The title caught my attention and the book blurb finished the job. Being a big fan of thrillers, along with trying new-to-me authors, I was excited to one-click. Sometimes that one-clicker isn't my friend . . .
In her debut novel, new-to-me author Nora Valters writes a shocking and cunning twister –filled with a bucket full of deceit and lies. The two main characters are equally disappointing main characters.
More suspenseful than thriller -- average at best – but it had its moments. Underwhelming but with potential. Falls into that endless, bottomless pit of “doesn’t work for me, but it might well be another’s favorite.”
The use of short-clipped sentence structure took a little time to settle into comfortably. And the book definitely calls for some additional editing.

This blurb had me so intruiged. An author being stalked by the uber famous star, and not the other way around? Couldn't have picked it up fast enough. But the audiobook just didn't work at all for me. The story was not as intruiging, exciting or even a little thrilling. Not my cup of tea

I’ve been on the domestic thriller train this past month and this one has been my favourite, considering I downloaded three books at the same time and this was the one I wanted to read the least..
Really shows the dark side of media and super fans which made for a pretty eerie read. I disliked Tom pretty much straight away, complete boy band member stereotype, arrogant, self absorbed but weirdly completely besotted and obsessed with sally, a reclusive, older,author.
In contrast, I loved sally and her descent into madness made for some really gripping reading.
My only problem with the book really was who Toms killer was revealed to be. The way the book was going, it was hinting that sally might have been the killer all along because of the way she was blacking out and doing things out of character that she couldn’t remember. I think that would have been great as an ending, but looks like it wasn’t meant to be...I just kinda feel like Alistair wasn’t mentioned enough for me to care if he was the culprit or not..just kinda felt like a random choice. But I enjoyed how everyone was considered a suspect and all had their own motives.
I’ll definitely read more by this author.

Fell Flat
Oh . . . I can so easily put myself right in Sally's shoes (at least in my dreams). A budding author whose biggest fan is a stud A-list celebrity. Wow! It'd be like having Brad Pitt suddenly become interested, wanting a date. Except, in Sally's situation it's a much younger Brad Pitt, fifteen years younger than she. And at first, it seems like a one-night stand, until morning when he invites her to dinner and then to a club. All too quickly, she realizes she's totally out of her element--authors are not twenty-something partying celebs. After a crappy night, Sally dumps Tom. The next day, she's not only mobbed by paparazzi and social media commenters, but by Tom as well, who refuses to take no. And all at once, a fairy tale dream morphs into a life-altering nightmare.
I was so intrigued for the first half of this book, wanting to know what it would all come to. However, from 45% to about 90% the story slowed to a frustrating pace. I wanted so much more from this book. It fell flat.

I got 45% through and have given up. Cliche plots with unrealistic, unflattering, and unlikely reactions, conversations, and circumstances. Sometimes I think, this is okay, and then two sentences later I have to resist rolling my eyes. Not to mention, I was waiting for the plot to get scarier, more interesting… only for the same old shit to keep happening almost half way through.
I RARELY give up books, but I’m saying goodnight forever to this one. Sorry, Nora.

The beginning of this book was actually good but after a bit I just kept waiting for something to happen. This isn't even a really long book but it felt like I listened to the audiobook for forever and the ending was a little random. I really would have wished for more details about Tom, maybe a chapter in his perspective or ANYTHING and not just his brother spitting his diagnosis in the last few pages. :(

What happens, when an A-list celebrity falls madly in love with with an upcoming author? Madness...
It was a twist filled, suspenful book. It really showed the dark side of the media and fans.
Sadly, I wanted so much more from this book. The idea is really interesting but the execution was not that good.

I really loved the setup for this book. The twist on the celebrity stalker was an cool concept, but it never went anywhere. For me, the characters were flat and their motivations were underdeveloped.
The author didn’t go into any reason why the hunky, narcissistic celebrity was obsessed with average heroine. He needed more reasons beyond, “well, I’m a self-obsessed wanker, who can’t take no for an answer.” His obsession needed to be built up, so the reader could see his mental illness getting worse and more erratic . That would have been really scary. Tom was never a fully developed character at all.
The heroine, Sally, spends the majority of the book hiding out at her parents and reacting so childishly. She never actually tried to talk to the the obsessed celebrity. She literally yells, “I hate you.” Like a petulant child. More than once. If she had tried to truly reason with him, like an adult woman and he still did obsessive things, that would have been a great way to show Tom’s lack of reality. She should have been the voice of reason to really show his insanity. And why didn’t she call the cops right from the get-go. She had at least three very valid times she could have and should have done that. She came across just as straight-up out there as Tom.
Even the torment from Tom’s fans was silly. So, she got covered with glitter at a comic con type event, then fell completely apart? Isn’t everyone covered in glitter and other makeup at these things? She acts like it’s the biggest violation ever. And again, call the police on the fans.
The whole story felt like people doing unrealistic and unexplained things. And Omar needed to grow up. Overall, it was very disappointing.

Skipped my way through it!
Could not get into it....unlikeable characters and didn’t make sense. Just not great and full of holes. Not recommended but I did want to skip to the end to see what happene.

