The first school of its kind where survival of the fittest is not a saying, it's your reality.
Ruled by those who are elite in name, beauty, and cunning; Breakbattle takes the war of the classes to a whole new level.
The next four years of my life will be a fight the likes of which I can't yet comprehend, but first I have to survive orientation week.
The Elite Class has plans for me. They will test me until I break, but there is nowhere for me to run.
Secrets and lies lurk beneath the made-up facade, and I don't mean Breakbattle.
I mean me.
There is something that I have to do. There is someone that I'm after. He doesn't know that I'm coming. He doesn't know who I am. But nothing will stop me from seeing my plans through.
Not my family. Not the Elite Class. Not the pesky fact that I'm a girl.
Breakbattle's all-boys campus is getting a new student. Don't call me Zela.
Call me Zeke.
Breakbattle Academy is a contemporary reverse harem high school bully romance. This is the full series and features language, dark themes, and sexual scenes. If you're cool with that, dive in!
Ruby Vincent is a published author with many novels under her belt but now she's taking a fun foray into contemporary romance. She loves saucy heroines, bold alpha males, and weaving a tale where both get their happy ever after.
This series is actually the first I'd read from this author and it hooked me. I ended up reading most of her other available books because of how much I enjoyed the ride that is Breakbattle Academy. Zela is a warrior and I loved her strength & intelligence. She refused to roll over and let others beat her down. Her four loves are interesting, rootable characters as well. I like that the story slowly built up, from Zela's friendship with Adam to her battles then her revenge then her love stories. Of all the books by the author I've read, to me, this is her strongest work.
I have questions...
1) Did Landon marry Zela at the end of this series? (I recall Landon stating that he would be the one Zela would marry on top of him being her first but nothing stating it in the book, unless I missed it. The Raven River trio specifically names who the heroine marries of her loves but not so in Breakbattle Academy)
2) Regarding people of color... what originally attracted me to trying this series books was the cover of "Orientation Week" as that is clearly a woman of color esp with her Brown hands. As a Black woman, reading women of color heroines is important to me. I love the Breakbattle Academy series but I was a little dismayed that the cover didn't match the character's actual description of being pale and... well, not a woman of color. Maverick in the Evergreen Series is Black from a cover as it's never explicitly stated in the books that I recall beyond his hair being coarse and Michael in Breakbattle Academy is Asian though I don't recall it being as explicitly stated as with Hiro in Raven River trio, only that Michael has "angular features." And that leads me to the next question...
3) Where are the Black women in this author's? Of all the books I've read by Ruby Vincent, which I think is 9 or 10 now, I can't recall a single Black woman in any of them. Other people of color but not a single Black woman. Hmmm. I would love to read this author's take on a Black heroine in a bully reverse harem but at the very least it would be nice to see a Black woman in a supporting role. Representation is important and it's weird to see what comes across as an active exclusion of Black women. There are rich Black families that send their kids to elite schools and I would expect to see a Black woman or five at such schools. This issue didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the series but I couldn't help but notice that specific marginalization.

I really enjoyed this series. Great plot. Did not see that twist with Cameron. There were a few editing issues that should have been corrected if her beta readers paid attention, but not enough for me to really worry about.
Honestly though, I almost wish her sex scenes would have faded to black. Not only were they a bit awkward they were not really very steamy. I also would have liked to have read some of the scenes that we were told happened.
It was nice to see what happened to Valentina Moon from the Evergreen series. I had read that awhile back and didn’t realize the series was kind of a continuation. True to character, Ryder would be the hard ass as a dad!
All in all, I would recommend this series if you enjoy bully romance.
Really dull story with bland sex scenes that dragged on, it time hopped and skimmed over scenes that could have been more interesting in favour of similar scenes repeated for each character It was a good concept but this author is going on my avoid list because it takes some talent to make an Rh gender swap academy murder mystery this dull.
I love this series. This is a reread for me - I initially read these in 2022 as individual books, but got the series audio. It started me on a reread of the entire universe starting with Evergreen. Initially when I read this one I hadn't read Evergreen yet. Reading that first makes some of what happens hit completely differently.
I feel like this should be on a list of must read RH books for anyone that likes RH at all, but bully especially. The first few books have no steam or sex, but considering how young the characters are it makes sense and it still really worked for me, especially since you do get a lot of it as you move through the series.
I love all these characters, and the epilogue, but I do wish we had just a bit more with how things work out for them.
The narration was fantastic - they made the story come alive and it felt perfect. It actually increased the angst tremendously as we moved through story and created to the buildup. The audio was so good, that now I'm thinking of getting the audio for the other series from this author as well.
Another series from my academy phase that took some momentum to get into but once I did, it was great. This one was very creative in that an entire curriculum was created as the basis for the plot. It's one thing to create a fictional academy, but this was beyond that. Incredible.
