There are three things to know about me. One, that I am the lifelong female best friend of Lars Love, one of the crown princes of Denmark. For a decade, I’ve been known as Lars’s better half, the one that seemingly doesn’t notice his swaggering good looks and womanizing ways.
Two, that I am definitely, breathlessly, ridiculously, head over heels in love with my best friend. I have been ever since we’ve met, but it always seemed that actually dating him was out of the question for a girl from the wrong side of the tracks.
And three, that I’m not really Pippa Welch… and I’m afraid that I’m going to be found out.
When Lars begs me to pretend to be his fiancee for a few months, I hastily agree without thinking it through. After all, he is going to play act everything I’ve ever dreamed of. He’ll hold me tight and kiss me deeply and whisper dirty things in my ear at fancy parties.
It’s a dream come true… until we are in private. Because I can't allow myself to fall for him. I put boundaries and rules in place to save me. But as he kisses me deeply on the lips, as he slides his arm around my waist, as he looks at me with those eyes that speak of whispered passions… I’m taunted by the only thing in life I’ve ever truly wanted but cannot have.
This hot royal novel will tempt you like no other. The story of Lars and Pippa is the third full length standalone in the Dirty Royals series. It's got it all: blazing-hot lust, dazzling wealth, off-limits romance, witty banter, and raw emotions.
I can’t wait for you to meet Lars, your newest and baddest ROYAL book boyfriend!
🔥Blurb for Royal Fake Fiancé🔥
I’m Pippa Welch, and there are three things you should know about me.
One, I’ve been the steadfast and loyal best friend of His Royal Highness Lars Løve VII, the second in line to the throne of Denmark, since we met in middle school. I’m also quite possibly the only woman in the country who’s never fallen into bed with him.
Two, I would fall into bed with Lars in a heartbeat, and he has no idea.
And three, I’m not really Pippa Welch. Everything is fine until the night he comes to me, gets on one knee, pops open a ring box, and… ...asks if I’ll fake an engagement with him.
Lars has been there for me my whole life, so I jump at the chance to help him before I can think better of it. Take some official photos and show my face at some fancy events?
Anything for my bestie, the man for whom I’ve held a torch for a decade.
Only I’m not expecting him to slide his arm around my waist, pull me closer, and kiss me so deeply I can’t think straight. He’s not supposed to whisper I want to taste you in my ear during a royal ball, or to slip me the tongue during the New Years’ parade.
And I really, really wasn’t expecting him to keep up the charade in private.
Lars is slowly breaking down every barrier I’ve put up to keep him out of my heart, and more than anything, I want to let him make this engagement real… but I can’t let him find out my secret.
See, if I let my mask slip, I’m not the only one whose life would be shattered. And if I’m not careful, I’ll lose the man I love and my best friend in the entire world in one fell swoop…
I'm breaking with the ranks here. Umm, I’m not sure what to say about this book. Don’t bother? Not much substance? Unless you have nothing else to read, don’t waste the time? I know that all sounds pretty harsh. Royal Fake Fiancee wasn’t all bad! In fact, it started out really well and I had high hopes. Two students, outcasts by most accounts, forge a friendship in middle school that has lasted at least fifteen years. That’s not the norm. They have secretly been in love with one another for years. Now they may finally figure it out and reach their HEA. Which, of course, is exactly what they do. OK, that wasn’t a spoiler. This is a romance, you know that’s what’s going to happen. There are obstacles in the way of that HEA: a conniving grandmother; a dark secret and shame; dashed dreams (refer to conniving grandmother again). Those are the major obstacles, there are minor ones as well. There are times (most of the time) that the main characters seem to be stuck in high school mentality but other times they show they have gained maturity with age. Did I enjoy this one? Well, parts of it. Enough that I did finish it. Was I involved with the characters? Yeah, for the most part, but in all honesty, I did skim many scenes. I don’t feel like I totally wasted my time, but if I had not read it I wouldn’t have really missed much. One of my pet peeves was at Code Red…the editing is terrible! There are so many misused words, dropped words, awkward wording, added words, etc that you’ll find at least one on almost every other page.
I believe this was the third or fourth in a series but in no way did it take away from how great this story was. You can definitely read it without the others. This was my first read from this author and I definitely loved her style.
We meet second in line to the throne, Lars. He's a playboy but he slowly reveals more of himself. His best friend for years, Pippa is a strong heroine but hiding things even from her best friend and not just the fact she might be in love with him. Their chemistry as friends is fantastic and just gets better as they develop more feelings. The story is sexy and steamy with sides of mystery and intrigue. I loved how it flowed nicely and even more how everything happened.
