Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.
Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.
Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.
In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.
Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.
This was an ok read. I honestly expected more from this author, he has such great stories. I felt like we could have done without part 2, and I didn’t really get the whole twin angle it really had no place in this story. Then to only turn around and make the twin shady. I didn’t get it and it didn’t give me the wow factor I’m assuming it was suppose to. It fell flat for me. This story was also sooooo damn repetitive like I was so tired of skyy saying she wanted to take care of herself it was giving me a headache, just for her to not even get to that place. The whole dymond situation was irritating as well, you keep telling this girl you don’t wanna be with her but u keep arguing with her, why? The story really never went anywhere, but it was ok.
This action pack story is the sequel to the intriguing novel ‘Drunk on a Thug’s Love: Skyy and Remy’. its amazing writer, Blake Karrington, continues attracting the reader’s attention, this time, by narrating how much Skyy and Remy love each other ,and in turn, describing some obstacles that will interfere with their love. The key question here is: Is their love strong enough?
After being abused and mistreated by her cold-hearted ex- boyfriend, Skyy found an affectionate man, Remy, who is willing to be a caring and loving partner. She feels at ease with him and ready to be an independent woman. Yet, in order to fulfill her goals, she will have to make some sensible but difficult decisions. On the other hand, Remy feels attracted to Skyy but his life is not a simple one. His ex is pregnant and his fatherhood is questioned from the very beginning. Skyy and Remy do their best to cope with these situations but only time will tell.
Intrigue, suspense and mystery are some of the feelings that you will experience in this emotionally charged novel. As the chapters unfold, we can witness what Skyy and Remy do and how they feel as the chapters are narrated in the first person by both characters.
I couldn’t put it down! It’s easy to read as it is written in a casual and lively style. In addition, it is quite fast-moving as it retains the reader’s interest throughout. What I like the most about the story is how the characters come to life in the narrative and how I felt identified with both protagonists. If you are into novels you should definitely give it a shot. Don’t miss it!
Let me start by saying that this African American urban fiction brings some interesting situations compared to the typical romance scenarios. And what I enjoyed the most while reading this book was the fact that both of the main characters have a voice in the storyline. It was a nice decision by the author; this made the narrative so uplifting that, in the end, I think it makes us readers more vulnerable to the story.
This is the sequel to “Drunk on a Thug’s Love: Skyy and Remy” written by Blake Karrington who continues hypnotizing us in these fictions. This time the story goes about the love and affection concerning Skyy and Remy and all the “obstacles” they have in between that are obstructing their way to be together. In one side we have Skyy, an empowered woman wanting to break all those toxics links in her life and follow her heart, trusting in her desires and aiming at what she deserves. And in the other side we have Remy, a very charming and loveable man by Skyy’s eyes, but he has some things to resolve in other to be with her.
Over all, this book lives up to my expectations. We are getting a lot of suspense and uncertainty and that was what made the read very exciting for me. I found myself wanting to read faster and faster but at the same time I was reminding myself to savor the read as well. To draw the conclusion, I was very impressed with this book, not only for the story itself but for the fact that the author outdid himself in this second book: “Drunk on A Thug’s Love 2: Skyy and Remy”. I’m recommending this book to any reader looking for a pleasurable read. It’s a five out of five stars for me.
Drunk On A Thug’s Love 2 is quite an interesting story. The main character, Remy, is a man who handles his “businesses” and finds himself in the situation of an unwanted pregnancy with someone whom he didn’t want a child with. His current girlfriend, Skyy, is dealing with insecurities because of his new child and the mother as well. Throughout the book, Remy encounters several plot twists that take him to the point of having constant migraines. He finds out deep things about his family, unexpected events with his child and also with Skyy. The author, Blake Karrington, created a book that is narrated by Remy’s and Skyy’s points of views (POV) and it’s displayed in 18 chapter plus the epilogue. It’s written in a standard dialogue though it does have some curse words so I do recommend this book for young adults. As I read the book it did give me the element of surprise in certain parts which I thought was good. Overall, it’s a good and quick read that will cause different emotions on the reader so I totally recommend it.
I don’t like how sky was being treated by him. She was already in a tough spot because of her past relationship and she told him that. He kept pushing her, then her baggage was too much and she was insecure when the whole time she was right about A lot of the things she had problems with. Idk seems like a lot of emotional manipulation on Remy part. IMO he had more baggage than she did. She was doing just fine with her job and apartment. He didn’t even care that she left school or talk to her about her feels. It was all about him. Idk. Made me feel sad for her honestly. Like he kept coming at her like SHE was the problem when it was really all the people in his life that brought him problems and she just kept apologizing and trying to “ change.” His lack of communication is the problem just cause a man ain’t cheating and he pays for stuff does not make him perfect. That’s what he’s suppose to do. After all that she was still in the same position…. A kept woman. Which she didn’t want to be.
