It started on a dare. And this mountain man might just lose his heart in the deal.
Birk Lancaster, moved to the small town of Matrimony, Alaska to live the life he had always dreamed of. He wanted to commune with nature, raise a family and build a good life. But, it’s a longstanding joke that there are no women in Matrimony for a man to hook up with—let alone marry. Then, Agnes Hughes blows into town. She’s thick and curvy, with flaming red hair that caught Birk’s attention from the beginning. She’s also a walking train wreck. Everything she touches seems to fall apart. Plus, she’s only stranded in Matrimony. She’s not here to stay. When Birk’s buddies dare him to make Agnes his bride, he thinks they’re crazy. Agnes with the curves for miles, goofy glasses, and shy glances is nothing but chaos. Heck, she’ll burn his whole mountain down in a week. There’s no way it would work. But then, Birk makes a fatal mistake. He kisses her.
This story was 100% heartmelting from start to finish. I freakin adored how clutzy and accident-prone the heroine was, her vulnerable heart and her shy, innocence that belonged only to the hero! The hero was awesome, swooping in and claiming his woman after only a brief resistance. And he wasn’t going to let her go no matter what! That’s what swoon-worthy romance is made of!
SPOILERS/SAFETY DEETS BELOW!!!
Hero’s past isn’t mentioned except to say he’s been celibate for years. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to the hero, no cheating or abuse of any kind, no om or ow drama (a very brief scene where some random woman the hero has NEVER dated tries to make trouble for h), HEA with epilogue a few years out.
This is book one in the Mountain Man series. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it and can't wait to read the sequel.
The Mountain Man's Bad Luck Bride is a story about Agnes and Birk. Agnes has never been anywhere but she finally takes a chance despite her bad luck. Then probably because of her bad luck her transportation fails and she never gets to her destination and instead ends up in Matrimony.
The romance was cute. Birk didn't see our heroine as cursed like everyone else in town and instead found little thing about her sexy like her hair and how she adjusts her glasses. I was a little afraid about the bet part of the synopsis but I worried for nothing.
All in all great read if you enjoy insta love and mountain men who know what they want.
This was the first book by L. Nicole that I've read and it was pretty good. The storyline was cute, but the FMC's insecurities about her weight started to get a little tedious. The writing was good though and the smexy times were hot. Definitely worth trying the next book.
Agnes is having a run of very bad luck, she gets fired, she causes a plane crash and almost burns a boat down. But her bad luck ends when she meets Birk, he’s a mountain man who lives in Matrimony, Alaska, where the plane crash lands. He saves Agnes from the wreckage. He helps her again when she’s kicked out of her hotel, the owner’s worried she’ll cause an accident, Birk offers to take her home. It takes a while but he convinces her he finds her beautiful and they start their relationship. Their sexy tines are hot and steamy, she’s a virgin, he’s been celibate a while. A little drama when one of the ladies in town who wanted Birk to marry her daughter causes Agnes to doubt him. They work it out and each say I love you. Cute epilogues with marriage and kids.

There was a lot I loved about this book. It was super hot. It was well written. The H was pretty perfect. But then there’s the h...I loved how it started off. I thought her bad luck was funny and different. But then it got into her insecurities and they just went on forever. Had she been insecure for less of the book then it would have been no big deal. But I hate when a H has given the h a hundred reasons to trust him and zero reasons not to and I have to continue to listen to the h doubt how he feels about her. It’s annoying. That being said this book has a really great assortment of sex and one of the best first times I’ve ever read. So it still scored high for me.

Agnes ends up in Matrimony, Alaska by accident following some bad luck accidents. During one of the bad luck accidents Birk comes to her rescue and there is an instant attraction. Agnes believe that she truly is cursed and she is destin to have bad luck follower but Birk believes that it is fate that bought her to him. I found this to be an instant love, easy to read story. The story is pretty fast paced. The story flows well and is a great start to the series.
Well Agnes seems to be the epitome of bad luck. That is how she feels. Things do seem to happen for the worst when she is around. Nothing a trip to Alaska can't fix. She is in need of a vacation. The sexy mountain man Birk falls for Agnes hard. He wants a wife and family. His sights are on Agnes. This was such a good story. I love mountain men stories. I even laughed in some parts. Great beginning to a new series.