As teenagers Lars met Pippa when they found themselves attending the same school and they have been best friends ever since. He has always appreciated that she sees him for the man he is and not the fact that he is second in line to inherit the throne. When his reputation with the ladies gets him into a situation with his family she is also the one person that he can turn to.
Pippa has loved Lars for as long as she can remember but she knows that friends is all that they are destined to be between her secret and the fact that he is royalty. When he needs her to pretend to be his fiancé even though she can’t say no she is hoping that it doesn’t destroy the most important relationship in her life.
The characters draw you in and while their chemistry is hot it is the way they support each other that makes them so perfect together. As a bonus we get to catch up with all the other characters we know and love from this series
It's been a long time since I read a royal romance and I didn't think I needed it until this one! This is one amazing read!
Lars and Pippa have been friends for years. So when Lars needs a favor, Pippa agrees to it. What starts out as fake turns into something more before they know it. They have an amazing connection and chemistry. The twists and turns in their story make it all the more interesting and attention-grabbing.
Go and read this one! I can't recommend this enough.
Pippa and Lars have been the best of friends since they were young and each is harboring feelings for the other in secret cause they don’t want to ruin the friendship they have but when Lars asks her to be his fake fiancé she agrees with no hesitation but is taken back cause what’s fake feels so real but it makes the secret she’s keeping from him more worrisome. This is my favorite book of the series
2.5 stars - I would have given a solid 3 but the poor editing really took me out of the story. I mean, who misspells f*ck? The main characters, Pippa and Lars, have known each other for years, but I could not figure out if they had matured or not. I did not enjoy this read as much as I had wanted. I usually enjoy friends to lovers storylines but this one fell flat for me.
A friends to lover type of book that will give you so the feels for the two. Angst, drama, chemistry, passion, twists and turns that will make you fall in love with Lars and Pippa.
This was baaaaad! And I'm not exaggerating because it really was bad. In fact, I don't even know where to start.
The blurb sounded really interesting and the cover is quite nice too. The rest? A complete mess.
The editing and therefore the writing is awful. There were so many typos and grammatical mistakes it left me irritated and annoyed af like did really no one reread it and checked it???? The writing? No offense but it sounded like a first grader wrote it for the most part. Repetitive, weird time jumps and the feeling as if you missed reading whole chapters in between. Total disaster.
The characters? I did not like any of them and didn't give any kind of fuck. I blame the writing because yeah... the storytelling was meh and the secret of Pippa had me roll my eyes hard. He, on the other hand, was a complete prick. Plus, tbf I never met a royal but you cannot tell me that royals act and speak like they did in the book. And no security when alone in public and all? lmao Yeah, right.
Honestly, I have quit some books lately but this was the cherry on top when it comes to really bad and terrible books good lord.
Author Vivian Wood has done wonderful things in writing this Royal series, and this time is Lars and Pippa’s story, the one I have been waiting for. Best friends to lovers, fake engagements and a huge secret meant that I was captivated from the start.
Each in this series is a stand-a-lone, BUT, the best feel for the characters is of course gained through reading the earlier books, and I’m telling you now, this is no hardship. Ms Wood writes the best in bad boys, and the hot dirty talking sex is one hell of a bonus! Throughout these first books, Pippa has been Prince Lars one constant best friend. The looks of longing, and the odd behaviour between them has been noticed by his siblings, and her friends. Their book, told in a dual POV is finally here, and I loved it!
In Lars POV, we get their first day of meeting as barely teen newbies at a boarding school far from home, and I really felt that Ms Woods gave him an air of melancholy as he spoke of loneliness and the burden of being the spare to the heir. Right through his book, Lars never resented Stellan as heir or King, but his whole existence was defined as a ‘spare’, not good enough as the ‘real heir’ but too valuable to undertake the risky goal that he’d strived for, his entire life. I truly felt the burden weigh heavily around his neck. I read that moment when he fell in love with Pippa, where he knew she was too important to him to risk a move to more, and where he’s always known that she’d held a part of herself back from him.
Pippa had watched the boy she loved grow into a gorgeous man, albeit one who liked to spread his sexual favours far and wide. She knew of his goals and familial frustrations, and valued his friendship above all else, never showing her heart to a man who seemed to treat women like toys to be used only once. The tension between them though, could be cut through with a knife, and Ms Woods really capitalised on that as she put them through the motions of a forced fake engagement.