The secret girl thing was off-putting for me at first, only because I had just read a series with the same basis just prior. There was a bias there but I was over it by the end of book one. I was glad I started this one when it was already complete because the cliffhangers had me bonkers. I read this series in two days. It drove everyone around me crazy.
I really liked the different characters in this one, 'Zeke' got on my nerves more than anyone else did but once you realize what's going on you understand it. I will more than likely read this one again.
So just fyi this is the second part of Evergreen Academy. You probably need to read it first just so you don’t miss out on some details and so it is not spoiled. Now with that said it was good just not as good as the first one. You know most of the time the sequels are not as good as the first ones. Such a shame too this series was one point however, it was suspenseful, dramatic, why choose, and interesting. It is still 4 star worthy. Just no that 5 star after reading the first one. Sorry. But still please read. Still worth the ticket for the ride.
Ruby Vincent is currently one of my holy trinity RH authors because of this! This series felt like a rollercoaster ride with 30 loops and 21 steep drops. I laughed, swooned, and CRIED (which I don't do that often) while reading this and I devoured the books so fast because I couldn't sleep without getting what I want for my peace of mind. The plot twist was insane and I kept on thinking about it even after I finished the series.
Zela Manning is one tough cookie. She grew up traveling around the world and having adventures. Those adventures didn't stop once she came back to the states and stayed in one spot. She took on some nasty peers, and an entire school system with the help of some great friends and a strong support system. This was a great story with very interesting characters. I enjoyed watching Zee go from a scrappy, young man to a strong, young woman. Definitely worth a read!
i generally enjoyed it. however one thing i did question was how fast she went from no i think you're my brother to accepting him as a romantic interest right after realising he wasnt after thinking of him as that her entire life. also, the broken due to a kidnapping? id get ptsd, maybe, but broken?

Meh… I wanted to love this. The concept was pretty cool but it was way too long and it honestly felt like nothing was happening most of the time. For some reason I just couldn’t DNF it. The spicy parts felt so boring. I spent most of the time trying to decide if I hated Zela or like her… I still don’t know. I think the only one I liked was Derek.
This series was amazing. You fall in love with Zee and her men. She is so strong. Derek is my favorite. I love them all. I love Adam. He is wonderful. If you read the other books before this series you would have already loved him. Must read series!!!
This was another awesome series by this author! It’s full of nonstop drama, secrets, and a lot of great times along the way. Just like her other series that came before this one I couldn’t put it down and I can’t wait to read another book/series by her.
I loved how Zela's character developed through the series. My favorite being the insight they gave at the end. Rarely do we f get a glimpse into the future that we all look forward to.
It's a good thing these books are all together because you will want to binge! There are peripheral characters from the Evergreen Academy series here, but this is truly character driven with complex, intriguing characters and a fantastic plot!
I say it. Adam Moon is still my favourite. I could not have predicted Zela's motivations for her actions but the steam and plot development makes up for it. I really liked the unique RH relationship was there among the protagonists.
As an author I gotta say I really rate Ruby Vincent. This wasn't my first series by her and I know it won't be my last. Something about the way she writes her characters draws me in.
Now I know that some find the pace to be a little slow and the sex scenes to be 'lacking' compared to those of other writers. However, I suppose you can always go and read theirs then 😅
The first few parts were more interesting. The latter parts were missing something. Cameron was more interesting as an antagonist than his father. One of the things I found really funny was the absence of a school board. All decisions were just made by the staff and the final call was by the principal. No PTA either. Why would rich parents put their money in this school? If they can make the Network why not intervene directly? Zela was cool. I liked how competetive she was. I liked that she was beating these boys. I liked that she had that hidden obssessive streak. She's smart but her physical prowess seem so glossed over. If another person did all the training she did, they'd already be an athlete. I didn't like how little of the school I saw at the latter part. It's just sex, protest, class starts, fade out. Did she even compete in Math in her last year? The guys were okay but they started to become sex stick 1, 2, 3, and 4 at the last part. I knew Derek was a love interest at the start and even assumed the adopted part from the moment Zela said they were siblings. I just didn't know if Zela was Jonathan's daughter or not. It's weird that Dronika happened to have sex with these two extremely rich married men at around the same time. I get Zela was unstable but Derek didn't handle his refusal to believe her with delicacy so why didn't he just directly go for a DNA test? It feels like Melody's character was sidelined in favor of Jordan. At one part she was with Zela more often than the boys and then she appeared less. I thought she was plotting something but apparently not. Jordan was fun but how did she suddenly have an ex that made her unstable? They never even talked about it before Adam. I didn't know before that Adam's parents were from another series by the author. I was wondering why he was such a special snowflake sidekick.
