Hollywood Propaganda: How TV, Movies, and Music Shape Our Culture

Rate this book
Films and television shows aren’t just entertainment. They are powerful vehicles that influence social and political trends, ultimately shaping the very fabric of our culture. Because of this potential, there are various agencies which work behind the scenes in Hollywood to harness these forces for their own aims or those of their clients.

Few people outside the industry are aware that such agencies exist and are hired by advocacy groups to lobby studios, writers, and producers in order to get their ideas inserted into plots of popular works.

These Hollywood lobbyists have been instrumental in successfully paving the path for same-sex marriage to become legal, destigmatizing abortion, encouraging mass immigration, and sounding the alarm about climate change; all under the cloak of mere “entertainment.”

More recently we’ve seen these same powers levied against President Trump, his supporters, and used to demonize “white privilege” as an invisible enemy that’s supposedly around every corner.

Even sports and late-night comedy shows are employed for political causes, violating the once unwritten cardinal rules of their industries. In this groundbreaking work, media analyst Mark Dice details the true power of entertainment and proves how it is being used to wage a psychological war against the world.

The book got banned by Amazon after making it to number 3 on the best sellers list. Banned because the liberal ran company didn't like the fact the book points out facts about Hollywood Propaganda and things they do to try and "train" its citizens. I've never liked celebrities anyways, most of them are fake, alcoholic drug addicts who cry when they dont get their way, but this just goes to show that they are all indeed brainless zombies who expect you to do what they say and push because they're "famous". Ricky Gervais said it best to them; "You have no idea how the real world operates and you are in no position to tell people how to live." Mark Dice is a better author and commentator than most MSM news "journalists" lol

His best book yet!!!

A really thorough and eye opening exploration of what Hollywood poisons our minds with on a daily basis. Mark is a wonderful author and this is the fourth book of his that I have read, the other three being "The True Story of Fake News", "Liberalism: Find a Cure" and "The Liberal Media Industrial Complex".

I liked this book overall. Mark Dice provides many examples of how Hollywood has used its power to influence people. Even though I enjoyed this book, I thought that some chapters were just lists of the plots of various movies and T.V. shows. The author could have increased the effectiveness of the book by adding details on how these examples of media fit together as a whole to support his thesis. All in all, I think that this is a book worth taking the time to read.

This is a deeply partisan book but oh so needed. Reads like a Steve Sailer blog post in long form.

Mark Dice's heart is in the right place. The information is solid and nicely sourced.

The issue I have with this book is that I can not figure out who the audience is. Why was the book written?

He discusses the various Hollywood projects that have undermined basic American values. In all fairness, lets look at the target audiences. Right wing conservatives and old school liberals will pretty much understand that Hollywood has an agenda that is anathema to everything American. They won't need to read the book, they already know it. SJWs, so called progressives, do not have the ability to process information that does not agree with their agenda, so they will treat it as a vampire treats sunlight.

