The Marino’s One of the most powerful Mafia Families in the entire world. They don’t just run countries they run continents. And they are lead by one man. A powerful, ruthless and psychotic man. Mateo Marino. A Feared and Respected man across the Mafia World mostly known for his ruthless ways. No one dares to stand in his way
Zoe the girl who didn’t even know she was so close to danger, had no idea whom exactly had set their sights on her. By the blink of an eye her life completely changed over night. Mateo turned her world upside down. She didn’t ask for any of this neither did she want it but she had no choice because Mateo had already decided that she was his. He had already chosen his Queen. Whether she liked it or not there was no escaping Mateo Marino.
DNF. The writing.... I guess I was warned, but still, the quality of writing is atrocious. This goes way beyond an editor getting their hands on this book. It reads like it was written by someone without even rudimentary understanding of grammar and punctuation. There are apostrophe catastrophes on every page and the run-on sentences without any attempt at punctuation. Not to mention the juvenile tone and lack of any sort of research. I mean, the heroine is supposed to be a surgeon yet she speaks like she didn't finish high school. I'm amazed at the 5 star reviews, but to each his own...
I’m on the 1st page and it has 4 short paragraphs - within these 4 paragraphs the word/letter ‘I’ has been used 22 times.
I this, I that, I I I I I!!!!! If this is your jam more power to you but I can’t read something that’s so childishly written. It surprises me how many high reviews this book has received.
I didn’t want it to end. Mateo is quite literally the most evil MMC I’ve ever read, and that’s saying something. This isn’t a regular lovey romance, it’s very dark and toxic. They do end up together because she really has no other option. He put her through HELL. Up until the very last pages of the book. I can’t even count how many times he was close to killing her but didn’t, because that would be to easy and he didn’t want her to leave him even in death. He’s scary dangerous and super evil. I loved Zoe, she was so strong and being in her mind through the abuse was like I was there feeling it with her. He made her completely dependent on him by pure fear. Great book. The typos are really not that bad and pretty easy to look over.
**If the below is too long, here is a summed up version. Zoe spends about 95% of the book getting her a** B E A T. This is an abuse story. There is no love. Mateo and he sick brothers are no ones fantasy.
I get that editors can be expensive but I've never seen someone spelled the word, "off", wrong so many times. It makes it worse because I am a 1st grade teacher. The lack of editing has to be a social experiment.
I read until 13%, went to look back at the reviews and then skipped to 92%. As everyone else has stated, the storyline is repetitive.
The actual blurb:
Zoe is told something. Zoe ignores it. Zoe gets beat within an inch (really centimeter) of her life. Zoe apologizes. Zoe passes out. And Repeat.
Mateo shows loveless obsession. Mateo gets mad at Zoe. Mateo eyes turn gray with anger and he smiles. Mateo beats Zoe like he's the son of Manson and Mayweather. Mateo acts like nothing happens. And Repeat.
I love a good dark romance but this was just women getting their a** whooped into the grave by men that belonged under the psychiatric ward. Even when I skipped down to 92% she was STILL getting her a** whooped.
Good story. One chapter repeated itself. Story was very long and I was glad to see the end. Author does have promise and my curiosity was spiked with the side stories in the book. Would read the twins story from the book if she published. Hopefully she finds some ARC readers and someone to edit.
I feel like this author had the right ingredients for a good dark romance, but something was a miss. The book read like torture porn and the plot was weird. I would give this author another go because there is some potential.
The writing and grammar are absolutely horrible. Couldn’t get passed the first pages of repetitive, redundant text and all the sentence splicing. The first pages could have been one paragraph with what was stated over and over. DNF.
I read this years ago on wattpad when I was in highschool. Now I’m 25, wondering How the hell did I read this. I ate this down in highschool now… I cant understand how I really liked this. it was a lot then and it’s definitely a lot now 😭😭😭
Okay. This book gave what it was supposed to give. I could not put it down. Super dark, super hawt and super addicting. Would have been 5 stars, need some in-depth editing and had a lot of reputation. Nonetheless amazing book, 100% recommend.
Mateo would be dead or S'Nazo and Salvador would be dead. Love would not exist in any of this. Gifts no matter how grand or how beautiful there would be no love.
There would be nothing but hate that exists.
The physical abuse and mental abuse were too much!! No love!!
