Beneath the Truth

Rate this book
From USA Today bestselling author Meghan March comes the final sexy standalone set in the Beneath world of New Orleans.

I used to believe there were lines in life you don't cross.
Don't lie. Don't cheat. Don't steal.
Until I learned people don't always practice what they preach.
I turned in my badge and gun and walked away from everything.
Then I got the call no one wants, and I’m back in New Orleans.
What I don't expect is for her to be here too.
Another line you don’t cross?
Don't touch your best friend’s little sister.
She's always been off-limits.
Too bad I don't follow the rules anymore.

I spent three and half years in the Beneath world, and I never realized how it would change my life. This series gave me my career. Thank you for believing in it and me. Beneath The Truth is book seven in the series, but absolutely can be read as a standalone.

Former detective Rhett Hennessy gets his story on August 8, 2017.

How can I put into words all that I am feeling upon finishing Rhett and Ariel’s book? I am going to try really hard to convey how much I loved this book and the entire series.

I have been a fan of Ms. March’s when I discovered her book, Beneath This Mask; after reading that one, I devoured the other six.

With Beneath The Truth, we are brought back to the beautiful city of New Orleans to delve into Rhett’s life. Rhett has always been a complex character for me, always there, trying to find his HEA and never getting it, only to have his world blow up in his face; to then having to figure out what his meaning of life is and where.

Ms. March’s ability to draw a reader in and make you, the reader, feel as if you are walking the streets with the characters has always impressed me. I loved how the relationship of Rhett and Ariel was brought to light. I was there with them from the very beginning to the very end, feeling every emotion they felt. My heart raced, my anxiety peaked, I wanted to jump in say NO, don’t go there!!!!! Or YES!!!!!

This was an amazing and epic end to such a fantastic series of books/characters. I’m sad to see the end of the Beneath Series, but looking forward to what’s next.

I can't imagine the pressure a writer must feel when completing a series, especially one with a huge fan following. The need to see the characters again, to wrap-up all the stories together, to honor the tone and world created in the other books, and to give one last ride to the readers of the series has to be such a huge undertaking, and Meghan March did it all. Lovers of this series will be nothing but astonished with the final story of the Beneath series.

Hennessey, what a hero and certainly worth the wait. With every book, readers have leaned more and more about this man. They have seen the honor and loyalty he has. They have seen his quest and desire to find love. They have seen him fall at some of his weakest moments, and, yet, he still maintains everything that is good about him. Even in this story, his core qualities shine through and readers love this man for all the reasons they have loved him throughout all the books. As with the rest of her heroes, Meghan March has hit the right balance of alpha male and loving man. These men, every single one, knows how to "claim" their women while also giving them freedom to be who they are and chasing what they want, and Hennessey, more than the others, has hit this dead on. March has certainly done his character justice, and he will go down as one of my favorite characters from this series.

Ari is more than I could have hoped for in the heroine for this book. I have personally praised Meghan in the past for creating independent and fierce heroines who know how to reign in their alpha men and make demands for their needs, and Ari does all this and more. She is smart and driven, brave and fearless, and dedicated to those she loves. Although, there are many moments where she shows how naive she can be, the author has balanced it with this sexy and sassy side that makes her character endearing and the perfect match for Hennessey.

As with the rest of the series, Beneath the Truth takes readers on a ride that will have them biting their nails, trying to figure out the all the twists and turns, and turning the pages as quickly as they can. Meghan entices readers with the romance of Hennessey and Ari, drawing them into this "second chance-esque" romance with all wooing and steaminess. She keeps readers enthralled by the mystery, leaving readers to piece together all the parts of the story to figure out the how it is going to end. The inevitable action that has readers biting their nails in anticipation of a conclusion they know will be epic only serves to keep those eyes running across the pages. And the particular ending of this one is not only perfect for the main couple, but perfect for the whole series. She really nails it, making this reader deliriously happy and satisfied with how she brought the whole series full circle.

This series will always have a special place in my heart. Not only have I enjoyed every single character and story written in it, but it introduced me to the world of Meghan March. It saddens me to see it end, but the best things about books is that I can always go back and a return trip to Nola will be at the top of the list.

Beneath The Truth, the final AMAZING story in Meghan March's fabulously addicting Beneath Series is finally HERE...and its FREAKING AMAZING! Beneath The Truth doesn't just get your adrenaline pumping, but it BLOWS the mind! So many layers and so many twists left me stunned and my jaw dropping to the floor. When you can get a book that makes you feel the blows the characters are given, it takes your breath away and leaves you in a mind numbing state that you just find yourself finishing the book in utter awe...and that is what I am in...AWE!

Rhett's story is powerfully written with the most gut-wrenching scenes and twists that just FLOORED me! This story was WAY more than I expected to get and I am AMAZED and THRILLED with how it turned out! It gives you a taste of what is to come next after this amazing series and now I am on pins and needles while we wait. Meghan March's story telling leaves me wanting more and had me taking the rest of the day to process everything that took place in Beneath The Truth and that, my fellow readers, is EVERYTHING to me. I did NOT want to leave this book and I already feel the need NOW to reread it just to grab the amazing, heart-pounding feelings all over again...and Ariel..boy, this is one heroine that knows how to kick-butt and is super smart....a totally stunning heroine. And Rhett...he is what dreams are made of right here!

There were lines you didn’t cross in life, and your best friend’s little sister was one of them.

Sweet mother of grit but Meghan March know how to end a series with a bang. She not only lit the match and set things on fire, but threw gasoline on top for good measure to ensure the burn was even more sizzling.

This is the series that first introduced me to March and started my obsession, so this book was extra bittersweet for me. While I've been dying for Hennesy's book since Beneath These Lies, I also never wanted it to end. Alas, all good things come to an end and there's no better way to end this series than with ex-detective Hennessy. Now while you can absolutely enjoy this as a standalone, you'd also appreciate it a whole lot more if you at least read Beneath These Lies first. There's a lot that happens in these books and while the author gives plenty of background to ensure new readers won't be lost, you have a different appreciation for the characters having read the previous books.
Just when I decided I was well and truly over Rhett Hennessy, he sucked me back in with a single look.

