Victoria wants a new start unhappy with her life in New York, she had been living in the lake house property for a week when she literally bumped into Hadley. He is unlike any man that she had ever met before, being used to the fake gym bodies that surrounded her in the big apple. So when Hadley takes her out for lunch and they share a moment she knows she is falling quickly for this man. But when he doesn’t turn up for their date the next day has she given her heart to the wrong man?
Hadley is sick of women who just look at him and see his bank balance and after watching his brother find his one true love has made him long for his own happily ever after. Needing a time out to think he goes up to the lake house property and runs into a woman he has never seen before. One touch and one kiss and his heart belongs to Victoria but when an emergency occurs at the family ranch and he misses their date will she forgive him or has he missed his chance at happiness?
I have to say that this book felt a little rushed even for a novella it was a little too insta but I still loved both of the main characters but would have liked a little more depth to them there was no real story or drama. 3* read.
HADLEY is the second book in The Grant Brothers series and is the story of Hadley Grant and Victoria. This is a very short and fast-paced, almost like running a sprint, story with several things happening at the same time and no depth to any of it. I thought the idea of this story was good but the execution was just to rushed, the characters were inconsistent, the dialogue was immature at times, there were things that were touched upon but never explained and there was a lack of proofreading. I have read several of Scarlett Hopes books and have found some I liked and others not so much. This was on the later side of things for me and I really did want to like it, as I love me a sexy older cowboy romance. This is only my opinion as I know other readers will love this story. But for me this did not work on a number of levels.
Hadley was tired of women just wanting to be with him for his money. He wanted to find what his brother had found and that was true love and happiness. Leaving one morning just taking a drive to clear his head Hadley drives to the spot where he normally goes to walk and just think and that’s when he runs into the prettiest woman he’s ever seen. He knew she wasn’t from their small town because he’d never seen her before and he knows he wants to have her all to himself. Victoria is Scarlett brings us a sweet short story with good characters that definitely have a connection. I am voluntarily leaving my review for the arc copy that I received.
When Hadley meets Victoria he knows straight away that it’s love at first sight. She is attracted to him to but good looking guys like him don’t pick curvy girls like her. In this case it’s done and dusted and a relationship begins to blossom. This is a sweet and entertaining book in the series. Very enjoyable.
