His Majesty

Rate this book
What the king wants, he gets, and what the king wants right now is me. On my knees.

Maximo Giovanni Santaro is a king. A real king, like in the old days. The kind I didn't know still existed. The kind who commands obedience and punishes any hint of defiance from his subjects.

His Majesty doesn't take no for an answer, and refusing his royal command has earned me not just a spanking that will leave me sobbing, but a lesson so utterly shameful that it will serve as an example for anyone else who might dare to disobey him. I will beg and plead as one brutal, screaming climax after another ravages my quivering body, but there will be no mercy for me.

He's not going to stop until he's taught me that my rightful place is at his feet, blushing and sore.

Publisher's Note: His Majesty includes spankings, rough sexual scenes, intense and humiliating punishments, and strong D/s themes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

This wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, given the strong negative reaction I've had to this author's last few books. I was initially concerned that King Matteo would harm Isabella for killing his cousin when he tried to rape her, but the king understood the extenuating circumstances (so, thank you, Ms. Fields, for not "blaming the victim" as far too many of your fellow authors do). While this has the author's usual de rigueur extreme public humiliation and harsh punishment scene, Matteo didn't harm her; he didn't rape her; he didn't ; and he genuinely cared for her and wanted what was best for her. So, I would say that if you're looking for well-described erotic fantasy where you need to check all disbelief at the door, you may enjoy this.

I always read past reviews before I write my own and I'm struck by how many long-time fans of this author comment on how little story her current books contain -- implying that they've had more plot in the past. I can't comment since I haven't read the earlier ones; I do agree that Ms. Fields really writes straight-up literary porn: there's little character development or narrative complexity. That's not necessarily a criticism since that may be all you want; it's just that I prefer to read about more fully-fleshed out characters.

3 stars. I might have rated this more highly, but I was really bothered by the fact that Matteo made Isabella call him "Your Majesty," since that's a title his subjects use and, therefore, not something special between the two of them. While Ms. Fields might have wanted to offer an alternative to "Sir" or "Master" -- the usual appellations used in these generic books -- those titles are exclusive and of significance to the H and h (particularly "Master"). Since "Your Majesty" is not, I found that aspect alienating. It might seem like a small quibble, but Isabella uses it quite a lot.

ETA: It's one thing to enjoy these books as fantasy; it's another to, er, believe them.

Heavyyyy eye roll.

I mean where do I start.....this book is about as degrading of a woman as you can get. I’m really sick and tired of this writing style of woman, you do some horrible thing to her but “my body betrayed me” “this makes me sad but my body doesn’t care” “I liked that he didn’t care” “I felt freed”. This is not a good method to use anymore and it’s unrealistic. It’s also extremely annoying. if you can’t find a way to write a character that is sexually adventurous but innocent don’t write about these topics. Woman are known to need more mental stimulation so why does their BODY dictate their pride and dignity. It’s not just this author that does it but I’m soooooo sick of seeing it. Maybe it’s just me.....

*KU Read

I haven't read Sara in a while, so it was nice to jump into something dirty, hot, and just downright fun to read. His Majesty is an interesting royal read, unlike anything I have read. Matteo is king to a kingdom that is hidden from the world. When he finds Isabella he takes her to this hidden world and makes her his concubine. Needless to say, Isabella does not find this funny and fights him every step o the way.

I loved the chemistry between Matteo and Isabella, the story is built well and just enough is kept hidden from you while you are reading so that you want to find out what will happen in the end. Another great story by Sara!

Hated it

I couldn't finish this book. Matteo is a first class jerk, humiliating Isabella before his entire kingdom. And she winds up falling for this animal because? "Baby girl" is a fool. Sometimes there can be no HEA.

Isabella only had her finals and then she is back in the US again. But her friends did want to go out and party. She isn’t going to waste any of her time in Italy without enjoying herself. When she meets a sexy man at a bar, she decides to have a bit of fun. It all turns out horrible wrong. She is wisked away to a place unknown. She is punished thoroughly and can’t understand what it this other man does that is causing her to burn. Matteo is king and he will not be disrespected. His cousin was a fool but he isn’t. He sees what Isabella is and more but he will have to break her to build her back up.