Hennesy is back in New Orleans looking for answers after the suspicious death of his father who was under investigation for being dirty. Determined to clear his dead brother's name and to finally unearth the truth, Hennesy is forced into the underbelly of a brutal cartel. His best friend's little sister is a complication he doesn't see coming.

Ariel has had a crush on her brother's best friend since she was a little girl. But she's not the little girl she used to be. These days she's a genius CEO of a successful IT company and she's over her school girl crush, or at least she thinks she is until she lays eyes on Hennesy. While there was always an undercurrent of heat, she doesn't expect for the incendiary connection she feels with the man he is today. March is the queen of alpha males, and if there's one thing that they all do well is go after their woman. Once Hennesy decides that ignoring the connection between Ariel and him is no longer an option, he goes after her with guns blazing. Ariel is no wilting wallflower and I loved her sass and inner monologue. She was a bit of a badass in her own right that was the perfect match for Hennesy.

This book had a much different vibe than the rest of the series for me. While I enjoyed the romance, I felt like it came secondary to the incredibly addicting and suspenseful story. This was quite possibly the grittiest book that Meghan has written to day, and I devoured each page with bated breath and on the edge of my seat. This was a powerhouse of a conclusion.

While I'm sad to see this series come to an end, Meghan introduced a secondary character here that I'm already salivating over. This man is the alpha to beat all alphas. We merely get a peek and the man sizzles with his presence. I cannot freaking wait for Ruthless King. Cannot wait, I tells ya.

➦What I really do love about the books in this series is that they can absolutely be read as standalones. Sometimes they'll tell you that you can pick up a book #4 in the series and not be clueless about what's going on only to start reading and be bombarded by unnecessary details about characters from those previous installments. Not here, I tell ya. Meghan March really did a terrific job in that respect as well as perfectly blending romance and suspense together.

➦At a first glance this appears to be your good ol' second chance romance with a "brother's best friend trope" woven in but then... THEN... the author brings in the element of action and suspense and the romance almost takes a backseat for a while. Well, I didn't mind it for one bit because I was so immersed in the story that I would have probably bitten my nails to shreds if I didn't love them so much. lol

➦I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves their romantic suspense. There's crime, there's action, there's betrayal, all in the midst of steamy romance between a hot ex-cop and a hacker heroine. I do recommend the audiobook version - great narration, as always, with this author's books.

You know that saying “ Save the best for last”? Well those five words couldn’t have been more true for this story. Meghan March layed down the law in this one and she held nothing back so if you were expecting anything less, you’re going to be sorely disappointed. Saying goodbye to this series isn’t going to be easy but you know what they say: “All good things must come to an end”… and how good it was.

Due to the nature of the story and seeing that there’s no blurb, I won’t be going into full details of the plot other than the heroine being the younger sister of one of Rhett’s friends. Besides that, youre getting nothing else from me! What I will say is that Rhett Hennessey is mine. Please don’t cause a scene on this because it won’t be pretty once I get involved. I’ve already licked the cover and laid claim to that man from the moment I read the first chapter and I do not do well with sharing. Obviously I was taking consistent naps in kindergarten when the teachers were going over “ sharing is caring” because Sonya doesn’t share. So now that we’ve cleared up that part, let’s move on shall we?

Rhett embodied what every man strived to be. He was passionate, honest to a fault, and his loyalty knew no bounds. This was a man who would do ANYTHING to protect his loved ones and getting in his way of doing that will only get you an escort to the hospital if you’re lucky. But as much as I loved all of those qualities in him, my absolute favorite thing was the way he fell in love. It was unexpected and loud In a swarm of chaos surrounding them, but it was beautiful. I loved seeing those kind of emotions on full display because this author executed it perfectly.

Arial was one of those female heroines that you couldn’t help but love. This was a girl who didn’t have much going for her years ago and now she has everything. She was humble, self assertive, but she also had this shyness that made her real and likable to not only everyone around her, but the readers as well. This has been one of my favorite series over the past few years and I’m sad that this is the last time I’m going to witness everything that all of these characters have shared and lost but I’m also happy. I’m happy because I got to witness their journey of finding love, forming lifelong friendships and eventually starting their own families as well.

It was a pleasure getting to read this series, but it was an HONOR getting to know these beautiful characters from Beneath their hidden Masks, to their colorful Ink, their Broken Chains, their Beautiful Scars, to their Seductive Lies, their never ending Shadows and finally, what was Beneath their Truth.

Per the author: Beneath the Truth is the final book in the Beneath series, but may be enjoyed as a standalone.

Genre: Romance
Setting: NOLA
POVs: Dual, 1st person

The romance aspect of this book was super cute and the heroine, Ariel, was so adorably sweet that I felt naughty while reading some of those steamy-times scenes. The male lead, Rhett, was jaded by life but was highly likable and I had a cheesy grin on my face while reading the first half of this book.

Having read this entire series from start to finish, this book had all of the usual Meghan March touches: fluffy romance, some bad guys to punish, trustworthy friends to mingle with, and a great ending. Ari and Rhett's friends-to-lovers story was very enjoyable, but that whole business with the dirty cops that morphed into an association with a cartel was more superficial and leaned a bit into the far-fetched corner for me. I still liked this story and loved how the author integrated ALL of the characters from the prior books into this final storyline.

Complete series
■ Book one: Beneath This Mask (Simon and Charlie)
■ Book two: Beneath This Ink (Con and Vanessa)
■ Book three: Beneath These Chains (Lord and Elle)
■ Book four: Beneath These Scars (Lucas and Yve)
■ Book five: Beneath These Lies (Rix and Valentina)
■ Book six: Beneath These Shadows (Bishop and Eden)
■ Book seven: Beneath The Truth (Rhett and Ariel)

▣ Lachlan Mount seemed to be omnipotent in this book, appearing and disappearing without anyone's ability to keep tabs on him. It turns out that his book will be coming soon and titled Ruthless King. Definitely looking forward to reading that one!

