It started with a summer job and a ridiculous sex dream.

If you were to ask my friends to describe me, they’d tell you I’m an ambitious person. Responsible, driven, and focused on my goals. Words like stubborn and uptight would probably get thrown in there too. I’m not sure about that, but I know who I’m not.

I’m not the woman who lets a guy derail me from my plans. Watching others make that mistake has taught me well. No serious dating. No relationship until I’m successfully settled into my career. That’s the promise I made to myself and I’m determined to keep it.

Despite being an excellent student, there’s one lesson I fear I’ve learned too late. Funny men aren’t as harmless as they seem and should be avoided at all times. They sneak in under your radar and end up under your skirt. One second you’re laughing. The next you’re hunting for your underwear on a hotel room floor. Believe me, it’s not worth it.

If only my heart would stop screaming louder than my brain, I might be able to believe that Owen falls into that category. He’s my friend, but every day we spend together in this hotel, or working on our summer job building houses for charity, the harder it gets to convince myself we shouldn’t be more.

Years of diligence, and I’m being destroyed by a goofy smile.

Can be read as a standalone novel.

Genre New Adult | Romantic Comedy

Overachiever is one heck of a funny book! I laughed quite a bit and even got a few funny looks from my family because of the howls coming out of me. If you need something light, something that will make you hoot with laughter, and something that is just as sexy then you won’t want to miss Overachiever by S.M. Shade. She’s known for her hilarious romcoms, but this may just be one of her funniest (besides Worth It because you can’t top that one) to date.

Overachiever is the second book in the Slumming it series. If you haven’t read the first one don’t worry because these books CAN be read as complete/interconnected standalones. They are also a spinoff of the Violent Circle series which I highly recommend because they too are absolutely HILARIOUS (especially book 1, Scarlet Toys).

With that being said, I enjoyed this book immensely. Owen is one of my favorite male heroes because he is so quick witted and funny, but he also has an enormous heart that will make you swoon. I love how he loved! Remee and him are a bit of opposites, as she’s definitely more studious and concerned with her grades and making sure there are no distractions so she can reach her goals. He on the other hand isn’t as hard on himself and allows himself to live and enjoy life. I think S.M. Shade did a wonderful job at bringing these two friends together as she made sure their differences complimented each other. I love seeing this in a book! There’s a teeny bit of drama at the end (I wanted to whack Remee for not allowing herself to be happy) but not enough to give you heart palpitations or the feeling of angst. This is more of a sweet, lighthearted, FUNNY, and enjoyable read.

S.M. Shade is a must read for romantic comedy readers. I feel like everyone should read at least one of her novels because once you do, you’ll be hooked! The three that I recommend as my favorites include this one, Scarlet Toys, and Worth it which she co-wrote with C.M. Owens.

Overachiever is entirely adorable- what a fun little new adult, friends-to-lovers rom com romp! This is my first SM Shade book- though many of her stories have graced my TBR- and I’m so glad I’ve finally jumped in. This is a light story- mostly lower drama, very humorous, and super cute.

I had not read the first book in the series (though I am now), so while the friends span the books, you don’t need to have read the prior one to dive in. Our story follows two friends, Owen and Remee, as they find themselves working together as interns building houses for the summer to earn a grant to pay for their college tuition. They’re part of the same friend circle, but isolated and away from their friend pack, these two cuties find themselves connecting in new and exciting ways...wink wink.

Remee is our “overachiever”- she’s driven, focused on her goals, and highly ambitious. She’s all kinds of Type A- which is the ultimate barrier to her budding connection with Owen, because she’s unwilling to consider any distractions. Owen, on the other hand, is super laid back. While incredibly intelligent, he doesn’t have a long term plan like Remee- he’s just enjoying the now. He’s also SUCH a cutie- he’s a adorably goofy at times, witty, and such a sweetie. His chemistry with Remee is really sweet- these two have fun banter, have some sweet emotional moments, and fall together so naturally.

