Absolutely loved this book so much, it was as such an addictive read, I was hooked from beginning to end , the writing was really good, it felt a bit slower at start but really picked up about a third through , the characters were great, chemistry between characters really something ! I loved although immature at times I think I’d be the same with Xavier next door, fantastic PNR

No spoilers, everything specific in this review happened in the first two chapters.
The book started off with a immature 22 year old who has been obsessed with her grown neighbor since she was 13. She shapes her life around him, going to Paris because he’s cooked there, working at his restaurant, and being creepy. She is a fan girl of someone who she thinks is at least double her age. Besides the whole ”I’m a mature grown up and everyone treats me like a child” attitude, the main character, Kara, comes off as unappealing, obsessive, and childish.
Bring in our vampire. He’s moody and pining after a dead beloved, which is pretty vampire-like. However, in my opinion, vampires should be mysterious. This story flip flops between his and Kara’s point of view. None of his feelings are sacred. Everything is pretty much laid out there in the beginning as far as what goes on in his head. I think that it takes away from the character.
I thought I was going to hate this book at this point. I didn’t like either of the main characters and the constant switching of point of views was tiresome,
Around 60% of the way through the book, something changed. I’m not going to include spoilers. However, this went from a story that I was just trying to get through to hoping there would be a sequel and not wanting it to end. The characters became more interesting, the storyline picked up, and the writing got significantly better.
In conclusion, if you are willing to cringe your way through the slow and predictable beginning, the second half of the book is worth it.

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with few if any typos and well constructed sentences. The world building was pretty vibrant, with the restaurant and vampire politics and magic being well described without slowing the pace of the action. The characterization was okay, with the hero and heroine being sympathetic characters if not especially nuanced. The development of the romantic relationship was natural and organic. The plot and pacing were exciting and quick, meaning I read this novel in two or three sittings. There was a medium amount of angst on the part of the hero which made the story drag a bit, and very high stakes which maintained my interest in the story. This novel used the Virgin trope and the Unrequited Love trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. The ending was a Happy Ever After ending that I found vaguely unsatisfying because the hero did not become mortal, or the heroine become immortal so that they had equivalent lifespans. I always dislike it when the author of a paranormal romance makes that plot choice, because I find the HEA ending bittersweet in that situation. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy paranormal romances with traditional vampire world building. I was hoping there would be a much more pronounced All Hallow's Eve flavor to this story, but it was still a very competent paranormal romance despite that. I do not think I will read any other novels by this author, though I did enjoy the story. I will not be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel.

Overall I liked this book.
I liked that the fairies possess the ability to allow vampires to walk in the daylight when they drink their blood. I actually enjoyed the fact that the author brought in a power hungry vampire who was willing to do whatever necessary to give him these powers.
Now, what I didn't like and what just really brought the story down for me was the heroine.
I get it, she's only 22 years old. But man did she act like an immature teenager throughout this book.
I didn't really understand the relationship between Xavier and Sebastian. I wish the author would've fleshed this out some more than what we were given. Like why were they so distant with each other?
Lastly, I just really didn't care for the comparisons between Kara and Xavier's long lost love. I know he does come to lover her for who she is, but still I just couldn't get over how she was constantly compared and then even went so far as to kind of dress like her on Halloween to get his attentions.

Xavier Bordeaux was turned against his will along with his twin a very long time ago. A hundred years ago he lost his great love and still mourns her. Now he's a world-renowned restauranteur, trying to live a quiet life.

Kara Greene has crushed on Xavier since her family took her to his fancy restaurant when she was a teen. Since that day she was determined to become a chef and one day own her own restaurant.

Kara returns home after her father disappeared and was presumed dead. She's trained all over the world and sets her sights on working under Xavier at his restaurant.

When Xavier meets Kara, he realizes she's a doppelganger for his lost love. There is no way he can work with her day to day but they keep being drawn together by day and in their dreams at night. The vampire world isn't safe for humans and he will do all he can to protect he but the vampire King and his maker both have different ideas.

These two learn about each other's lives in depth, after he took her blood. They start sharing memories and having spicy dreams about each other and neither can stay away for long. An interesting way to fast track the getting to know you part of the relationship for the characters and to fill in past highlights for readers.