Meghan March has this style that just draws the reader in. I've been curious about the sexy cop Rhett since I first read his cameos in other books. When we got Valentina's book, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to forget his pursuit: that his real heroine wouldn't be given the spotlight.

However, this book is all about Rhett and Ariel. There's no room for anyone else and that's just how I like it. The plot is interesting and it definitely kept me on the hook. The connection between our main characters was strong and I enjoyed the process of their development.

There were a few surprises that were executed very well. I don't want to delve because it would ruin the experience, but I really appreciate that sentiment. I'm usually pretty good at picking up the subtle foreshadowing but nothing stood out so much that I was able to "know" what would happen.

All in all a great addition to the series. Looking forward to what's next for Ms. March.

Beneath the Truth brings Meghan March's Beneath series to a bittersweet end. I almost didn't want to read this book just because I never wanted the end of these characters to come. But I made the mistake of waiting a few months after release to read the previous book in the series and wanted to kick myself, so I wasn't going to make the same mistake.

And I'm actually really happy I didn't wait to read Rhett's story because it was pure genius. His and Ariel's relationship was a gripping tale of two people that want each other more than anything, yet are both scared to take that leap. Getting to watch them try resist one another while their chemistry was trying to pull them together was amazing. I really loved how different they seemed at first and then getting to discover their similarities.

Ariel was this very shy and introverted character but underneath of that she was strong and loyal to those that she felt deserved her trust. I loved how her character was very successful and wealthy but was still very down to Earth. She quickly became one of my favorite heroine's from this series. Her sass was legendary and when she battling it out with Rhett sparks were shooting right off of my Kindle.

Rhett was so swoon worthy and I think I've been waiting for his story far too long because I was literally bouncing with excitement when I saw this on my Kindle. The former detective grabbed my interest with ease and then never let it go. He had so many things to worry about but that never stopped him from also thinking about Ariel and what he would do if he could ever have her as his own. Then when that moment finally came it was this giant explosion of sensual heat that had me fanning myself. I loved how he was with her, so protective and careful but also not afraid to get her dirty in the best ways possible.

I couldn't wait to get more of this story even while I was already in the middle of it. It was like each page turn had me holding my breath and just waiting to see what was going to happen next. It was shock and shock that kept me in suspense and honestly completely floored me with how invested in this book I became.

Even if you haven't read anything else from this series or author I still highly recommend this book. These characters will have you fanning yourself and the nail biting suspense that Ms. March throws in will have you captivated. We get a little information about her next works character and I'm already crazy with excitement so I'll just be sitting here impatiently waiting for that.

What I've come to realize about Meghan March's writing, is that she always writes with her whole heart and soul and it just SHINES through with every turn of the page! Yes, this is the first book that I've read in this series, but I'm no stranger to the BRILLIANCE that is Meghan March. Her brand of storytelling transports me to another world, where all of my worries and all of my problems disappear, if only for a little while. Her writing skills are impeccable. Her characters are magnificent. Her prose is both captivating and beautiful. She brings ALL THE FEELS and ALL THE EMOTIONS with Rhett and Ariel's story. It's EPIC! It's BEAUTIFUL! It's HEART WRENCHING! It's pretty damn SENSATIONAL!

"I refuse to be anyone's mistake. if anything, I'm a goddamned privilege."

I wanted to start off with a quote from our heroine, Ariel, because she is by far, one of my FAVORITE female characters that Ms. March has ever created. I like her style. I love her sass. I was complete infatuated with this woman from the very beginning. Since this is the first book I've read in the Beneath Series, and I only got a little taste of Rhett Hennessy, I still knew that Ariel, was going to be one hell of a match for our hero. Because this is what Meghan March does. She gives us a gorgeous, alpha male hero and pairs him with the only woman who can bring him to his knees. Ariel shows us a vulnerability about her, but at the same time she is independent and confident. I absolutely adored her and I saw right away that she was going to be perfect for our beloved hero.

"I'm going to touch every inch of you. Memorize you. Drive every other thought from your head except how perfect you are. How much you matter to me."

Cue all of the SWOON! I mean, can this man be any more PERFECT! Typical of all of Ms. March's men, I fell and I fell HARD for Mr. Rhett Hennessy. This man was EVERYTHING! I'm sure fans of this series will say that the author saved THE BEST FOR LAST! I can see all of the reviews now. The think I loved most about Rhett was that he kept reassuring Ariel of her worth and of her beauty. It was so incredibly beautiful. It made my heart want to burst right out of my chest. Trust me when I say that Rhett Hennessy will make you feel ALL THE THINGS!

"Tell me you want this as fucking bad as I do, Ari."

"I want it all."

This was a happily ever after that I wanted to devour over and over again! I can't tell you how hard I fell for every single character...how excited I got for every single sex scene...and how my chest hurt with every single emotion that was displayed between these amazing lead characters. Although, this is the end of the Beneath Series, I'm even more excited at what's to come from this incredible author. I'm not only certain that she gives the readers EXACTLY what they want with Rhett's story, but I'm EXTREMELY CERTAIN that she did this series and these amazing characters, justice. I can only hope that I did this review justice with how much I absolutely ENJOYED this story and this author's work.

Meghan March is a force to be reckoned with in the romance genre. She gets better and better with every new release, and I've quickly depended on her to be a GO TO author for me. I can assure you that you will not only love Rhett and Ariel's story, but you will become addicted to the storytelling that Meghan March so eloquently represents. I'm kicking myself for not finding this author and this series sooner. Even though BENEATH THE TRUTH is the final book in the series, you can be rest assured that I plan on inhaling EVERY SINGLE BOOK in this series. I'm just so grateful that this can be read as a standalone, because I wouldn't want to miss out on the initial excitement that this book will most definitely bring!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😳🤬😏🥵😍

The heroine: Ariel (a.k.a. Ari) - she grew up with the Hennessy boys as the daughter of an officer that worked with Ronan Hennessy (Rhett’s father). She had a huge crush on Rhett while she was young, but has now grown up and hadn’t seen him for five years. She was a hacker as a young girl who grew into a successful businesswoman.

