I am not sure whose work I previously read which led me to ‘Beyond Sectarianism: Re-Imagining Church & World’ (1999) by Philip D Kenneson but it definitely gave me thoughts on my response to Rod Dreher’s ‘Benedict Option’. Kenneson is the Kenneth E. Starkey Chair of Bible & Christian Ministries; Associate Dean of the School of Bible & Ministry; Professor of Theology & Philosophy at Milligan College at Elizabethton, TN. He has an MDiv from Emmanuel Christian Seminary (1986) & a PhD in theology & ethics from Duke University (1991). He is also author along with James Street, of ‘Selling Out the Church: The Dangers of Church Marketing’ (Abingdon Press, 1997); & ‘Life on the Vine: Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit in Christian Community’ (1999).
