Be transported with this magical boxed set of stories from NY Times, USA Today, and national bestselling authors! In this collection, you’ll find witches, wizards, and warlocks, along with vampires, shifters, and other creatures of the night.
The Witch Ways boxed set includes these first-in-series paranormal romance and urban fantasy stories:
STORM BORN - Christine Pope WATER WITCH - Thea Atkinson STICKS AND STONES - Meredith Medina MAGICAL MIRI - Debra Kristi DEUS EX MAGICAL - Kat Parrish BLOOD OF PROMISE - Leeah Taylor ONCE BITTEN - Tina Glasneck THE COVEN PRINCESS - Lily Luchesi SHADES OF MAGICK - Julia Crane CALLED - J.A. Belfield
A native of Southern California, Christine Pope has been writing stories ever since she commandeered her family’s Smith-Corona typewriter back in the sixth grade. Many reams of dead trees later, she’s happy to announce that her debut novel, Fringe Benefits, was published by Pink Petal Books on April 8, 2010. Her short fiction has appeared in Astonishing Adventures, Luna Station Quarterly, and the new journal of dark fiction, Dark Valentine. Her paranormal novella, Playing With Fire, was released on August 5, 2010.
While Fringe Benefits is a straight contemporary romance, she writes in a variety of genres, including paranormal romance, fantasy, horror, science fiction, and historical romance. She blames this on being easily distracted by bright, shiny objects, which could also account for the size of her shoe collection.
After spending many years in the magazine publishing industry, she now works as a freelance editor in addition to writing fiction. She lives with her husband and an explosively fluffy Pomeranian mix. Her house is pink, but don’t hold that against her.
I thoroughly enjoyed every book in this box set. Each had a supernatural theme, mainly about witches, but some included werewolves, vampires and other magic Fae.
I have reviewed each separately, each getting five stars because they really were great reads. All of them were well-written (except for the American phrase ‘off of’ – it should be just ‘off’ or ‘from and it does spoil the flow of writing). Most were first-person, which I like because it gives further depth to the story, though all were excellent.
I would recommend this great-value box set, even though most are the first in a series so you’d have to buy the next to continue the story – most did have sort of a conclusion, however. Recommended for sure.
The series of books are great fictional reading. Some of the books included have a series unto themselves. I look forward to reading them when time allows.
Witch Ways is a ten-book collection that has plenty of paranormal and urban fantasy magic, all wrapped up in one handy package. With nine full-length books, plus one novella- this makes for quite a few hours of supernatural fun. As each book in this anthology is the first book in a series, this is like a series ‘sampler’ for the ten authors featured here- so it’s a great way to get a taste and feel for what they can (individually) offer. The Anthology consists of: -Storm Born (The Witches of Wheeler Park Book #1) by Christine Pope -> and is the first book in a nine-book series… -Water Witch (Witches of Etlantium Book #1) by Thea Atkinson -> and is the first book in a nine-book series… -Sticks & Stones (Daughters of Hecate Book #1) by Meridith Medina -> and is the first book in a five-book series… -Magical Miri (Gifted Girls Series Book #1) by Debra Kristi -> and is the first book in a five-book series… -Deus Ex Magical by Kat Parrish -> it is listed as a series prequel, but there doesn’t appear to be any other books available (Yet?)… -Blood of Promise (Kings of Sterling Book #1) by Leeah Taylor -> this is the first book in a five-book series… -Once Bitten (Order of the Dragon Book #1) by Tina Glasneck -> this is the first book in a nine series and follows on from the prequel… -The Coven Princess (The Coven Series Book #1) by Lily Luchesi -> this is the first book in a trilogy… - Shades of Magic (Daughters of the Craft Trilogy Book #1) by Julia Crane -> this is the first book in a trilogy… -Called (Holloway Pack Book #1) by J.A. Belfield -> this is the first book in a thirteen-book series…
These ten authors each weave their own unique story but keep to the same ‘paranormal’ theme. All the stories are individual to the author, with their own unique take on the theme- all creating their own identity, mood, and tone within the collection. There were a few stories that stood out from the rest, while a few others needed some more ‘polishing’ to really make their mark. I do question why some stories seemed to be very YA, while others were more ‘adult’- I feel that it would have been better to keep the anthology to one or the other, all YA, or all more ‘adult’ … which would have made for a more cohesive read/feel. Some of these authors I am familiar with, but a few were new to me, which is always nice to find new works/writers to add to my TBR. Happy Reading…
A great boxset of nine witch (supernatural) tales to give our lives magic. I will give my thoughts on one of these wonderful books: Magical Miri - Miri has been given conflicting stories on magic, her Mother tells them it doesn't exist, while her Grandma insists that it does and they come from a powerful bloodline. After a big fight, between her Mother (Edith) and her Grandma, they move out of their Grandma's place, but they might have moved into danger, seeing Miri doesn't feel as safe at her mother's boyfriend's place as she did with at her Grandma's. What secrets are going to come out? I loved Miri's tale, and her mysterious family.