The Hero(s): Rhett Hennessy - a former detective that worked cases in earlier books in this series. In Beneath These Lies he was dating Valentina and had Rix helping him prove his dead brother wasn’t a dirty cop. Rhett handed in his badge after finally finding out the truth. Since then he has been living away from New Orleans and working as a private investigator.

The Story: Rhett’s parents home burns down and his father dies. He returns to Nola for the funeral and to find out exactly what happens. Ari also comes back for the funeral. Their lives intertwine in more than one way and they end up having feelings for each other.

This series is all about alpha men and their women and it has been so worth the read! I love all the guys in this series and Rhett Hennessy has been a character that has appeared in just about every book. We saw what a great guy he was while he was dating Valentina and he deserves his happy ending as well. Rhett is a tattooed alpha male who is on the right side of the law that can get things done and is the perfect southern gentleman like his namesake.

This one had the most complex and harrowing story of this series. All the guys from the previous books showed up in this story and there were a lot of good characters in this one as well including members of Ari’s family, members of Rhett’s family and even Lachlan Mount from the Mount Trilogy. I enjoyed every minute and wish there were even more books in this series.

Beneath The Truth is the final standalone book in the addictive Beneath series and one of my most anticipated read this year. Did this book make the cut? Of course it did! Once again, Ms. March has given us fantastic characters who steal our heart from the get-go - a former detective Rhett Hennessy whose loyalty, honesty and selflessness make him impossible not to adore, and a strong, independent, kind-hearted heroine with an incredible sense of humor, Ariel Sampson.

Rhett and Ariel’s story is explosive and the perfect combination of engaging plotline and fulfilling character development. It is sweet, sexy, emotional, full of suspense, intrigue, secrets, lies, betrayal, humor with a a fine specimen of Alpha hotness and smoking hot skin-tingling sex scenes thrown in the mix.

Rhett and Ariel are truly amazing together, the perfect couple full of love, passion and understanding for each other. Both of them were so endearing and relatable which I simply adored.

“Never be embarrassed about anything that happens when we’re together. This is as raw and honest as two people can get, and there’s nothing to be worried about."

I loved the banter between them and the things that popped out of Ariel’s mouth just cracked me up.

“You come just like you do everything else. You don’t hold back.” My mouth was moving before I’d even consciously decided what to say. “Probably because you eat pussy like you do everything else—perfectly.”

“Red, you’re soaked.” I didn’t know what possessed me to say it, but I blurted, “Didn’t you know everything’s better when it’s wetter?” A moment of silence followed before Rhett’s entire body shook with laughter."

I thoroughly enjoyed everything in this book. The heart-warming romance, the sexy times off-the-charts hot, the storyline, the colorful array of secondary characters—this book was great in every aspect, keeping me enthralled for hours, and it again left me craving for more. And the epilogue was AWESOME! The perfect ending to the Beneath Series.

**5 star SPOILER FREE review**
This review is going to be vague because there are just so many things that could be spoilers. This is the seventh and final book in the Beneath series, but this is the first one I have read. I can assure you that is can be read as a complete stand alone, but fans of the series will enjoy cameos from other characters and will have met Rhett Hennessey in other books. But the author does a good job explaining anything pertinent so I never felt lost. I was pulled right into this story and was enthralled til the very end.

Rhett Hennessey is just all kind of alpha deliciousness. He has basically been off the grid and living in denial after his life imploded a year ago and made him question everything. But now he has returned home to New Orleans and is trying to solve a case close to home...off the books since he is no longer a police detective. He has always lived by a code of honor and had a strong sense of loyalty. But black and white has morphed into more shades of gray lately. He's been detached, lost, and avoiding things for a year. But in facing this new situation, he decides to take some sage advice about figuring out what he wants in his own life. With a new dedication to get out of limbo, he sets his sights on the one woman he has always wanted but always saw as off limits.

His heroine is highly intelligent and successful, but also nerdy, awkward, and impulsive. She is real and unfiltered, but can also be professional and classy. She does not always follow the rules, but she can also get results. She has always had a crush on him, but always felt insecure and invisible. And no matter how successful she is, when around Rhett she feels like that awkward teen again. He feels like she might be out of his league now, but that is not going to stop him now that he has made up his mind.

I loved these two together! They have a history and chemistry. They have great flirty banter and sexual innuendo. He is a dirty talker and she is unfiltered. They are passionate and ravenous. They have buried feelings for a long time thinking it was off limits, but now they are trying to take a chance and really embrace life. They are surrounded by mystery, chaos, danger, and unanswered questions. Their lives are messy and complicated. It is hard to tell who to trust, what is the truth, and where threats are coming from. He needs answers about the past and the present. And now she could be in danger and in need of protection. Not only does he need to keep her safe, but he needs to figure out who is out to get them and how all of the pieces fit together. The story is intricately layered with many variables and possible motives and antagonists.

This is intriguing, suspenseful, and mysterious, but also emotional, sexy, funny, and even sweet. Meghan March does not pull punches. It is edgy, violent, and raw at times. It kept me guessing and trying to put it all together. It was full of surprises, twists, and connections. I liked that there was not a lot of unnecessary relationship angst. They had apparently been in denial for years and had enough external drama and danger to deal with. And they were both working through personal issues that affected them and trying to find answers, forgiveness, acceptance, and learn not to take responsibility for other's actions. So it was a personal growth experience for both of them as they worked on building a relationship while trying to keep themselves and those they care about safe.

This ties up her Beneath series. There are cameos of the other couples, and it made me want to go back and read more about them. One intriguing, important man is featured and he will be the hero or perhaps anti-hero of his own upcoming story. I also enjoyed the Hennessey brothers, Rome and Rock. I would love to see more with them. So hopefully, even though this series is complete, there will still be stories spinning off and we may see these characters again.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

5 Beneath Happily Ever After Stars

This is me after this epilogue. Don't touch me now! I just have so much feelings. So this one will be short. I really enjoyed this story Rhett and Ariel were amazing, the plot was really engaging, and I have to admit that this book was the most gritty, and brutal in all of Meghan March's creations. It was truly a beautiful ending to this series, that is so close to my heart.

