A lot of words for a bit of plot but ok. I enjoyed the opening scene where Logan tells Krakoa straight to their* face that they're* not to be trusted and that he's on to them*. He's been trying to warn the mutants since how many issues back but they wouldn't listen, would they?
*I need to check what's the correct pronoun for a sentient island that is also a giant talking tree.
Part 3 of the sword event for X-Men and sadly the weakest part but still entertaning.
The start is fantastic with Wolverine talking to Krakoa and letting him know he'll never trust him again before swearing to protect this land because of the good it will do. So starts off great, we get to see the other champion that will face wolverine on the other side, and the set up for a big brawl for Wolverine next part. While not great, still solid. A 3.5 out of 5.
Three chapters in and so far I've previously inked two out of the three artists who've worked on X Of Swords. C'mon, guys, let me play too!
But, seriously, this is fantastic. I'm running out of superlatives to describe X Of Swords and we're only three issues in. This issue introduces an intriguing new opponent for Logan, Solem. Solem seems part devil, part trickster god, and all deadly.
As I've mentioned before, Bogdanovic has form when it comes to amazingly good depictions of Hell, and he doesn't disappoint here.
Where's this all headed? Well, I'm going to crack open X-Force #13 and find out...
We're gettin' a sword bub [makes claw unsheathing noise]
In terms of story management, this is great. The issue not only advanced Wolverine's series and his story arcs, but also incorporated it well within the overall X of Swords story. Now I will acknowledge that the latter aspect is slower. That may cause quite a few people to not like this issue as much as the previous 2 entries in X of Swords or say that this issue is the weakest of today's releases.
It's good, just not as good as the other X of Swords books so far. Wolverine is looking for his sword. His likely opponent, Solemn, is introduced. Sounds like Solem is looking for the same sword but possibly there are two different swords made by the same man. Solem seems chaotic neutral and interesting. I enjoyed his sass.
While in sequence this is 6th volume of Wolverine 2020 series, but it seems its also part of another series so its to be honest very confusing structure. This seems not following the main threads from the first 5 volumes so not sure if they will merge later or not. I continue to like the art and writing, but hope things start to have better pacing.
