Rate this book
★ 2021 3rd Place Selah Award Winner ★ In the year 1717, Ricky embarks on an unexpected journey aboard a ship captained by Stede Bonnet, a wealthy sugar plantation owner who decides to abandon his comfortable life to set sail as a pirate. As they chart a course toward the North American coast, Bonnet’s crew runs afoul of the British Royal Navy and is put to the test when they encounter a heavily-armed warship. Soon the crew is stealing, killing, and plundering their way toward the Carolina's coast. Only when Bonnet's crew falls under the command of Blackbeard do the men truly learn what it means to become a pirate.

Blackbeard's leadership brings about a profound transformation in the men, revealing the depths of their wicked capabilities and unveiling the harsh realities of life at sea, pillaging ships, and the consequences of serving under the most black-hearted pirate that ever sailed.

Under Blackbeard's tutelage, Bonnet's crew navigates the treacherous waters of the Caribbean and North Atlantic coast, facing adversaries, mutinies, and prizes for the taking. Soon Bonnet's crew hones their skills and becomes a formidable crew, forever marked by their association with the notorious commander of the fleet.

Based on the true events of Bonnet's adventures, Blackbeard the Pirate and Stede Bonnet's Fateful Clash blends adventure, humor, and historical accuracy into a lively pirate yarn.

Parents can trust the Caribbean Chronicles Series. There is no sexual dialogue or situations, violence, or strong language, only a wee bit of humor. :)

Fast-paced story

Definitely a book that older middle grade readers would like. Interesting time travel idea intertwined with the challenge of health issues.

Lovely sequel for Ricky Bradshaw’s adventures

This is a series for any age. It’s clean and fun and a great way to spend an evening since all of the books are quite short. The main character is Ricky Bradshaw who suffers from epilepsy and petit mal absence seizures, which allow him to go back in time and spend weeks there, even though his seizures are very short. This time, Ricky has to go back in time in an attempt to save his mother, who was diagnosed with cancer. His adventures after joining Bonnet’s crew on “The Revenge” are painted extremely vividly by the author.

Even if you’re not a fan of pirates and stories of adventures on the sea, if you found this book give it a try. The whole series would make a great gift for children who are just starting to be interested in something more than simple children’s books. The story flows beautifully, and it’s very easy to read for young ones.