Now I just can't wait for Mount, because I am so curious which amazing woman will bring this man down to his knees. Also I truly need both Hennessy brothers in my life...I NEED THEM <3 Especially Rome the glimpses at him here and in Take Me Back made me salivate for him.

Hands down one of the best books that Meghan March has written!!!! This book was magnetic, suspenseful and all the feelings. With her visceral prose, March has readers spellbound as layers of fourberie, mystery, truth and passion are beautifully interwoven giving the readers a full spectrum of March's ability to bring life and romance into a story. A must read!!!

Beneath The Truth tells us Rhett Hennessy and Ariel’s story. I’ve been craving Rhett’s story since meeting him and even more after a revelation in one of the previous books. This book was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. It’s epic. It has the perfect amount of suspense, romance and steam. Even days after finishing this book, I still think about it sometimes and remember everything so clearly.

Rhett’s life has been turned upside down about a year ago. Certain values that were important to him, suddenly didn’t mean much anymore. He didn’t know what to do or think and he just left. Now, he’s back in New Orleans. Rhett sees Ariel again for the first time in years. Ariel is the little sister of one of his friends. He always had a crush on her and he wants Ariel even more now. Ariel feels the same way.

I fell completely and hopelessly in love with Rhett and Ariel. Rhett is the man I expected him to be. He’s strong, determined, genuine, caring and protective. He needed the escape, but he’s ready to come back home. He can’t believe what happened now and he’s determined to find out everything. Nothing can or will stop him. Rhett’s happy to see Ariel and his other friends again. He’s so happy that he finally gets a chance with Ariel and he plans to keep her forever.

Ariel is sweet, insecure, caring, genuine, loving, independent and incredibly smart. She has a successful business and works hard. Some of her employees are her best friends and they are fun people. She’s also close to her family and she’s happy to see them again. Ariel can’t believe that Rhett wants her, but she’s also over the moon about that. She wants to be his forever.

Ariel and Rhett have a great chemistry. I loved them together. They are so good and hot together. They believe in each other. They are a beautiful, incredible and solid couple.

Beneath The Truth is the last book of the Beneath series. This book was an amazing book to end the series. That epilogue.. That epilogue was everything. I’m sad the series is over. I can’t recommend this series enough. It’s one of my favorite series ever and I’ll gladly reread (multiple times) in the future. I loved every single book. I loved every single character. I can’t choose a favorite book nor a favorite character. I hope that some characters make an appearance in Meghan’s future books. I can’t wait for Mount’s story and to get to know the dark side of New Orleans.

Rhett Hennessy finally gets his turn in Beneath the Truth, and it was well worth the wait. After the events in Beneath these Lies Rhett turned in his detective badge and left town. Only the worst could bring him back, and his childhood home imploding and his father's death pretty much counts as the worst.

But the worst can also bring the best along with it, because Ariel Sampson, his best friend's little sister, the girl who loved him and he couldn't love back, has also come back home. She's come, in part, to be with him, even though she swears she's over her childhood crush.

And maybe that's true. Crushes are fantasy and fizzy and frothy, what Ariel and Rhett share is something deep and emotional and haunted and heavy and light and complicated. A lifetime of history lies between them, and given all the upheaval in Rhett's life at that moment, it finally feels like the time has come to explore what it could be like with Ariel.

For Ariel, it's as if the ground has shifted. Nothing is what she expected it to be. It's even better because the reality is that she and Rhett are tailor-made for each other. And watching them cement this fact and figure out the truth that has been shaking the ground beneath their feet is not just satisfying, it's compelling, emotional and suspenseful.

As the series capper Beneath the Truth provides the perfect amount of closure. In an epic epilogue, we get an update on all our favorite Beneath characters, and it's so satisfying. One of the things that I've really enjoyed in this group of connected stories are the friendships between the characters. They are there for one another, no questions asked with a side of sass that shows how much they care.

I discovered Meghan March a year and a half ago with Beneath this Mask, and since then I've pretty much inhaled everything she's written. Rhett Hennessy holds a special place in my heart because we've gotten to know him pretty well throughout this series, it makes perfect sense to end with his story, and how he gets his happy ending is so worth the read. And the best part is knowing that even though this is goodbye for now, it doesn't mean we've seen the last of this world.

This Fall, Ruthless King will pick up Lachlan Mount's story, and given his appearances in Beneath the Truth he's a total badass and is part of the Beneath world and is possibly linked to the Dirty world too. I kind of love that these characters all live in the same universe. I think just knowing that there's a chance I'll see these characters again makes it okay to say goodbye. I'd be way more of a wreck otherwise.

**Beneath the Truth will publish on August 8, 2017. I received an advance reader copy courtesy of Meghan March in exchange for my honest review

Absolutely fantastic! 5 stars!

Meghan March sure knows how to finish off a series with a bang, and Rhett Hennessy’s long-awaited story was everything that I was hoping for and more! Intense, romantic, sexy and emotional, with a gorgeous best-friend’s-brother romance that is full of heart and intensity, and a mystery/suspense/thriller storyline that had me on the edge of my seat, this book held me absolutely captivated and I loved every moment of it.

This book can be read as a standalone, but as the seventh and final book in the series, there will be context missing if you haven’t read the earlier books – plus the cameos from other characters won’t be as utterly awesome as I found them to be.

Rhett Hennessy (formerly Detective Hennessy) has been a part of this series since the very beginning, popping up here and there, but never a really strong part of the action until Beneath These Lies gave us the opportunity to get to know him better. That book only made me love him more, and I have been desperate for him to have his own book, and to see him get his much-deserved HEA. Rhett’s life has been difficult in the time we’ve known him. A detective from a family of cops, his devastating experiences have left him completely lost, leading him to leave the force, and his home town, and this book sees him returning to New Orleans after a year away to face even more family tragedy.