Kara lets a teen crush become obsession, which comes across as a bit creepy. As the story unfolds it gets better in some parts and cliché in others. I did warm up to the characters eventually, but in the beginning, it was a struggle.

Kara and Xavier have lived in the same town for years without ever having interacted personally. Xavier is a successfully restaraunteer and Kara is a newly trained chef whose interest in food was started by a birthday meal at Xavier's restaurant. A love for good food and a schoolgirl crush on Xavier has brought Kara home to interview for a position at his restaurant but she also wants a chance at a relationship with the only man she's ever been interested in.
Xavier is the owner of a successful luxury restaurant and he is also a vampire. A vampire who has lived hundreds of years. While interviewing Kara he is immediately aware of her resemblance to to the woman he lived years ago but lost to death. He intends to reject Kara as both an employee and love interest but finds himself hiring her against his better judgement.
During their brief but tempestuous interactions, secrets are revealed that can change their lives. Danger rears it's head and Kara and Xavier, along with their feelings for one another, are put to the test.
I loved this story. Totally engrossing, superb characters and such a great storyline.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Kara Greene and Xavier Bordeaux. Kara has know Xavier for years now. See they are neighbors. This does not mean that they hang out and chat over the fence in the lawn kind of neighbors but neighbors non the less. Since she has returned home a week earlier she has been having dreams about Xavier that she hopes to take out of her dreams and make a reality. She is even interviewing to work in his restaurant. Xavier knows from the moment he sees her there is something about her he just can't put his finger on it. He knows he wants her but he also knows he won't touch her. Since his last lover mysteriously left him he has not been willing to let another into his life. There is something about her though that keeps pulling him in. Will these two find a HEA or is there more to the story that neither are aware of?

This is another amazing story by this author. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Kara has dreamed of working for chef Xavier since she was a teenager. Now that she’s got her chance, nothing will dissuade her. His personality runs hot and cold, but that just adds to the intrigue. When Kara immediately reminds Xavier of his long lost love, he takes it as a sign to stay far away. But how can he avoid her when she stars in his dreams every time he closes his eyes?

At first, Kara came across as frightfully immature. She never quite shook that quality, but as she developed as a character, the trait slipped further and further into the background. Despite being a vampire, Xavier seemed to live a very mundane life and eschewed anything that might disrupt that existence. But it was nice to see that he could tap into his wilder side when the situation called for it. I was worried that his past love would be a source of contention for the couple, but I felt like the author managed to avoid falling into any obvious tropes.

I thought that this story worked well as a standalone, but there was still room to expand the universe. I’d be curious to see some of the side characters get their turn in the spotlight too.

Well-plotted vampire romance

Here is a good read for you: Chef-in-training and only daughter of a father missing for three years gets her dream restaurant job. The owner, her reclusive neighbor and childhood crush, agrees to hire her even as a strangely deep attraction seizes both of them at her first interview. News flash: He's an ancient vampire, and she resembles his centuries-gone one and only love. Mean and conniving vampires are on her trail, and his. Does that have something to do with his estranged twin's reappearance? And now come that ne'er-do-well vamp sibling wants a brotherly investment partner? And how on earth does the little weasel get away with walking in daylight??!! There is much frustration, suspense, hot sex, and a few come-to-Jesus meetings before the whole mystery is made plain in a hair-raising climax straight out of a fairy tale. Enjoyable reading, with likable and distinctive characters, an intricately woven paranormal plot, terror-tinged suspense, and a flaming hot love story, Last Bite entertains from page one to the end of the epilogue. This is a voluntary ARC review.

The beginning of Last Bite was slow and uninteresting to me. It is about a 22 year old woman who has had a crush on her neighbor since she was very young. She wants him to notice her now that she is out of school and has gone to culinary school in Paris. She has an interview with him to work in his restaurant, the place she went with her parents as a teeenager. The flip flopping of the characters made no sense and was boring. This could have been omitted from the story. I almost stopped reading the book. The story took on a more interesting plot towards the end. That is when the author began writing some action scenes. This is when I began to enjoy the story. The writing got much better and the story was more interesting. The ending was very good and I believe it was worth reading. I am looking forward to her next book.

