I've never read anything by this author, but I'm interested in checking out her prior books, particularly those in The UnBRCAble Women series!

I loved Marg! She was nutty, a bit scattered, and very relatable! You couldn't help connecting with her and rooting for her. I enjoyed the support group characters, as well. The book provides great insight to what can happen when you strive for perfection and try to plan every moment and each curveball life will throw your way. It's a fun, meaningful read.

As someone who lost her mother to breast cancer at 19, and has had her fair share of breast biopsies and wonky mammograms, I cannot begin to express how much the UnBRCAable series meant to me. I was already in love with the series, having read books one and two on my own, but I was given the wonderful opportunity to read an ARC copy of the third book in the series. All three books have the running theme of the importance of a support system and the unwavering respect and acceptance of the previvors choices, whether you agree with them or not. Underneath it all was the perfect storm of trying to balance life and health despite our internal struggles. All in all this series speaks to previvors, survivors, and those left behind unlike any other. It allows our voices to be heard and our light to be seen when oftentimes it may be easier on others to accept our imperfections if we were to lurk in the shadows. In the UnBRCAble series, we are unapologetically seen and revered for those very same imperfections.

I just finished reading Underneath It All, the third of the BRCA series by Kathryn R. Biel. What an enjoyable and fitting end to this trilogy! The characters are real, sometimes likeable, sometimes not, but always relevant and relatable. I cared about Marg from page 1. I commiserated with her, cheered for her and absolutely loved her strength and determination. The author presents an amazing amount of information about cancer and cancer survivors. And she does this with compassion, understanding and humor. Underneath It All was a truly enjoyable read. I recommend it without reservation.

A look into the struggles and decisions that have to be made when facing the BRAC-1 gene. It is a woman’s story who is so hard on herself, that she does not see her worth or strength until she takes hold of her own life. It shows the power of friendship and the strangest of friendships that gives one the direction to triumph no matter what. It is the old adage, first you have to fill your well before offering others a drink. (First you have to take care of yourself, before you can take care of others.)

The third (and hopefully not last) book in this wonderful series about a support group for those faced with harsh decisions once they find out that they have a gene that will present as breast and/or ovarian cancer. Marg has the perfect life, perfect husband, kids, house and figure that she has worked hard for. She faced down that bad gene and took control with the best plastic surgeon after her mastectomy. Everything in complete control until its not...her breast implants have been recalled, husband has been cheating and leaves as she needs him the most and her perfect kids are rebelling and blaming her for everything. With the help from her UnBRCAble support group and one very unlikely new member, she's able to put her life back together.

Not your usual

Loved this book. The main character is a little on the nutty side but she has so much going in her life. Love how she managed to deal with all her issues and kick her 200 lb tumor to the curb. That was her biggest problem. All in all I loved this book.

What matters

This is an inside view of what happens when perfection becomes the rule of life. Life takes a severe curve and “life” has a totally new perspective. This battle to live gives a totally new perspective on what living really means.
