I have to say, Heart of a Champion; Soul of a Boss started off really slow for me. It didn't capture my attention right out the gate like the other books. Oh but, baby, when it finally did start to jump off, it got good! Lawd, Ville was trash. He was the worse kind of backstabber. He'll look you dead in your eyes and tell you he loves you while sticking a 10 inch blade in the center of your back. Ville was the true definition of a wolf in sheep's clothing. I pretty much figured out he was the one causing all the chaos early on. Ville gave me snake vibes from the very beginning. But, Champion had somethin' for that azz. He gave Ville exactly what he was askin' for. While Champion was dealing with Ville's dirty azz, Nitalia was dealing with the snakes in her family too. Roman and Gavin were trash too. They were the worst brothers ever! At least, in the end, Gavin's conscious started getting to him and he tried to do the right thing. When all the secret tea about Nitalia's childhood came out, whew chile, my mind was blown! Speaking of Champion, Lawd that man was sexy. Walking around Mobile, AL just exuding BDE. I absolutely loved him and Nitalia as a couple but, I was extremely pissed off with Champion after the way he treated Nitalia when Ville set her up. He accused her of setting him up, disrespected and embarrassed her in front of everyone and he never even apologized! When she woke up in the hospital, it's like that confrontation never even happened. It was never brought up again. Nah! That's not sitting right with my spirit. After the way Champion came for Nitalia, she was owed an apology. Although it was a slow start, I really enjoyed taking this journey with Natalia and Champion. The Halos were the perfect addition to the Smith and McQueen crew. We get to meet the Jackson clan in the next book. Lets see if they measure up to our favorite siblings.

Nitalia x Champion
While this story was not different from the other stories in this series, this one was rather slow in the beginning. I did not get a lot between Champion and Nitalia. It was a lot of "will they, won't they." There was definitely attraction and chemistry between Champ and Nita. But it took them forever to do anything about the attraction.
Now I was super annoyed with Champion because the betrayal was evident in his face, yet he didn't do anything about it. But I guess because he goes way back with ol dude, he was extending a lot of grace to him. Cause if it had been any other dude, anybody else, I know Champion would have took them out. Immediately. And the way he came at my friend with the pictures after Pensacola. It had me livid. I wanted an apology. I'm sure he apologized to her or whatever, but I wanted it in the pages of this book cause he definitely tried her.
The end of this book was soo packed. It was a lot of "who done it" IMO. Almost everything happened in the last 25 maybe 30% of the book. To me, Champion wasn't very proactive.(I could tell you why I feel that way, but I might give the story away.) But he still got things done.
Nitalia was sweet, loyal AF and overall badass. She did have a whole going on with her family. The way this book ended, she got dealt a heavy hand. But she a G. Especially with her man by her side.

Dayyyuuummm, and just like that I'm a fan...
Queen M. Monique is cold asf with that pen honey! Yup I'm reading out of order but hey, I'm new to her catalog🤷🏽. When it comes to Champ & Pain, all I hear is Cardi B. "If he had a twin is let 'em run a train"🤣. They ain't twins but, hey😜🤷🏽.
From jump Ville gave me snake vibes but dayyyuuummm that ninja didn't have a loyal bone in his body. That grimy ish he was into just didn't make since. He was beyond greedy, like he had the money and everything and it still want enough🤡. He deserved to burn in hell, for all the havoc he brought to the purple who loved him.
Champ exuded BDE😜! That man loved his family and friend, and was loyal asf. After the murder of his best friend his protective instincts has him crossing paths with Natalia and ex-cop to get her to protect his sister Kay-Kay.
Natalia still processing the loss of her father and losing her brothers who blamed her for his death. Natalia was seeking a change in her life, so after leaving the police force she starts her own security business. Presented with an opportunity by one of her beast friends to put herself and business on the map, she meets with Champ.

Champ thought he was a beast until he witness Natalia in action after having to save hers and Kay-Kay's life. Nat was a force to be reckoned with, them boys wasn't ready for her.
Throughout all the drama and ambushes Ville & Roman caused Champ & Natalia, her brother Gavin gave her the best blessing when he wore her that letter beanie he got killed. I was so happy she was able to greet the closer she needed involving the dad she was advised of killing and her Biological father who was killed by her the man who raised her. Being introduced to her real brothers and other family was amazing.
I really enjoyed taking this journey with Champ & Natalia. So looking forward to reading Kay-Kay & Houston story.

Betrayal, lies, and secrets
This author is on the top of the list as one of my favorite romantic suspense authors along with Maureen Smith. She also brings in the urban spice giving you a story that has you on the edge of your seat. Whew...this story contained betrayal, secret, and lies while giving us the necessary chemistry, fiery at that, between Champion and Nitalia. I enjoyed every ounce of this story and moving on to the next book in the catalog.
This author is on the top of the list as one of my favorite romantic suspense authors along with Maureen Smith. Well that was interesting. A lot unfolded towards the end. A lot of things were revealed that I was not expecting. We all knew Ville was a snake from the beginning. That was pretty obvious though. I’m really not understanding how Champion didn’t see it.