OMG, when you read the title “Royally Rough Romance” you don’t think THAT rough. HOLY MOLY!!! Yeah it starts of fun. Isabella enjoy Italy, meeting Vincenzo, then BAM something happens. She is truly at Matteo’s mercy. I thought he was a mean in the beginning. MAN, he has her punished so thoroughly even I was sore. I couldn’t stop reading. I was glued to each word and action he did. This story really puts you in that space. I understood Bella’s fustrations and her anger at times. And the way of that world. OMG, really??? I have to give it to her, she held it together better than I would have. I probably would have curled up in a ball defeated. Sara you pushed it this time and MAN did it pay off. This book is totally over the top hot and leaves you aching. I do have one question or issue. What ever happened to the Duchess Amara D’Marco? Thought something was going to happen there.

Isabella is a US exchange student in Italy getting her masters degree. She wants to go out and have some fun and then she meets a handsome stranger. She ends up back at his place and when he tries to take advantage of her, he ends up dead. That is when she ends up in the hands of Matteo and is at his mercy. Fast-paced read with plenty of drama, suspense and steam. Intense chemistry and an entertaining story. I liked this steamy read.

DNF

This book was pretty much all over the place, and all of it is just too implausible. I can suspend reality just fine, but this was asking just too much. Hated the characters, and the plot is just ridiculous. This is one of those romances that is a vehicle for sexytimez and nothing more. I started skipping paragraphs and then I just quit. Not recommended.

She could never have known that one night would change her life so dramatically?
As Arabella had watched the body of her date as he had tried to force his unwanted attentions on her, then arrogantly had shot out his own balcony window. Who would ever have believed that this hubris and her fighting spirit would come head to head and that her date would fall to his dead?
As Isabella De Luca had been simply going about her every day life holidaying in Rome she could not have known how important t she actually was to the royal households. King Matteo who had rescued her from the crime scene by his officials could not believe the stubborn, tenacity of the female before him.
She was so much more than he ever-envisioned, he had been looking for her for so many years, she was all that remained of the line of decedents that had gone before him and that will follow him keeping his principality safe.
As the pair are getting to know each other she is surprised at how much both her body and her mind enjoy the punishments he carries out on her to bring her back in line, sometimes she finds it difficult to reconcile herself with the actions she appears to be enjoying and he is determined not to simply allow things to slide.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

I’ve been reading Sara Fields for quite a while now, and I’ve come to appreciate her writing style and plot lines as she takes me out of my ordinary life and places me in one of her creative worlds. It’s always a pleasure to read her words.

This is the story of Mateo Giovanni Santaro, a king in his own land, and Isabella DeLuca, a woman who draws his eye in more ways than one. There is a mystery here regarding these two that is eventually revealed through a very engaging story.

As per usual with this author, the plot is tight and well executed, the story was engaging and the characters well formed. I found myself going through an entire gambit of emotions as I read the book, and to me this is indicative of good storytelling. Highly recommended.

So so good! Isabella DeLuca is a US exchange student in Italy. She goes out to a club after finishing grad school to celebrate and meets Vincenzo Santaro and went with him when he offered a better place to have fun. When things turn dangerous he ends up dead, she runs only to be taken by strange men. She then meets King Matteo Giovanni Santaro and he tells her she now belongs to him. Mateo demands respect and Isabella refuses to obey him, so he punishes her. I loved the characters and their chemistry is intense. A fantastic steamy read!!

Dark domination and desires...
Isabella DeLuca caught King Matteo Giovanni Santaro’s attention when she had a run in with his cousin. Now she belongs to him. His Majesty demands total obedience, yet she continues to antagonize and defy him. Even when she knows the repercussions will be swift and painful. She doesn’t understand why she doesn’t hate him when he dominates her so thoroughly and shamefully. Instead, Isabella craves him...

The latest from Sara Fields had me glued to my kindle. Isabella and Matteo's story starts with her going out for a night on the town and ends up in King Matteo's room. The connection between them is intense as Isabella is sassy and feisty while Matteo is very kinky and dominant. Good story and awesome characters!!