The description of this book caught my attention. How interesting to have the celebrity doing the stalking. Usually you hear about celebrities being the victim. I saw it was included in the Kindle Unlimited program and selected it.
I like the author character Sally, with all her imperfections. I don’t mind when a character has flaws. I feel like it can make them more realistic than a perfect character who becomes a victim. Sally is dealing with getting older, writing her next book, depression and a one night stand with a celebrity who has psychological problems. He was definitely good for her ego, being fifteen years her junior and good looking. Unfortunately, as can happen with couples that have age gaps, she feels the age difference and she is ready to leave him behind. The celebrity, Tom, has a very different take on it though. He is convinced that they are meant to be together.
I really liked how this brought up some issues. I know age difference couples who do very well together. Usually one of them is spiritually on par with the younger, or more often, the older partner. I also know of couples who just needed to have the fling and move on. As I read this book I was thinking of many of these couples and how it would have worked, or not, if they were famous.
That was the draw for me. We all have had or do have a celebrity crush, (Johnny Depp for me). This book taps into that dream. Being a lifelong reader, another dream was being an award winning author. I was all up for the story. It worked for me for the most part. The middle of the book had times when the pace slowed. I prefer an even pace.
Sally’s family plays a big part in the story. I loved how supportive they were. I also liked the relationship with Sally and her sister. Sally’s friends and an old boyfriend also are a part of her support system. For Tom, we get his bodyguard, his assistant, a brother and a girlfriend. I was ambivalent about most of them, on both sides. I liked Omar until he totally ticked me off.
The stalking was crazy but then I started thinking about money, fame, how it can change you, and the fans who often are led by their feelings and perhaps dreams. It was easy to see how a celebrity could orchestrate this level of stalking. It was also easy for me to see how someone already prone to depression could fall so quickly by being stalked in a very public way.
There is a mystery to be solved in the last part of the book. This was where things got a bit weak. I felt like the author was suddenly tossing in characters just to have additional suspects. I did however keep reading and I was still tossing between suspects when the reveal came. I thought the book was more dramatic fiction with touches of thriller and mystery in it. It is for these reasons that I am giving the book a rounded up to 4 stars, (actual rating was 3.5 stars). It was a good first book. I would read another book by this author.

This book was just…. Meh. It took my daaays to finish when I should have finished it in less than a day. There wasn’t much keeping me glued. It was Underwhelming. Slow. Repetitive. Odd structure. Large time leaps paragraph to paragraph. And the big finale… just didn’t do it for me. The story had a great potential… The premise was very intriguing (upcoming author wins award, meets celeb, had one night stand, celeb becomes obsessed with her) and had the capacity to be great. But it really fell short, unfortunately. So many other ways this story could have gone to give it a little “umph” to make it more palatable. So many other “twists” or endings I was trying to sort in my head that would have been more exciting than what actually happened. But it was just really dry toast. Edible, but not appetizing. A generous 3 stars, as it was a valiant try for a debut novel.
This is my personal review based on my own experience. I’ll always encourage readers to read a book and form their own personal opinions. My yuck could be your yum! Happy reading!

It was really interesting to see fame tipped upside down with the famous being the needy person. This throws you off balance and makes it difficult to guess what's going to happen next in a world where people aren't always what they seem. The author keeps you guessing right to the end with threats coming from all over the place - family, friends and acquaintances are all potential threats!
It was brilliant to read a book with a perfectly imperfect female main character. She has the same physical worries shared by many women and does things she regrets later, as we all have. And it was refreshing to come across a complex character who's tough yet sensitive. Not something you often get with female protagonists. They're usually one or the other.
The book is well written, fast paced and although it's easy to dip in and out of you end up reading 'just another chapter'. Definitely one for your holidays or Christmas break.

As a debut novel I enjoyed this book.
I thought the concept of the story was original. An A list celebrity being the stalker. It turns out the person been stalked is a known author whose books have been adapted into films. Making it I suppose more believable as it’s not a celeb just stalking a random member of the public.
At only 5% of the way into the book I found a paragraph that involved the main character; the author. regarding alcohol and not really knowing when to stop. I found that this made the character more relatable and the fact that this theme was sustained as the story progressed.
However I feel that at times is was slightly dragged out and I’d sometime put the book down and not pick it back up for awhile.
I was dissatisfied with the ending as it seemed a bit rushed.
I look forward to seeing how Nora Valters progresses with her next novel.

Attention grabbing
I read the book in two days I finished and was shocked. This was very well written, this was the first novel I have read by Ms. Valters and she keeps you guessing til the end. The writing style is very easy to read I really enjoyed this novel it was different than any other psychological thrillers I have read; I usually read the more gritter psychological thrillers. Even though this novel wasn't on the gritter side, I read it and I really enjoyed it.
The book was a quick read and it held my attention. I loved the fact that the novel was written in a way that gets straight to the point and doesn't have ten pages of mind less conversations with no point. As hard as I tried I never figured out the ending before I finished reading. (If I had I would have read the ending anyway). I will be looking for any other novels by this author.