Although most stories were engaging and interesting, at least half of the novels could have benefited from some serious copyediting or at the very least a thorough proofreading by a professional editor. The repetitive glaring mistakes in grammar, word usage and punctuation were irritating and difficult to ignore. They detracted from the narrative. However, about a third of the books were very polished and an excellent read. Three were painful...I couldn't even finish them. As much as I enjoyed several of the novels presented, I couldn’t give this compilation more than 3 or 3 1\2 because of the unevenness of the overall results.
This is a review for Magical Miri: This is the first book of the Gifted Girls series, the books should be read in order. I really like books where I have to expect the unexpected, where the protagonist is as clueless as I am about what's going on. Miri has been kept in the dark, that's for sure. But whom to trust on her way to finding the truth about magic is the big question. Are the tidbits her granny told true or fairytales? Why didn't she ever feel any power?
I'm looking forward to reading the other books of this bewitching box set.
This was totally amazing bundle if stories. The stories I really enjoyed are: Storm Born regarding a orphaned weather witch. Called good story about soul mates, abuse, control and obsession. Induction very well written and totally enjoyable. Beware of Violet Alice in wonderland type. Prophercy of Three just brilliant amazing book ancient prophercy witches and ancient vampires.
Some of the books are mildly interesting to pretty good, but only 1 captured my interest to continue with book 2 of a series. Unfortunately some of the books are written for a much younger reader, 10-14 year olds, so rather boring to say the least, I expected more adult content, and many of the books had terrible grammatical errors. Since the set was free, I should not complain too much, and it did provide some reading enjoyment.
Witch Ways: 9 Full-Length Novels (and 1 Novella) Featuring Witches, Wizards, Vampires, Shifters, and More! is an awesome set that I have had the privilege to read. This awesome story is written by ten different authors some I have not read before this awesome box set. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about witches vampires, shifters and a lot more cause I loved it.
They were all exciting, fascinating, and page turners. They drew you into each story that you kept turning pages to see what would happen next. Each story was different from the other. I gained new Authors for future books to read. A couple are new Authors that have other books out that you should get to read also.
A good read for people who are in to the series recommend highly can't wait for the next one of the series a really enjoyable read but long still enjoyable read some stories are better than others but enjoyable shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series
Loved the length as I'm fed up with authors who write a chapter then cliffhanger and want plenty of money for it. Having said that some of the stories were YA especially what seemed like a harry Potter rip off. These were full length novels though and could stand alone which was even better. I think they are worth the time
I couldn't believe my luck i loved all 20 stories that never usually happens. All the author's were exceptional they took me to different highs with there writing. I had to literally force myself to stop reading and do other things that needed to be done. Thank you for allowing me the entertainment it was fabulous.
I loved every book in the 20 novels. Can't wait to check more books from these authors. I love reading Christine Pope, she's one of my favorites. Definitely checking out the others too. Can't wait to get to my local library. I love paperback books just as much as I love ebooks.
Four stars just because I had read some of these books. Although i have followed the links to the next books in certain series. A good mix in this box set
A fantastic mix of tales, and although not all will hit my TBR list, this is a great selection of sassy and strong witches that go up against all sorts and manage to come out on top. Some familiar authors along with some new ones....definitely a set to grab and devour!
Some of the stories were good enough that I put their sequels on my reading list. Some were ok - I finished it but won't read another. Some I didn't even make it through chapter 1.
A good collection of first in a series. I have found some new authors that have me interested. Not all. Some I already read and some new that I have already got books to read.😁
Most of the stories are interesting. Some are more oriented to juvenile/young adult. Several grammar/spelling errors, but that is just me. All kept your interest, a couple I wanted over with quickly.
With 20 books, you know you won't love them all. But I enjoyed almost all of the books in this collection! I'm now looking forward to diving into 3 different series based off the books included. Well worth your time!
Each book in this group held my attention to the end. I had only read Christine Pope before and knew I liked her work. Now I have more authors to add to that category!
