A.L. Frances is a thirty-two-year-old British author.

The Broken is set to be a four-part series and marks A.L. Frances’ debut in literary fiction.

Born in Wythenshawe, South Manchester, she is the product of a broken home. Her formal education was cut short before she could gain any qualifications and she became a mother to three children by the time she was just twenty years old. At twenty-one A.L. Frances suddenly finds herself cast in the role of a single parent, destined to repeat the cycle of her own difficult upbringing.

Determined to give her children a better start in life, she moved to the countryside village of Hollingworth, and eventually settled into a career in law. It was during this transition that she found herself on a journey of self-discovery. Attending multiple mindset enhancing seminars in England, America and Canada, she was exposed to the tutelage of inspirational speakers such as Bob Proctor, Tony Robbins, and Mel Robbins among others. A.L. Frances was eventually introduced to Peggy McColl, a New York Times Best Selling Author. Standing on the stage, Peggy said the words that would inspire her into action. Peggy said, “Everyone has a book in them.” as she pointed into the crowd. It was at this point that A.L. Frances fell in love with the idea of writing her own book and telling her own story; one that would address one of her biggest fears: the vulnerabilities of broken homes.

At the age of twenty-nine, A.L. Frances decided it was time to start the next chapter of her life.

What follows is the start of her journey…

"Other people will own tiny parts of our thoughts throughout our lifetime in one way or another, and the saddest part is that we, as individuals, aren’t even aware of it."

Matthew Honey lost his only daughter Eve and Phil Parkinson lost his five children to the evil entity Jezebel. Both broken men now have to do what it takes to get their lost children back, and in this race against time they have the support of Detective Chief Superintendent John Terry. This crazy and uncertain mission takes them to a mysterious shop, a psychiatric ward and then to a forest of horrors leading upto the Moycullen Nunnery in Ireland where they might find their children! Seperate horrors take place in the nunnery with the evil presence taking over the nuns and the children, including disappearances and murders.

So I devoted my entire Friday to this book and it was totally worth it! In just around 200 pages, this book creates a wonderful and haunting imagery that makes it an intense work with the introduction of new characters including the nuns and a paranormal hunter. I love the fact that each character is strong and still have their vulnerabilities, of course except for the dark empress, the most powerful and hateful entity.

The book certainly took pace from the previous 2 books in the series and I absolutely loved that. The energy was high and hopeful on this one along with slight humor to keep things interesting. What I can confirm is that the author's writing has improved greatly and the book has the perfect blend of mystery and thrill. This paranormal thriller series is one of its kind and is really amazing! I'm in love with the haunting book cover, it's beautiful and intriguing at the same time. Five solid stars to this one!

Great horror story!

In ‘The Broken’ series, lovers of deep suspenseful horror have been following a dark entity as it wreaks havoc on unsuspecting families, whilst steadily growing in power.

In ‘The Broken I,’ widower Matthew Honey, a once charismatic, successful businessman, lost his beautiful teenage daughter Eve to an evil entity which wove its way into their lives. Then, in ‘The Broken II,’ the entity moves on and devastates the lives of Alice Parkinson and her children.

Now we are on the third book, and deep in the Irish countryside, the haunted Moycullen Forest lies. This forest, and the Nunnery which it embraces, has been for many years the source of rumour and superstitions. It is said that those who enter the forest never return. Behind the convent walls, the sisters care for unloved children. Now they have a new member, Sister Jesselle, a wolf in sheep’s clothing. For Sister Jesselle is The Dark Empress, and she has only one vocation…

United in their pain, and desperation to get their children back, Matthew, and Alice’s husband Phil, team up with Chief Superintendent John Terry who has come to believe their story. The men will stop at nothing to discover the children’s whereabouts, and end the entity’s reign of terror. They can sense that time is running out, and so they are willing to stop at nothing. But will that be enough?

It is said that the best books are written from the heart, and that the author gives a little bit of themselves in them. I believe this is very much the case with this young author whose prologue for this story is very insightful.

I look forward to the next book in this excellent series, and thoroughly recommend this series to lovers of suspenseful, scary, horror stories.

When was the last time you read a book that made your heart pounding??

For me it was today. Its still beating fast. Iam not sure for what exactly actually!!
Is it for the poor Eve and the five other children who were haunted by an evil entity? Or for Eve's hapless and desperate father Matthew Honey or other children's father Phil Parkinson?? Or for the several unanswered questions Iam desperate to know answers right now??

In the third part of "The broken series " by A L Frances, we are lead through a haunted forest in Ireland where one who enters will never be able to find their way back. Matthew and Phil along with DCS Terry set out on a mission to destroy the self sustaining and unstoppable evil entity and save their children. Will they be able to? Will Matthew's secret weapon help him ?