If you like Urban Fiction readings, you cannot miss this book! This is the sequel of the story of Skyy & Remy, Best Seller “Drunk On A Thug's Love” by author Blake Karrington; and it keeps the same level of gripping drama than the first one. The romance between main characters means a start over for both, as Skyy Pearson and Remy Deveaux had troubled and dramatic family and couple relationships. Will their love be strong enough to survive their past and current issues or would it be best for both of them to just let go? The narrative style of the book is really interesting, as each chapter is intermittently told in the voice of each main character. In that way, readers can really empathize with Skyy and Remy and their feelings. Also, the plot of the story is action-packed and completely engaging. Full of crazy drama, deep love and true friendships; this book will keep you on the edge of your seat with every turn of the page!
This is the second book I read by author Blake Karrington and I must admit he never disappoints me. This is a different story full of unexpected twists. Drunk On A Thug's Love 2 is a unique story about Skyy and Remy, two young people marked by tragic events. Skyy's life takes an unexpected turn when her mother dies of an overdose. In that moment, she meets Malachi, a powerful and manipulative man. On the other hand, Remy's life has not been easy either, after the death of two of his favorite people, Remy tries to get his life back. When Skyy and Remy meet, they felt something they have never felt before. Are these feelings enough to be together? As I said before Blake Karrington did not disappoint me. I enjoyed this novel from the beginning to the end. I liked the descriptions of the protagonists, and the way author Karrington presented sensitive and important issues for some readers.
Author Blake Karrington did it again: with his amazing and engaging writing style he gives us a novel which is beautifully and exquisitely well-written and captivated me from the minute cero, leaving me wanting for so much more.
Drunk On A Thug's Love 2: "Skyy & Remy" tells the story of Skyy Pearson who has suffered a lot: her mother died of drug’s overdose, she was taken by a man who was obsessed; she has had really bad moments but now she is ready to move on and to have a fresh start when she meets Remy Deveaux. Will they overcome the obstacles?
This book is divided into eighteen parts. There are romance elements which suit just fine. The sentences are well crafted and really easy to read; it is as if I floated through pages without any effort so I devoured it. I finished it in three sittings, something unusual for me.
To conclude, I would say that this book is stunning down to the last page and that is why I’m giving it five starts. I thoroughly recommend it.
This tale falls into the category of African American Urban Fiction and is the sequel to the first book under the same name and it brings the same characters, Skyy and Remy, back. The author decided to pen this book in the first person and divide it into 18 chapters, each of which are named after the two protagonists. The main theme of this story is drama, which lingers even after you finish reading. Both Skyy and Remy have had dramatic family issues throughout their lives and they have translated that to their love story. Remy used to have a thinking pattern, but when he met Skyy the tables were turned. So, I believe this narrative teaches us lessons on how sometimes our minds are pre-set to act in a certain way but then unexpected circumstances can transform us into totally different human beings. Relationships definitely take a lot of work, will this one be a work well done? I totally recommended this second book, it will keep you turning pages after pages.
I'm so happy Skyy and Remy gotten there happy ending...
Dymond caused her own death because she couldn't have Remy like they say Having a baby won't keep a man in this trapping one most certainly would not because you believe in if I have this baby he gonna choose me not especially when a man told you from the gate I don't want a relationship this just sex you got in your feelings how many ways do person tell you I don't want you....
Then Skyy ex Malachi couldn't understand she doesn't want you either you get upset because she finds someone else who respect her who doesn't treat her like he did should have walked away now you about to spend the rest of your life in prison behind what rejection and getting your butt kicked only to find out you shot the wrong person good luck with that..
But in the end they got there family and like he said He got the money they can go see Dr about having their own as well
An unusual love story Blake Karrington brings this untold story to the average reader. If you find everyday, simple romantic tales boring, this is the book for you. Karrington shares with us the story of how the life of two hopeless people clash and join (forever?). I personally enjoyed the fact that both main characters of this fascinating tale have a voice in the story. We start learning about Remy, a guy who has gone through unbearable pain: he has lost his lover and his child. Then, we get to know Skyy, a girl who is tired of being controlled by men and who is discovering her inner power and strength. There are only 150 pages in this book, with 18 touching and page-turning chapters. I recommend buyers of this book to read part 1 of the “Drunk on a Thug’s Love” series before reading this one, so as to follow Skyy and Remy’s unique love story from the very beginning.