Yaaasss! This was 🔥! Oh, the twists and turns, the drama, greed and jealousy! So, damn good! Champion was a boss, but also a loyal friend, and caring loving brother. They way he stood up to care for his siblings, showed his true character. Nitalia, was a boss in her own right, finding her way after tragedy. These two together were destined to be a force! They easily formed a bond, and cohabited to take care of Kay Kay. I knew it, I knew it! It be the ones closest to you that are the snakes and the biggest haters!! Didn't want the story to end, I was so into it! Glad we were able to catch up with the Smith brothers, and Dallas. Cannot wait to see Kay Kay and Houston's story. Great read! 👍👍👍

This was my least favorite book in the series thus far. The only reason I gave it 5 stars was because the story line was decent and Nita made it worth finishing. The story line was a lot slower to unravel than the previous books in the series and then everything was rushed out in the last 40 pages. Champion was dumb af and I’m mad she forgave his bum @$$ so easily. *Spoilers ahead* Nitalia was everything! She was a true boss that didn’t take ish off nobody. I like how she stood her ground with Champion. Even when they fell for each other she still let him know she was a real one despite him wanting to be an Alpha. I hated how he so easily folded on her based off the words of Ville when he was doubting his loyalty himself. Ville stayed proving that he was a snake and being in places where he shouldn’t have been but Champion was in denial while Nita had proven to be solid when she saved his sisters life, defended her against class mate, moved his money, and so much more. She didn’t have a snake bone in her body and I feel like she forgave him way to easily. She could’ve died behind his mess. Nita should’ve left him where he stood and moved on. I loved her Kay Kay’s relationship as well as how the Smith twins, Yaya and their mama rode hard for her. Let’s see what Illyon is all about.

M. Monique. Hunny you did it again. I loved this book! Nita was something serious with her weapon. I fell in love with her, she wasn't gonna take sh*t from nobody, not even her so called daddy or brothers. I felt kinda bad for Lesley, for all the crap that Ville put her through, for Ville, to beat her and make her loss the baby he was a piece of sh*t! I was sad when Rome sick a** killed Toshi. I'm glad he was put in jail so maybe he will get what's coming to him. Champion, didn't play bout Kay-Kay. Champion wanted his sister safe. I don't blame him though, with a so called friend like Ville, I would want her safe too. M. Monique, can't wait for the next book!!😂

M. Monique can pen a page turner for sure.
I enjoyed Champion’s story but I wanted more from him and Nitalia. They had good chemistry and reading more about their love would’ve taken the story up a notch.
A lot of focus was on what happened to Retro and that part was so obvious to me.
Overall, I enjoyed it!

Baby when I tell you, miss mamas wrote Natalia and Champ’s story with her whole chest and a fresh out the pack pen! She did that! We had action, drama, romance, spice, and plots that had more twists that a fresh two strand on wash day!!!!

I loved everything about this story! Champion is so hard, yet loving, compassionate, and loyal! The love he had for Natalia and Kay Kay made him such a joy to read about it!! Since I've read M. Monique's first book I've been hooked on her writing skills. I enjoyed this from beginning to end it's a real page turner. I loved the plot twist. Good job.

Some issues bring this one down a bit.
The fact that Nitalia repeatedly states she shot/ killed Monica during the first 40 or so pages (when it was Megan who killed Monica and Nitalia killed Megan) irked me something vicious. Then, the fact that's around page 48ish, the mistake is suddenly corrected, and Nitalia remembers it was Megan she killed, NOT Monica, irks me even more.
The fact that Champion missed EVERY CLUE that Ville( His name is Village😶) was shady makes me question him hard. Seriously, I'm asking 'how sway?!' Maybe he was too close to the situation, but come on. Even when Nitalia gave the deets, he was in denial. He never questioned the right ish.
Nitalia made a lot of dumb moves. She would see shady ish and just not say anything. It was clear Ville was a snake, so idk why she kept giving him ammo. After the bbq, she should've figured that it's best to relay the info asap.
I think Retro knew about Ville and was going to tell Champion. Based on how Champ reacted to Nitalia, I understand why Retro was nervous.
There was no accountability from Champ expressed for how dogged Nitalia at the end, and I didn't like that. Champ said some foul ish only to find out Nitalia was right and he was completely wrong.

