The Hunted #1

Hidden Wolf

Rate this book
Secrets. They can make or break you. I would know. I’m a wolf in sheep’s clothing, except I’m not trying to eat them—I’m one of them.

I’m a hunter who stalks my own kind—vicious, bloodthirsty werewolves. Even though we have the same blood, I have never been like them, never been a slave to my baser impulses. The other hunters, however, would never believe that, so I have to hide myself or risk certain death.

Yet when my secret comes to light, will I be killed? Or could the hunters set their prejudices aside and accept me for who I am? I guess I’ll find out, since I really wasn’t given a choice.

Hi Everyone. If you're reading this, it means you want to know more about me, which is good because I like to share. Let's see, I'm a 24 year old writer who started writing because the voices in my head told me to. I would have dream after dream that would play on repeat until I would write them out. And that's how most of my books are born. It all starts with a dream.
um what else? I'm a big dog lover. I have a little shih Tzu called Mikey who likes to pop up on my Facebook page during giveaways. I have a beautiful little girl, Allison who has started her first year of school this year. She loves reading just as much as I do and seems to enjoy paranormal too.

After reading a few TW books I've come to the decision that she doesn't know how to write a well balanced heroine when it comes to strengths/weaknesses. Her heroines (most of them) come off as perfect with an "Alpha" complex and the Hero's are typically always looking to her for direction. They may not all start that way but in the event you start with a weaker heroine she always end up being the most powerful....this book is no different.

Heroine knows how to fight better, is stronger, is smarter, etc etc etc than any of the three hero's. She saves their asses and then comforts a crying hero. I love me a strong alpha Hero but I don't get that with TW as she puts her heroines in that role...

What a unique concept to werewolf shifter stories!

The heroine in this story is a shifter but has kept it hidden from society because humans are still the top species and many are known as Hunters who go out on the full moon every month and hunt Wolf shifters. She is an extremely confident, mouthy, intelligent, and almost alpha like girl in her last year of high school. She’s the new girl in school since her and her father move around quite a bit to keep the secret hidden. She was found in the woods by a hunter herself as a baby. No one knows who her real parents are but her caregiver has treated her like a daughter and she calls him her dad. These are the two main characters of the story. They collide with other hunters and since Eliza is also a hunter but also a wolf, it’s a battle of what’s right and what’s wrong. There are some fun plot twist throughout the book. I have no idea when book 2 will come out. This was just a really easy really fun read. Not dark at all. It’s under 200 pages so it is a book that could be easily read in a few hours.

This book was a lot of fun. A werewolf raised by a werewolf hunter... does anyone need anymore enticement than that? Eliza was a no nonsense hardass, and her relationship with her dad was pretty adorable.
The action sequences and reveals could have been fleshed out a little more: it is a short book, so I can see why they didn't fit, but sometimes it just felt like a bit extra would have given it more impact. There's a lot that happens in here, but it's easy to follow along. There were a few instances of emotional whiplash, but overall it was just super enjoyable and pretty light considering some of the subject matter. I'm looking forward to reading more of this.

Worth it? ? ?

The story of Eliza being a wolf but also a wolf hunter was interesting and I enjoyed the build up, but suddenly things just started happening so quickly and without enough detail or pacing. I don’t really feel like I got to know the characters and their individual personalities at all yet. There was a lack of detail, storyline and personality. I must say, the blurb for the book didn’t lead me to imagine what the story was actually like- a little misleading but I was happy with the storyline... until I wasn’t. I honestly wouldn’t have paid for this book of I had realized it wasn’t a full story or a full book in a series. It felt like jus my as the story started to take off it was over. Way to short a read and cuts off too quickly - I couldn’t even call that a cliff hanger ending because the story handing even gotten going and what did in the middle end felt rushed as I said. This story has great potential but I felt like I read a free sample versus a book I paid to purchase. Let down and I only hope the author does a better job on the next installment or there’s no hope or reason for me to spend more money on this.

