साहिबे जायदाद शमशेर सिंह राणा अधेड़ावस्था के पार पहुंच चुका निहायत ही बदनीयत, ऐय्याश और मौकापरस्त शख्स था। अपनी जिस पुश्तैनी हवेली पर वह अकेला किसी प्रेत की तरह काबिज था, उसे शापित बताया जाता था। दूर दूर तक प्रचलित था कि हवेली में शाम ढलते ही मौत के साये विचरने लगते थे। रात के सन्नाटे में अजीब और दिल दहला देने वाली आवाजें सुनाई देती थीं। ऐसी भयानक और डरावनी जगह पर रहने वाले शख्स को एक रोज भटकती हुई रूहें अगर साक्षात दिखाई देने लगीं तो क्या बड़ी बात थी। कृपया ध्यान दें एक पाठक ने अपने रिव्यु में इस किताब के सस्पेंस खोल दिये हैं, अतः रिव्यु पढ़ने से परहेज बरतें। उक्त रिव्यु को डिलेट करने की कोशिशे जारी हैं। उम्मीद है जल्दी ही हटा दिया जाएगा।

This is my third novel by Santosh Pathak.
Santosh Pathak has emerged as one of the best authors of detective fiction in Hindi in recent times and is seen to compete with SMP of the old days.
This novel is also on the same lines though this time he has tried his hands on paranormal activity, on which very few novelists have dared to write.
The story is very tight and never ever one feels that interest is running away from the story. That is the reason that I was able to finish more than 550 pages in 3 days.
It is an awesome novel with so many characters but there are few shortcomings too

Plot

Shamsher Singh Rana is a wealthy person living in his ancestral Haveli near a village around Palwal ( Delhi) where his relatives want him to sell it as residential complexes are coming and therefore all the family can get a good price of the Haveli but Shamsher is adamant to live in this haveli.
He is also a womanizer and therefore involved in lots of crimes against women inside his Haweli but thanks to the local SI ( Mahipal Singh) he manages all these cases and is still Scott free.
He sees the spirit of a maid who used to work in his Haweli and she dares him that She will kill him.
Then one day all his relatives including his nephew ( Virat Singh Rana a very honest Senior Inspector ) get the same letter that the life of Shamsher Singh Rana is in danger and therefore all rushes to the Haweli and then starts a bloody game of killing.

Will the spirit be successful in killing the owner of the Haweli, Mr. Shamsher SIngh Rana? Will Virat be able to catch the spirit? Are all paranormal activities true?
You will only get the answer to all these questions after reading the novels


Pros

(1) Characters are well developed. All the scenes are well described as if you are present there

(2) THe suspense and the thrill remains till the last page

(3) All the character names are relatable and therefore you find connected to the Story

(4) THe story is fast-paced and you will never know when you have addicted to the whole plot.


(5) Santosh Pathak is a find for detective fiction readers in recent times and I would urge all detective fiction lovers to read his novels. You will not be disappointed.

Now on the cons

(1) First of all, the major theme copied from "The Murder of the murder of Roger Ackroyd" by Agatha Christie where one of the narrators is also the killer. But then Santosh Pathak has broken many ethical norms here: The killer who is also one of the narrators in many parts and his statements and his activities does not match when he/She is revealed as the killer. It contains a shock to the viewer but when you recall all the pages and stories it seems to us that once the story is nearing the end, Mr. Santosh Pathak has picked up a random person on whom we have the least doubt and presented him as a killer. It contains shock but to a serious reader it takes a lot of fun and seriousness out of the novel

(2) The investigation is pretty shoddy in the whole novel. When there is one senior inspector, and one junior inspector, this level of shoddy investigations cannot be taken lightly.

(3) If Virat Rana has to be developed as a serious detective in future novels then there is need for his sidekick( helper) character which is sadly not there in the novels

(4) Many times you get a feel that you are watching the movie of WO Kaun Thi (Sadhna and Manoj Kumar fame) and many horror scenes seem to be lifted directly from the movie.

Overall I will give this novel a 4/5. A must-read

It is a horror cum thriller story. It engages you from start till end though the ending was a bit slow.