Ariel is the younger sister of Rhett’s best friend, Heath. She grew up next door to the Hennessys, madly in love with Rhett who was the subject of all of her teenaged (and most of her adult) fantasies. He is three years older than her and though he was always sweet to her, he never noticed her the way she wanted, and she has since moved to LA and become a millionaire CEO of her own tech company. A genius yet delightfully geeky, and refreshingly confident in her own skin, Ari is both relatably awkward and an absolute firecracker and I adore her! It takes a special heroine to be worthy of our beloved Hennessy, and Ari is absolutely that. And her visit to New Orleans brings her back into contact with Rhett, and everything is about to change for them, as sparks fly from the very beginning.

“I refuse to be anyone's mistake. If anything, I'm a goddamned privilege.”

The chemistry between Rhett and Ari is just sensational. Though Ari had no idea, Rhett has always noticed her, he just didn’t go there out of respect for his best friend. But now that she’s all grown up, he decides that now is the time to claim the woman he’s always wanted, and Ari never stands a chance – not that she has any intention of fighting him off.

Whether she knew she was mine wasn't the important point in my mind. It was inevitable.

The sexual tension builds from their very beginning, and every encounter just builds it further and further as Rhett and Ari flirt, banter and exchange heated stares. Rhett is a good guy with a huge heart, but he’s also totally alpha - he wants Ari and he sets about making it happen, and the anticipation is delicious as their perfectly paced romance finally starts to happen.

“Don’t tell me I didn’t notice you. I noticed every goddamned thing about you.”

And hotness! OMG, so much hotnesss! Rhett is just as hot as I always expected him to be (and a dirty talker as well!), and the sexy time is sizzling. And the emotion they already feel for each other just makes it all the more intense.

“I'm going to touch every inch of you. Memorize you. Drive every other thought from your head except how perfect you are. How much you matter to me.”

The love story unfolds beautifully – it’s natural, functional, fun, sweet, sexy and honest with a lot of heart and palpable chemistry, and I just loved these two together. Every moment is gorgeous to read. But their newfound relationship is put to the test when Rhett’s investigation into the corruption that has plagued his family seemingly collides with a dangerous threat to Ari that is about to turn both of their worlds completely upside down.

I won’t go into details because I don’t want to spoil anything, but damn, this book is intense! Shocking and surprising with lots of twists, there were moments that had me holding my breath, clutching my heart and gasping with shock – sometimes with tears rolling down my face. It’s unexpected and exciting, and OMG, it’s so well written! I could feel everything the characters were going through, and I was more and more enthralled as it all played out.

In the middle of it all we are introduced to the mysterious Mount – the man who appears to run the New Orleans underground, and who is the subject of Meghan’s upcoming Mount Trilogy. I can’t wait to get my hands on that one!

The story ends well, and the book finishes with an epilogue which gives us a glimpse at each of the couples – from the POV of each of the boys we have come to know and love. And it ends this book and the whole series absolutely beautifully.

Meghan March had me absolutely mesmerised with this story. Both the romance and the mystery/suspense were fantastic, and she did a wonderful job of combining the different elements, giving us an amazing read that I could not put down. I absolutely loved it.

5 stars!

Book 7 "Beneath the Truth" is the last one of the books in BENEATH series. It is about Rhett Hennessy and his best friend’s little sister Ariel.

Both Rhett and Ariel are awesome characters, easy to like.
There is nothing I would want to change about these characters; they are perfect as they are.

Rhett is the detective that has appeared nearly all books in the series. Now, he is working as a private investigator. He is a loyal man with a good character and he is one of the sexiest guys in New Orleans with his dark blond hair and green eyes.

Ariel is a smart woman who has built up her own firm with computer programs of her own inventions. She is a sexy red-haired computer geek with a smart mouth :)

***********************************************

For the past 15 years, Ariel’s biggest crush was her brother’s best friend Rhett but he never saw her the way she wanted him to, so Ariel moved on.

Rhett, on the other hand, has always seen her - he has always wanted her but because of his loyalty to his best friend, he has never acted upon it.

Now a funeral brings them both back to New Orleans again. One tragedy follows another and they find themselves needing each other’s support.

At the age of 30, they are now both adults and Rhett sees this as his second chance in life and decides to claim the girl he has always dreamed of and wanted. Being the loyal guy he is, he asks his best friend's blessings and when Ariel's brother seems more than eager to see them together, the inevitable love affair between Ariel and Rhett finally starts! Ariel is more than happy to get her shot with Rhett even if it is 15 years late.

***********************************************

Although everything between Rhett and Ariel begins in a lovely way and develops even better, Ariel’s ex-boyfriend creates havoc! He is a dangerous man.

Rhett and Ariel's love story is interwoven with lots of drama and suspense. They experience betrayals within their own families and they also have to deal with the cartel.

***********************************************

Both Rhett and Ariel suffer and lose a lot during their fight with the cartel. They find themselves in situations you might want to call “suicide missions”.

Rix from the previous books helps them a lot.

All along these events, the bond between Rhett and Ariel even gets stronger.

***********************************************

The book has a bittersweet end because of what they have lost but our couple has their own HEA.

As Carver pulled out behind us, I mumbled, “I feel like I need a flowchart to keep up with what’s happening here.”
Rhett shot me a pointed look. “What’s happening here is I’m taking you home. You’re not going to Molly’s again without me. You want to rub up against a guy in a bar? It’s gonna be me.”
“Did I miss something ?”
“What?” he asked, maneuvering the Jeep through traffic.
“This massive shift? You’ve gone from never noticing my existence to all of a sudden hauling me out of bars and kissing me. Yeah, a flowchart would be helpful.”

***

Rhett’s fingers gripped my jaw and he forced my gaze to meet his.
“Never be embarrassed about anything that happens when we’re together. This is as raw and honest as two people can get, and there’s nothing to be worried about. I love that you let go, that you don’t think too much and stop yourself from doing and saying what you want. It’s sexy as hell, Ari. Be you, because you’re amazing.”

***********************************************

The epilogue of this book is just “great”; it serves as the Epilogue to all 7 books… Just lovely!
***********************************************

If you want to give a chance to this series, let me tell you that my favorite books are Book 1, 2 and 7.

