Saving the Villain from the Heroine (Paperback) #1-5

여주에게 버려진 악당을 구하는 방법 [Yeojuege Beoryeojin Agdang-eul Guhaneun Bangbeob]

Rate this book

First time reading (S01:) ★★★★☆
After re-reading (both seasons) :★★★☆☆

S01:Ch. 01-97
S02:Ch. 98-130

Extra information: It's adapted from a novel called; "Methods to Save the Villain Who was Abandoned by the Heroine"/ "여주에게 버려진 악당을 구하는 방법" (378 Chapters)

I remember really liking the first season it the first time I've read it 4 years ago but now after re-reading both seasons, I can say there are MUCH BETTER stories than this. This one is just your basic "I turned into a kid" story. I wouldn't call the terrible, but its not a masterpiece. Anyone who wants to read this must know logic doesn't really play a big part in this manhwa. The family fluff and hot assassin daddy probably will be the only things that'll keeping you reading.

Quick Notes:

🎤The Lack Of Logic and Problems with the Plot: When a story introduces major plot elements like a character reverting to childhood due to an unexptected element like a potion or magic, it really needs to establish internal consistency. If the world and characters don’t react in a believable way—even within the bounds of the story's own logic—it would pull readers out of the experience. Just like in this story.

From the very first chapter (not a big spoiler) the protagonist who used to be an adult turns into a child suddenly yet everyone still treat her like she’s always been an actual child. Neither her mind going back to childish ways nor people around her reacting to that is handled well and this lack of logic, even though fills the story with cute moments, really harms the overall story.

Another problem with the plot is the saintess/original female lead trying to kill the original ML is literally never brought up again. Like, why, how? Ugh. It's like the author completely forgot the reason she was shrunk, and focused on what a cute child she made. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ One moment you think there is an actual plot in this story, the next suddenly it disappears and the manwha just a becomes a slice of life story about a girl being lovey dovey with her fiancé while her sparkling assassin family dotes on her.

By the way, dont worry about the age gap between the main couple because what age gap?

I think this story would have worked out better if she was reincarnated as a child from the beginning since the beginning of this story is completely different from what the actual plot and the vast majority of the manhwa is a growing-up-in-a-weird-household-story. This is a classic case of genre bait-and-switch guys. It's just like messed up feelings you get when a movie is completely different from what the trailer actually sold you.

🎤Overall The Seasons:
S01: mostly interesting and cute
S02: it went downhill due to story getting more confusing as it went on. It was like the author is just throwing stuff out-of-nowhere to lengthen the story and it is not working well.

🎤Romance: Bland main couple. Nothing insteresting or exciting here.

🎤The Art: ... is ok. I enjoyed the first few chapters, then all the characters started to look like dolls without expression, and also very similar to each other.

To sum up; It's more about enjoying the ride as opposed to the story which is real lackluster. You'll definitely enjoy it more if you do not come into this story expecting a well thought out logical story and just enjoy the cute family relationships. But i reccomend you give this a try since it was quite enjoyable and you might like it.

Season One: Ch 1 - 43
An office worker reincarnates into a novel she read. Sielle runs away from her abusive father only to get hit by a carriage. She is taken in by the young Duke Ferzei and given work as a maid. She enjoys the job and its benefits until a dinner where she knows Ferzei will be assassinated by his fiancé. Trying to spare her own life she intervenes and is forced to drink the poison to prove her innocence. A side effect of the drug reverts her into the body of a six-year-old. Sielle expects a monetary reward but things get complicated as she is sold to the Vicienna family--a villainous meritocracy of assassins and monsters who happen to be her best hope of breaking the curse. Ferzei also establishes a contract engagement with her to block the imperial family. Can she find a way to survive her new family?
Season Two: Ch 44 -
Ferzei takes some potions to revert his physical age so that he can maintain his relationship with Sielle. The enemies of Vicienna continue their plots and now that the young lady has grown attached to her adoptive family she decides to try and protect them.

This one is kind of weird. I like parts of it. The advanced knowledge of our transmigrator landing her in trouble is a fun take. The beasts (including tsunderes) around her getting tamed is pretty standard. However, the story telling is choppy and I figure our protagonist will be polarizing to audiences. Her naïve and strange reactions to are allegedly part of the curse but mostly just function as nonsense to drive the plot forward. While the characters might have reasons for their behaviors, we are not shown enough of their backstory and personality to understand them. I'll keep it at three stars for the laughs but it lacks mass audience appeal. The non sequitur nature gets worse as the chapters go on. A character will ask about a parent and the response is some exposition about dragons. A simple task like visiting a maid will take fifteen chapters while killing an invading army takes like three panels. It's uneven and often weird, but it uses cliffhangers and mystery boxes to keep one invested.

After seeing that this manhwa is already completed, I've decided to re-read it again but I was heavily disappointed with the art and the storyline. It seems that there's nothing to expect from this manhwa so I decided to drop it.

I really like this series. There are some points in the story where things aren't fully explained, but I love the relationships the characters have with each other.

DNF @ chapter 25

Plot feels all over the place and the premise is pretty similar to the “Monster Duke’s adopted daughter”, which I also DNFed.