“आप भूल रहे हैं सर कि ये दिल्ली नहीं है, ना ही वहां जैसी सुविधायें हैं यहां पर। उसके भी बड़ी मुसीबत ये होती है कि पहले उस थाने में फोन कर के रिपोर्ट करनी पड़ती है, जिसके अंडर में ये चौकी आती है। फिर लंबे होल्ड के बाद कहीं जाकर उधर से बताया जाता है कि क्या करना है और कैसे करना है? बावजूद इसके कि जो कुछ भी करना है वह हमें ही करना होता है, ना कि हमारी मदद के लिये थाने से किसी को यहां भेज दिया जाता है। फिर सारा काम बंधी बंधाई रूटीन में ही तो करना होता है, इसमें अलग से बताने लायक कोई बात ही कहां होती है? मगर आप जानते ही हैं कि हमारे महकमें में ऑफिसर छोटा हो या बड़ा, हर किसी को अपने सीनियर्स को रिपोर्ट करनी ही पड़ती है।” “ऐसा करना बेहद जरूरी होता है महिपाल सिंह वरना शहर भर पर अंकुश लगाने के लिये तैनात पुलिस ही एकदम से निरंकुश हो उठेगी। हर कोई अपनी मनमानी करता दिखाई देगा। जवाब तलबी का डर न हो तो ये महकमा, बल्कि किसी भी महकमे के लोग अपने काम को ढंग से अंजाम नहीं देने वाले, भले ही वह किसी प्राईवेट सेक्टर में ही कार्यरत क्यों न हो। जवाबदेही ही हमें अपना काम ढंग से और समय पर पूरा करने को मजबूर करती है, वरना अखलाकन तो कोई कोई ही होता होगा जो अपने काम के प्रति समर्पित हो।” “ये भी खूब कही जनाब आप ने, खैर बात मृतक की कार के मुआयने की हो रही थी, आप चाहें तो वहां तक मैं आपके साथ चल सकता हूं। चौकी ही तो लौटना है दस मिनट बाद सही।” “नहीं खामख्वाह परेशान होने की कोई जरूरत नहीं है, वापसी में कार पर एक निगाह डालता मैं हवेली लौट जाऊंगा, वहां कौन सा मुझे घंटा दो घंटा खड़ा रहना है?” “जैसी आपकी मर्जी, फिर भी मेरी या महकमे के लोगों की कोई जरूरत दिखाई दे तो निःसंकोच फोन करियेगा, आपकी मदद कर के मुझे बहुत खुशी होगी।” विराट ने सहमति में सिर हिला दिया। तब तक दो सिपाही मोटरसाईकिल्स को सड़क से नीचे उतारकर खेतों से होते हुए गड्ढे के उस पार सड़क पर पहुंच चुके थे। महिपाल सिंह ने छलांग मार कर गड्ढा पार किया और वहां खड़ी मोटरसाइकिल पर अवतार के पीछे सवार हो गया। देखते ही देखते चारों पुलिसवाले उसकी आंखों से ओझल हो गये। कार को बैक करता विराट करीब आधा किलोमीटर तक पीछे ले गया, फिर एक जगह सड़क की चौड़ाई बढ़ती देखकर कार को यू टर्न दिया और धीमी रफ्तार से ड्राईविंग करता हुआ घटनास्थल पर पहुंचा।






“कमाल है” - विराट हैरानी से उसकी शक्ल देखता रह गया– “कितनी आसानी से तुमने उसके चमत्कार को ढोंग साबित कर दिया, जबकि मुझे ख्याल तक नहीं आया था।” “आप सभ्य लोग हैं विराट साहब इसलिए ऐसी बातों की जड़ तक नहीं पहुंच पाते, वरना चमत्कार जैसी कोई चीज इस दुनिया में नहीं होती। एक चुटकी बालू से अगर कोई बांझ औरत बच्चा जनने लगे तो मेडिकल साइंस तो रसातल में मिल जायेगी, कोई बाबा मीलों दूर बैठा अगर सबकुछ जान सकता है, देख सकता है तो मैं तो यही कहूंगी कि ऐसे लोगों को फौरन पुलिस में भर्ती कर लेना चाहिये, इंटेलिजेंस ब्यूरो में काम दे देना चाहिये, फिर अपराधी को पकड़ने की बजाये अपराध घटित होने से पहले ही उनपर काबू पाया जा सकता है, हर तरफ राम राज्य कायम हो जायेगा, लोग कोई गलत हरकत करने की कोशिश भी नहीं करेंगे, तुम बोलो क्या ऐसा संभव है?”