The rape was unacceptable. Who can love a person like Mateo.
His sisters were OMG - hate. Even Telo would be off the table. So much trauma.
I wanted her to die just to spite Mateo. I wanted him to suffer because he didn't love S'Nazo. She was his object not his wife just his concubine nothing more nothing less.
I wanted him to kill her mother so she could be out of her misery or I would have loved for her to lose her mind completely because then it would have been better for him. No matter what he said she was his calm but if she'd died or became a vegetable mentally then he'd gone mad as well.
3⭐️ Very dark, Str8 abuse throughout, the MMC is no Hero and is very dark and hits FMC at all times. Yes the formatting and grammatical issues are a lot. An editor would have been a benefit to the story.
Spoiler: FMC just gets use to it and that’s the HEA. MMC does not have a redeemable quality at all! I love me some dark romance but I would t say this is a romance because the MMC doesn’t love her he’s OBSESSED with her.

This is an unrelentingly dark 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶tale of a young trauma surgeon Zoe (S'nazo) who had the horrific misfortune to catch the attention of mafia don Mateo Marino; & is def. not for the faint of heart, so heed the trigger warnings!!!! I read the reviews , most of which criticizes Zoe for her emotional reactions to being held captive by a 💯lethal alpha psychopath. Yes, it is true that many of her decisions clearly fits TSTL with extremely weak survival aptitude 😥, for which she earns multiple near death, extremely cruel retribution at the hands of Mateo😱! It is equally true that no woman who was snagged by an unrepentant psychopath with massive power, connections & resources, who send people to the after life without a single drop of remorse, could do better! This line in the author's epilogue succinctly captures the MCs "In the almost four years that we have been together Mateo is still Mateo. Evil and unpredictable." If you love dark romance, is not easily triggered, ignore the complaining, whining , reviews & enjoy the 📚🍷
5Million Stars...because I re-read it SO many times... I started reading this book in wattpad and I’ve been obsessed since then. Im a sucker for dark books and this book gave me more than I could ever want in a book. And before you come at me about the grammar errors I KNOW OKEY I know there are mistakes but I honestly don’t give a fly because English it’s not my first language and I understand that the author my have some problems with it. Spoilers🚨🚨
Anyway back to our book, let’s start with our hero Mateo …. listen…when I tell you I had to pause every single time this man came you won’t believe me. I could feel his dark energy in my whole body, for starters he is a pice of shit but I still kinda like him and I feel so bad for liking him. This man is a bipolar, one second he is smiling the next second he is chopping someone’s head off, and that is nothing compared to what he does to our lovely heroine Zoe( S’nazo), honestly I don’t know how to describe him “ brutal, VERY POSSESSIVE, Obsessed, psycho, insane, but when he wanted he would be romantic ONLY towards the heroine. There are parts that were disturbing, he forced the h to take a maid’s body parts and her family body parts ( cause Mateo likes to go after the whole family), put it in some bucket and than throw the body parts in fire just because the maid helped her to get some birth controls, and then proceeded to beat the living shit out of her because she tried to leave him, and when he was about to kill her she told him that she is pregnant and that’s how her life is saved. He is not a man who will change because he fell in love, Mateo is the same from the start to the end and this is why I love this book.
“ I thought I made it clear that if she wanted to die she would run from me and she did. So I decided to kill her. I’m a man of my word.” “ MATEO”
Zoe (S’nazo)…. This girl has a death wish, sometimes she was so stupid that if I could I would go in there and give her a pice of mind, but even tho she was stupid sometimes, I felt bad for her the whole book, she was so kind and she didn’t deserve any of the things that came to her, she was just a doctor living her life and suddenly everything crashed down all because of that bish Saraphina, I would love to see her suffer the same way Zoe did.
Apart from the disturbing parts I literally love the good side of the book, especially after Zoe got pregnant and she made Mateo go take all the things that she craved for, It went as far as he had to go to another country to get a dish from a specific chef. And let’s not forget the part where she gets kidnapped and the girl is mad at him because he was late to rescue her.
This book is really disturbing and if you can’t handle Dark books please don’t read it, this is really really dark.
