All is fair in love and war. Will the fire of passion in this comedy of errors bring Sam and Reid together, or will it leave them burned? Sam Valentine is the definition of a boss bitch. She is one promotion away from becoming president of her elite brokerage firm, and has a string of lovers along Chicago’s Miracle Mile. The one thing that could shake up her world is the Adonis in Armani standing in her boss’s office. The last time she saw him, he was naked under a waterfall in Barbados! Reid Gallagher never imagined he would see his vacation tryst standing in his father’s office. He certainly never imagined they would be competing for the same job. Ever since she left the Caribbean, he has fantasized about getting closer to the hot-as-sin Sam––in and out of the bedroom. The war that ensues is nothing short of outrageous. The weapons of choice are vibrators, whips, and drag queens. The combat zones include the conference room, a mud wrestling pit, and a strip club. No one ever said war wasn’t messy. In the battlefield of love, to the victor go the spoils, unless this couple can learn to set aside their differences, and surrender to passion.

***TEASER!!*** I untie Jerry from the bedposts. Sometimes a woman must make do with what she can find. I found Jerry at the gym, pounding the belt on the treadmill right in front of me. It was a fabulous way to pass the time, watching his ass tighten with each stride. We both worked up a sweat, his from exercise, mine from watching, and I decided that he needed to come home with me.
Jerry is a beautiful man with chocolate brown eyes, a sharp jaw, and a thick mane of hazelnut hair. His body is sinful with sinewy muscles and smooth skin. It’s almost impossible to find anything wrong. Except it isn’t Jerry’s face I see as I straddle him. Instead, my vision is filled with a nameless lover that I had met a couple of months ago in Barbados.
The Barbados stranger with shaggy blond hair and a beard to match has invaded every waking thought. How he smelled. How he tasted. How he felt inside me, stretching me full. The waterfall—I still get goosebumps just thinking about it. That was an experience not offered in the brochure. It’s those memories which have caused me to develop a habit of masturbating. Not to say masturbation is bad, it’s not. It’s healthy even. However, to pleasure one’s self six or seven times a day might border addiction. I was desperate for a cure and thought Jerry could be like a nicotine patch, except for sex. I was wrong.
Samantha "Sam" is a ball busting slutty VP at a firm. She complains through most of the book about making it in a man's world, yet she sleeps with clients and man's up business dealings in order to "make it". It's like she wants to be the man. She is in charge during sex and her claim to fame is sneezing every time she has an orgasm. She meets Reid on vacation and they don't exchange names. Lo & Behold they run into each other and find out they work together. Sex ensues and then work gets in the way so she wages war on him with some nasty tricks that are mostly illegal. Reid has baggage but is likable and honest. Sam is just unlikable and cringy. Drama happens and of course she jumps to conclusions and their relationship is tested. It was a quick read that I shouldn't have wasted the time on.
There's some office and gender politicking going on that would be a little hellish to live through, but damn if it isn't fun to watch Sam and Reid battle it out, and turn several gendered clichés on their head while they're at it!
I always appreciate a story where the woman isn't a shrinking violet, and Sam is definitely whatever the opposite of that. What is the opposite of a shrinking violet anyway? An exploding rose? Regardless, it's fun, it's sexy, I'm definitely glad I added it to my kindle library!
This was a super fun read! Perfect for when you want a bit of steamy fun for the beach or the pool. The characters are witty and charming, and the *ahem* scenes are...well...very nice. Loved this book!