This is a topnotch vampire read that completely drew me in and kept me engaged. There is enough dram and suspense to keep you engaged but at heart it ios a wonderful romance

Kara has finally finished her training as a chef and she ants a job at Xavier's restaurant after all a crush on him and a meal at his restaurant is what started her on the path to becoming a chef. What she doesn't know is that in fact Xavier is a centuries old vampire and he is stunned when sh comes in for her interview as she is the mirror image of his lost move from years before He immediately decides he won't employ her as he believes she will be to much of a temptation bur somehow he ends up offering her a job. The electricity between them takes as he suspected it would and no only do they start a relationship bur he takes her blood. Blood that is so special it allows him to walk in the sun. Can they have a future together or will her blood put her in danger You will have to read to see

Kara has completed training as a chef and now seeks a job working at Xavier's restaurant. In a way, he gave her the desire to be a chef when her parents took her there for a birthday meal. She has also had a crush on him for a long time.

Xavier is actually a centuries old vampire. When she comes for an interview, he is at first not intending to hire her. She looks identical to a woman he loved in the past. But he relents and gives her a chance. The attraction between them is intense. Their relationship begins, and he drinks some of her blood, finding that it will allow him the ability to walk in the sunlight! This could put her in great danger. Is there anything they can do to keep her safe?

This was an interesting story that got better as it progressed. Grab your copy and find out the history behind what is going on. See whether others find out about Kara’s blood and if she truly is put in great danger.

Xavier has a fine dining restaurant and lives just down the street from Kara. From the time she was about 12 she has had a crush on Xavier and decided to become a chef. She thinks she's found her chance to really begin her career by working at Xavier's restaurant. However, she is the perfect image of Xavier's long lost love, Isabella. The vampire "King" is not a nice guy and neither is
Xavier and his brother's maker. Kara doesn't know it but she is more than just human and that puts her in real danger. This was an exciting and entrancing read. The characters are well thought out and the stage is set very well. They will have challenges and rewards and it is all worth it. I loved how their families adapted but I do wish that Kara wanted to be with Xavier till their end but, oh well. So when I first started reading this book, I was like, "oh a vampire in New Orleans, how unoriginal" but I gave it a chance and kept reading. I like the chemistry they had with one another. The relationship though, felt rushed in a way but being that it's a shorter book, I can understand that. I just wish there was more to it than, "oh you look familiar and remind me of someone I knew" kind of story. Not that those story doesn't appeal to me. It just takes some good writing to make it work. I thought the main trouble was going to be the brother but I am glad it wasn't. The twist also kind of reminded me of another book I read about these two particular groups and why they don't mesh.

Overall, other than the issues I sort of mentioned (sorry don't want to give away spoilers), I think it's a good read. I think that if it wasn't a short book and the author was able to expand more then it could have been a lot better.

Another vampire story about a young girl with a crush on a millennial old vampire. At first, I wasn’t impressed with the story line or where it was going, but I must say, it had me smiling at the end. I really enjoyed this book.

There were your villains and heroes of course, a little predictable in the beginning, some twists and turns in the middle, and a satisfying ending. I enjoyed the determination and attitude of the main character, Kara, despite her obvious lack of judgement meeting vampires at night. The author sets up her supernatural world in New Orleans by telling the story from both Xavier and Kara’s POV. Romance, danger, suspense is all included.

If you want to relax and read a good book without a cliffhanger, then you should scroll up and get this one.

Xavier, a vampire, is the owner of a successful up market restaurant. Kara has been in love with Xavier since she was a girl and dined at his restaurant. She fell in love with Xavier and cooking. It inspired her to become a chef. Now back home she wants a job in his restaurant. But Xavier is reluctant to give her a job as Kara resembles his lost love to much and he is attracted to her to much. Finally Xavier gives in. But not only does he take Kara's virginity, he drinks from her. Kara blood is delicious and different. It allows Xavier to go out into the sun and not burn too ash. Why is this? Why is Kara's blood so special, when she is only a human? And what happens when Kara becomes pregnant? What will she do then?

