1. The hero is an alpha who is NOT parading around as a good guy while he manipulates the heroine. I prefer my manipulators straight up - and that's what I got. He also had this weird, soft side to him that blurred the lines for both Claire and the reader.I'm a little worried about my HEA though. Only time will tell!
2. It was written in the 3rd person. With this story I appreciated the distance it gave me from the characters, especially from poor Claire. So at every betrayal, instead of WTF?-DNF!, I was uttering a shocked No!!! and stayed up later to keep reading.
3. There was no information dump. The world-building, while perhaps a bit incomplete, happened little by little, which I appreciated.
4.It was well-written. The subtle hints that both Claire and Shephard are the products of their upbringings were really well done and added depth to the plot.
5. Lastly, it was weird. I loved all the purring, nesting, petting, and the pull of the pair-bond.