" Their traitorous trueness, and their loyal deceit."
He is telling it as it is. He's the only one brave to talk about the Bohemian Grove. He's got the receipts. He's talking about freedom of speech. Wait, what's this? He's quoting an article from Salon? He's deleting comments that are against his narrative? What happened to the freedom of speech? Nothing. He just cares about his narratives. He's very much concerned about alleged Nazi in Ukraine, but couldn't care less about Ukrainian women and children being murdered and raped. Have you heard him say anything about it? I haven't. He's almost gleeful in his support of Russians, and he says he's not allowed to talk about "real reasons" why Russia has invaded Ukraine. We're all know those "reasons" and nobody buys them (the real reason was 2024 election, of course). It seems to me, and of course I'm a very biased person here, and I hope you can cut me some slack since, well next time I might not be able to get to the bomb shelter in time.
I won't post any pictures here, but describe one. There's a girl with a torn arm. She doesn't have family anymore, they're all dead. She's an orphan? You know what her dream is? A pink prosthetic bedecked with flowers.
What it has to do with the book? Well, how you can trust a word from the man to whom his narrative is more important than the truth? He's using Salon articles when it serves his purpose, when it doesn't, he just mocks how stupid those outlets are.
Okay, let's talk about Nazis for a moment. If memory serves, there were some neo-Nazi and white supremacists at Charlottesville. So now the US is the neo-Nazi country? Of course, not. What about Azov. Well, they have a symbol that, to this snake oil salesman, reminds of a swastika. Have you never seen real swastika on Buddhist temples? Nobody denies that there are neo-Nazi in Ukraine as everywhere in the world and nobody likes them.
Can you explain to me, Mr. Dice, why you never mention the fact that Zelenskyy is Jewish and that his grandparents were victims of the Holocaust? I can answer that - you don't care about the truth, only about your narrative.
Oh, and for some reasons, he made our President woke. Really?
And that "hateful," "authoritative" left are showing great compassion and is really helping my country. And conservatives would pick up any stories, if it is sensational, scandalous or if they can use it against the left... they never check its authenticity or why this or that thing is happening (hint - some powers don't want collapse of Russia, so at first there were "secret" biolabs, then NATO-trained birds, now neo-Nazis in Ukraine, then they will make up something else).
It's not just Mark Dice. It's like all conservative pundits (and I've been following them for years) feel that they have an opposing view that liberals have. So, if Mila Kunis, Stephen King, Ashton Kutcher, Joan, Rowling, Sting and other people on the left are supporting Ukrainians then they should support, for some reasons, Russians. Because, Putin has a point, right? He's been warning about NATO bases for twenty years. That nuclear arsenal is too close to its borders. Wow. First, wouldn't invading Ukraine bring those NATO bases to his borders and second, the US already has submarines that can carry the same task of launching nuclear strikes. They don't need NATO bases for that.
I'm sorry if my writing is messy. You know, three weeks of non-stop stress can do that to you.

4.5/5

The only reason this is not a 5 star rating is because it really felt like you were extremely harsh towards the LGBT related subject. Before anybody gets offended, you should have a minimal capacity to be impartial here. Make no mistake, I completely and strongly agree with the fact that the propaganda pushed by Hollywood (which is the main subject of the book) and by the most aggressive leftists is poisonous, but you know, at the end of the day there are also ordinary people who are not all extremists or crazy, and that's something you yourself fail to acknowledge due to your own bias on the issue. Mentioning that you refuse to recognize same-sex "marriage" is alright (let's suppose), but don't forget that everybody in society contributes by paying taxes, and this should explain everything.
Don't forget that there is a certain amount (although considerably small) of gays and lesbians that are republicans, if you ever dared imagine that and it's not me saying it. Again, I highly doubt ordinary people are that crazy. I think a minimum amount of recognition and acceptance should be offered to the segment that is decent and fair (not the degenerate parades); let alone the historical and cultural contributions of brilliant examples, but since the focus is now on Hollywood, that's fine. Such arguments can be dismissed at this point.

This is what I don't like when both parties fail to keep things in balance. I believe republicans should be more understanding (although not given many reasons to be so, especially nowadays), while liberals should stop the extremist agenda that's funneled into our brains, which makes the whole thing disgusting, to say the least.

Balance is key :)

Other than that, an extremely well-documented book with plenty of examples and explanations. I'll definitely check out the others as well.
Thanks a lot for the myriad of movie references. I've got plenty to watch now! :D

Oh the irony - Hollywood raking in the billions while disparaging capitalism... Welcome to the modern woke America.

Enter Mark Dice who is a great commentator on what ails US today- clear, concise and to the point.

"Since the Leftists are trying to overthrow the United States of America and replace our Republic with a socialist dictatorship they are heavily promoting illegal immigration, demonizing the police, and are relentlessly attacking American culture, customs, symbols, and holidays. This is all too obvious today, but back in the late 1940s and early 50s there were widespread concerns about communists and communist sympathizers working in Hollywood who may use their positions to do just that." (p.49)

And...