I appreciated the diversity of the types of humor here- we have everything to some slapstick physical humor to witty banter. SM does something quite clever- she makes talking about sex and having sex FUNNY. Which only endears her characters to us more- and makes their story feel so relatable. And, despite one minor blip, the story is pretty decidedly low drama and low angst- it’s as chill as Owen. I will say I didn’t quite buy their friendship at first-they felt more like acquaintances, but once they were isolated, the friendship more authentic to me, and I certainly bought in then. Their relationship is also told in two parts- and I actually appreciate we get a good chunk of story after they are together, and though I didn’t find that as humorous as as engaging as the their getting together stage, it was a treat to see the before and after aspects of their romance (something we often only see in an epilogue). And, the later portions of the story really help deepen our understanding of these characters.

All in all, I’m glad to have discovered this author. I loved getting to escape for a bit in something so sweet and fun with such a poignant and meaningful message- the reminder that there is always room for love in any plan, you just have to let it in.

Y’all, I cannot. If I was a different kind of person, I’d swear this author has it out for me. Book one made me snort sweet tea. So I tried a new tactic. I didn’t consume a thing, just laid in bed with my husband and read quietly to myself. Except. I kept giggling, and my husband couldn’t sleep, and I ended up berated like a kid up past bedtime.
Owen and Remee are such an odd couple, but that’s what made it work. She is all about by the book, meeting goals and then once she’s done that, she’ll have time for everything else. Owen is way more laidback. He’s already figured out that things don’t have to be so serious. Between the two of them, they’re trying to find a balance, and maybe encounter a few shenanigans along the way.
Hilarity ensues during this summer workplace romance, and I never stood a chance. I’m gonna figure out how to read this authors books at some point, but the methods I’ve tried so far have only landed me in hot water.

I was so excited to finally get my hands on this book. It did not disappoint. I laughed so hard and loved every single page. I was giggling so much my husband thought I had some good gossip to share, but it was just the funniest book. Owen and Remee are so good together. Everything that happened was just hilarious I loved watching their story unfold. It's so much more than a rom com and I loved it. I definitely recommend!!

✨ On January 14th I tweeted "Does anyone knows a book about friends- to friends with benefits- to lovers?". On January 25th, I finally read this ARC copy. I feel so happy now. 🥺

Remee has a plan, and have a relationship is not part of that plan. But she took a job offer and travels with her friend to another city and everything gets a little complicated.

Owen is the clown in the group but he has a big heart and is one of the most cutest male characters I've ever read. He never pushes Remee, he's just waiting for her to be comfortable and as a person that sometimes might or might not want to control everything, I really appreciate that.

Not only this is an amazing romantic story but it's so funny as well, I swear I almost lost it a few times. 😂😂

I truly believe this is a book for anyone but if you're as romantic as me and are looking for a great story to read, this one is for you. 🥰

Overachiever is a romcom and friends to lovers story - it's a spin-off from the Violet Circle Series, each one can be read as a standalone. I haven’t laughed so hard reading a book in a while... Overachiever was hilarious.

Remee is driven, her goals are set and nothing will stop her from achieving them. Remee lives with two other friends that are carefree and want Remee to join in. Next, we have a group of guy friends that are downright immature at times but really good guys! Owen, Graham, and Marty are full of fun and some of their pranks will have you full-out belly laughing.

Owen is quirky, he's witty and wears his heart on his sleeve. He a bit hard on himself at times but I absolutely adored him. Owen was the perfect guy for Remee. They are great friends who turned into so much more. They had some obstacles in their relationship but once they figured it out they were each other yin and yang!

Overachiever is funny, adorable, and sweet. They are a crazy group of friends who are enjoying life.

Overachiever is the second book in the Slumming It series and S.M. Shade did it again. This was the romantic comedy that I really needed and it had me laughing out loud in the train. It was definitely worth the weird looks during my commute!

This book has all the elements I need in a romantic comedy: amazing characters, humor, romance, some steamy moments and definitely some awkward moments that make you laugh. The two main characters are clearly meant to be, but definitely have some bumps along the way. Remee has a plan and until she's reached her goals there's no room for a boyfriend. Owen is such a sweetheart. He's funny, caring and can definitely be a goof. The sparks fly between these two with their friends with benefits arrangement, but we all know that will only go good for so long.

