Bria De Luca lives life without a safety-net. As a professional skydiver, she’s always ready to take a leap of faith. Even a bad landing that breaks a few bones, and a breakup that shakes her confidence a bit, isn’t enough to stop her from living her life full throttle. When she meets a hot Aussie at a Halloween party, she’s ready to ditch the costumes and play a little trick and treat.
Owen Blackthorne is in the States to visit his sister and to try and keep his mind off a life-changing phone call he’s waiting for. When the most amazing woman he's ever met grabs his attention at a rooftop party, he decides she's the distraction he was looking for.
Neither of them are looking for anything serious, and love at first sight only happens in the movies, so why does whatever's sparking between them start to feel so...significant?
Author Note: 100% insta-love warning. Plus there's a cinnamon roll hero you will just want to lick all over.
Lexxie’s not a deviant. She just has a deviant’s imagination and a desire to entertain readers with her words. Add the two together and you get darkly erotic romances with a twist of horror, sci-fi and the paranormal.
When she’s not submerged in the worlds she creates, Lexxie’s life revolves around her family, a husband who thinks she’s insane, a indoor cat who likes to stalk shadows, two yabbies hell-bent on destroying their tank and her daughters, who both utterly captured her heart and changed her life forever.
Having no idea how old she really is, Lexxie decided to go with 27 and has been that age for quite some time now. It's the best of both worlds - old enough to act mature, young enough to be silly.
And silly she can be. Just ask her husband who frequently has to endure her bursting into song whenever the mood strikes her, feeling him up in public (one of her favorite pastimes), or rolling around in the sand with their dog - a large mutt of dubious origins who causes almost as much havoc around the neighborhood as Lexxie herself. Or squealing her way down the slide at the local park with her daughter!
Lexxie lives by two simple rules - measure your success not by how much money you have, but by how often you laugh, and always try everything at least once. As a consequence, she's laughed her way through many an eyebrow raising adventure.
Lexxie Couper packs a lot into this novella and I loved every minute of it. A heroine with an adventurous streak, a hero determined to live his life to the fullest, a Halloween costume party, and the hook-up that turns into more. Witty, crazy, and sexy yet with a serious side, Along Came An Aussie reminded me of why I love reading this author so much.
Aussie Owen Blackthorn thought dressing up as the late Steve Irwin with a stingray attached to his chest was a good idea, but so far everyone at this American party at his sister’s apartment complex doesn’t seem to get his sense of humor, until he literally bumped into a life sized Scooby Doo. Bria DeLuca can’t believe the hunk with a sense of humor she just found and after a long recovery from a sky diving accident, he seems just the right kind of guy to get her back into action.
Let’s be frank; they meet and things heat up to one hell of a sexy good time within a couple of hours, but during that time and after they learn quite a bit about one another and truly enjoy each other’s company. They had an instant connection they were both feeling, but Owen’s hiding something big that can destroy their fledgling relationship.
I enjoyed these two immensely, yes they moved at a fast pace but it was a party hook-up or so they thought until they both developed feelings they weren’t expecting. I enjoyed their verbal volley and look forward to seeing them again when Bria’s sisters find their match. By the way Bria is the oldest of three triplets, but Elisa and Zeta are identical.
A bit of escapism that was just what I needed, I loved Along Came an Aussie.
I really enjoyed this latest book by Lexxie Couper which had witty dialogue, humor and super hot sex scenes. Owen Blackthorne and Bria DeLuca were very likable characters and had great chemistry right from the start. I enjoyed watching these two fall for each other even though it was super quick and even when it looked like there might be something serious on the horizon. I’m looking forward to reading about the other two DeLuca sisters.
I have always loved to read a wonderful story of a man out of his comfort zone finding love with a woman living life to the fullest and Lexxie's newest short but sexy story is a wonderful example. Couper is one of those authors that can take even the shortest story and keep it interesting, sensual, sweet and romantic despite its length. This story is about a man that has traveled half-way around the world to take his mind off his problems and find a way to cope with the possibility of a life altering truth. When he meets a woman that blows him away, dressed in the most outlandish Halloween costume at a party he didn’t even want to attend no less, he doesn’t know if he should trust his heart or believe the doubts in love at first sight. But this isn’t the kind of woman that will allow anyone to make a decision for her and when she meets the man of her dreams, even if it seems insane she isn’t letting him go. I really enjoyed getting to know Owen Blackthorne (and oh-My-Gods, I can’t believe there are more of those men running around in Lexxie’s mind she hasn't already shared with us) and his intelligence and sweetness. He is on the cusp of a serious life changing bit of news, and keeping his mind off of the call by embracing the crazy heat and sensuality he feels with Bria shows he is smart enough to know a good thing when he sees it. He definitely has a lot of fears to deal with, and there were a few moments you wanted to smack him for being an ass, but overall he is a good guy, funny and cute AF too. Bria has lived through some things recently that make her wary of men, but on the same coin she knows that when she meets Owen she had met her perfect match. When things get deep and complicated extremely quickly, she shows the strength of both her backbone of steel and her heart as she refuses to let him walk into his future alone no matter what it might hold. I love Bria and she is definitely the type of woman I could see being the friend we all need to remind us that sometimes you just need to jump in with both feet and embrace life without a plan. The heat between Owen and Bria was off the charts and only got more so as their story went on, but though their story was short, it’s obvious from the depth of their connection that they will find a way to make a future together no matter what comes their way. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy as Bria’s triplet sisters find their matches as well and I can imagine they will be just as sexy, though in their own unique ways I am sure.
CW: Medical issues, talk of cancer, talk of prior injury, cheating (not the MC of FMC), panic or anxiety attack
I'm torn. The first issue isn't the book's fault, but Amazon needs to remove this from the 'Later-in-Life Romance' category, as this is NOT a later-in-life romance. That in itself isn't an issue for me but just not what I thought I was going to read. But my second issue is I HATE the whole family sharing personal information, especially medical information when asked not to. Normally I would have DNF'ed there, but it being a short Halloween story I thought give it a go, I'm not sure I should have...
What was with the costume?! I try to remember Aussies might have the type of humor, but for me, poking fun at Steve Irwin's death would be a no-go!!
I'm loving this series. I read book 2 first which I really enjoyed, so of course I had to go back and read book 1. I think I like this one even better. This is pretty much an insta-love-lust story but it is well written, still believable and loads of fun. The spicy scenes are also great. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
Brian is at an apartment party. Owen, an Aussie, is dragged by his sister, Tilly, to the rooftop party. He's got a secret but decides to have fun. Owen and Bria meet at the party. Read the book to find out what happens.
Owen and Bria instantly connected, cementing their HEA in a single night, crazy exes and protective sisters aside. Combustible from beginning to end. If only it could be so in real life, without the health scare of course.
Short, but cute, insta-love story. Looking forward to the other two De Luca sisters' books.
**UPDATE** Read this again in preparation for the rest of the series, now that they're both finally released. And I liked it even more the second time!