I really can’t wait for the author to publish the story of Yasmine and Miguel Nicholas - Telo And for the love of God the book of Maddox - Lerato- Malachi

Before I talk about this book, I need to say that my rating has nothing to do with the quality of the story itself. Mateo Marino is an absolute monster — sadistic, psychotic to the core, twisted beyond redemption. A man rotten down to the marrow. ⭐⭐⭐ simply because this book trapped me inside its darkness and refused to let me go. I kept hoping for a different ending… but life isn’t fair, and neither was this story. It felt like a Scottish shower — one moment ice cold, the next burning hot — and when you no longer have the power to choose, sometimes all that’s left is learning how to survive the evil surrounding you… until it reshapes you into something else entirely. We follow Zoe, a Black surgeon from South Africa who moves to Mexico hoping to build a better future and a successful career. But fate drags her straight into the orbit of the Marino family — a mafia dynasty powerful enough to own entire countries. After attending a dinner party hosted by her friend Cottelo, she meets Mateo Marino, and from that moment on her life is no longer hers. “You are mine, and there is nothing you can do to change that.” At first, she fights him. She resists. But fear, bloodshed, and the mountain of corpses Mateo leaves behind slowly force Zoe to understand the terrifying truth: no matter where she runs, no matter how hard she tries to escape… she never truly had a chance. This is not a soft dark romance. This is DARK dark romance — brutal, violent, deeply disturbing, filled with abuse, obsession, and psychological torment. A story where the heroine is consumed by a world she cannot escape from. And somehow… that’s exactly what made it impossible to stop reading.
1. There could have been about 50 pages less of pregnancy food cravings. 2. Buy a dictionary so you can use the correct word. Violet is a color. A person doesn’t get violet and kill someone. There were many misuses of words. 3. Grammarly is free. 4. No one takes the kinds of beatings, shootings, drowning and in a coma for a month, crying constantly, living in abject fear of the husband yet tremble because he was hot. 5. No man can have intercourse for hours without stopping. 6. No woman can have sex for hours without stopping. 7. Not one time was Zoe concerned about the monster who was their father beating and attempting to kill their children. 8. Stop saying the same thing 3-4 times in a row. It’s a sad attempt to fill space and takes away from any plot. I really don’t like to leave bad reviews so understand this is my opinion. I found the book had not even a passing acquaintance with reality. I’ve read the 2 books the author wrote. I’m done. 2 stars is for the effort only
Is this a joke? No for real, tell me I won't even get mad. This must be a joke, right? IT'S A MF JOKE, ALL RIGHT!
My first language is not even English but by reading this book I believe I can write better than a supposed "author"! How embarrassing 🙈🤕 to come out with a book this badly written, like can you believe the nerve of this "author"?
I'm not talking about the story here and I won't even comment on it because people usually like to read and understand what the fuck the shit they are reading says but because of editing problems (meaning no editing AT ALL) the story loses every purpose and meaning. Do you know what makes me so fucking mad, though?
I usually read the sample on Amazon before buying the book BUT this time I was thinking about buying the book without reading the sample BECAUSE OF THE GOOD COMMENTS I SAW 💀
I'm so happy I stuck to my routine and downloaded the sample first because I would be suing Amazon for lost money otherwise AND I'M NOT EVEN JOKING HERE 😵
If this book had an editor i would have given 4 starts for sure. -Mateo is straight evil, zero redeeming qualities. -Zoe was a decent character but definitely had some annoying traits -i hated the “friend”, Telo, the most. She was the worst kind of friend. She would say how worried and sick she was about Zoe’s treatment but then scamper away when Mateo would show up. And she kept saying everything would be ok, wth nothing was ok -i didnt get the introduction of Mateos family members, they added nothing to the story -worst part for me is when she ran away and ended up at meagans house. She is dancing around and forgets that her kidnapping psychopath stalker is hunting her? Someone knocks and she opens the door like a moron. -the editing …..good lord it was bad. -1/3 of the book just been deleted straight away -my punctuation is bad but after this i can easily put a book out, i have several ive never posted
GURLLLL!! This book has me ALL messed up! You were not kidding when you warned that this was NOT the typical HEA!!
From the very beginning. I became nervous when this young doctor chose to practice medicine in Mexico. Then she is best friends with a nice young lady for years but has no clue who this girl and her family are. Her friend kept her away from her family because she knew what would happen. She protected her friend. She had no clue that she was best friends with a mafia princess and that the men of the family were all powerful and psychotic!