If you're looking for a book to make you laugh out loud, swoon and not too much angst I can definitely recommend Overachiever!

Warning! Read at your own peril! Warning!

No seriously, don't read it laying in bed at night with your spouse/significant other sleeping soundly beside you, because your gonna be laughing, or at least trying to hold the laughs in, which lead to uncontrollable giggles and even some snorting. Or maybe that was just me?

Owen has had a secret crush on Remee for years but since she had friend zoned him, he just stayed in his lane. Until he didnt have to any more. Remee has a life plan and nothing was going to interfere with said plan. Until he does. What started off as friends with benefits/summer fling becomes so much more and then we finally get to see why Remee is so set on completing her life plan. With family like hers, who needs enemies?? I'm so glad that she allowed fun loving Owen to show her what real family is like and realizes that not only can she have family like that, she already does with Owen, her long lost sister and all of her friends.

Take my advice
#1 Read this in the middle of the day so you don't wake anyone up.
#2 Don't eat or drink while reading, you will end up with whatever is in your mouth all over the place.
#3 Have tissues handy, you will need them for the laughter tears and the very few sad tears.
#4 Wear a diaper, you will pee a little from laughing.
This is the second installment of the Slumming It series a spin off of the Violent Circle series. Friends Remee and Owen go to Florida on a work study grant program for a program similar to Habitat For Humanity. The hilarity that follows is pure amazingness. It's got humor, family drama, sexy times and the best group of friends ever.

4 sweet stars. This is my first book by this author. It was a sweet, romantic comedy. I had some laugh out loud moments, because it was heck of a funny book. All the secondary characters were very likeable too. I did not read the first book in this- Slumming series, but I will go back and read them too. Now about the story line...

Hero-Owen was a wondeful male hero and I loved his personality. (sweet, funny, extroverted, wicked smart.)

Heroine-Remee-was quite an "overachiever' Some would call her 'Type A" personality.

The 2 characters are very good friends and they hung out with the same circle of friends at college. Both take a summer job building houses for charity in Miami. And then, the story takes off to funny situations. I'LL STOP THERE.

Read it!!!

Shade is definitely my go to author for romcoms. The things her twisted comical mind comes up with speak directly to my sense of humor. Even before reading the first page I know better to try and read this in bed with the husband sleeping, he’s already banned me from when I read the Violent Circle series.

Listen I could go on and on about the great writing, character development and story but I’m not. I’m just going to scream at you to READ IT!!! Now more than ever we especially need the laughs and Shade brings her A game here.

Aren’t you curious to know what a rainbow fish is??

Remee and Owen are friends that live life somewhat differently. Remee has goals. She knows what she wants, she knows what she has to do to get there, and she doesn't allow anything to get in her way. Owen is bubbly, funny, and is still undecided with what he wants to do with his life.

They are set to spend the summer together away from the rest of their friends where they start a summer fling that is packed full of hilarious moments.

It's only when everything that Remee has ever focused on is in jeopardy do things go south.

There were so many laugh out loud moments. Billie Eilish's Bad Guy will NEVER be the same!

The humor, the embarrassing moments, all the things that made me smile or laugh were where I enjoyed this story the most. When it wasn't funny though, I didn't feel as connected to the story. The drama portion didn't hold me captive like I wanted.

SM Shade simply excels in romantic comedy. Another book set on Violent Circle, this one follows the serious and driven Remee. Forced to take a break from her studies, Remee participates in a project building houses to help earn a grant to cover her tuition. I adored Remee in the previous book as she is so serious compared to her roommates and their friends. Finding herself in over her head and overwhelmed beyond belief, she leans on Owen one of her goofy friends.
I loved the fact that despite the fact both characters have walls, they were able to be open and vulnerable. S.M. Shade is an amazing writer and brings all of the emotions in this book. I laughed so much my husband thought I was choking. I yelled, cheered, groaned and giggled my way through this book. S.M. Shade writes wonderful stories that take you out of reality, if only for a little while. Great book. Fun Series.

