Read for my toddler's bedtime. Mama Bear prayed to God for a baby bear and she got him. At every step of his growing up she always pray to God for guidance. Her prayers rhyme.
What an adorable book! Unlike the last few children’s books I’ve reviewed, this one is hard-cover a jacket and paper pages.
The illustrations are soft, pencil drawings of a mama bear and her cub. They are very relaxing to look at—and remind me of some of my favorite childhood books as well.
Each page-spread has both a message of “when I prayed for you” and a little prayer to go along with it. It is very sweet, going from the time that the cub was an infant to his early childhood. For me, it is a book just as precious to a mother as to the child, as it will remind the mom to pray during these different points of life.

I loved it. Pictures are colorful and clear. The story transitions from birth to child and a mother’s continuing pray for her child in everything is absolutely beautiful.
A Spirited, Heartfelt Story of Raising a Child with God at the Center
I Prayed for You is an adorable and charmingly designed children’s book that blends storytelling with additional rhyming prayers. In this touching tale, Mama Bear shares stories with her child about the fervent prayers she said during each stage of his life.
The story begins with the affectionate words: “Before you were born, I asked God for something special. I asked Him for you.” Each page then captures a cherished memory as the child grows, from holding her baby for the first time to his first steps, his first prayer, and beyond.
The book is uniquely structured. Mama Bear’s warm recollections and her sincere rhyming prayers, are infused with gratitude and trust in God, subtly teaching parents and children the importance of prayer and inviting God into every aspect of life. The distinct font styles for the story and prayers add a helpful visual, making it easy for young Christian’s to follow along.
The illustrations are soft and engaging, using pleasing pastel colors to depict treasured moments between the characters. The warmth of the artwork complements the book’s message splendidly, creating an inviting and memorable experience for young readers and their parents.
This book is a treasure for parents of children aged 0–4, celebrating the milestones of early childhood while encouraging gratitude and a focus on God in daily life.
The Final Forge: I Prayed for You is a delightful and meaningful story that highlights the joy of parenthood and the importance of prayer and faith at every stage of life. Highly recommended!
Plot: Every mother at some point prays for her baby. She starts from the moment she knows that baby is on the way and continues long after the baby has grown up and flown away to start a family of their own. Mothers pray every day for their babies, asking for different things and rejoicing in the little things that come from having a growing baby toddling around their world. Mama bear shares some of her prayers with her little cub in this delightful picture book that will make bedtime extra sweet and special.
Likes/Dislikes: This is a really cute little book. My 4 yr. old loves the bears and was really excited that mama got her a new book to read. The 20 month old listened to the rhymes and tried to turn the pages herself but that was a tad tricky. She seemed to enjoy the story though so that's a good thing. It was really cute. I personally would've left out or changed the first soccer game because not every kid does soccer and therefore might not relate to that particular page but the rest were super cute.
Rating: G-All ages, though geared more toward 3 and up. Highly recommended.

All while I was going through four years of fertility treatment I absolutely prayed for my daughter every single day with every needle and medication. So this book is near and dear to my heart and I simply love reading it with my daughter. Every page has a real life scenario from first cuddles to heading off to the little bear cub's first day at school without mommy, then has an accompanying rhyming prayer to go with each one. Reading this at night before bed with my dream come true, I'm thankful I get to share this journey with her and she understands how loved and wanted she is. I love this book and believe in its bonding and inspiring power for both parent and child.
This sweet picture book shares about different moments in a child’s—or, em, baby bear’s—life, from walking for the first time to getting their first ouch to dressing themselves to heading off to school alone. Each of those moments are accompanied by a short rhyming prayer. And the illustrations are delightful, capturing the tone and writing beautifully with a calming color palette in what looks to me to be watercolor.
The illustrations are precious. You can really see the texture and how soft and fluffy the bears are. You can see the other items of how hard or soft they are as well. Absolutely wonderful drawings. Makes me want to hug the bears. Part of the story is like a prayer, but it's done really nicely. Perfect to read to your child regardless if you and your family pray together.
What I liked about this book:Most touching gift a parent can give their children that will continue to be a blessing as they grow older. I recommend this book for parents, grandparents and children. We never stop praying for our children and grandchildren, trusting God for their care daily. I gave it 5 stars because it speaks volumes from the heart.
I adore the layout with prayer boxes scattered throughout. The beautiful love and committed prayer by the Mama bear and the contentment of the baby bear is lovely. Sweet illustrations complete the experience of reading this book. Kids will want to read and reread this book.
This is adorable! It's written from the momma bear's point of view. Every different stage of the cub's development comes with a little prayer. And the illustrations by Frank Endersby are phenomenal!!
My 13 month old son sat in my lap while I read this book, the pictures are really cute! The book rhymes sometimes, and other times not. But the message is sweet and good, and I like having this book around. Definitely a keeper.
Great book for young children ages 1-5 who are starting to learn about the idea of prayer. It is about a mother brown bear who prays over her little cub and all the adventures he/she goes on as they are growing up.
Nice little sweet story of a loving Momma as she prays for her little one though his different stages in his life. Nicely illustrated too. An enjoyable bedtime story.
Mama will always pray for you!! It's so important to have faith. Love this book so much. Would recommend this to everyone. A nice read for listening baby in womb.
Such a sweet little book for kids and parents. With cute little prayers for parents to pray for and with their child. I am not overly religious and found this book just right for our family.
One of the Cutest children’s books I’ve read in awhile!
The book was so cute and absolutely relatable we will definitely be reading this one more than once. My lil one is only 3 months but he smiled as I read the book as if he understood every word.
