One life at an end, another just beginning.

Chaos looming in the distance.

Keira Altman was perfectly happy with her life, thank you very much. It may not have been perfect, what with her flighty mom and her endless parade of lousy boyfriends. But Keira knew what she wanted, and heaven help anyone foolish enough to get in her way.

Then one night on a winding mountain road, Keira and her mother are both killed and everything changes. Ripped from her own world, Keira wakes to find herself in a country called Loren, brought there by an ancient order called the Legion of Pneumos. Shrouded in mystery, the Legion is charged with battling chaos in all its forms, no matter the cost. What's more, it seems Keira herself may have a role to play in this cosmic struggle. That is, if she’s willing to claim the title of Legionnaire. But before she can master the forces of chaos, she must first learn to trust her grounder, Danny, and the peculiar connection they share.

But will the price of fighting chaos prove too high to pay?

See where the journey began in this exciting prequel to Chaos Looming, Book One in The Legion of Pneumos series.

Keira was torn unceremoniously from her life in 21st Century California and flung across the universe to a place called Loren. A terrible car crash in California left her dead, only to live again in a place where even running water does not exist. The mysterious Legion chose to save her for a reason: to help settle the rising chaos in the universe. However, Keira has much to learn about her calling and this new world she calls home. Luckily, Keira has her mentors Elliott, Nazor, and Danny to help her navigate her surroundings and become more adept at surviving the chaos that is looming. The prequel to Chaos Looming, the first in the Legion of Pneumos series, Cantor must necessarily be read in order to better understand Keira’s backstory and to build a deeper connection with the characters. Though occasional repetitive phrasing is found in the narrative, the story flows smoothly. Descriptive language is used throughout the story and serves to paint a detailed picture of Loren for the reader. An artful blend of dialogue and description presents the story in a memorable way. Each chapter is divided at a meaningful point, none becoming either tremendously long or unreasonably short. While many elements of this story are hinted at in Chaos Looming, Cantor fleshes out the story better and answers many of the questions raised in Chaos Looming. Teen readers interested in accessible fantasy and adventure will enjoy this prequel and the subsequent full-length novel.

🕸️🕸️ONE INCREDIBLE THRILL🕸️🕸️
Leaping lizards! Reneau cuts loose one tantalizing rollercoaster, cranking this puppy up full throttle, dishing out some ruthless facts, terrifying lessons and harsh decisions, keeping you riveted and frozen to your seat, bursting this jewel to a whole new level. Shenanigans and mayhem descend in a flurry of mishaps and convoluted tactics, breaking boundaries and blurring lines, limitations are amplified and enforced, reaching deep for every ounce of strength in a fierce surge of determination, melding this jewel together seamlessly. The characters are authentic, realistic and genuine with depth and qualities that blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and colorful descriptions so rich and lively, they blend and flow, creating an elaborate backdrop that feels as though you can reach out and touch it. Remarkable job Reneau, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

This was a fantastic introduction and I'm really looking forward to the series.

When Keira dies, she is sent to another world where she is supposed to help keep the world in balance. Accepting that she is in a new time and place is difficult, but learning to fight and control her pneuma makes it even harder for her to figure out what her purpose in this new land is, and if she even wants to be a part of it.

A good read. The plot was thick with action and kept me turning the pages. It was a short read but so much action and information in such little time left me wanting more! The characters were awesome, and likable as well.

The Cantor is a great short story. It takes you back before Chaos Looming, showing how our beloved characters first meet. Tention, drama, and skepticism flank the little farm as a new member joins the group, and new roles are given.
A great read with a great character background.