Ask me about a book from Megan March that I don't like, and I'll tell you that never in my entire time fangirling over this woman has there ever been one. Meghan can write a book like she was telling you a story of your life but in a much wonderful and brilliant delivery. This is how I see Beneath The Truth. And I wasn't wrong. Again, Meghan did not disappoint. In fact she exceeded my expectations with this one, and I am more in awe of her excellent writing skills and perfect delivery.

So Beneath The Truth is the last book of the series and one I could say, is the best among the books of this series. I love it and from the moment I started reading, I was not just hooked. I haven't put it down even I was at work. I was so lost into the world of Rhett and Ari and I am telling you this, Beneath the Truth is a brilliant book and I will be glad for it to become a movie because it is epic in all proportions.

Now, let me start off by saying I love and adored the characters. And since I read it way behind my blog sister, I bet your ass I am giving her not just the side glance but a death glare because she did not just licked the cover, she also stake a claim on my Rhett and I am a mad woman right now!!! She wanted me to back off but I just can't! This man is every woman's wet dream. Just thinking about him got me a lady boner because he is fucking Rhett and even his name alone has that effect on me. Add up his passionate and honorable ways plus alpha tendencies without being caveman-ish and I was a goner. The thing is, he might be an aplha but he never ever forgets Ari's worth as a woman. Her value and beauty was what matters to him and just not taking his claim in a caveman manner. More than that I love him for what he is, flaws included.

And, ARi!!! Oh.My.Fucking God! This woman will be the death of me. I love her to hard! She is not just sassy and beautiful but brilliant and independent too. My God! I lover her inner voice as well.I just do not know, but I have this instant connection with her. I might have chuckled and love her adorable ways but man I admire her strenght as a woman. Paired up with Rhett and they couldn't be more perfect for each other. I love their chemistry and connection and I love the straightforwardness of their relationship. Together, they fit as one and I could kiss Meghan right now. I can still feel their connection as if they were real. With the brilliant strategically placed emotions of their journey, my ride with them was full of ALL THE FEELS and then MORE. It was Phenomenal and really, I had so much fun and loved it to pieces.

Overall, I will recommend this book. You need not to read the whole books of the series prior to this one, but I suggest you do. The interconnection of all the series made sense more to me and I admire Meghan March for it. As for Beneath The Truth, I try to be as vague with my review as possible because I want you to fully experience this ride without giving too much away. Trust me it's better this way.

This book I tell you, is not just all about swoony moments and scorching scenes, hell- it's not just even about some forbidden vibe because of brother's best friend and little sis. The book touches an issue that will leave marks in your heart and mind with the emotion it brings. At some point it was raw, it's heart breaking. Reading it felt like I was punched in the gut. The thrill and the suspense, kept me in the edge. Revelations, twists and turns had me flipping the pages in anticipation. Reading made my mind racing with so many questions I needed an answer. At some point, I was puzzling the pieces like a mad woman that I am while at the same time was on a high because of Ari and Rhett's sexual tension. But then, there were happy moments too and sweet ones that made me fell in love harder with this story than I thought.

In the end, I cried happy tears of sadness and joy. The weight of the words and the emotions it's associated with, just got me and moved me. And that Epilogue, wow!No words... just WOW! Kudos, Meghan March!

I'm not even sure where or how to start here. This is the final book in one of my all time favorite series, and to say I got a bit emotional at times is an understatement. I've always loved Rhett, couldn't wait for his story. It was absolute bittersweet happiness to read this & completely fall in love with it. Rhett's story was more involved and intense, with the most perfect woman at his side. She's brilliant and fearless and has a whole other intense story going on. There were twists & turns, a lot of "oh my gosh" moments, betrayal, sadness, happiness & love. This had it all. And I mean EVERYTHING. There were tears here and there, but I'll warn you now. I was in full on tears, flowing freely and close to taking over, while reading the epilogue. There's so much I want to say, yet nothing I want to give away. I will say Thank You Meghan March, for the words, these characters, the stories, and this place I totally fell in love with. I loved this series so much, I can't wait to re-read them again. Straight on through lol. For everyone else, this needs to be bought and read IMMEDIATELY!!! Just do it!!! You definitely won't regret it

Meghan March worked her Magic in Beneath the Truth, book 7 in her Beneath series. First she drew me in by making me fall even more in love with Rhett Hennessy. He has been known throughout this series as the man of honor and loyalty, for being black and white. But when he leaves his badge behind, he suddenly finds himself in a world of grey.

Next, Meghan introduces Ariel Sampson, the brilliant girl next door you can't help but fall in love with. Her idiosyncrasies make her perfect for Rhett, not to mention that she has had a life-long crush on him, as he is her brother's best friend.

To top it off, Meghan March is completely diabolical in her abilities to twist the plot. She had me sitting on the edge of my seat, devouring this entire book in nearly one sitting. I couldn't put the book down because I HAD TO KNOW what would happen next. I was entirely consumed with finding out the truth in this story and I could not rest until it was resolved. The woman has talents beyond her years at creating the perfect amount of angst, compassion and off the charts chemistry.

I am sad to see this series end, but knowing Meghan I'm not quite sure these characters have been put to rest entirely. I am beyond excited to see minor characters introduced from this series, get books of their own in the future. (Well, she has revealed one already, but I can only hope for others- and I will be keeping my fingers crossed for those Hennessy brothers.) The way she tied this series up was spectacular. She has created a world I never wanted to leave, but has completely done it justice at the same time. Thank you Meghan March for another amazing read. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!

Beneath the Truth is the most intoxicating and gut-wrenching masterpiece of this immensely phenomenal series. While each story holds its own beautifully unique heartache and breathtaking victory, this one is an extra special jewel within this magnificently priceless collection. Nothing screams Meghan March like heart-melting passion and sizzling suspense intertwined with more heart and soul than you can ever imagine! The heat index is truly off the charts intense and nothing can stop it from being seared onto your heart and soul forever.

