The enigmatic Diana Davis is a brilliant lawyer and a partner in one of the top Law firms in New York City. She doesn't do romance, especially not at work. So why is she finding herself increasingly drawn to her hot young intern? An age gap, ice queen, butch-femme romance from the bestselling author of Her Royal Bodyguard. Diana Davis has cases to win. She isn't entirely sure why she takes on the cocky overconfident young intern, who is so obviously queer, but she finds herself drawn to her. Diana is working a big case that is close to her heart. As temptation continues to test her every day in the office, can Diana find a way to win her case? Will her legal intern's persistent charms break down the barriers around her heart?

Alright not gonna lie I totally picked this up because of that cover because are you kidding me??? Hot AF. This book was pretty good. I think it could have been better with longer timeline and it seemed to super speed up and suddenly they're in love with each other so that was kind of unrealistic to me personally, but lemme tell ya the sex scenes were so hot I had to give it another star! Worth it for that alone.
This story needed "more". More plot or more heat. I found it lacking when I hit "the end".
If you are participating in Jae's Sapphic Reading Challenge, this book could go in these categories: Book Unicorn - character over 40 Ice queen character age gap romance Character rocks a power suit Book starts with the first day of a new job
Two intelligent women, one a bit of a playboi and the other an uptight lawyer fall for one another and the drama ensues. The Erin Brokovich case was a plot that didn't fit well and the book jumps around the case too much to really care about the outcome. The development of the love between the MC's wasn't fleshed out so one chapter they are getting to know one another and the next is a proclamation of love. There were too many continuity and flow issues that deterred me from enjoying the read. While the steamy scenes were well-written the rest of the book was not my cup of tea or shot of whiskey.
This is an interesting storyline and is well told. Loved the romance and the underlying story. The legal bits are a nice addition to the plot. Only thing that kept it from being five stars was what I felt was a rushed ending. After too much angst, suddenly it's all worked out. Nope doesn't happen that fast. I'd have like a little more filled in on how Diana worked it out. Still, I certainly recommend it.
Honestly, this should have been titled 'A Lesbian courtroom-drama with a side of erotica'
I didn't feel or get any aspect of romance, except maybe at the end. As for the erotica part, it was sparse. Like I said, this story focused more on the protags' careers as lawyers and all the ins and outs of their jobs. Don't get me wrong, I love a good dramatic law story, but I went in thinking this was going to be more about the two love interests relationship than about the case files and a long-lost, abandoned mother/daughter dynamic. At times, this story had me thinking of the films 'Erin Brockovich' & 'Fifty Shades of Grey' with all the lawyer stuff paired with the power play between the two protags.
*Note* there is no BDSM. I mention 50 shades because a particular scene was eerily similar to a scene in the book almost down to a T.
I rate this 3 stars for keeping me entertained inside the courtroom.
The laws of love are broken at best sometimes but you must risk to live.
I so enjoy a Margaux Fox story and this one was brilliant. I love a woman who can save herself and still be open to change. Diane is a top notch lawyer who runs one of the best law firms in New York. Taylor is the sexy new intern whose warm personality draws Diane. They both have not been good at relationships and Diane is the boss. Their attraction is just so good and as they learn to know each other it gets really hot. The court case that puts them together so much brings more pain . The characters are strong women faced with loss, rejection and of coarse deep love. The auther weaves in court drama, personal reflection and growing love that is such a great read.
I have enjoyed a couple of Margaux Fox’s books and this one did not disappoint. Taylor is just that person we would all like to be strong, cocky and sexy. The confidence that she exudes doesn’t match was goes on secretly inside. Diana is a stronger mature woman who gets exactly what she wants and with her cold demeanor which helps win her cases, she is feared but secretly misses a connection. When these two meet it unleashes an abundance of emotions neither one of them was ready for. The storytelling catches and holds your attention until the last word read.
Diana has survived living in a ghetto and become a lawyer with her name as part of the firm. She has no time for love especially since her mom kicked her out at young age for kissing a classmate. Twenty plus years have passed since and her mom regrets. Taylor her new intern is tall, beautiful and knows how to use strap on. Well written short story. Enjoy!
WHOO HOO! This is a hot loving story that needs to be shared!
Margaux Fox has penned a delightfully inspired love story from the legal world. The sexy parts certainly are, the stress of being a lawyer is palpable and the love is fully developed. Even if the plot is a bit thin, if it went deeper into the complexity of the case, it would have become to heavy laden and boring. So well done Margaux!
I really enjoyed this story. Diana has had a tough time, enough so that she had hardened her heart against love....until she met the one who would melt that icy solid wall around said heart. I really liked the dialogue between Diana and Taylor. It ranged from cute to acerbic. They definitely kept each other on their toes. All in all, an enjoyable experience.
Any one who's into women will find this book filled with lots of everyday needles of two ladies trying to navigate a complicated work environment with feelings pushing to the front. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone looking for hot and steamy between the pages!
A legal romantic story, very well written with a lot of feelings, emotions and happy ending. Easy to read, to follow, with sense of humour, intense scenes and legal action. Fully enjoyed it.
Diana is a partner at her law firm looking for an intern for her team! When she meets candidate Taylor, sparks fly between them! I love how powerhouse Diana shows a vulnerable side when she’s with Taylor! ❤️ Love them together! 🔥
Wish we could have seen more on the case itself and the court date would have been even better too. Found certain parts confusing when it came to who’s perspective we were reading from but, overall, very sappy and cute.
Taylor and Diana’s love story was absolutely well written and especially entertaining. Should be read by all that enjoy romances full of drama, hot sex and
I loved Margaux's royal bodyguard series so I have this a go. It was good, Diana and Taylor are very much the opposites attract type however I felt the book got a little rushed towards the end. Still, a nice read overall.
Diana and Taylor's office romance has developed deeper than just a quick wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am. Ms. Fox did an excellent job of giving the reader deep insight into the character Diana. Anyone wanting strong butch/femme characters should check this book out.
I enjoy stories where the characters show chemistry and have a backbone. it is refreshing when Taylor isn't shy in telling Diana her intentions and eventually tells her she loves her, but won't play the game Diana wanted....
Very good story and will continue to read Margaux stories....
Diana is one of two partners in her law firm. Taylor is an applicant for an internship at the firm. From the interview forward they have to fight their attraction. A sapphic romance.