When I started reading, I didn't have high hopes, honestly. The heroine is just out of culinary school, dreaming that her teenage crush is a vampire who has swept her off her feet.
However, the more I read, the more intrigued I became. There are multiple twists and layers. The world building is good. But there was one jarring note-not too many homes in New Orleans have basements. There is a reason the cemeteries have mausoleums and crypts.
Kara started off as a typical 20 something coming home and pursuing her dream, but showed a deep strength and backbone. Xavier started as a typical remote almost antihero, but his background led him there. The bad guys are truly evil and deserved what they got.
I look forward to more from this author.

This book was enticing and mysterious, I couldn't stop reading it. The pain Xavier carried for so long, and how much he fought his attraction to Kara because of his fear of losing another loved one was heartbreaking. Kara is such a devoted, strong and persistent woman. She fought for everything she wanted and deserved, one of them being Xavier. I was really surprised at the ending with Sebastian's business proposal, I was waiting for a sex ring or something 😂 but it actually turned out to be a really nice and cute idea. I loved the fairy concept and the stones, I think it was really original and interesting, different from what I've read so far. It was a great book that captivates you from the beginning, I loved it ❤️

Although not a lover of vampires, I did enjoy this book.

A new author to me and I'm not really a lover of vampires. I mean I haven't even watched Twilight......ever. This was a good read though. Grabbed your attention from the start and kept it all the way through. Kara is home after finishing her degrees in food and back to the crush she had whilst at school, Xavier. Little does she know that he harbours a big secret and one that will still live even when she passes. A man from his last has come back to cause trouble and make sure that the vampires are at the top of the food chain. Can Xavier and his brother, Sebastian, defeat the evil Enzo and Liliana before it's to late?????

"We weren’t meant to walk in the daylight, we were creatures of the night." A very well-written bad boy, curvy girl romance story with wonderful characters This book will keep you reading and wondering what will happen next. If you like romance and happily ever after, this book is for you.

Kara has an interview at La Myrtille restaurant, her dream job. It also didn't hurt, that she has had a crush on the owner forever. After she started working for him, her dreams about him were becoming more vivid. But nothing compared to the real thing.

Xavier knew before he began the interview that he couldn’t hire her. So why did he agree to give her a chance? And why did he take her in his office? He needed to stay away from her from now on.

Enjoyable read. Xavier and Kara have great chemistry. She’s had a crush on him for years and when he finally notices her and reciprocates... wow! Even though the paranormal/vampire trope has been around a long time, Kai brings some fresh and interesting characteristics to the story that makes it different and interesting. There’s enough twists to keep you on your toes but the plot is very believable (even being paranormal) I wouldn’t mind seeing Sebastian get his own story, he makes you want to learn more about him.

Xavier has been a vampire for centuries, he is now a well known restaurant owner in New Orleans, Kara is a young up and coming chef who has had a crush on him since her teen years but more than that her dream job is to work at his restaurant. When they meet Xavier knows he must resist his attraction, he cannot bear another loss in his long life, but one taste and he is hooked. Kara soon finds herself embroiled in a world where vampires are real and she is in very real danger. This was a good book with some mystery, danger, steamy love scenes and a HEA.

Last Bite by Kai Lesy is a paranormal romance. Kara has had a crush on Xavier since she was a young teenage girl. Now she is a young adult and meets him again. Then it gets interesting: good friends, loss of loved ones, evil bad people, good people, vampires, fairies, and even good food. This was an entertaining story and my favorite character was Sebastian, who I hope we get to see more of. I liked that this story really is about love and family and what that means. Of course there was a wonderful HEA which I was so happy for.

I truly enjoyed this book. It took a more commonplace topic and put a unique spin on the subject. I enjoy a good paranormal romance and this book definitely hit the mark. I found the characters well put together and well thought out. The book kept me interested page to page and never seemed to lag. I have to say this is one of my current favorites. I will definitely reread this book! I was able to read this in one sitting which says a lot about the author when they can keep your interest throughout the entire book. Good job!

Gripping paranormal steamy romantic suspense
Last Bite:  A Vampire Romance by Kai Lesy is a well written paranormal romance with tons of suspense throughout this book's gripping plot.  Xavier and Kara are wonderful characters that fight destiny, give in, then fight their connection to no avail.
This book was the first by this author that I have read and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. It was a nail biter all the way with building tension and suspense on top of an unexpected surprise.
Overall, an enjoyable and entertaining read that ticked many of my paranormal romance boxes and especially the HEA.