As with subsequent books in a series, I absolutely loved catching up with Stellan and Margot, and Erik and Nika, especially when they get all up in the business of our main characters. They really are a great support network for each other, and when there was someone in the background playing chess with their royal lives, they really needed to be watching each other’s backs.
This was a truly hot and romantic book to finish up this great and well written royal series from Vivian Wood. 5 Stars 👑
“I shouldn’t have chosen the girl I’m in love with to fake an engagement.”
I have been waiting for Pippa and Lars’ story since the Dirty Royals series began and I was so excited that they were going to be in a fake relationship. That’s my jam and Royal Fake Fiancé did not disappoint. Lars and Pippa have been best friends since childhood and both have secretly been in love with the other one for years but have never acted on those feelings. Will a fake engagement force their secrets out into the open?
I would never have guessed the secret that Pippa had been hiding. Her past was so unexpected and I could feel her terror in being discovered. She was so vulnerable in this story and I loved how Lars was so protective of her. He cherished her and he helped her overcome her fears and insecurities.
Lars was so much more than the second in line for the throne and a restless playboy. He had goals and dreams of his own outside of throne and Pippa encouraged him in everything. All she wanted was the best for him.
Pippa and Lars truly brought out the best in each other and I loved how they fought for one another. Their chemistry was scorching and their banter was sexy and adorable. I highly recommend the entire Dirty Royals series if you enjoy strong, independent woman and the men who love them.
Royal Fake Fiancé is the fourth book in the Dirty Royals series and it focuses on Lars and Pippa's story. We were introduced to both characters briefly in the other book of the series, but I was very much looking forward to their full story. They have been best friends for years, but these two keep a physical distance between them because there is an attraction they both feel. However, fearing the loss of their friendship, they never tell each other how they really feel for one another. Lars is a playboy and his family, especially his Momse or grandmother, is very much over his waywardness. Due to this, they want him to marry a diplomat's daughter he slept with. Fearing losing his independence, he asks his best friend Pippa to fake being his fiancé for a few months. Pippa cannot say no to Lars, so she finds herself agreeing, but she is keeping secrets of her own. And these secrets are getting close to being revealed. When these two are forced together and to act romantic, they find that those feelings they kept bottled up are hard to resist. Will they really get to a happily ever after? I am loving this series and I am excited to read the next book to learn more about this royal family!
Title: Royal Fake Fiancé Author: Vivian Wood Format: Ebook Genre: Romance, royal, friends-to-lovers, fake fiancé, suspense Standalone: Yes Part of a Series: Book 3 in the Dirty Royals series (Book 4 if you include the prequel) POV: Pippa and Lars Steam Level: Slow burn to toasty 5/5
Royal Fake Fiancé is the third book in the Dirty Royals series. Each book in a standalone with interconnecting characters, meaning you don't have to have read the previous books but if you do then you're familiar with the characters and you get to see some more of the previous couples' HEAs. Series of interconnected standalones are my favorite.
I loved the suspense aspect included in this story. And, when the big reveal happened I didn't see it coming but I also wasn't surprised. Each book of Vivian Wood's gets better and I think Royal Fake Fiancé may be my favorite of this series. I also hope there are more royal stories to come (There are two other siblings and another character introduced in this book who could have their own story). Royal Fake Fiancé was a fast-paced story with a ton of twists and turns without a lot of angst.
I received an advanced copy of this book for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.
This Royal Romance series has been very entertaining and each couple has to fight through the struggles of balancing a royal life with trying to maintain a somewhat normal relationship. This story focuses on Lars, who is second in line to the throne if anything was to happen to his brother Stellan, the future king of Denmark. It is a friends to lovers, fake fiance trope where Lars and his best friend Pippa agree to a fake engagement to pacify their overbearing grandmother, or momse as she is otherwise known as. Their relationship may be fake, however their chemistry and hidden true feelings for one another definitely are not.
Once these two stop fighting their mutual attraction, things get quite hot and steamy as they explore their new found feelings for one another, however Pippa is hiding a secret from Lars that could threaten to ruin their newly built budding romance and tear apart their chance at a true happily ever after. This is a really good series and I am having so much fun reading about the Love Royal family and how they each get to find their other half. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC and this is my honest review.
This was such an addictive read, as soon as I started I found myself unable to put the book down. Every aspect left me wanting more, pulling me in even deeper. Yes it can be read as a stand-alone but I suggest you read the two previous books to fully experience and understand how everything interlinks. HRH Lars Love had been best friends without benefits with Pippa Welch since school days, he is a first class player but Pippa knows that however how would she feel when he asks her a huge favour to get him out of a fix with his interfering scheming old grandmother. Remaining emotionless could be a fate they are both incapable of keeping?? BUT Pippa has a secret what will be the fall out when it’s exposed?? Will Margot her bestie who is now Queen and married to Stellan, Lars’s older brother be there to support her and make her see reason?? So many questions but only one right answer, so without doubt a book you don’t want to miss. I was given this as an ARC by the author in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I was totally happy to provide.