"Basically, the communists planned to cause cultural chaos by encouraging Americans to embrace socially toxic ideas they knew would ultimately lead to self-destruction down the road." (p. 50)

And, obviously it worked! If this strikes you as extreme and out of touch then either you haven't been paying attention to Hollywood (and the MSM) since the 50s (what was hidden and subversive then is full blown and unabashed today) or you're in the woke activist camp and this book will only piss you off and increase your already pathological hysteria. But if you've just had your head in the sand and haven't yet recognized the fruits of the ongoing 140 year Fabian Socialist revolution then this book may be just the anti-toxic tonic you need. And if you already know what's going on then it's certainly another recommended interesting and entertaining read from Dice.

Hollywood has sunk into the mud bottom of the swamp. “Hollywood Propaganda” exposes a litany of social engineering gone berserk.
It is hard to watch any show or movie without thinking how batshit crazy Hollywood has become. The subtitle of this book should read – “abandon hope all ye who enter here.” It makes you wonder if there is any hope for future civilization. Most sensible adults have given up on the mainstream media Hollywood style. But when you hide your head in the sand you abdicate your duty to stop the evil.
If you are in the group who have not yet given up the fight for decency and honor in entertainment, then you should read this book to arm yourself with knowledge. Your grandchildren are depending on you.

This book gives an insight into the dark side of Hollywood. This side seems not to meet much resistance, e.g. in the form of criminal prosecution, when e.g. artists, actors or directors say or claim something they have done or been accused of, or certain misdeeds that they've committed and come up to the surface with. The book gives an insight into the industry's teasing relationship with equality, not only between men and women, but between blacks, whites, yellows, browns, etc..., between transgender people, homosexuals, binaries and heterosexuals, etc. Here we see different directions fight for their case to get Hollywood and other entertainment agencies to give into the pressure to inlude everyone to a more or less equal degree, even if films that resort to this often turns out to flop at Box Office.

Now, I've not seen that many of the Hollywood films that are mentioned in the book, although I have both heard of several of them and the actors and directors who are mentioned. It still gives an insight into how much has really happened in recent years in this area , how they proclaim perversities as the new normal. The sexual revolution is not only seen on film, but also behind the scenes, everything from incest, pedophilia and other perversities are carried out, as if it were a normal thing, perhaps a bit exaggerated but not far from the truth.

Although Mark Dice comes up with a lot of interesting, but at the same time a lot of startling and horrible things that take place behind and in front of the camera, I think the author could also have brought out some positive aspects, because the book can be a bit too gloomy. But, perhaps that is the author's intention with the book, that the reader opens his eyes to what many people fill themselves with and how we are easily influenced by what we see and hear. Yes, Hollywood is a dirty industry, but instead of painting it completely black, he could've highlighted a few more positive things as well. What about the Christians in Hollywood? Those who make Christian films? Those who are a light in the darkness? He's not into that area as much. The book also becomes a kind of summary, although Dice discusses something more deeply, he could've gone more in depth about the evidence that exists for the more attention-grabbing episodes that he brings up. But then of course the book would also have been a good deal longer, so I understand the limitation. All in all, we get interesting inside information from Hollywood, and maybe a little warning when we choose which films to watch or which music to listen to?

A barrage of truth against the lies of Hollywood and the Left.

Mark does not hold back in detailing the perversion and filth emanating from Hollywood, the liberal Left and the mainstream networks.
As always, his facts are backed up with source references, something the Left will never do. Mark is an independent journalist and as such is not beholden or swayed by the filth of the Left.
If you are allergic to truth and having your eyes opened to onslaught of perversity that is Hollywood and the mainstream media, this is not the book for you.

Mark pulls no punches and the truth of what is being hidden by the gaudy glitz and glamor of Hollywood, the perversions of mainstream actors and actresses as they lecture us on their twisted morality, will prepare you to protect your children and loved ones.
Thanks Mark for being a voice of truth.