शानदार

बात करते हैं "छलावा" की ।

एक भूतिया हवेली । जैसा कि आम तौर पर इस प्रकार के भूत बंगले पर आधारित कहानियां प्रचलित होती हैं, बिल्कुल वैसा इस उपन्यास में भी है । अलग क्या है :- प्रस्तुतिकरण ।

कहानी का नायक "विराट" जो कि पुलिस विभाग का एक होनहार,मस्तमौला, जिंदादिल इंसान है, के साथ साथ उसके कुछ रिश्तेदारों को , एक रहस्यमयी खत मिलता है । जिसमें जल्द से जल्द "भूतिया हवेली" पहुंचने का आमंत्रण मिलता है ।
भूतिया हवेली में रहने वाले प्राणियों में केवल 2 इंसान ही जीवित बचे होते हैं । हवेली को मरते दम तक पकड़ के रखने की कसम खाने वाले"ठाकुर साब उर्फ शमशेर जी" तथा वफादार नौकर ।

शमशेर जी, उनके छोटे भाई अनंत सिंह का परिवार, उनकी बहन पल्लवी का परिवार तथा भतीजा "विराट"
उपरोक्त लोगों के एकत्र होने के तुरंत बाद से शुरू होता है

भय,रहस्य,रोमांच का अनूठा सफर ।
कत्ल दर कत्ल का सिलसिला ।
जिसकी परत में छिपे हैं
धोखा,छल,पाखंड,हवस का नंगा नाच, की अनोखी दास्तान ।
जिज्ञासा वाले तत्व:- हवेली का रहस्य क्या है, ये सब कैसे हो रहा, कौन कर रहा,क्यों कर
रहा ??
खास बात:- कत्ल के सिलसिले के चरम में मात्र 2-3 लोग ही बचते हैं, फिर भी कातिल का अंदाज़ा लगाना , आसान नहीं है ।

अधूरापन:- बालू वाले बाबा का रहस्य, क्लाइमेक्स वाले कत्लों की जरूरत ?
शाब्दिक त्रुटि:- मात्र एक शब्द में ।

कुल मिलाकर:- एक बेहतरीन लाजवाब उपन्यास
थ्रिल,सस्पेन्स,हॉरर, सबका एक साथ मजा ।

कम से कम 2 बार तो पढ़ना तो बनता ही है ।
"पाठक" जी को दिल से धन्यवाद , ऐसी रचना के लिए ।आगामी कृतियों के लिए अग्रिम बधाई ।

Mindblowing

Horror suspense thriller. Another superb novel from santosh ji. Character of muskan/ mukta is superb emotional. Good length of novel justify all characters. To write a novel with such caliber and such speed puts santosh ji on top bracket of hindi novelist. Carry on sir.

पहली बार मर्डर मिस्टरी में हॉरर का मिश्रण देखा है वो भी अच्छी क्वालिटी का, एक बंगले के इर्द गिर्द कहानी घूमती है जो असलियत में पसंद आती है. जो इस किताब का मैन किरदार विराट है वहीं सबसे कमजोर किरदार लगा, अभी विराट राणा पर काफी काम करने की जरुरत है.

ये एक फुल मसाला एंटरटेनमेंट किताब जो यकीनन पढ़ने लायक बन पड़ी है 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

This novel is taut and clever but has a lot of loopholes. The story is full of murder after murder, but apart from the family in which it's happening, no one seems to care, not even the close relatives. The end reveal is fantastic but the way it's told is severely underwhelming. But overall, I enjoyed this book a lot as it kept me intrigued throughout despite its shortcomings.

एक लचर नावल

यह नावल कम और परी कथा अधिक है। वास्तविक ता से दूर । इतने कत्ल होने के बाद भी कोई सुगबुगाहट नहीं, अन्त में पुलिस ही पुलिस का कत्ल करते हुए दिखाई देते हैं, कमजोर कथानक और बेकार स्टोरी लाइन ऐसा नावल कोई नोसिखिया ही लिख सकता है।
