THEY ARE COMING. THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN...
The discovery of objects approaching from Jupiter orbit sets humanity on edge, sending cities into panic. Most is unknown, but thanks to the popular Astral space app, everyone knows the few facts the government has tried to
The objects are enormous spheres numbering in the dozens, maybe hundreds. They are on an approach vector toward Earth … and they will arrive in six days.
Entrepreneur Meyer Dempsey is in New York, realizing the time has come to act on all the preparations he’s made without ever consciously knowing why. For years Meyer has been preoccupied by a dreamlike sense of coming peril and knows where he must take his family … if, that is, they can make it before society eats itself alive with fear.
This relentless, page-turning tale of apocalyptic dawn is the complete collection of the seven books that make up the completed Alien Invasion series.
Avery Blake is obsessed with all things sci-fi. She writes stories about the things that fascinate and occasionally terrify her and the potential futures humanity might have.
She expresses her hopes and fears through gripping tales where everyday people face extraordinary enemies, opportunities, and decisions. Her stories suck the reader into worlds where strange alien races have taken over, tech designed to make our world better gets out of hand, and robots make us question what it means to be human.
You’ll be hard pressed to find Avery, as she’s always on the move, staying one step ahead of the tracking bots (that are coming soon, if not already here).
At the beginning we are introduced to Paper, her husband Meyer, their two teen children Trevor and Lila and, Lilas. Boyfriend Raj.
We are also introduced to Heather, Meyer’s ex wife, that he secretly still sees and has sex with.
Raj seems nice but not really intelligent.
Piper seems smart and devalued by her obnoxious husband
Heather is a moron
Trevor seems like a teen boy, and Lila like an average but pregnant teen girl.
Then they make a run for it, because Meyer in his awesomeness, has built a survival bunker under a secluded home he has built. He’s a gabillionaire genius, ignorant, egotistical thing. He knew this was coming, because he uses a super drug with his ex.
Then it drags along for a few hundred pages, With Meyer pushing everyone around and ignoring everything but what he wants. Typical hijacks, no gas, lose car, steal car, meet trap, lose car, need food, find idiots etc happen and then they make it to their bunker.
Only to find his construction foreman there with two other idiots holding heather hostage.
Now it gets stupid and the same things seem to keep occurring.
Meyer is abducted by aliens because, hes a obnoxious, genius, egotistical pice of crap who gives orders but does what he wants,
And his bunker was ill conceived and easily overthrown
Then it gets stupider.
The whole thing seems to just keep repeating and then book one ends.
Book two to seven are worse, the baby is born with no information, she just two years old all of a sudden and is of course a special genius.
Anyway. I tried to like it but didn’t. Glad I only read it when I was stuck in waiting rooms and before bed. If I’d given up and sunshine for this mess I’d be angry.
I had seriously high hopes for this series, but after the first chapter, I realized those hopes were quickly dashed. Way too many characters were injected right off the bat and I had no hope of keeping track of who's who. Someone got a hummer at senior prom, but I couldn't figure out who was the giver and who was the receiver. And on it went. Who the heck is this person, and who is that one?
I made it through about 5 of the 7 books. The first book is terrific; I loved the details of the characters' flight from civilization. The second book was also good. From there on, however, the books grind along with more and more of the same plot. The author is very good at getting inside of the characters' heads; however, after several hundred pages, it leaves you wishing for more action and less thinking.
I thought the book got quite boring towards the end, with lots of side issues happening that did not concern the story. But, I did like the final ending.
I found this book on here on Amazon as I searched for anything relating to an alien invasion.
This was a little hard to get into at first, as I didn’t understand what was going on and wasn’t sure I liked the main character. But that only lasted a few pages. The premise is gripping. Alien space ships have been spotted heading to earth and they will reach it in six days. It’s then a tense-filled journey for Meyer to get his family to safety.
Overall, this is an exciting read and I couldn’t put it down. Every opportunity I wanted to read as every chapter was a countdown to day the UFOs arrived. All the time hoping the family made it to their destination. My heart was in mouth most of the time. Fantastic book, and I’ve immediately downloaded the next one. I recommend it.
The version I read was the Kindle version on Amazon that lists one of the authors as Avery Blake rather than Sean Platt.
This was an interesting series of books but I found it frustrating to follow the timeline sometimes. There was also jumps in time where things were omitted which were later referred to (such as the first visit to Roman Sands). The timeline at the end of the series was also confusing as days suddenly became years. This didn't work for me. In places the story also dragged. It was definitely a marathon to read them one after the other as I did.
Note that this series of books cannot be read as standalone stories as they just would not make sense
Are they our friends or enemies. It doesn’t take long to answer that question!
This series is better than Any invasion story I have read it takes history, legends, the Bible and mixes it into a fantastic riveting story. If they had more stars I would have given a nine to this series.
Thoroughly enjoyed this boxed set. Well developed characters, some likeable and some not.
Kept me entertained all the way through. Characters were recognizable humans. Aliens were interesting as was their tech. Will be looking for other books by this team.
It has been a long road to get to the end of this book series...some books were better than others (as is usually the case)...but a very front-end thought provoking ending made it all worthwhile!
I love post apocalyptic novels/series and this was no exception. Action almost from the start that just kept on going. A lot of surprises on who leaves the story, just when you were really getting to like them. A must read for Alien Invasion lovers!
This was A great read. Millions of people Were killed by the A steals one Percent were saved go start over. But the A steals never left. Great read but some times a little confusing
This story started good. I was interested in the beginning but in the latter books I lost my interest. In the end I was making myself finish. Others may even enjoy this.
