Top Cow's original 1994 Codename: Strykeforce series by comics superstars Marc Silvestri and Brandon Peterson combines with the 2003 Strykeforce series from writer Jay Faerber and rising artistic star Tyler Kirkham in this massive paperback.
Stryke Force feels like a clumsy attempt to combine X-Men, Suicide Squad, and the A-Team, but it sadly fails miserably. The characters aren’t particularly interesting, with the exception of Killawatt, whose story was woefully undeveloped. The artwork started strong but by the second half of the book it really went down hill. And the villains were just plain silly (in particular Death Angel, who probably would have been too cheesy for a 1960s Batman comic).
Stunning art, the story isn't nearly as strong. The back-up reprint of Codename: Strykeforce would be better, if it wasn't for the "blurred" (read: poorly digitized) pages. So very 90's, even when done in the 21st century.