My Review:
After reading a really good first book, I’m leery of the books to follow. I sometime feel the authors don’t catch the same magic in the following books. That is not the case here…Shade did it again. There are scenes in this book that I reread because I wanted to laugh all over again. Shade builds such a mental image you can practically feel yourself in the book. I’m not sure if it’s because I can relate more to these 2 characters…but I loved this book.

Remee is the smart chick of the group, but not so uptight that she doesn’t know how to let loose. She’s the person with plans and goals and determine to keep them. Owen is just the person who always knows how to let loose. He’s also the comedian of the group and wants everyone to have a good time. He’s also secretly geeky it’s another reason why you fall in love with him. How can a bookworm and clown get along? They take a summer job together and things heat up. You will just have to read the book to find out. Trust me, this is one you’ll want to read!!!

Arthur Edit
It started with a summer job and a ridiculous sex dream.

⭐️ maybe not even deserving of one.

I’m actually pissed off. This book really pissed me off. And I get even more pissed when I think about the fact that I paid for it.

Okay, I’m trying to get over the fact I just read an entire scene where the girl badly pretends to enjoy anal while in reality she’s actually in pain.....and the guy realizes she’s not enjoying it at all, but as she encourages him to “come sooner rather than later”, he finds it funny and decides to finish...... I’m not sure who I hate the most! Her or him. Like what the fuck. This really, really rubbed me the wrong way, if you can’t tell. I can’t even continue talking about it.

So if I, for one second, pretend that I didn’t read that particular scene, I’m gonna try to give a more decent review. Breathe in, breathe out.

I liked how they started out. I liked how he seemed so sure about them as a couple even when they were just friends. I liked the story about them building houses and being away from their friends. And I liked how much he liked her.

However, I didn’t particularly like (trying to be respectful here as I didn’t succeed with that at the beginning) their pushy, rowdy and annoying friends. And them treating the guy as non important from the start. And her not really acknowledging how good he treated her when she was nervous about the job. And how he was gladly acting as a clown with the other guys at the building site. And how she was made incapable of being anything handy. Or him being a little too soft, too funny and too youngish. Or all the side stories with a sister, a bunch of friends and family. And not the awkward “let’s explore everything weird and funny” sex. And the fact that he was the one to go after her, when she was the one who left. Also, she was so set in her plans for the future that she broke things off with him, but not enough to finish the opportunity to secure her future.

All in all. She didn’t deserve him and was in no way ready for a relationship. He was a great guy in every way, but too boring and sweet to be the main character in my opinion.

I would consider reading something else by this author, because the writing was okay, but then I remember the “pissed off” part and I just can’t.

Plot:
Girl and boy (because it wouldn’t be right calling them man and woman) are in the same group of friends. They both leave for the summer for a grant building houses. He secretly loves her. They start a relationship. Filled with lots and lots of sex who is not meant to be awkward for the reader, but definitely is. She freaks out. He goes after her. They end up together.

My previous books from this author were angsty rockstar reads. Imagine my surprise when I start to read this book and find it a light-hearted and silly romcom with two adorable characters. It’s like a romp during one college summer, when the two characters take a summer job in Florida, assisting in the construction of homes for low income families.

Remee is on a direct path to success, studying hard to graduate university, get a well-paying job, then marry and have kids. In that order, no deviations, no boyfriends allowed. She usually takes summer classes but this time took the construction job so it will look good in her resume. Owen, from her group of college friends, is also going, for the grant money to pay for his tuition. Owen has always liked Remee and sees this as a chance to advance on his quest.

The plot continues smoothly, showing not only their love story (that starts as a summer fling) but also their development as adults. Remee is very strict and committed to her ambition, raised by her mother to not allow any deviation to the rule. Both her parents don’t accept mistakes or they’re discarded, like her twin sister. When her sister Rachel got pregnant at eighteen, her mother threw her out of the house and their father took away her college fund. Remee hasn’t seen her since, and she was expected to toe the line or get the same treatment. I was aghast at the attitude of her parents, and it explained why she had this one-track mind about studies and success.

