One girl, five monsters, one hell of a ride. Aisha was reduced to nothing but a blood serf in the Citadel, until wolf shifters offered her a chance to escape.
Though she tries to resist her new captors, the muscular, tattooed shifters soon break her down.
But everything comes at a price.
With a vampire and a gargoyle on her trail, and wolves holding her hostage, Aisha learns who—or what—she really is.
And the wolves aren’t about to let their new mate go…
I'm a UK based author who loves to read and write all things romance. As Skye Jones I write steamy paranormal romance that ranges from light and fun to dark and gritty.
As S.R. Jones I write darker contemporary romance and romantic suspense.
I live in Yorkshire, and get lots of inspiration from the windswept moors, the old stone buildings and the Celtic myths of this fair isle.
My dogs are my favourite people, and I'm quite fond of my husband too. I love chocolate and starbucks mochas and keep meaning to give them up for a life as a svelte fashion plate - it never happens!
While the storyline gets marginally better here I still feel a bit impartial about the book. Dashiell is still a crude ass and I didn’t warm to him much. Ironic too that Aisha escapes him only to end up with a wolf shifter who’s just as rude, bossy and demanding. Thanks goodness she has Ezra and Jackson for buffers. Gideon still feels like an outside character given that he mostly remained on the roof in book one. I’m not sure how I feel about him being used as a way of punishment to all Dashiells women. Guess there’s just parts of the books that don’t mesh for me given the context of it all. Things seems to be getting better now that a new threat has arisen and Aisha learns she’s more than just an average human. Going to read on as these are super quick, I’m actually curious how the relationship between the six of them will work considering they’re centuries old enemies.
I absolutely love this hot, steamy, captivating book with exceptional characters in an erotic world that is so realistic it felt like I was on the journey with them. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author that knows how to captivate the attention of their readers
Aisha is now at the mercy of a different kind of men and for how strong she is this is not something she finds to her liking at all. Every man that she comes in contact with wants something from her and she can't tell whom she should trust. But now isn't the time to second guess yourself when you have vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural beings coming after you.
So we are reading the second book and I am just as intrigued as the first book. I couldn't put Cruel Moon down any more than the first one. I am enjoying this series very much.
Cruel moon is an exhilarating read. Aisha and Ezra are ensconced in the packs home. Sperated and kept apart because Aisha is the alpha and the beta's mate. Logan, alpha, is hothead, demanding and arrogant. Jaxon, beta, is charming, reasonable but obeys alpha rule. Dashiell and Gideon team up to retrieve them from the wolves but things are not going as plan. Evil is brewing. A heritage revealed. Secrets told but still so many unanswered questions. Action, suspense driven plot filled with seductive pull. Tropes Con non con. Gargoyle. Werewolves. Mating. Knotting. MM. MFM scene. Magic. Witches. Quotes “Isn’t this also a cage? There are walls here, just the same as at the Pit, or the Citadel. At the Pit, the walls were made of mountains, and at the Citadel they’re stone, and here they’re wood and foliage, but they’re all intended to do the same thing—keep us in.”
If in the first book we learned about the Pit (well, not much but something) and the Citadel, in the second book we get to see how the Wolves (or shifters) are living. and we also get a glimpse into witches, so that was definitely a bonus.
But I think this review will be just a huge rant! So let's get into it.
First of all, Logan (the alpha), let's somehow get rid of him, Dashiell next to him seems so much less controlling, at least he was okay with sharing Aisha. This dude, is just bad, he should have been a character in a "normal" relationship, and not a poly one. I mean, his whole idea that Jaxson will not need to touch Aisha (even though she's his mate as well), just because he's a beta and Logan is an Alpha, is ridiculous. And that's where another ridiculous part of the story comes in. Alpha and Beta having the same mate, and well Jaxson didn't even "touch" Aisha even once, which for me was a disappointment.
The spice in this book was kind of lacking, the only time I enjoyed was the scene with Ezra on their first night in the camp. The mating part was just, not enticing at all. And Logan once again showed just how uncaring he is, and that he just wants Aisha for his own gain.
If you haven't noticed, I have a vendetta against the wolf, and honestly I'm petitioning to remove him from the harem! (doubt that will happen, but well).
One more thing, why was it such huge thing for Dashiell that Aisha's blood is special? There was a whole section in book 1, when he was saying that people with blood like her are special, or that it takes better, so again, the vampire who lived for thousands of years didn't put two and two together? I mean, I was not even astonished when at the end of book 1 he could withstand the sun, it was kind of expected.
All my rant aside I did devour the book in like a day or so, so it was entertaining, just this time characters were pissing me off (Logan especially). So, I can't wait to dig in into the third book and unravel more secrets that the world of Wicked Monsters holds!
The disappointing thing about this series so far is that the plot has potential, but the authors are failing by not giving us any character development. I feel nothing but animosity for almost all the characters. Aisha is so stupid that she can't seem to think about anything but sex. It's absolutely ridiculous how many people she's had sex with when she has just met them. And honestly, while the authors try to make it seem consensual, it's really not. She's was pretty much forced by Dashiel. She was also forced by Dashiel to have sex with Gideon. She was forced with Logan. Ezra was the only one who at least asked even though he didn't have a choice because Dashiel ordered it. The authors get around calling it rape because Aisha is attracted to them. But she also wasn't really given a choice. Every relationship was forced on her so quickly that you can't really claim that she had a choice. The choice was "consent or I'll do it anyway". Aisha is like a child. It fits her character I guess because of growing up in the pit. But to me it's cringe worthy to see the sex scenes. It's not romantic at all. There's absolutely no relationship. She's Dashiel's slave. He forces Ezra and Gideon on her. While Ezra and Gideon might have some redeeming qualities, they are still ordered to be with her because they're enslaved too. Once Logan gets her, he doesn't even try to woo her. He treats her like crap and then tells her she doesn't have a choice but to mate him. So the whole premise behind the "relationships" is force. She's weak. They're strong. Obey or else. It's really kind of disgusting. Obviously, something will probably change eventually. But right now it's just off putting because you want her to fight back, even if she can't win. Instead, she's like a withering flower and just cowers and complies. It makes me want to quit reading the series. However, I'm going to give it one more book because the plot has potential. Right now this series is blah and disappointing.

