D J Cook, or Danny, lives in Cheshire with his annoying yet lovable partner, and even more annoying siblings. He has a Special Guardianship Order for his sister since his mum lost her fight with cancer in 2013. Danny uses books as an escape from reality, because who wouldn't want to be in House Tyrell, sipping wine and watching The Hunger Games unfold before their very eyes? When he isn't consumed by a world full of books, he binge watches TV series and plays Xbox. If he disappears, you'll either find him at IKEA or in the bath.

This was my first book by D J Cook and it won’t be my last.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story that takes you on a journey of emotion, loss, grief, and finding that second chance at life.
Tamsin, my heart broke for her several times. Oh that girl is strong.
Callum, what a sweetheart. Cute AF.
And Liam, oh Liam, he was just fabulous! Loved him!

This book has been on my TBR for a while now. I found myself drawn to it so it was clearly time.

And I devoured it in one sitting.

Tamsin is an emotional rollercoaster of a book that will connect with a lot of people due to the subject matter. Cook deals with it all in a very honest and sensitive way.

The friendship between Tamsin and Liam is probably my favourite thing - their banter is natural and flows off the page. And I'm off to download Liam's book now.

When I first started reading this book, I thought it was a little slow moving, but I soon realised I was wrong. It moves along at a good pace, but it’s very understated. It’s not your ordinary romance and what comes through the most is the emotional journey Tamsin is forced to embark on.
She’s a young woman who’s had a great time for the past three years studying, living away from home for the first time and having fun with her best friend, Liam.
It’s now time to move back home with her mum to start her adult life with all the responsibilities that entails. Without giving away any spoilers, her new life doesn’t quite turn out the way she’d hoped, and she’s having to grow up very fast in a very short time.
The emotional toll on Tamsin is high, and you sometimes wonder if she’ll get through the hard times, even with the help of Liam, a new job, and a new love.
This story tugged on the heartstrings on more than one occasion. The characters were so normal and well crafted they could be your neighbours, or your own friends and family. The settings were also nicely described and rich in details such as sounds, smells and colors.
At times, it was a difficult story to read, as pain and sorrow flowed off the pages in some parts, with great friendship and sweet love in others, and it felt as if it was a very personal story to the author.
Overall, it was a great read. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes a good romance and an emotional, reach-for-the-tissues story, filled with close knit family, deep friendships and the excitement of a new relationship — all of which gets tested to their limits — and I look forward to more from this writer.

A really good page turner and easy read. Lots of emotion and connection with the main character, but all characters were good. The story kept me asking oh what happens next? Is he for real? How does this play out? Awww I hope that she’s ok ???

I hope there’s a sequel

So this not only was my first book I've read by this author but I also believe its the debut book by DJ Cook too.
I can say as much as it wasn't my most favourite read... and I did feel at some parts it was slightly jumpy/needed some more information.. I was drawn into the storyline and I loved Tamsin Liam and Callum.
The friendship between Tamsin and Liam who have been besties for life was amazing and just what you'd want in real life.. they were close.. loving and hilarious together through the good and bad times.
When Callum first appears on the way to work one day Tamsin can't believe her luck when she turns up to a job interview and there he is.. but its not all plain sailing for these guys with alot of drama.. bumps and emotions thrown their way testing just how much they care for each other.
Jumping straight into Liams story next.

Emotionally brilliant

Oh wow Tamsin is a heart wrenching story from the get go, giving me chills as the story progressed on.
DO Cook takes us on journey of of an emotional rollercoaster. From the start we learn how Tamsin is in uni with her best friend but gets a call that changes her world as she knows it. Her mom is sick and she needs to head home to her. The emotion that's poured into this story is second to none. My heart ached for the characters. Having finished there degrees they back home for good. Soon the way her mother gets worse and Tamsin tries to carry on with life with her best friend in tow and then Callum too. Things aren't plain sailing tho and Tamsin starts to see things that are there but not as they seem.
This book has suspense and love and hope and tragedy altogether.
Get ya tissues at the ready at the ready you will need them.

