What happens when a gargoyle falls in love with the woman who carved him?
All Hell threatens to break loose.
1210 A.D.
For centuries Gargoyles carved from consecrated livingstone have been brought to life to fight the most vile of demons. Now, as a threat far more sinister than any the world has ever known looms, the time has once again come to carve out a hero.
The moment Celestino draws his first breath, his training must begin. Sequestered in the hidden halls of the Spanish Cathedral at Santiago de Compostela, his sole source of companionship is Iseo, the woman who made him.
Birthed by her mortal hands and denied the breath of the world’s creator, Celestino is destined to an eternally soulless existence. His first battle is against his own free will, when he finds himself drawn to the forbidden world of love. He must decide if he will obey the secret Codex of Gargoyles, or risk becoming the very thing he was summoned to destroy.
Will he honor the oath forced upon him or betray his calling to follow his heart’s desire?
I write historical fiction and fantasy. I am fascinated by Greek mythology. In graduate school, I focused on the ancient history of Greece and Rome. Hooked by the “sword and sandal” world, I studied everything I could about mythology and Alexander the Great.
The Homeric Chronicles series is dedicated to merging dozens of Greek myths, including Homer’s epics, with plays, history, and archaeology. My intent is to raise the heroines’ voices equally alongside the heroes, opening up a traditionally male focused genre to a female audience.
I live in CA and enjoy spending time with my children and grandchildren. I have a pack of two big dogs and two cats. I love to hear from readers. My favorite spot to scroll through is Twitter!

A strange supernatural tale which enthralled me. Janell Rhiannon makes her characters believable and the storyline hooks you and keeps you on the line until the very end. A great story writer.
I was captivated by this story and felt it held lots of promise. I mean this was new fantasy territory for me - the idea of the church sanctioning people to create gargoyles that came to life. It's a clever idea that hadn't been told before (or at least not in my hearing). But then the author created some romantic chemistry, and there was potential there for something more. And somehow, I felt like the author got in over her head and had to kill off the "Maker" in the story to keep things controlled, and that I did NOT like. Not sure if there are more books coming in this series, but I didn't like the ending.

Excellent!!! This would make an amazing movie; think of the vampire genre - this is a love story with a gargoyle, sounds bizarre but he’s also a man. Just read this, it’s great!
"Come, let me persuade this oyster to release the pearl I have purchased." Love, fantasy, horror & some theological q& a to wash it all down. ReaDy made for a sequel.. Love me some Janell Rhiannon!