And this is a new for me. I'm about to read another paranormal book... Can you believe that? Well, it might not be my cup of tea but I've read the first book from this series and it spiked my curiosity. Skye Jones and Marissa Farrar have created this series and I was curious. Their writing is mystical and hot... Oh boy... So hot... Cruel Moon is their latest release and it's the second book from the Wicked Monsters series. But you must read Night Captive first because they are not standalone. As you know, Aisha was taken by a vampire to become his servant. This guy happened and now she was taken by a werewolf and... Hot and dark. Those are the words that can describe this book perfectly. It was a different reading, that's for sure and it left me wanting more. Great plot, well written, dark and mystical. It was different, that's for sure, but super addictive. I want the rest of it. I need to see how it ends. It was great and I'll be impatiently waiting for the next one. Great book girls. Will it take too long to get the next one?
This is very much a middle book. It doesn’t stand on it’s own, FYI. Much more porn without plot than book one. This is basically just a series of sex scenes and Aisha arguing that the wolves want to keep her just as imprisoned as the vampires, which is true. The word slave is still never used, but the wolves are basically just offering a little more illusion of freedom in her enslavement than the vampires did. But it’s also supposed to be luuuurve.
I did appreciate that Aisha was standing up for herself. She made some very good arguments, not that they made any difference. But I continually came up against the question of how and why Aisha is able to articulate herself so well. She grew up in a very limited environment. She’s far too educated and well spoken for the history the authors have given her and I felt it sharply in this book.
I’m also still not particularly enjoying the tone of the book…series really. Not on any deep reason, just in a not-good-for-me way. The whole thing just feels super ick and I’m struggling with it.
Has Aisha jumped from one prison into another, exchanging the Citadel for the wolf shifter’s settlement? Logan and Jaxon, the Alpha and Beta, have their own agenda concerning Aisha; they’re keeping her confined to the Glade for more than just her safety. While they expect that Dashiell will bring Gideon and the Nosferatu and attempt to retrieve her, he’s not the only formidable threat the wolf shifters are facing.
I’ll admit I wasn’t too surprised to discover just how much more than human Aisha really is. My suspicions about Ezra were confirmed too, but I hadn’t expected the twist that transpired. The story is a quick read with some drama, conflict, and mystery, along with explicit M/M sex and M/F shifter-style mating, which features knotting. I’m curious to see how this tale concludes in Enchanted Dusk.