December 15, 2020I really wanted to like this book,but alas I was unable to. The idea is really interesting but unfortunately the execution was poor. It started off ok but the majority of the book seems to be set in the family home and involves the main character wearing her nightclothes and eating various meals-boring. Sally the main character came across like a 14 year old girl,rather than a grown woman. Literally did not care about any of the characters as they all seemed as ridiculous as each other and pretty much unlikeable. The writing style is very basic,almost laughable at times. Also chapter 24 has the strangest ending that I have possibly ever read,it's almost as if the author just forgot to finish it,so bizarre. I only read to the end out of some kind of morbid fascination and really wish I hadn't bothered.

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. I really liked this book despite seeing some not so good reviews! I really enjoyed the twist of a celebrity being the stalker and the commentary on super fans and media.
My main issue with the book was that I feel like Tom's motivations for becoming obsessed with Sally weren't really very well fleshed out. They explained why in the very end, but it was kinda grazed over. I also think it happened way too fast/early in the book. More building on that could've made for a more thrilling read.
Didnt love the ending either, but as to avoid spoilers, I won't go too in depth with that.

Pretty good!
I borrowed this book on my Kindle Unlimited site about a year ago. I kept passing it over to read something else because I was never sure about it. I'm glad I never deleted it too! Sally meets a boy band "star", who falls in love with her even though she was happy with a one night stand and done. He becomes scary possesive and spends most of the story stalking her and making her life a miserable hell. I think I held off reading this because I found the story impossible to get but it actually made me think I got some insight in how actors feel when it happens to them! Well written and really kept my interest.

psychological thriller/ stalking
This was a pretty decent read but I’m the end it just seemed to garbled and rushed to make a sensical ending
Sally was a writer coming into her own with book tours and movies. She made the mistake of having a fling with a super star celebrity ,Tom who has plenty of his own issues. Sally has now become the object of everyone’s attention, Tom, the media, her agent and things get blown out of proportion and take a downward spiral rapidly! Tom can’t seem to take no for an answer and it forces Sally to almost become a recluse.. and then Tom ends up dead…

DNF I loved the intial premise of the book, but it just drags on and on and on....The main character is silly and inmature. The author must have been paid by the number of pages or words, because some of the most obscure, irrelevent details (ex. chewing a piece of gum) are discussed FOREVER, while entire DAYS are summed up in one or two sentences. I really don't understand the mechanics of the writing. Ultimately, I don't care what happens to any of these unlikeable characters. PS: There was NOTHING thrilling about this so called "thriller".

Definitely a thriller. I couldn’t put it down. Not a great piece of literature, but compelling. I did expect more from the ending. Not as shocking as I expected. The main character was not as sympathetic as I had thought she would be. Quite a drinker who really just never figured out that someone on antidepressants and who was prone to making terrible decisions should maybe lay off the booze for awhile. That may be what kept me from liking this book more than I did.

A superb book. The characters really stand out and are very life like. Author Sally meets a famous pop star/ actor and has a one night stand with him but it doesn't end there. It ruins her life and the lives of her family and her fiance. I was hooked from the moment I started this book and I didn't put it down until my kindle battery went flat. Then I continued on the app on my phone. This author is going places. She has a real talent for writing and I can't wait for the next release.

I'm so relieved this book is finally over. This was so meandering for a thriller. It felt like the author wanted to tell like 6 different stories and didn't do a good job with any of them. Also, the main character just had the oddest reactions I've ever read. She would get insanely mad over nothing and then let others walk all over her and do horrible things and just be like "Oh well" it was really bizarre all the way around and not at all enjoyable.

This book was not very interesting and very poorly written. The author included every boring non important detail of the main characters day to day life. At one point there was an entire paragraph devoted to describing her chewing gum. Usually there is a point to including details like this, so I found myself hoping the main character would choke on the gum, ending the book and putting me out of my misery.

So entertaining! Her Biggest Fan was my first Nora Valters, and it was twisty, unpredictable, and fresh! Valters takes a unique premise — celebrity stalks *fan* — and crafts a novel of suspense that follows author Sally Speck as she tries to hold onto some semblance of a life despite being harassed by boy band star Tom Darlington, whom she meets by chance at an award show one evening. If you like Freida McFadden but want meatier storylines, this one is for you.

It was kind of hard for me to decide on a rating for this. On the one hand, I found the plot very intriguing and was, for the most part, quite invested. But on the other hand, the book was too long for how little actually happened, the stalker did not make enough appearances for it to actually get really scary AND the solution was rather predictable. So it's another case of "great concept, not so great execution". But it was, overall, a rather entertaining read so 3 stars it is.

What happens when an author and a celebrity meet, only for one of them to be a psychotic stalker.....This book is a pretty good take of infatuation fine wrong and the effects of paparazzi on an unintended family. Some parts of the book drag on and partially don't make sense but overall a good drama.

Her biggest fan
I found the story interesting and full of unforseen events that kept the reader in suspense and guessing. Sometimes the pace was rather slow, but not enough to detract from the storyline. The characters were well defined and enhanced the story. I would recommend the book.
