Elyse Kelly is a new author to me, but Don't Date Your Roommate was definitely enjoying to read! It was a little quick, and I wish that there was more to it and a bit more developed, but the characters were ones that I could get behind! Christian is the guy that is the end game- the romantic, sweet guy but also hot AF!
All in all I totally enjoyed the story but just wished that there was more to it. I give it 4 outta 5 stars and am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!
PS: Thank you to Elyse Kelly and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly.
The hotness in this book was 100% HOT!!! Christian and Ava were perfect for one another since the first day they met. They both knew what they wanted but never acted on it until everyone else started pointing out the obvious attraction.
Then they became roommates and that’s all it took! Christian was patient and kind. Ava was groomed to be a trophy wife until she ran far away from that life. Together they had so much love to share. The pure attraction and lust was WOW!
Elyse Kelly continues to give us amazing books with a great couple. Ava and Christian get thrown together as roommates when their roommates Callie and Asher want to move in together. They are attracted to each other but afraid to cross that line of roommates to more. This story follows the ups....only the ups of these two. Ava hasn’t lead the best life, she was privileged yes but not the best. Christian is in love with the idea of love and wants the real deal long-term full on commitment of a relationship. These two are absolutely adorable and Christians unwavering love and support is wonderful. He never doubts anything when it comes to Ava even when she has some personal doubts about herself. We get a check-in with Callie and Asher, and nice snippets of clues into book 3 with Dane and Sophie. Don’t hesitate to grab this series from Elyse Kelly. You will get love and laughter from each of these couples and I am sure in the ones to follow as well.
This was such a good steamy quick read with some feel good packed in there too.
Ava and Christian are thrown together as roommates when Ava’s best friend moves in with Christian’s brother this would not be an issue except they are insanely attracted to each other.
During movie nights and spilling secrets things get blurred and feelings develop.
Can these two swim through the muddled water together and get the life they have always wanted?
After the first book in this series I couldn't wait for Ava and Christian's story. And Elyse Kelly definitely did not disappoint. I loved the book with my whole heart and was hooked from the start. I flew through it and was sad when it was over. It's a fun, lovable, enjoyable short book and I definitely recommend it to anyone. Can't wait for Dane and Sophie!
I love this series and am so happy to be back in Magnolia Springs!! This is one small town that knows how to deliver sweet with a big ol' side of sexy!
DDYR picks up right where the Sweet Spot ended leaving both Ava and Christian with a big housing predicament. They find themselves as unexpected roommates when her best friend Callie and Christian's brother Asher decide to move in together. A perfect solution it would seem if they weren't so attracted to one another and if they can survive this roommate situation, maybe they'll wind up being more....
Where the Sweet Spot brought the heat, DDYR definitely brought the heart. I loved how Christian and Ava really got to know one another and developed a real friendship first. The way Christian always called her "Ava Bear" and was genuinely caring, sweet, and supportive of her needs was truly endearing. He was also Alpha sexy in an understated way. Ava is a bit of a mess at the beginning. She's a little lost and unsure of herself after leaving the cold superficial life her parents had mapped out for her. It was heartwarming to see Ava blossom into the self assured, strong woman that she always could be.
Filled with humor, endearingly sweet moments, and super sexy times this book will keep those pages turning from beginning to end. I absolutely love this series and will eagerly anticipating Dane and Sophie's story in book 3.
This was a fantastic read that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND putting on your TBR NOW! Trust me, you'll thank me later 😘
*I was generously given an ARC copy of this book by the author and Wildfire Marketing PR for an honest review *
This was a great quick saucy read. Ava and Christian find themselves becoming roommates after Christians brother Asher moves his girlfriend Callie in to the house the boys share. There is a definate connection between Ava and Christian but they both are cautious about following it through incase it blows up in their faces as they are now roomies. Ava's previous life is a bit of a mystery and she is normally quite guarded but she really opens up to Christian which gets the ball rolling untill they eventually give in to their feelings. There are a few bumps in the tale and the course of love never runs smoothly. I really enjoyed this read it made me laugh and swoon in equal measures. I loved Christians mum she was awesome. Im now going to go back and read Callie and Asher's story before Sophie and Danes story comes out.
Don’t Date Your Roommate is my second book by Elyse Kelly and has earned her a spot on my Go To/One Click Authors List! Her books are sexy, funny, easy and sweet - the absolute best kind of romance read.
In this book sexy mechanic Christian gets his chance to woo Ava, the woman of his dreams. One problem, Ava has put him in the roommate zone, screwing up his chances of winning her over. Never fear, Christian is a man on a mission and he pulls out the big guns and goes after what he wants. Whether he’s walking around shirtless, or wearing grey sweatpants or barely there basketball shorts, he’s getting her all kinds of hot and bothered and the poor girl does not stand a chance.
I absolutely loved everything about this book and cannot recommend it enough! Do yourself a favor and add this book, along with Book 1 of the series - The Sweet Spot, to your TBR list. Enjoy!