Wow

I thought this book would make me cry! And this sounds weird but actually it didn't but it made me realise that how I feel at the moment is normal! Danny you are a person who I feel is a friend even though we haven't met. This book is amazing and how you managed to write it is beyond me. Tasmania just finishing uni when her mum tells her devastating news, can she get through it maybe just maybe with the right people around her. From that I realise we can get through whatever we have to with the right people near us. Danny you are one of those x

I've once again fallen in love with another story by D.J. Cook. His characters are so real and honest. They feel like people I know and want to be friends with.

Tamsin has had more then her fair share of heartbreak and trauma in a short amount of time but she didn't let it get the best of her. Yes she struggled but she reached out to overcome her problems and carry on. I'm even a bit jealous of her friendship with Liam..I wish I had my own Liam 💙

I can't wait to read Liam's story and hope to see more Tamsin and Callum in his story.

Tamsin is a student in her last year at Uni, her mum is her best friend along with Liam.

The story takes you through her last year, and graduation, and the things that go along with it,

Something happens (possible trigger warning!) which turns Tamsin life upside down

It was a good read (for me a little hard in some places due to personal circumstances) I enjoyed the book and hope there might be another to come with what the future brings

Wow - doesn't this book pack a punch!

Reading 'Tamsin' took me on such a rollercoaster ride of emotion; happiness, sadness, love and everything in between! A story with unimaginable loss, but also a very raw and real journey to recovery. It felt like I really knew Tamsin and I found myself completely emotionally invested in her wellbeing, and the story.

I absolutely cannot wait to read more from this author! Watch this space :)

Not for me

Let me just say, there was nothing wrong with this book. I really didn't want to mark it low so went with a 3 star just because I couldn't connect with the storyline. I struggled to get into it, it was more just reading words, rather than a story. Again, it's nothing to do with the book. I think sometimes it just doesn't fit for you. But good luck to the author and hope other readers enjoy.

Beautiful

Love, love, love this book. A relatable main character, a hilarious best friend & one of the good ones for a boyfriend makes the perfect trio. The plot, set in & around good old Crewe, flows perfectly with the ups bringing a smile to my face & the downs a tear to my eye. Really well written, I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish. Highly recommend giving this a read!!!

This was my first book by DJ Cook and I throughly enjoyed it. I didn't want to put it down. There are sensitive subjects in this book and Cook writes it beautifully. Tamsin is one tough cookie with everything that she has to go through and I honestly saw so much of myself in her. I agreed with a lot of things that she would say throughput the book! Callum is so cute and I want Liam to be my BFF! Speaking of I'm off to download Liam, I'm excited to see where this next book will take us!

Tamsin is an absolutely gorgeous story full of intense emotions. I love a good cry and this book gave me that in spades as well as absolutely heartwarming moments and a beautiful ending.
Grief is always a tough topic but it's handled so beautifully and authentically here and feels so real. I would absolutely be friends with Tamsin, I love her!

I never would’ve believed this book was a debut if I hadn’t been told. Tamsin’s story is packed full of raw emotion and packs a hell of a punch.

It’s a story filled with love of every kind—the love between friends, from parent to child, and between lovers. I cried so many times reading it that I lost count. I felt myself sinking into Tamsin’s life effortlessly every time I opened the pages, feeling her highs and lows right along with her. I felt her elation as she embarked on a new adventure in her life, her thudding heart as she took the first tentative steps into a new relationship, and I felt her devastating heartbreak as she faced up to the most awful truth with all the courage she possessed.

This is a beautiful, painful story of love, loss and hope triumphing over despair. Five huge shiny stars!

Wow! What a story this was.

If you want a story that will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions, then you need to read Tamsin. From the very beginning I was hooked, I loved the whole storyline. It completely touches your heart in a way it doesn’t let go. At times it had me crying and it is written so beautiful for a storyline that effects so many people in this world.

The characters are wonderful to read. You can feel yourself connect with the emotions they feel as you read the story. Tamsin is a character that I know a lot of people will definitely connect with, having experienced what she feels.

This story is definitely a 5 star read and one I will recommend to everyone but definitely one to be prepared for the onset of tears with it. It will pull at your heart strings that’s for sure. Amazing story by this new author.

An impressive debut! Tasmin's story took me on an emotional journey. I felt her emotions and experienced all that she did right alongside her. Her hopes, her losses, her dreams, the grief and despair and feeling as she was losing herself, I felt it all. Her supporting characters, especially Liam and Callum were amazing and brought so much depth to the story. I look forward to reading more works by this author.
