I found the author to be a kind and loving presence throughout this book. He is relatable and likeable. Unfortunately, his plan to beat shame is light on content and packed with an absolutely exhausting number of analogies. It made reading mentally tiring at times. I really enjoyed the Bible stories used as examples though and wish there had been more.
If you are already a practicing Christian, this short book may be more useful than if you are new to a religious journey, especially if you have the support of like-minded friends, as the plan suggests. I can tell the topic of shame is close to the author’s heart and appreciate his honesty: I had just hoped for a bit more practical help with tackling it.

Good, easy to read, and to the point. I found the scripture and commentary helpful, but sometimes felt like it was a little too surface level. Would have loved to explore a lot of elements on a deeper level.