Our wonderful leading man Rhett Hennessey lingers in the sidelines throughout this entire series, and now it is FINALLY his turn to tell us his story that we will keep hidden within the depths of our heart. I always knew there was so much more to Rhett than we have ever seen, and I have waited so long to finally learn all about this intriguingly complicated and deeply passionate man. There is a whole treasure trove of mystery to him that had me salivating to get my hands on, and now I am in utter heaven after having indulged in this incredibly surprising human being. He stole my breath and captured every part of my heart. He is a truly memorable character, and his lady love is not be missed!

Meghan March is a fabulous and extraordinary author that is stuck with my reading devotion for the end of time. There is nothing that she can’t write and be a wild success with! She is a wonderful role model the more I learn about her which flows into each of her stories. She is an extremely beautiful, wonderfully humble, and undeniably passionate woman who never fails to surprise, delight, and entrance me with each of her incredible accomplishments! She is such a precious treasure that I will always savor.

Beneath The Truth by Meghan March is the seventh book and the conclusion in the Beneath Series. This is Rhett and Arial´s book. First let me tell you, I´m so so happy that Rhett gets his own story, thank you so so much Meghan March.
Rhett is a former detective , now he works as a PI and does only his job, nothing more, nothing less. He´s a good guy, but the familie´s reputation is bad. After a long time away he´s now back in his hometown.
Ariel grew up with the Hennessy boys, she had a crush on Rhett for forever. Now she´s a successful CEO and computer wizzard.
Now,that they could be together everything could be sunshine and roses, but no, oh no. There is so much more. Nothing is as it´s seems, nothing.
They are two broken people, but together they could heal each other.
Meet old friends from previous books. Have a look at their lives and loved ones.
I loved all books in the Beneath Series, but this is my favorite read. The writing is great, I love the story and the characters. I laughed loud- so sorry- not sorry Ari; but I laughed along with your assistants about " the incident".
I could feel the characters emotions in the words.
I recommend Beneath The Truth and give 5 stars. Thank you Meghan March !

I knew from the start that Hennessy would steal heart (see what I did there;)

Ari is my homegirl. I friggin' love her! Sassy, smart and sexy as hell. Just how I wanna be when I grow up!

This story pulls you in page one, it's fast paced and definitely keeps you guessing. It'll make you laugh, cry and want to punch people in the face (at least it did for me).

Not only did I adore Ari & Rhett's amazing story, I also got closure on the whole gang. THAT EPILOGUE! It was so perfect. I wouldn't change one thing about it.

This series amazes me. Every story brings something new and exciting. Theses characters are memorable, and their stories are so well written. I loved Rhett and Ari's story. There were so many moments,so many twists and turns. It was full of love and deception. I couldn't of asked for a more beautiful, emotional story. The ending was perfect. LOVED it!

5 Epic and Thrilling Stars!

"I would have given everything I owned to be able to see inside her head at that moment."
"Whether she knew she was mine wasn't the important point in my mind. It was inevitable."

"I refuse to be anyone's mistake. If anything, I'm a goddamned privilege."
What an epic, epic conclusion to this series!

Beneath The Truth is the seventh and final book in the Beneath Series. Like all of the previous stories, this book can be read as a stand-alone, but it is an interconnected stand-alone, meaning there will be characters from the previous stories in this book.

Told from dual points of view, Beneath The Truth follows the story of Rhett and Ariel. From the moment I met these two, I was hooked. Their story hit the ground running and never had a dull moment. It is the ultimate friends to lovers romance with an exciting suspenseful twist. This story has so many twists and turns that you will be left guessing right until the very end.

Beneath The Truth is a thrilling, exciting and captivating read. The characters are real, raw and relateable. The connections are deep and intense. The romance is undeniable, epic and sexy as hell. Ariel is strong, smart, fierce and devoted. Rhett loves his family but struggles with issues from the past. Underneath it all, Rhett is a fierce and determined lover. He cares deeply for those in his life and is an alpha you won't be able to say no to. Together these two are the ultimate package and their pull/their connection will keep you coming back for more.

I loved everything about Beneath The Truth. This story consumed me from page one and wild horses could not stop me from devouring each word. This story is incredibly well written and takes your emotions for one wild ride. Beneath The Truth is smart, sexy, thrilling and unforgettable. There is romance, family bonds and questions around every corner. I loved the action and the suspense kept me on my toes. I loved that the author kept me guessing right until the very end. Overall, a fabulous read and epic ending to this series.

This is my first book by Miss March. The first half of this book is too slow and too shallow. Only back and forth attraction between Rhett and Ari. I really wish the first half can be shorten by half. Then the second half getting interesting. There is suspense and action throws in. Usually in romance book, the aspect of suspense and action takes a back seat. But Miss March manages to blend together all aspect together.

The twist at the end I really don't see it coming. The epiloque is epic. I never read an epiloque like this one. Miss March put a nice ending ribbon for this series.

WOW! Where do I begin? Rhett and Ari...to begin with, if you haven’t read the rest of the Beneath series, you should...like, now. Each story is a story unto itself but this is a great wrap up and you should have the pleasure of the entire build up.

Rhett Hennessy has NOT had a great year. His family is in ruins, his career shot, lost the girl...pretty much an epic fail. Enter the girl next door, Ali Sampson, the little sister of his best friend, the girl who stole his heart but was definitely off limits. She is not the same little geek who he remembered. She was the brainy, beautiful redhead that had adored him for years and she was going to be his.

So the love story is set. HEA is the goal. But the meat of the story, the in-between drama is so NOT what you expect. Lots of family drama on both sides, some dangerous cartel connections and explosive action(pun intended). Ms. March once again captures your heart with these characters. You invest in them, you feel their pain and you finally rejoice with them in the end, but not without losing a little piece of your heart. Every couple in the Beneath series has faced their own trials but Rhett and Ali definitely take the prize for the most angst. You see the strengths shine through but also see their weaknesses. The facts are there and they both have some difficulties to overcome but there is never any doubt that they will do it together.

Loved this entire series and hate to see it end but Ms. March promises there is a future ahead for all of the couples to show up for a cameo in the next series beginning with the story of the mysterious Lachlan Mount. Can we say YES PLEASE!!!!