My most haunting part was the nunnery in the Moycullen forest and sister Jesselle . I skipped a beat every time I read about this demonic creature😅 Also my favorite part was Matthew Honey's show of affection for Phil. Even when he is heart broken , he still cared to console Phil at his much needed time. Also the way Eve taken care of the little baby, even at a time of mental agony makes her character more lovable.

The narration is to the point and I really enjoyed the development of the plot. All the characters have their own identity and are showcased with detailing. It's a haunting beauty and I definitely recommend to someone who love a scary book to keep them awake all the night 😂🤯 If you get easily sacred like me, read in the daylight. Can't wait for the next part!!

𝑻𝒊𝒕𝒍𝒆: The Broken: Control
𝑨𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓: A.L. Frances

𝑴𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒆𝒘:
The Broken: Control written by the author A.L. Frances is the most interesting novel in the Broken series so far. This part has two main male characters: Phil Parkinson and Matthew Honey. They both once had a loving family but now both of them have lost their wife and their kids are missing. Matthew is a father of a girl Evelyn and Phil is a father of five kids.

The story alternate between Matthew and Phil's search for their kids and the evil entity that has taken their kids. All the six kids are now possessed by an evil Jezebel.

Matthew who was once an alcoholic is going sober since months and he guides Phil to give up alcohol and only focus on finding their children. They took help from DCS Terry on the case but how far they all will reach? Find out by reading this gripping story.

The story has elements of horror and suspense. Readers who enjoy reading reading such books shouldn't miss to pick this one. World building of the novel seems believable and interesting. Frances writing hooks the readers in the story strongly. I don't feel like keeping the book aside while reading. It's a great story. Don't think twice and go ahead with this book.

In The Broken III : Control, Matthew Honey's daughter, Eve, has been missing for just over a year, but he is determined not to let the case go cold. Phil Parkinson's wife has died, and his five children have been abducted. The only thing keeping him alive is the dream of reuniting with them one day.
In a race against time to save their children from the demonic creature that would swallow their souls in order to win dominion over the planet, the two link up with Detective Chief Superintendent John Terry. In the heart of a rumoured haunted forest in Ireland, their search leads them to a weird shop, a psychiatric ward, and a gloomy nunnery, where nothing is exactly as it seems.

Matthew possesses a secret weapon, but will it be sufficient to stem the flood of evil and restore all that has been lost?

The best books, it is said, are written from the heart and contain a little bit of the author's personality. This, I believe, even more than the prequels, The Broken III: Control will win your heart. The writing of author A.L. Frances is so good that I've become addicted to her books.
I honestly can't wait till August for The Broken IV: Vengeance. This is without a doubt one of the best book series I've ever read. Highly recommended. ❤

After reading the first two books in The Broken series, I was very curious to read the third one and it's worth my time. Control is the third book in a four-part series. Phil Parkinson has lost his wife Alice and all of his five kids are missing. He has also lost his mother-in-law Dorothy Davies. He only has support of Matthew Honey who is and has been in his shoes.

At Moycullen Nunnery, Sister Elisabeth rants insanely. Due to this, other sisters had locked her inside her room. Elisabeth gave her soul to an evil entity Jezebel. Inside her room, Eve and five of Phil's children are in demonic form with Jezebel. Will Detective Chief Superintendent Terry be able to help in bringing back Phil's and Matthew's kids?

While reading this story I was little terrified but I was enjoying it so much that I kept on reading it till the last. It would be great to see this book series as a movie. I appreciate author's vivid imagination in building the amazing world. Writing style of Frances is amazing. Narration is strong and smooth. I enjoyed every bit of this story. I am definitely interested to read the next book by Frances.

The Broken: Control
By
A.L. Frances

My Review:
The Broken III: Control will win your heart even more than its prequels. Author A.L. Frances' writing is so amazing that I have developed an addiction for her books. The moment I finished this third book in the series, I was feeling sad because I had to wait for its sequel till release day.

In Book 3 of the series, Matthew Honey and Phil Parkinson are searching for their kids who are now possessed by an evil entity. At Moycullen Nunnery, Sister Elisabeth gave her soul to an evil entity Jezebel. All the kids, Sister and Jezebel are together at the Nunnery. Will Matthew and Phil be able to reach to their kids or find any clue with the help of DCS Terry?

This story kept me on the edge. I must admit that since it's spooky and I read it post midnight, I was afraid to sleep with lights off. The characters are written nicely by the author. Mainly, there is no part of the book that bored me. Pace of the story is managed well and I enjoyed this novel with full interest.

My Rating: 5/5