***This book was sent to me as an Arc from the author for my honest review
Don’t Date Your Roommate was an all around sweet story. Ava & Christian’s love was so instant an all consuming. When you find that one person that makes you complete it’s hard to be part from them an that’s what Ava & Christian have and it was a great love story to read.
ARC Review The Dragon Den * * * * * Loved it! So happy the series continued. It was witty, funny, steamy, sexy, filled with drama and a growing family bond. Christian and Ava were an adorable couple in the making. With Ava's past comes to town to spin everything out, I was going to start smaking people...thankfully someones stepped in for me :P Can't wait for book 3! Great read Elyse!
Cupcakes laced with chilli ... it works! I’d had this book on my Kindle for a while, and decided Valentine’s Day was a good time to plunge into such a will-they-won’t-they romance. So, for Ava and Christian ... will they, or won’t they? You already know the answer - of course they will, and you’d be disappointed if they didn’t. They did get there marginally faster than I expected, but I suppose it left the author more time to lace the cupcakes with plenty of chilli ... and I mean plenty! In her thank you at the end, the author says she hopes it “... brings a smile to your face and a tingle to your fun bits.” I have to say, she rather succeeded, but I did also feel my age, stumbling into a long-lost world of perfect bods and endless staying power. And as for the cupcakes ... well, they play a role too. Indulge yourself and find out!

Don't Date Your Roommate is the first book I've read by this fairly new author. The second book in the Magnolia Springs series, this book follows after Elyse Kelly's debut novel Sweet Spot. Read as a standalone, this story is a contemporary romance roommates-to-lovers/ small town trope filled with humour, swoony moments and sexy scenes. In this story, Ava left her home and the life she led there so that she could help her best friend open up a new business. She also wanted to do something more for herself, something meaningful, as living the superficial rich privileged life with her parents wasn't fulfilling her. Christian is the town's bachelor mechanic. He has never been one for one night stands, but has also never come across a woman who rocks his world. Until Ava. When Ava's best friend and Christian's brother decide to move in together, these two are left in a housing predicament. With them both being in the same boat, they agree to live together. Christian has been attracted to Ava since the beginning, and even though she has put him in the friend/roommate zone, he will stop at nothing to woo and win her over. Living together, these two develop a close bond and the lines start to blur to the point where Ava can no longer resist Christian and his charms. This was a great read that had me smiling and swooning throughout. I'm looking forward to seeing what Elyse Kelly writes next in the Magnolia Springs series.
I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.
This was a very short, cute novel about finally finding the right person. Christian and Ava have been orbiting around each other for a couple of months, but once they become roommates do they decide to see if the connection they feel is real or not.
I liked how Christian is a relationship guy and not a one night stand guy. It does make him a bit MUCH to handle if you are not looking for that right away, but he's sweet and charming and such a loveable person. And Ava is just trying to figure out her life after the craziness her parents taught her throughout the years. I would not be able to handle her life growing up, and I am so there that I would have left that life in an instant!
These two were cute - maybe a little TOO cute with each other, but it was nice to see two people connecting and realizing their feelings for each other. I'm glad I got the chance to read this book!
Ava is the mysterious new girl in town who catches the eyes of the super hot Christian when her best friend, Callie, starts dating his brother, Asher. When Callie moves in with Asher, displacing Christian, it makes sense for him to move in with Ava temporarily. The two have been attracted to each other since they first met and everyone knows it. However, they both think it’s a really bad idea to date your roommate. How long can they deny their feelings while living together?
This story had everything. A short, sweet romance with a bit of mystery and plenty of steam. Christian is SO swoony!!! Asher and Christian’s mother, Olivia, deserves a special mention for her ability to put rich boys in their place.
This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. Dane and Sophie are up next and it’s a fake relationship story so I can’t wait!
They always say to not date your roommate--you don't want to complicate things when you have to live with someone. I guess it's much harder when you're super attracted to your roommate! When Christian's brother moves his girlfriend in and kicks Christian out of his house, Christian moves in with Ava while he figures out his next moves. What can possibly go wrong? Christian knows what he wants and he goes after it--it happens to be Ava. The two go from zero to sixty in the blink of an eye. Their story runs super hot and very quick. It's a fast paced story and I would have liked to see the characters be developed a bit deeper but it was still enjoyable. I would pick up the two other books based on this read!
This is the 2nd book in this series and is Christian and Ava’s story. When Ava leaved the life she was groomed for behind she arrives in Magnolia to help her best friend start her business, and it is not long before her friend is moving in with her boyfriend leaving Ava looking for a new roommate. Christian is in the same boat as his brother is moving his girlfriend in to stay, and he ends up sharing with Ava. There is an instant attraction between these two, but can they ignore the steamy chemistry? This is a well written quick read, which is entertaining, humorous, and with witty banter. I was hooked throughout, and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Don't Date Your Roommate is the second book in the Magnolia Springs series. Featuring Christopher and Ava, this is another sweet, fun and sexy read! I love the dynamic between the two of them - we definitely need more Christophers around!