Really Interesting Story

As a born wolf female but found by a nineteen year old male wolf hunter who keeps her and raises her as his own daughter. Trained as a hunter and trained to control her wolf half to never kill humans this young girl now seventeen has had a good and happy life with her adopted father but now things are coming out of control. They have always moved at least every year to keep from drawing attention. Now a hunter from her fathers past and his three sons, a "dead" wife who is a wolf now and in hiding, one boy is bitten on a wolf hunt and his brothers think they must kill him because that is what their father has taught them but the fighting has stopped her from noticing that the wolf pack has found them and unless she reveals her wolf secret to these three hunter boys they will all four definitely be killed by the pack. Will they shoot her when they realize she is a wolf like they have been trained to hunt and kill? Can there be a HEA ending for all these people who lives seem to be tied together? I definitely want to read more about these people when she writes more.

So I’ve been a long time fan of all things Tamara. So no surprise I dive into a new book. This story is no different from her others in the sense I was captivated in the first few pages. Eliza is a strong AF female lead. She takes no garbage and isn’t afraid to dish it out. But when your a wolf in sheep’s clothing, you have to play a tight knit game. And of course Elizas life can’t be easy, and is thrown a curve ball in the form of hunter royalty, who is setting her up to be an example. I just kept sitting on the edge of my seat flipping pages. I. Could. Not. Stop. Another story I’ve added to my list of watch out for the sequel cause these one left me wanting more.

Good start

It’s been a while since we’ve had a new book from Tamara, life has a funny habit of taking over sometimes, but when she does put a book out there it never disappoints.

This is probably more YA than I’m used to reading lately, but I really enjoyed the story. Eliza and her Dad are on a journey and by the end of this book you have hopes for where it will lead them, but the world they live in is definitely uncertain and there are many factors pushing against them.

I don’t want to say too much because I feel like anything I say could be a potential spoiler, but if you want an easy read then this is the book for you.

Been bamboozled!

Let me point out I did not realize who the author was until I was a few pages in. now this had nothing but high 5 star ratings and again I ask myself, who are these ppl that are rating? I've read a couple of this authors books and each is less impressive then the next. How is it possible to put out this many tragically bad books? And is there just a fan base for it? Because let me tell you, Tamara books are just down right bad. I wish that there was a button besides to follow the author, like a block of them and the future books they put out so I don't have to keep reliving this nightmare.

Tamara show's her skills once again in this young adult novel about a young wolf that hides in plain sight: as a wolf hunter!
Eliza is a sassy girl who just wants to finish her Senior year of high school in one place, not cause too much trouble, and run with the moon once a month. Life has other plans for her however and she suddenly has a decision to make...Share her secret or let someone get hurt.
Hidden Wolf is so sweet in its simplicity and honesty. Rated 18+ because of language I wouldn't have any issue recommending this one to my 16-year-old daughter (who loves werewolves).

This book may be short, but it packs a punch. Eliza doesn't put up with anything and I love to see her put bullies in their place! She is strong and feisty and has to be in order to survive as a shifter living among those that hunt and kill her kind. She fits almost seamlessly into their society and they have no clue who or what she is. That is one of the things that drew me to this story. Tarmara White, as always, creates these amazing characters who draw you into their stories and I love that about her books. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this story.

If I hadn't had to sleep, I would have devoured this is one sitting! Tamara has produced another fab book! I loved Eliza and Anton and their relationship's dynamic, can't wait to see more of them in the next book! Duncan has succeeded in being the villain so far and wouldn't miss him at all. Ash is so sweet compared to his brothers but he did have less influence from his father. I do like Jay and Ty so intrigued to see more from them in the future. I do love the plot and excited for the next book!

Hidden Wolf is an incredible first book. Eliza is a sassy young lady who certainly has some bite to her. The book is short, however that does not mean it isn’t full of wit, humour and a a few surprise. The book touches on some typical high school interactions and does have an antagonist causing drama but does not cross into a bully genre. I loved and it cannot wait to see what else Eliza brings us.

Tamara did it again, I was completely blown away with how good this book is! It was a breath of fresh air. Eliza is an amazing character, she doesn’t let anyone walk all over her. And I love her relationship with her father. She grows up in the human world and has to hide her wolf side from everyone which isn’t easy considering her father hunts werewolves and she is training to be a hunter. There are some twists in this story which I really enjoyed. You definitely want to read this one!