I loved how Owen balanced Remee’s seriousness. Owen is hyperactive and impulsive and always rolls with the punches. No wonder he was so attractive to Remee! When Owen was up in his antics, Remee forgot to be uptight and had a ton of fun. There are so many hysterically funny scenes in the book that had me laughing out loud. Owen knows how to behave like an adult, but he was also good at letting go and behave like a child. I loved that he made Remee re-evaluate her values and the way she lived. To see her parents as the intolerant tyrants they were. And to be able to forge a path that gave her much more happiness and the joy of having her sister and nephew in her life.

In spite of the silliness in the story, there were many home truths and life lessons. Like, enjoy your life, march to the rhythm of your own drums, be empathic to others and above all, be generous and tolerant. Great feel good story!

5 lmao stars!! This author is the freaking Queen of rom-coms!!

This is book two in the “Slumming It” series and can be read as a stand alone. BUT I recommend reading ALL the “Violent Circle” and “Slumming It” books!! Sexy, funny, charming and so damn good.

*Reader-made teaser. I acknowledge the copyrights of the photographers who own these images.

I am not shitting you these books are so realistic and hilarious!! I can see this happening and being part of this crew (when I was younger, of course). I am obsessed with her characters. I love them all. Owen is amazing and I love that he wears his heart on his sleeve. I love that he is smart yet corny as hell. I love that Owen and Remee are so comfortable together.

This book is just so damn good! My husband had to keep asking if I was ok while reading, because I was snorting I was laughing so hard. And it’s not just one part there are soooo many good parts. I don’t think I laughed this hard since “Worth It” and that is my favorite book of ALL time!!

The book flows beautifully, the writing is impeccable, the characters are outstanding and the plot is perfect. Now you know you are going to laugh your ass off with this book but you will go through all the other emotions as well. Let’s not forget you will also have to cool down because the sexy times are just as good!!

Wonderfully Emotional With Hilarity & Giggles!😂😍🔥😢💔😂💘
Friends With Benefits Goes So Perfectly Right It'sWrong.😕🙈🔥
Overachiever (Slumming It #2)

Remee is the studious, over achieving & overly analytical roommate in the 'slumming it' house. She struggles to stray from her plan so finds it hard to relax or let her hair down, when she does it's with her group friends but especially her roommates. Owen, Graham & Marty are the other group of friends to her roommates Zara, Serena & Kelly.😍

After to trying to book herself another summer of extra classes Remee is shocked to be turned down & told she needs voluntary work on her resume. The college sets it's all up for her and she's dreading it!😳 Finding out Owen is on the same charity assignment, to build low income housing in Florida, eases her anxiety a bit. They agree to drive in his truck & share expenses.

Their friendship grows as they live & work together. Some hilarious, embarrassing & cringe-worthy things occur!😂🙈 Then one drunken night they kiss!!💥

I loved how many emotions the author packed into this storyline. It could be simply a funny romance but it's so much more! It's delves into Remee's upbringing & the damage it's left her with & what it has cost her over the years.💔😢 Can I just say I thought Colby & his Mum were fantastic and I desperately want them to have their own spin-off!🙏🍀 As goofy & chilled as Owen often was, I think he was ultra mature in how he handled most things. I adored this couple, how trusting, open & experimental they were and that they could laugh mid 😉🔥 is a truth rarely written about.😍 So if you're looking to lose yourself in a wonderfully hilarious but well written & insightful rom-com, then I highly recommend this one!🌟

Overachiever, Book #2, in The Slumming It Series, is my first read by S.M. Shade. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but I am so looking forward to getting to know this author better. This book is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND HYSTERICAL. For real, I laughed through 80% of this book. My PSA- do not read anywhere you are not allowed to laugh, tears in your eyes, laugh. For. Real.

Things I love when reading:
Series- I LOVE to get more glimpses of the couples I’ve read about.
Friends To Lovers Troupe- nothing sweeter
A KickAss Tribe of friends- I want to know them and be one of them.