I was so disappointed with Champion for how he treated Nitalia. I didn't like how he accused Nitalia of setting him up and he didn't trust her. Like after her accident all was forgiven. This was such a great read. I must say though this book is a prime example of why you should read things in order. A lot of things came into focus when I read this. Champ and Nita are sooo crazy and than you add Kay-Kay in the mix and you really got problems. I loved these 3 relationship because it was solid and genuine. Nita built a relationship with Kay-Kay as she would her own sister. She let her know when things were getting crazy but also have her sound advice. I am definitely getting the connections thru the books and I love it lol. Nita definitely played hard to get but still wanted Champ though. She put up a small fight but Champ was not having it. Definitely didn't like Ville at all and I can't wait to read the rest of the catalog!!!

Good
I enjoyed this book. Gatah, Dallas, Stephan, Yaya, Mariah, and Houston made an appearance it was good seeing them. This book! The twists and turns were ALL good! Champion and Nita were a good couple. I liked that she was strong, capable, beautiful and fearless. Champ was magnetic and sexy! I liked that Nita didn't immediately jump into bed with him. I enjoyed this book. Gatah, Dallas, Stephan, Yaya, Mariah, and Houston made an appearance it was good seeing them. This book! The twists and turns were ALL good! Champion and Nita were a good couple. I liked that she was strong, capable, beautiful and fearless. Champ was magnetic and sexy! I liked that Nita didn't immediately jump into bed with him. Monique did her thing easily 5 stars! Nita and Champ, two simple characters, captured my attention with their emotional maturity and genuine connection.
The author effortlessly created this genuine bond between Nita and Champ, I couldn't help but be impressed by how quickly they overcame obstacles and stood by each other through it all. Despite the presence of V. and R. these two characters remained strong and true to each other.
Unfortunately, not all characters made it to the end, and I couldn't help but wonder how their love story would have played out if they had. It would have been different than other stories I have read.
Really good read Monique never misses the mark.

Loved it!
I'm truly enjoying this author's writings. I see my girl Nitalia was with the sh*ts for real! Champion didn't play about his heart nor his hearts! Ville was a punk. An envious, dirty ninja and his daddy saw that in him from jump that's why he didn't allow him to be his second in command. The story should've showed the grievance Nitalia and Bubba experienced losing Yoshi. That was her best friend so that scene should've been added. Outside of that, this was a great read!

What can I say, this author sure knows how to tell a story. Champ and Nitalia.🔥🔥. Champ wasn’t one to trust easily but he eventually did with Nitalia. Their relationship grew quickly and I’m glad they got their HEA. Glad the snakes got dealt with. Good to see the Smith family make a little appearance😜😜. Queen Bee!!!
Nitalia is what’s happening! Loved her! She was strong, yet gentle and kind. She wasn’t ratchet. She could handle her own and she put it on Champion to the point where he didn’t know what to do. Great book and even better plot. It wasn’t as predictable as some of these books are. It was a nice twist from the norm, no jealous exes. I guess I’m on to the next book. I can’t wait to read about these Jackson brothers.

Like a Champ!
I liked Champ character, but Nitalia for some reason didn’t grow on me like Yaya and Mariah. I love those two ladies. Nita being an ex-cop came across very ugh. Again I was not feeling her.
There were so many snakes in the garden that it was unreal. Greed makes people do dumb things and betrays the ones they love! Who needs enemies when you have friends and family like those folks. Glad they got what they deserved.

Whew chile
Champion was a savage...I mean 🔥 as his weapon of destruction? He was a quiet observant man and those are the most dangerous kind. I like that he tried to hold on to that trust and loyalty but once the smoke and mirrors cleared it was 🔥 for those that messed with his. This one had me holding my breath on the next turn because it had alot of mystery to it. He lost friends along the way but gained the one soul he was meant to have.

Another great read
I have been reading through M. Monique’s catalog and she has fully captivated my attention with this suspense romance. Champion and Anita had a lot going on but whew their romance was intense. Nitalia was a bad chick, sis didn’t take anything from anyone including Champion, her mouth was reckless and Champs response had me chuckling. I figured Ville wasn’t loyal but whew the rest of the storyline took me by surprise, which is in true M. Monique fashion.

Nothing but that thug love
Man that Champ is a thug but for his Queen he is a teddy bear. It was a trip to see all those twist with Ville killing Retro over money that he wasn't going to get anyways. How Nitalia thought she killed her father when that wasn't her real daddy, her brother helped kill her momma and step daddy killed her real daddy. Like that family was off the chain. Glad Champ and Nitalia found out the truth about those around them. Overall great story

M.Moniques has become one of my new favorite Authors. Even though her books are shorter ranging from a little over 180-200 or so pages, her pacing is well done. Idk how she able to do it but she does it so well. She gives you all the information needed and the romance isn’t rushed.
And I will forever talk about the way she does “found family” it gets me every time!
She also write very strong mmc & fmc!
This book is part of a series and I think it’s worth the read!