In book one Aisha was living in the pit its all she has ever known she is then taken in by the head Vampire of the Citadel. While there she develops a friendship with another bloodserf and even though she develops feelings for the head vampire she can't trust him and his cruelty bothers her by the end of book one she has been freed by wolves who attacked the citadel now she and her friend are going into another situation with different players can she trust her new helpers when they clearly want something from her and her vampire is coming and he won't be alone. Book two reveals the reason the wolves took her there a mating and a attack but is this new place any safer what is she why do so many want her what about the pit what new danger is Alisha going to face. Ends in a cliffhanger.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout as well as purchasing a copy this is my honest review.
Title: Cruel Moon Author: Marissa Farrar, Skye Jones Format: Ebook Genre: Romance, RH w/MM, Paranormal (Vampires, werewolves, gargoyles, demons, witches) Standalone: Nope - Ends on a cliffhanger Part of a Series: Book 2 of Wicked Monsters POV: Aisha, Logan, Ezra, Jaxson, Gideon, Dashiel Steam Level: Hot 4/5
Cruel Moon starts right where Night's Captive ends. Aisha and Ezra are on the run with the wolves from Dashiel and the Citadel. While Aisha wasn't quite given the option to go, she didn't quite fight it either. She did, however, insist that Ezra come too. Now that Ezra and Aisha escaped Dashiel and Gideon we find out the secret that Ezra was keeping and what Aisha is. Tensions heat when Gideon spots trouble and Dashiel figures out the power of Aisha's blood. The clock is ticking, the tensions are mounting and I cannot wait to see what happens. If I wasn't reading this in the box set I would be upset at the cliffhanger.
I did like this one a little better then the last one. We are getting a clearer picture of this world. So a little more world build, and character development. We learned a few a the things happening behind the scenes that we didn't know last time that I found kind of intriguing. I also liked that Dashiell was starting to questions himself and realize just what an ass he was! I have to say I'm not that fond of Logan. He reminds me a lot of Dashiell. Lying because it is easier for him to get his way. Of the 5 guys so far. I find myself liking Ezra, Gideon, and Jaxson and lot better. They do care for Aisha and show it in many ways. They might be keeping secrets from her, but at least they aren't outright lying to her.
In this one I find myself hoping that Aisha manages to make it back to the pit to help her friends and find Ezra's sister. I hope she can get them to safety. Although I am not sure there is anywhere safe in her world at the moment.
Aisha is taken from the only home she has ever known, The Pit, to be a blood serf at the Citadel to the head vampire. While she's there she befriends another blood serf who is wanting to find our any info he can about where Aisha's from as he's been trying to find out what might have happened to his sister who was kidnapped when she was just an infant. Just as she's starting to accept what her life has become, she's offered a chance to escape with the help of 2 wolf shifters. She agrees as long as she can take the other blood serf. Once she gets to her new home she finds out that she's not as free as she thinks, and she's the mate to the 2 shifters. They all know the head vampire will be coming for her, and they will do everything they can to keep her safe from him.
Great characters and world building. I couldn't put it down.
There’s always been conflict between the shifter and vampire worlds, and more so now that Aisha has been taken from the Citadell by the shifters. But as we learn more about Aisha and her relationships to the males that are now in her life, a hidden evil is discovered that holds a potential threat against both worlds. Although everyone’s role in this fantastical drama is still unfolding, it’s clear that what’s to come will have a significant effect on all their lives. This continues to be a darkly intriguing tale that will keep you captivated from beginning to not quite the end. And even though we are left wondering what exactly is in store for all, we can bet that it’s going to be something worth the wait.
Non-stop action 4 ½ stars - This installment is a bit shorter than the first. It showed what happened after Aisha and Ezra escaped with the wolves, Logan and Jaxson, and arrived at the Glades. When night came, Dashiell sent Gideon and some nosferatus to test the defenses of the wolves’ sanctuary. Then everything got really interesting and steamy between the four. Gideon, after spying on the four, found something very dangerous on his way back to the Citadel. Will it change alliances? How does this affect the parallel universe? This book is full of excitement and the author shows great world-building. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
Aisha spent book #1 in this series under the influence of Dashiell the vampire. Book #2 has her “escaping” with Wolf-shifters. But to protect her they must change her and mate her. Is this out of the frying pan into the fire?
I recommend you read story #1 to understand why she is torn as to which way is “right”. I am thoroughly enjoying this series. Aisha most wants to help those left in the Pit where she grew up.
Complex story of choice, family, relationships, danger and magic. Highly entertaining. So ready for more!