You helped to give a more realistic perspective of what being the object of desire for a mafia boss would most likely look like. It’s scary as heck and there is no escaping for you!!
The way that Mateo could look into her eyes and become peaceful one moment, yet become so maniacally cruel and remain calm throughout is scary as heck!! She is his peace and his world, yet he also knows that she is there under duress. Mateo is like, “And?! I giving you a choice. Stay with me and live or even make an attempt and everyone that you know and love dies before you! And you will still be mine.” Like hunny, I am personally terrified, and this is about you!
The entire book was… him saying not to do something… her doing that exact thing… him punishing her for doing the thing he told her not to do… her asking why why why is she being punished. 😂🤣 it would have been zero stars, but the book was so long and after a while it became funny at how many ways the author can write the same scenario (see above) over and over again. You can tell this was a Wattpad book when out the blue and for no reason what so ever the heroine says she love him... no build up… no basis for that love… just full on Wattpad I love him glory. I decided since I was entertained for a few nights and giggled at the stupidity of it all, it deserved some stars.
She cries sooo much! I don't think there was a line in this book where she wasn't crying.. you heard me, LINE not paragraph. She cried soo much it became unbearable for me. Isn't a quality of a surgeon/doctor that they're able to do well under pressure? Mateo walked into her house and she started crying...
The beginning of the book was so good. Plot was good etc., and then it really lost its way. At one point I started liking Mateo more than Zoe. I actually just wanted him to kill her so she could please stop annoying us with the crying and whining. Why is she behaving like a complacent adolescent by the end of the book? 🥲
It’s a rollercoaster filled with a lot of emotions which can make this book feel heavy to read and make you want to take a break but at the same time you want to just keeping reading to find out more😈. This book is not for everyone only the people that can handle and like dark/intense/violent books. Dark Mercy is no cliché or fairytale says “The Cruel Mateo”. It’s original and good in its own way. Any who good dark and psychological book👏🏾😘.
If you can disregard the lack.of editing, this gem is amazing!
Wow! Just wow! I can't explain how dark, unforgiving, and amazing this book is on every level in this genre!
This story is long and there are tons of editing issues. However, the story is so good, I happily overlooked the editing issues such as grammar and misspelled words.
This story is super dark and does not have a traditional HEA. Adhere to ALL warnings. They are in place for a reason.
Five stars because of the story! If the story weren't amazing, it will be a 2 star review.
WOW! I am so glad I finished it and didn't left it unfinished or I would have missed this amazing book. You know those mafia romance writers when they write that their MMC is feared by everyone. No! Those men were not feared by everyone, Mateo Marino was feared by everyone! He was the representation of the 'most feared man of the country'. Ah! The things that man did. *swoon* Man, this author's imagination is wild! She just gave me what I wanted, in this book! The writing needs a little practice and editing, but she is my new favourite. Definitely going to read more of her books in future.
- Rape ✅ - Physical, Emotional & Verbal Abuse ✅ - Murder and Gore ✅ - Forced relationship & marriage ✅ - Kidnapping ✅ - Women and Children Trafficking ✅ - BBS ✅ - Stockholm Syndrome ✅ - Attempted Murder against gf/spouse ✅
This book was written so poorly. Definitely needed an editor, was all over the place, didn’t know who was talking half of the time. Not sure how this book got 4 star ⭐️ ratings. Read at your own risk that’s for sure!
NOTE: - His Dark Mercy by Amethyst Moonn (Mexican maf!a don becomes obsessed with sisters best friend claims her as his without her consent, @buse, Somme noncon some dubcon but not all scenes there is consent also, k!dnapping, forced marriage, pregnancy, eventually he “softens” he’s still a really bad person, also I think this was originally a Reddit story and got published I don’t think the author is English speaking so you do have to get past some bad editing here and there and sometimes the sentence flow is off bc you can tell English ain’t the first language. Eventual HEA.
My most darkest book ever read!!! Honestly wasn't going to read this book at first but I said to myself, lemme just read a few pages and then I was hooked. The only thing wrong with this book is the bad editing, I think the author had a good story in mind but the editing, placement and arrangement is just so bad, sometimes you get double the same page/chapter you have read before in the next turn, the author had so many ideas that everything was all over the place which makes her lacks of concentration. If you can get past the editing problem, you will enjoy reading this book like I did.