Disappointing and I really recommend you don't bother
Honestly, is this book supposed to be by the same Vivian Wood that wrote the two previous books about this royal family? This book had so many editorial errors and plot issues! While the two previous books were pretty standard for this kind of trope, the first one I really enjoyed and the last one I still thought was pretty good despite a few issues. This one just took a nose dive. The hero has supposedly done something so bad that he either has to get married or he will be disinherited and be kicked out of the military. Not long after that in the book, the hero says he either has to get married or has to JOIN the military. Is he in the military or not? I mean I just read this kind of trope as entertainment. I certainly don't expect it to be 100% accurate (since it is fiction after all), but the one example I gave about the mistake with the military reference was this was just the beginning of the missteps. It was altogether a very disappointing book. Do not recommend at all. Sorry.
I like the premise of the story, child kindred spirits meet become friends, have a secret crush on each other, stay bf into adulthood.
But there were numerous things that I didn't like. The most glaring of which was the grammatical errors. Usually, I can ignore a their-there but when it's a completely different word that confuses what is supposed to be going on, it's hard to miss. The fact that there were sooo many was ridiculous. Inconsistencies are never a good thing and there were plenty of those.
Another is when the H is supposed to be so in love with the h, that they are the worst of the playboy pool. And they flaunt that fact to the h.
Way too much intimacy, I skipped over that because I get tired of part A into part B blah blah blah. No, I'm not a prude I just get tired of the act taking up so many pages that could be used to explain the plot holes.
While I may be a gluten for punishment, I was kind of hoping for books about Finn and the youngest brother.
I loved this book so much! I'm going to be 100% honest here and say that the previous book in this series (His Forbidden Princess) made me fall and fall hard. It is totally my favorite and I truly did not expect another entry in this series to try to steal my heart away...but this one did and while I will not say that it succeeded in taking the top spot I do feel that it sits right beside it. This storyline really grabbed my attention. This friends-to-lovers, royal romance has an intriguing twist that takes this read to a whole other level. The chemistry and connection between Lars and Pippa is steamy and deep. I highly recommend this book. It is one very emotional, dramatic, angsty, tension-filled, passionate romance that is as juicy as it is swoon worthy. I am electing to post a sincere review.
I have been waiting for Lars and Pippa’s story since the very beginning of the series. Vivian did not disappoint me with their story. Lars and Pippa have been beat friend’s since they were teenagers, however, Pippa has been keeping a secret for the past 15 years about who she is and her past. Lars has been keeping a secret about his feelings for Pippa. I absolutely loved how Vivian weaved their love story. There is drama, blackmail, secrets, angst, twist and some hot as heck chemistry between these two. There is also an undeniably strong connection that no one can truly break. They are meant for each other. Now, while you don’t need to read the other books as they are all stand-alone, I think you can get a better enjoyment out of starting at the beginning. Vivian has weaved such a beautiful story of the Love siblings and I love them all.
Dirty little secrets never make friends, and when you add in some royal intrigue, well, you have a story that will keep you glued to the pages as you wait for all to be revealed. Pippa & Lars (one of the crown princes of Denmark) have been besties since they were teenagers, and he is harboring secret feelings for her. She also has secret feelings for him, but she's got an extra HUGE secret that will cause some issues since she's been lying to him for a very long time. See?! That big secret will only add more twists that allow my f-bombs to rain down in every direction. Lars gets Pippa to play his fake fiance, but things don't honestly feel fake whatsoever, because these two have some serious chemistry shooting sparks everywhere. Add in the drama & angst, well, it's a perfect read to get the emotions out to run amok. I LOVED this story, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Such a great story! The 4th standalone book in this series with interconnected characters. We've met Pippa before-she is pink-haired Margot's best friend. Margot, who married Stellan, now the king of his country. Lars is Stellan's younger brother, and has known Pippa since they were both young teens in boarding school. They have been best friends for years & neither one wants to ruin their relationship. I loved finding out about Lars & his ambitions and dedication. Once he made up his mind, his pursuit of Pippa was relentless. I also enjoyed the friendship of Margot, Pippa, and Nika. Pippa had a great story to her-a huge history, royal friends, a fashionista—it just made the plot that much more interesting. A fabulous job by Ms Wood!