Slightly more serious than The Sweet Spot, DDYR deals with family relationships, the unrealistic expectations some parents have on their children, and how holding out for true love can truly save your life. Saying that, there's still plenty of hilarity, along with some serious steam! 😉
I received an advanced free copy of Don’t Date Your Roommate to review with my opinion. I loved the storyline and the romance, it was off the charts. It’s for sure not a slow-burn romance full of teasing. It was sweet and passionate without any drama. If you are not one who likes for there to be trouble or a big explosion of feels then look no farther. The book is drama free with all the feels included. Ava and Colin know what they want and they aren’t afraid to go after it. Nothing can stand in their way...except maybe a fiancé....Check it out for yourself it’s available now.
A quick steamy read with a hot, alpha hero and his girl. Christian isn’t one to play around. He enjoys being I love and a real relationship. Ava has never been in a relationship. She is from a well to do family. She was raised to arm candy and a trophy wife. What happens when two people from different walks of life room together? They find a connection and quickly break the rule of not dating your roommate. Cute insta story that brings intense heat humor and hearts. Love the character and looking forward to Dane’s story
Seriously though. Elyse writes the best mix of steamy and sweet. The guys of Magnolia Springs are to DIE FOR. Hot, worship their women, and just all around good southern men. I love them.
This book focused on Christian and Ava, and was filled with tension, and drama, but not enough to stress you out. Just enough to keep things interesting, but still keeping it the perfect summer read.
Haven’t discovered Elyse yet? You need to. Her books are like reading your best friend’s diary and I can’t get enough.
Absolutely loved it! *SPOILERS* I was hoping they hook up after I read The Sweet Spot. All hail Mama Olivia. LOVE HER! But seriously such a great book I cannot wait to dive into the 3rd book.🥵 I loved hearing the backstop if Ava and seeing her and Christian get close. He is different from his brother but both still HOT AS HELL and both treat their ladies right. Seriously. Cupcakes, hot guys who aren't jerks🥵 Best friends since forever with their guys who happen to be brothers. What could be more perfect?

A sweet and quick rom-com. This is my first book by this author and it is a cute story of Christian and Ava. Christian has always had feelings for Ava but he tried so hard not to go there because Ava is his best friend's sister. When he needed to move in with Ava, he knows it's going to be hard to hide his feelings. Will they be able to get through it or not?
This is a well-written quick read, filled with entertaining and witty banter.
This was my first time reading Elyse Kelly, but I enjoyed this book so much that I immediately purchased the first book. While I really enjoyed this story, I do wish it was longer to just to flesh out more and give us readers more time with Ava and Christian, who are absolutely fantastic. I loved the interactions and banter between these two, and I gotta say that Christian is the man you want in your life: sweet and romantic but is also hella hot!
Second book in the series is 🔥! A quick read but very enjoyable. I love the coupling of Ava and Christian, and liked learning more about them. Christian is hot but really wanted a true love relationship. Ava is beautiful, and wants more than being a wealthy trophy wife. Read this for a hot, sweet quick read! I can’t wait to see what happens in book 3 between Sophie and Dane!
Oh my heavens!!! I absolutely adore Ava and Christian’s story. We met them in the first book of the series and were rooting for them then. I really appreciate that this author doesn’t have drama within the relationship itself. This short read has everything you want- great characters, fun storyline and completely NSFW scenes. Fantastic read!!!
Christian and Ava...what more can you say about this couple? This was the perfect small town romance with friends butting in, exes or family interfering and of course one of them just has to go and do something stupid. LOL So much fun to read with lots of fun banter between them all.
Don't Date Your Roommate is the second in the Magnolia Springs series by Elyse Kelly. It is the cute story of Christian and Ava, who become roommates when her best friend and his brother fall in love and move in together. It is a short low-angst story with heaps and heaps of steam and a good HEA.
Christian is my new book boyfriend. This is my first book by this author even though I kept seeing posts and books by her. Now I am glad I picked this up. This was funny, extremely sexy and left me with a big smile on my face.
3.5 stars. I loved the first Magnolia Springs book, and I adored all the characters we met there. This is the story of Christian and Ava, respectively the brother and best friend of the two MCs from the first book. The premise is one I really like. When Callie moves in with Asher, Christian needs a place to stay, so Callie's solution? He can stay at the cottage she had rented with Ava. Brilliant, right? Except that Christian and Ava are very much attracted to each other and both are wary of getting involved romantically while living together.
The heat between these two sizzled. Truly, the steamy scenes were some of my favorites. But I would have liked to see a bit more tension, maybe a couple "almost" scenes before they finally give in to their combustion. Especially considering Ava also has other reasons for being cautious. I was a little disappointed in the lack of buildup before they jumped... well, each other.
I really liked Christian's cinnamon roll tendencies, and can see why Ava would need someone like that over an "alpha". The two were really adorable together, and Christian gives Ava the attention and love she's been craving all her life.
Also, the way Ava handled the polo-shirted problem that showed up late in the story was excellent. I'm glad she dealt with him, rather than letting Christian handle it (Kudos to Christian's mom there). But I felt like Ava's parents were the bigger issue, and there really was no resolution there.
In all, I'm glad I read this book, and will read the third.