A paranormal romance that has its dark moments. You must read in order to truly enjoy and understand everything. Aisha is now held by the wolves. What does this mean for her though. Has she gone from one cage to another and now another? It seems she has little control on her life. She will fight it and not give up if she has anything to say about it. Logan, the alpha of the wolves, is dominant and that might just make her fight harder. The scenes continue to be extremely hot. We also are given a few more answers but there are so many more. And a danger is finally showing its teeth and may change everything for everyone.
This was a enjoyable second instalment in this series, the storyline continues from the end of the previous book, and draw me in, intriguing me to keep reading to find out about what's special about Aisha. It's fairly light and easy to read without a great deal of angst or suspene. Again I found the writing style wasn't very seamless, I assume because it's written by two authors and they switched between first and third person perspective, which I found effects the flow of the reading for myself. It does end on a cliff hanger, and I'm looking forward to the next instalment.
Aisha (FMC) now has to contend with another set of Alpha males (Quite Literally!!) & wolves in book 2 in this series. Alpha-Logan & Beta-Jaxon help her as well as Ezra escape but their help comes with conditions. They will try everything they can to get their own way. Using plenty of steam to do so but things dont go exactly to plan. Dashiell and Gideon try their level best to get her back. Theres a new enemy on the horizon that could put them all in danger though. This series is getting better and better. Im loving reading it so much
Wow!! What an imagination this author has to have written this series of books!
I read this book as part of a box set of the four books and it was just superb, it was the second book in the series and I loved it from cover to cover.
I read the books back to back and I absolutely loved this one and it has me starting the third one straight away.
The storyline was sizzling, it was so well developed and the writing style was perfect and it was a great escape read
It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!
Book Review: Cruel Moon: A Dark Paranormal Reverse Harem Romance (Wicked Monsters Book 2) Author: Marissa Farrar, Skye Jones My Rating: 5 Stars Reviewer - Tammy Book Nook Nuts
REVIEW Book two and it's only gotten better. Aisha and Ezra find themselves out of the frying pan and into the fire literally with the wolves they escaped the citadel with. All of them want her, but no one knows what she is until... Ezra makes a decision and he may just be her savior after all. Can they get away before Logan and Jaxon find them? Or will Dashiell and Gideon get them back? Or will everyone go up in flames? Wow can't wait for the next one.

The story continues in this, the second book in the series. It was frightening yet mesmerizing to read about this cruel world that the author created. I did feel that the sex scenes dominated the story which was somewhat disappointing. There was a clue/hint that there is more complications to come. I liked the mystery surrounding her character.

A well-written Book 2 in the Wicked Monsters Series is a fast-paced, reverse harem story with loads of crazy drama, a lot of suspense, twists and turns. This story has well crafted characters that have good chemistry. These characters have been crafted with unique personalities and grow throughout the story. This is a must read from a great Author.

Cruel Moon is book two of the Wicked Monsters series and it picks up where book one left off. Aisha has been taken from the Citadel by wolf shifters and they realize that they needed to change her in order to protect her. This is an intense, dark read with fantastic characters, action, suspense, drama, steam and unexpected twists that held my attention. After that ending I can't wait to find out what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Cruel Moon: A Dark Paranormal Reverse Harem Romance by Marissa Farrar is an awesome story that I have had the privilege to read. This is book number two in awesome series that I am so hooked on and can not wait to read the rest. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about reverse harem, fantasy, dark and paranormal romance.

This short read continues the story of Aisha. She got away from the Citadel, but is she really better off? She's still not free, and the shifters say she's their mate. The mystery of who/what Aisha is becomes clearer, but is it enough to allow her to help the others in the Pit? This is a fascinating, dark, erotic story.
Warning - It does end in a cliffhanger, just so you know.

I loved the dif POV’s. I really liked how the fmc has developed into a stronger lead. The previous book, she accepted things so easily when her inner dialogue was a complete opposite. In this book? She seems to follow through more often. I also enjoyed finding out what she is from the wolves and how Dashiele is still in the dark. The knotting scene was pretty intense. There were surprises in almost every chapter. I look forward to reading book 3!
So I was so excited when it said book two of two. Thought yes I’ve waited enough to read the end of this series but nope get to the end and guess what? A third is coming out in December! I read about 20 books a month so gonna have to re read the first one again and then this one!! Grrrrr how many are gong to be in this series!!!!!
First let me state that I received an advanced reader copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review
Holy shiznet!!! This story is getting better and better. Aisha is away from the vampires and now with the wolves who claim she's the Alpha and beta's mate. I can't wait to read the next part. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