What a fantastic first book of the series. Birk would never have thought a plant crashing and him rescuing the passenger who turned out to be the love of his life Agnes Agnes has bad luck and the plane crashing was one of them but being rescued by the most handsome man she has seen led her to never leaving Matrimony and putting her bad luck behind her as all she needs is Birk the most possessive, protective and loving man she loves.
Birk and Agnes had such sweet, sexy chemistry that I didn't mind that this was kind of an instalove. I didn't like the townspeople though. They just seemed like backwoods bumpkins. Birk's friends seemed okay and made me curious about their stories. I don't get the new trend to have multiple epilogues, but I'm kinda over it. But how sweet and hot Birk was with Agnes made up for most of the smaller annoyances. It seems like a great way to start the series.
Ohmigosh! Agnes & Birk were the CUTEST! It was such a lighthearted book and I loved how their instant attraction just overwhelmed them both. Agnes was so clumsy and I giggled as much as I cringed as each thing happened to her. L. Nicole did such an amazing job at giving these two a happy ending and tease us readers with Birk's buddies! I'm really looking forward to the next books!!
Birk is super hot, alpha and totally what I love in my heros. Agnes is sweet and quirky and loveable. Together they're a perfect Alaskan mountain man story! Can't wait for Ash's book!
A great start to this new series Matrimony Alaska series. They story flows well, is easy to read. The characters are enjoyable and have great chemistry. Looking forward to see where this series will go. A fun start.
Who knew that having bad luck would turn out to be good luck?
Agnes has terrible luck, in fact a while town thinks she is cursed. Birk, however thinks she is the best thing that ever happened to him cursed or not. These two are going to see what good luck actually looks like.
Wish her personality was a bit less self deprecating. She was so fun until she was with birk then she became this simpering low confidence woman. It was cool at first but then felt overly repetitive and annoying
Absolutely loved this stories I'm a bit of a glutz and completely get Aggie. Girl is the perfect person to make her see what an incredible person she is. I laughed and fell in love with this story.
Well written story and well developed characters! Those are the most important things to me in a book! I couldn't put this book down and read it in just a couple of hours!
I love this quirky witty read, Brick did not know he would fall foe someone like her, who's very accident prone. In this book you will laugh and smile a lot 💫🖤💫
Great story with great characters. L. Nicole always writes wonderful love stories. Each one has a happy ending. This book is one of those stories. Birk and Agnes are perfect for each other. You'll love it too.
Angus Hughes doesn’t have the best of luck. She decides to go on a vacation by herself. The plane crashes while she is on her way to her destination. And that isn’t even the beginning to the bad luck streak she has been on. Now she is stuck in Matrimony Alaska. Birk was intrigued by Angus from the moment he saw her. He doesn’t care that weird things seem to keep happening around her or that the town seems to want her gone before something else happens. Then his friends dare him to ask her out. All it takes in one kiss and Birk is a goner. This book was such a fun read. I can’t wait for more of them. The characters and great and funny. These guys live in this tiny town in Alaska where the men far out number the women. They all seem to want to settle down as well. Great job L. Nicole.
Plot: Poor Aggie just wants a vacation, mostly to get away from her life, where she suffers from one accident after another. Her bad luck follows her to Alaska though, where her luck finally changes when she meets Birk. Birk falls hard and now has to convince Aggie that they're right for each other.
Character development: I love that he fell for her right away, and saw through the "curse" (even though she really was extraordinarily clumsy). The two characters complemented each other well, as they both had insecurities about the way that they looked and the way others perceived them. The story flowed well, with little outside conflict and a focus on the developing relationship rather than any other action-based drama.
Part of a series: Yes, first in a new series
Would I read more from this author/in this series: Yes
This author always writes short and sweet insta-love stories, and I very much enjoyed this one.
Soo cute. This is a great start for a new series. I can’t wait to read the other books in this series especially Rowans. I wonder if he’ll really steal a woman.