Sky and Remy has had the ride of their life. The ups and downs keep on coming but through it all, Tierra has been a very good friend. Malachi is losing his mind and doesn't understand that when it is over, its over. Dymond the stripper and baby mamma is just plan jealous and hatefu!l but in the end she had sense enough to have the hospital call Remy. It was sad what happened to Aunt Gwen but now Remy knows the truth. In walks Ryan, Remy's identical twin. Drama, drama. In the end, Sky and Remy are married and their family includes Elise and possibilities. This was very good. Off to jail Malachi goes.
This was a page turner..all the drama tht Dymond put them thru..Remy had a good heart but didn't trust his own heart when he met Skyy..This was a good story about Love & it's breaking points especially when it comes wit baby mama drama One u start reading this book u won't put it down because u wanna knw whts gonna happen next!..so grab ya copy & Enjoy this BANGER!.. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Talk about drama. This book was drama filled from beginning to end. The take on baby mama drama was on point and I loved the way that Remy fought for his daughter. There are plenty of ,en who have to go through drama with bitter baby mamas and I liked the way that it was handled in this book. I wish that Remy could have seen the dirt in his brother before he was killed though. Glad that Remy, Skyy and Elise got their happy ending.
This was just was good was the first one. It seemed like Sony & Remy couldn't get a break it was always Drama when they was trying to find happiness. I didn't think that Ryan was going to be trouble not wishing that what happened to him happen but he wouldn't have some trouble but I was satisfied as always just offered does a great job of bringing bangers must reads.
I was very glad that Remy & Skyy made it work in the end, but baby! She was working my nerves with all that whinnying. Remy was doing his best and he wasn’t getting hit from all sides and here she go being insecure. I would have like to see the story more developed with his brother Ryan. Honestly I didn’t think we needed that addition. Dymond dying was certainly a surprise. Overall, the book was alright.
Skyy was really doing the most. I could see if Remy was acting shady or different towards her. I just wanted to shake some sense into her to realize she's causing unnecessary problems for their relationship. The plot twist though. That was super unexpected in all honesty. My mouth was on the floor when the full truth came out. This series was a good one
This was a Great book, I enjoyed every page, I read this book in one sitting. I'm so glad that Remy and Skyy got their relationship together, Remy was a good guy he loved Skyy . Dymond was a gold digger that got a full wake up called when she had to knuckle down and take care of a baby. I loved Skyy & Teirra relationship!.
I’m so glad Skyy and Remy got their happy ending. They went through some drama, smh. His baby mama was a hot a** mess, and I’m glad that he ended up taking his baby from her. Skyy and Remy was made for each other and this storyline was great from beginning to the end.
Definitely a wild ride, but a food one!!!... I can imagine being a mom and having to leave on of my children behind!!!...I would have loved to see what happened in Ryan's life growing up!!!...It was good to see Tierra get her happily ever after with Dante!!!...Malachi was such a chump and should have only been mad at himself!!!...
This was a cute love story. If you looking for a lil mess and a bitter baby mama, this will do it. Ryan seems like you karma came to collect with interest. All in all a good read.
I was looking forward to part 2 but it just didn’t do it for me. I made me want to read part one again because the way the relationship was put out in part 2. I wasn’t feeling and honestly I was looking for me but I didn’t get.
To bad they made the twin a bad seed and I hated it took Sky until the e d of the book to grow up. I felt like they rushed her homegirl wedding too. Overall it was good.
Omg 😳 this was crazy. I felt so bad for Sky she went through some stuff . She should’ve spoke to someone about how she was feeling . But that Dymond took the cake 🎂. Crazy 😜
O M G ! ! ! Skyy and Remy were sickening ! ! ! It was so hard for the to communicate ! ! ! Dymond really took herself out and Ryan got karma but Malachi just played himself ! ! !
Every female in this book was plain stupid only decent one was the best friend sky almost made me stop reading i was getting sick of her childish antics and the mama topped the cake
When a writer can pull every emotion out of a reader! I wanted to sit them ALL down in somebody’s therapist office cause WTH!? I was way too emotional for the events in part two. And Malachi would definitely have got these hands on sight!
This book details nicely how couples have their ups and downs trust issues and how relationships take hard work it has a great ending with a twist along way loved it