Renee and Owen are neighbors and have known each other for awhile. They realize they will be spending the summer working for Building Hope in Florida. When Owen’s roommate ends up being a disaster, he ends up bunking with Remee. When Owen ends up saving Remee from making a huge mistake, she proposes a friends with benefits summer fling. And, let the fun and shenanigans begin.

Owen is always happy and fun to be around. Positive and can just roll with things. Remee is goal oriented. Is not the best about trying new things or being out of her comfort zone. So, they are complete opposites. And, perfect for one another.

Owen and Remee’s friendship is amazing and they transition into lovers very easily. They are comfortable with each other and have mad respect for each other. Owen is seriously one of the best book boyfriends I’ve read!

I loved everything about this book. Friends to Lovers Troupe 😍 The hot AF chemistry and sexy times 🔥🔥 This tribe of friends 💯 and my totally fangirling for S.M. Shade 💖

Oh Fuck...

The Violent Circle gang is back.

I repeat the Violent Circle gang is back!!!!

And oh fuck they have left the circle and have been let loose on to the world.

I swear I knew that this book was going to be funny, because S.M. Shade knows how to write a ROMCOM . But, let me just say I was not prepared for the level of humor that Shade was going to lay down on us readers with Overachiever. The Violent Circle Series is one of my favorite ROMCOM series, and so far with the first two books in the spin-off series, Slummin' It , has surpassed it's predecessor.

Owen. OMFG, Owen had me laughing so hard sometimes I thought that I was going to cry. Its because of the first book in this series, Unsupervised, why I can't see a Capri Sun without laughing. And now because of Owen I will never be able to listen to "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish or the "Hokey Pokey" without laughing now. Damn you Shade.

Remee, poor sweet innocent Remee. I love all of Shade's female characters they aren't shy. They dish out the crazy right along side the boys. And well Remee sure knew how to dish out the crazy with Owen.

Another out the park homerun for Shade, but I didn't expect anything less from her. If there was a way to give this book more than 5 stars I would. I mean how many authors do you know can have their characters:
1. come up with an anal sex song
2. use a dirty dildo found on a construction site in a prank
3. have a guy show his scrotum while peeing at a truck stop.

This series had it all and them some. And I can not wait for the next book in this series. So Shade get your ass back into the cave and get to writing.

This is the ultimate laugh out loud romcom.

Remee is focused on her goals but with a little change in her summer plans she has an opportunity to keep on track for those goals while also allowing her the opportunity to let her hair down and have some much needed fun. Remee is stubborn and determination personified but once she sets foot in Florida she lets out more of herself and it’s refreshing to see her laugh, show some sass, and her the lighter side of her personality.

Owen is everything, if you made a list of everything you wanted in a book boyfriend and honestly a real life one, Owen’s face would appear in a mirage right in front of you. He’s funny, sweet, swoon worthy, and alpha when the time is right *wink*. He’s the type of person that will make you laugh when all you want to do is cry.

On paper it doesn’t seem like Remee and Owen fit but their chemistry is palpable and they complete one another. Remee is obsessively focused on the plans she has for her life and Owen breathes laughter and fun into her perfectly orchestrated world. Owen is a flurry of goofy, and takes everything life hands him with a smile and a joke, Remee calms the whirlwind that is Owen.

S.M. Shade has created a series that is one of a kind and unmatchable in the romcom category. Overachiever is without question the funniest book I have ever read. An extraordinary blend of chemistry, a stubborn sassy heroine, a goofy, swoon worthy alpha, an abundance of laugh out loud moments, more snort laughing moments than I’ve ever had, witty banter, a touch of feels, and steam.

I absolutely loved reading Overachiever. It is the book that I didn’t know I needed to read. Light, fun and with a cast of characters that are perfect for the storyline and who I couldn’t help but come to adore.

I didn’t want this book to end and since I have yet to read Unsupervised, which is the first book in this series, I don’t care what my reading schedule is like - I must read it next! I absolutely adored this group of college friends and I am not ready to move on from witnessing their escapades and friendships that had me smiling and laughing out loud throughout this book.