I decided to read this book because of the upcoming election. In a swiftly changing society, where sin, immorality, and wrong-doing is embraced, it’s important to remain vigilant in the ever changing world. This book opened my eyes to the anti-Trump agenda, the disgusting secrets of Hollywood, and the massive corruption in the democratic government. Unfortunately, the author is right about America being destroyed like Rome was. God will not tolerate such wickedness much longer. Praise God for powerful people like Mark Dice, Donald Trump, Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk, and many many more people who aren’t afraid of speaking out the truth. We must not be silenced when we see how the government is propagating their evil agendas. The truth will always win! God is light and in Him is no room for darkness!!!

So you think you're unique? Maybe you think you're a special blend of admirable self-guided qualities that come from your own unique generation. Think again. There is nothing within American culture that hasn't been planned and decided for you. The sources within this book are easily "fact-checkable". Learning about the behind the scenes special interest lobbying groups that push agenda into our culture cause nothing but manufacted, premeditated "paradigm shifts". Its sicker than we want to believe. No main stream movie or piece of pop culture goes unscathed by our industry goals anymore. P.S.: this book is not for the faint of heart. It includes pedos, disturbing accounts, and pro incest perspectives from individuals within Disney.

Mark Dice's videos are very entertaining, but they destill an overarching, serious message. His books are in-depth analyses of societal phenomena, and as such they are very informative. This book is no exception: it cites various examples of how the entertainment industry shapes our perceptions of the world, mainly through surreptitious but pervasive means. As all of Dice's books, it is extremely well-sourced.
The only criticism I have is that I already knew a large portion of the aspects detailed in the book from his videos, but even so I learned many things and found very interesting facts. Dice's writing style is very relatable and readable. Great book!

An Eye Opener

I always felt that what we saw in movies, TV Series, news and the music we hear seems to be leftist propaganda. This book confirms my conclusion with thousands of pieces of evidence. When did Americans become so unAmerican and their support for things which are simply wrong by common sense analysis is beyond my understanding. The author has done an excellent job exposing what is really going on in Hollywood. This book was worth every penny. I learnt a lot. Thank you!

An important read!

Mark Dice has once again given freedom loving americans a concise a d well written arguement to use against the left.

As with his other works, his impeccable research pays dividends for his readers. We can be assured that the information is truthful since his extensive footnotes allow us to independently verify it (unlike the fake news media that expect us to just take them at their words--even if our eyes can see their lies).

The book reveals a lot of the mechanisms behind all the stories the media promotes- in television sitcoms, movies, news, music. It shows how the culture itself has changed due to the influence of the media and celebrities. Values and morals have changed. The only reason I docked 1 star is because I already knew most of this information, due to watching Mark Dice channel and due to my own studies of culture and history. But yeah, it's a good informative book!

Truthful Reading

Insightful, informative and truthful. After reading this, my thoughts were: Why is this tsunami of political correctness, and yet degrading white straight people, and condoning immoral behavior become the social norm? American life and prosperity for the common working person now is like walking on egg shells. Need more writers like Mike Dice that write the truth and not care what the woke mob thinks.

Very well-researched book with citations on every page. Mark Dice describes scenes in movies and TV to give examples of the types of propaganda that were used, which helps if you never saw the scene before, don't remember it, or didn't catch the propaganda when you first watched it. He pulls up information from interviews as well. Many times, I found myself pausing to watch a clip or music video that he mentioned. Very interesting book-now I want to read more authored by him.

Former leftist

I grew up and still live in the Twin Cities and school in Karensota, that area around the 494 and 694 interchange which consists of 80% Karens and Kevins. Tim Walz and Amy Klochar are perfect examples of this it wasn't until my friends from Anime Detour no less who clued me in on how horrible the Mainstream Media, Public Schools and half the people in my area really are.

Mark Dice did not disappoint. Hollywood Propaganda is very well researched and he points out many events that have taken place over the last several years and has showed how it applies to the different topics included in the book. For instance, I did not know Planned Parenthood has a media branch that lobbies Hollywood.

A Well Researched Insightful Read

Been a fan of Mark Dices videos for a while and finally gave in to reading his books. A very insightful read that has open my eyes to what Hollywood has been trying to shove down our throats. What makes this book even more great is that footnotes have been left to the topics he discusses that way you can see for yourself and do your own research