Amazing!!

I can't even begin to describe how amazing this book is. I'm so hooked on this author it isn't funny. I love the MC and how she has a.heart but is also a bad a$$. Liza is an anomaly raised by a hunter, but being a werewolf. The banter and relationship between her and her dad had me laughing. Loved her knocking the boys down a peg or two as well! Im already waiting for the next release!

This story pulls you right in. Sometimes the truth is not an option. Eliza has hidden what she is her whole life. Her dad is one amazing man and brought up an amazing young woman. She has no filter when she speaks and tells it like it is. The story is great and throws plenty of twists at you. Lots of teenage drama with some tough fighting scenes. Eliza will make you wish she was your best friend.

Fuck me sideways this book was fantastic! I loved the different take on hunters and wolves! Having Elizabeth be a wolf and a badass hunter at the same time was the kind of awesomeness I didn’t know I needed in my life. So glad I finally was able to read one of Tamara White’s books, although it does make me even more annoyed at myself for not having the time to get to them before now! I’ve been missing out!

I need more!

Oh man, this book was just what I needed. I was in a bit of a book slump and wasn't sure what I was in the mood to read... after starting 3 books and not getting into them, I started Hidden Wolf and it sucked me in from the very beginning.
I love Eliza's sassy spunk. I like that she's such a strong young lady and isn't scared to speak up for herself.
I can't wait for the next book and to see where the story goes from here!

This book gave a new perspective on wolf shifters and is different from everything else I have read so far. Eliza isn't your typical girl she has been raised by a hunter who found her as baby. She is strong, sassy, and very protective. I absolutely love this book and would definitely recommend it to everyone. I can't wait to see how this series goes from here. I couldn't put this book down, I was instantly sucked.

Beautiful written

Eliza is strong and funny. She is a wolf shifter who was found and raised my a human man as a baby. He hunts the very thing she is. He teaches her how to control her wolf and how to hunt wolves, who attack people. They move to a new town where she meets Ash, Ty, and Jay, who are being taught to hunt wolves too. On a hunt Ash is attacked and bitten and turned. Eliza helps him through his change.

Wow, loved this

This is a great little story, I really enjoyed Eliza’s tale and can’t wait to hear more. She is a strong an independent character who doesn’t let anyone boss her around. I wonder what kind of mate or mates she will have and what her life will be like going forward. It will be interesting to see. I also wonder if that wolf pack is as human aggressive as they think it is. Who really knows. It is all intriguing. We shall see w hat plays out next.

Great Beginning

Love the relationship the MC had with her father. It makes the entire book go more smoothly. It gets on my nerves when people have stupid reasons for keeping secrets.

Love how the MC takes up for herself. Although the stigma that she immediately puts on the cheerleaders (before meeting them) is not cool(former cheerleader here). I don’t like snap decisions without proof.

I am looking forward to the next book.

More of a 3.5

I liked this book, but the first half felt like nothing was happening except bullies and then suddenly the mother is alive then ash is turned. The pacing in the latter half could have been better if it was more like the first. I think there's a lot of potential and would like to see where this goes. At least I didn't feel like my eye were going to roll out of my head with this one. I'll probably read it again when a sequel comes out.

So good!

Tamara White has done it again! The main character Eliza is a young wolf trained to take down her own kind. She has plenty of secrets and moves to a town who just may uncover hers as she uncovers theirs. I really enjoyed how this book was not your everyday wolf story. Can hardly hold in my excitement for more!!!

A very good start to a new series. There's no romance in this book, which is actually refreshing, but you can see where the romance will be in future books. Definitely loving the slow burn feel on the romance scale. The plot is very interesting, kept my attention by making me try to figure out what was gonna happen next, which was super fun!

Simply amazing

Each book Tamara writes is a whole new reason to fall in love with her worlds. This one didn't disappoint. Eliza battling against two sides of her and the love of her father left me regretting that I read the book so fast but at the same time also greedy for the next in the series. Can't wait to see what more is to come from Ash, Eliza and the rest of the crew.