Owen is an incredible character. He has the most brilliant sense of humour and I couldn’t get enough of him. He and Remee are perfect together - their personalities complement each other and they have the most amazing sexual chemistry that created some fantastic scenes in the story. I enjoy being the joker in a pack and I think Owen and I would get along very well indeed!

Overachiever is the second book in the Slumming It series but can defintely be read and enjoyed as a standalone, and I actually love that I can go back and read Unsupervised next. I’m anticipating that I will be reading the Violent Circle series soon too. This is the first RomCom I have read written by S.M. Shade and I have a feeling she has just got herself a new fan!

I highly recommend this book to you. I can’t imagine you not enjoying it as much as I have.

I AM SO IN LOVE WITH OWEN!!!! OMG he is so freaking swoony! He has been in love with Remee for a while, but they have been friends... all hanging out in with the same group of friends. And then he gets his shot! They both end up volunteering with the same construction project, away from their friends! Owen is the nice guy-goofball character. Remee is the super sweet friend that is laser focused. As they are away they start up a friends with benefits thing, but you already know that Owen is hoping it will turn into more. There were so many times that I laughed so hard during this book! I didn't not want to put it down because I wanted to know what was going to happen with them.... when would they get together, what kind of shenanigans would they get into, how would Owen convince Remee how great they could be as "more"..... I had to know! And then I was so bummed when it was all over! These 2 were just so much fun to watch..... usually the couples in the Violent Circle crew (the OG's and the spinoffs) are fun and crazy, but these 2 are my top couple when it comes to sweetness and comedy!
I very much look forward to the next book in the series and I can not wait to see who the next couple will be!

Remee and Owen is a friends to lovers story. Both takes a job for the summer working in Florida to help build houses for charity. While in Florida they turn from friends to lovers due to the living conditions. Then Renee falls in love with Owen not realize that Owen has love her for awhile for now. So she runs away back home when theirs friends leaves for the end back home. Even though love was never in her plan. She always been a overachiever and now is confused. So she heads home to visit her mother so she can figure things out but Owen shows up and he tells her that he in love with her. And now she knows what needs to do. They don’t know what the future holds but together they can handle.

While at home Remee reconnect with her twin sister and nephew. You get to know Remee and Owen friends through out the books. I love them. They have me laugh so much.

Overachiever is great book. It all the passion steamy drama and love. S. M. Shade gives us a some fantastic characters. She carry’s us on the ups and the downs of theirs relationship. The ending of Overachiever is great. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

This was an entertaining read – it was funny (laugh out loud in places) and steamy. Remee and Owen are complete opposites, yet they bring out the best in each other. This is a friends to lovers romance. Owen has been attracted to Remee for awhile, but she has her life planned out and relationships are not part of that plan. Working together in Florida for the summer, they give into their attraction and decide to have a friends with benefits summer fling!. They have great chemistry; they heat up the pages. Remee is serious and focused and Owen is intelligent with a really goofy side. He has the ability to get Remee to enjoy life. It doesn’t take long for their feelings to get involved and they each have different ways of handling those emotions.
Along with Remee and Owen, there are many secondary characters that add levity to the story, friends of theirs from college and friends they meet in Florida. These secondary characters definitely enhance the book.
If you are looking for a book that is a quick, entertaining, witty read this may be the book for you. Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This author is my go to when I need a laugh out loud romance book to read and awkward scenes! This one had me snort laughing so hard!! I swear most of the best parts to laugh came when my husband was asleep next to me and I couldn't laugh out loud! Ugh.. I swear the moments that Owen and Remee get themselves into in this book can only be described as hilarious and scarring to their friends! Their group of friends are amazing and have some wild times together! While I loved Owen and Remee, I gotta say I laughed the loudest with Marty with the rainbow fish story!!That poor guy had his world knocked upside down lol. This whole book was super fun with laughs and even hint on some serious parts as well. The disappointment of Remee's parents towards her and what went down, made me realize how awful some parents can be. I was happy that she was able to make peace with her sister though. This book is so worthy of the 5 stars and even more!! I love stories like this especially when they start out as friends and bond so tightly as these two did! Job well done!!!