I received a copy of this book. My honest opinion is voluntarily provided.
Oh my damn! This book has it all: a hot prince, friends to lovers, fake romance, down and dirty scenes, and a mystery. If I could give this book more than five stars, I would. Pippa and Lars have been friends forever. When Pippa’s past threatens her future and her loved ones, all bets and schemes are off. Just when you think it’s safe for Pippa, another curveball gets thrown into the mix. This is when all hell breaks loose and believe me y’all, it’s perfection.
I really loved this story. I felt a connection to all of the characters and I’m going back to read the other books in this series. This is the perfect story to read on a cold wintry day.
Lars and Pippa have been best friends for so long but when Lars needs a favour he can only think of one person he trusts to ask of it. He needs a fake fiancé to keep his family off his back. Only problem is he has feelings for Pippa that no one can know about. Being a royal is never easy but being second in line to the throne is harder.
How can Pippa say no when Lars proposes they pretend they are getting married. He is the one constant in her life and someone she should be able to tell the truth to. You see Pippa has a secret that she can’t tell anyone, but the only problem is the past is about to catch up to Pippa in the most destructive of ways not to mention she is also secretly in love with him.
This one has been a long time coming but boy was it worth the wait.
I read this book voluntarily for an honest review.
I think that this could have been a good book if the author had gotten someone to read it before putting it on Kindle. There are hundreds of errors and it really stopped me from fully enjoying the story. Unfortunately there were phrases used multiple times in the story that had me irritated by the end of the book. At least two characters pushed their tongue into their cheeks! Such an odd thing to begin with, but to have it described the same way 3-5 times was too much for me. I won’t be too harsh on the author because I finished the book, but I wouldn’t seek out any more of her writing. A shame because her minor characters seemed interesting and I would have liked to have found out how they got together. Quick raunchy sex scenes if that’s your thing though.
I had a hard time rating this book. The first thing I’ll say is that the editing left a hell of a lot to be desired! So many misspelled words, grammar and punctuation mistakes. Now I understand while writing, you have to get the story out but when edited those things should be corrected and honestly it’s a disservice to Miss. Woods writing. This brings me to the story- I really enjoyed that (I lost some of the enjoyment because of my previous statement). I enjoyed the whole premise of best friends to lovers and the royal angle. The characters of Lars and Pippa were nicely developed and the conflict escalation had me guessing (I quite enjoyed I had no idea who the “bad guy” was for a while, I usually suss that out pretty easily - bravo!). The only negative about the storyline is the timeline- they met 15 years ago but it was mentioned several times it was 12/13 years ago.
Pippa’s got a secret, she’s not really Pippa and it’s not just that she would fall for her best friend, and he doesn’t know it. Lars and Pippa have rules, no hugging no touching they both no they are off limits to each other, she knows exactly what his like with women. One thing Lars knows with all the women no one makes him feel the way Pippa does. Lars wants Pippa to be his fake fiancé, which she will do anything for him, he’s her best friend. Lars loves how Pippa is the only one that see him as Lars and not the heir to the throne, and she’s the only one that can help him. Lars wants Pippa to be his fake fiancé, which she will do anything for him, he’s her best friend, but the lines start to blur. The thing is Lars is keeping the fakeness up when they are alone, although Pippa would love nothing more for it to be real, but she knows her secret could ruin everything.
Best friends since they were kids, Lars and Pippa come to an agreement and then start crossing lines of friendship drawn long ago. Neither knows the other has been in love since the beginning, but Pippa has a big secret she has never shared and now has someone blackmailing her with it. This story is a nice addition to the series. Lars reforming his playboy ways and hold on to Pippa while dealing with his family and career hopes is sweet. The way he shares his feelings about his place in the family is so sad. Pippa is a lost souls trying to hide that she is lost while Larsnknows exactly what he wants, he is just constantly held back by his station.
I was so happy to finally read book for in the series that focuses on Prince Lars and his best friend Pippa. The two met while in boarding school when they were 12-13 years old. Their friendship has grown stronger through the years. Each putting a lot of value on it to the point they have never crossed the line into dating or falling for one another. In this story Pippa will do anything for her best friend, even be Lars' fake fiancé. They try to keep their feelings for one another in the friend zone but soon discover it hard to deny the attraction they have. I loved the storyline. There was definitely a bit of mystery and suspense involved. Someone has discovered Pippa's secret and is threatening to reveal it to Lars and the country of Denmark. The chemistry between Pippa and Lars is so steamy and passionate. This is a very well written story with a wonderful HEA.
