” and “until I can plunder those soft lips”. So first he is a southern gentleman sheriff and now he’s a pirate sheriff??? Pick a vibe for your characters and stick to it I’m begging you.—Mind you while all of this is going on they are on the street outside the Sheriff’s office. The same day that she was attacked and was in a state of shock and worked a 16??? hr shift. All of a sudden they are heading to his house to horizontal tango (we all know it’s happening) and she starts using words like “needn’t” and once again the character’s accent/vibe is changing mid paragraph.

Before they even officially get together or have any real conversation together they are basically claiming forever with each other. Then the next morning after another tango, Bull immediately is talking about how he didn’t use protection but don’t worry because he’ll take care of Sarah and the baby???

Sarah’s past finally comes up and we find out her ex-husband was physically abusive and injured Sarah and caused her to loose her baby. Bull assured her he doesn’t need children and they horizontal tango again.

Epilogue comes around and they are adopting siblings who have a traumatic past that left them orphans. And they drive home happily ever after. Was the trauma bit from the kid’s past really necessary?

Minus the epilogue, I think this book spanned maybe a week’s time, which was only referenced after the slept together and before Sarah told Bull about the past abuse. I just want this to be noted that in 2 days they were claiming forever with each other, have a falling out, a week passes, and then they get back together…

The Sheriff and the baker

Bull saves Sarah from a drunk in the alley behind her bakery. She was struggling to get away from him. He saved her but she was in shock. He wrapped her in a blanket and kept his arms around her to make her feel safe.
He has always had feelings for her but never told her.
He knows from seeing her that there is more going on.
He offered to take her home. She wanted him as much he wanted her. They made love several times that night and morning.
He admitted to her he hadn't worn a condom and if she got pregnant he would take care of her and the baby. She froze and everything changed. He didn't know what he said wrong.
A week goes by and he hasn't heard from her. Delia, Stetson's wife, tells him to go to Sarah and talk to her. Both of them are miserable.
She tells him her story of her past with an abusive husband and how he changed her life forever.
Great love of a big, wonderful man with a big heart.

They ease each others nightmares

Bull and Sarah both have emotional baggage and past traumas that give them nightmares, but together they find a peace that is rare. Bull's easy acceptance of her past and their future stole my heart, he is a giant of a man, who can be domineering and demanding, but he can also be soothing and gentle and he seems to instinctively know which of these traits Sarah needs at any given time.
For me this is the best of the series, I loved it. I read it on Kindle Unlimited.

Short insta-love story.

A cute, quick insta-love story. It’s a good was to pass some time. It’s very short, but it has a full storyline with hotness mixed in. On of the better short stories I have read.

Bull

I just discovered Tamrin Banks and I must say, I'm so glad I did. This series is the first one of hers I've read and it had all I enjoy. An alpha, his love, a rescue and happily ever after.

Sarah has a sad past, but when she is rescued by the hunky Sheriff Bull, her HEA is close to hand. There is drama, healing and lots of heat between these engaging characters. I also liked Delia's previous from a previous book.

Big hearted bull!

I really enjoyed reading about Sarah and Bull. You couldn’t help being pulled in right from the start. Their fight to their HEA was quite the ride.

Bull

I’m sorry, I found that quite hard to read. There were so many gaps and instant turn around with no explanation or details. Then most of it was just sex.