Of Isabella and Matteo. Has a secret society feel which I liked but the story ended too abruptly. What happened to the duchess who thought she’d be marrying Matteo? How did the engagement announcement go? I think this book is due for an epilogue.

Meh 2.5 to 3

Not really sure why I read this. I think I have read so much due to the virus I am becoming brain dead and will read anything. This was so far fetched, but I guess that is why it’s fiction. Who stands outside the king’s house to watch and hear him have kinky sex? He went on forever, the big stud, so they had to stand there a long time! Also come have dinner and let everyone watch as a put on a live sex performance.

This is very explicit, so if not your thing don’t read it. I don’t get into all this punishment stuff and all the spanking got kinda yucky. (I know real mature word). I read a summary of the author’s other books and looks like they are all the same plot: public humiliation/punishment, kinky stuff, more public punishment, anal sex, and a HEA!

I felt like I was reading a wattpad story written by a 15 years old 😂. Smut, but no plot. A lot of things didn’t make sense to me. We have a H who is supposed to be a king… and fucks the h infront of everybody as a way of punishment. I mean, she’s supposed to be your future Queen, how you gonna do that. I don’t know, It wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t good either. And that nickname “baby girl” ? Seriously every two sentences the H was calling the h baby girl. Kinda annoying to be honest. 3/5

DNF at 67% - I need more story in my stories. But if you like straight kinky smut, this is for you! 😘 - dubcon, captive, spanking (not daddy kink), “baby girl”, exhibitionism, humiliation... it’s got all the good stuff. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But, alas, i was skimming the sex scenes for dialogue 🙈🤣🤣 I need my brain tickled too. 😬🤷🏼‍♀️😅

What you come to expect from Sara Fields.
Not that much story to it, and although a rival is introduced she is never mentioned again which is a shame.
Also word of warning there are a couple of intense public punishments/humiliation - if I had known possibly wouldn’t have read this book, they were a little too much.

This was okay, I guess. You really have to leave your brain out of this one though because practically nothing here makes any sense. From who Isabella "really is" to the whole hidden kingdoms all over the globe that actually rule the world. I might have been rolling my eyes at the power that Matteo bragged about having. The heat is definitely there, which obviously was the whole plot of this book in the first place. But it too just didn't seem to work for me. Damn could this guy sure hold out though.

Isabella has been studying in Italy and as a sort of last hurrah before coming back to the states wants to go out and party. Too bad all of her friends baled on her last minute. Doesn't stop her from going though and she meets this attractive, super wealthy, and confident guy. She figures no harm in letting him spoil her and getting some action after. Until they get to his place. Then all of a sudden he's drunk and she is shocked that he thinks they're gonna have sex. Like that wasn't her intention all along. Don't misunderstand me. When a girl says no (and actually means it), it's no and the jerk got what he deserved. But it irked me because that was what she expected to happen all along and then she gets all indignant about it. Anyway. She does something very bad and as she tries to flee, gets kidnapped instead.

Matteo was one of those characters that have too many sides to them to make me like them. Sure, he can be super sweet and doting. But he is also cruel and overbearing. As well as having to maintain another face that he shows his people. Here's one of the reasons I had to leave my brain out of things. He uses sex as a way punish people and keep them in line. Which is what he does often to Isabella here. Now, wouldn't you think that there would be a lot of people who would WANT to be punished like that? And how does that keep order in the first place?

So yeah. Pretty much as soon as Isabella wakes up in a strange castle she is used by Matteo until she breaks. And of course, she likes it. So she does things to provoke him which lead to more punishment. We get a day of him taking her around his kingdom where he laid the sweetness on thick before dropping the bomb of her true heritage. She needs time to process and I was actually quite pleased when she did leave him behind. But shocker of all shockers, she's already in love with him after only a handful of days spent there and willingly goes back after a few weeks.

I'm pretty upset that this book wasn't what I was hoping for. Mostly because I paid full price for it damn it. It wasn't great, but I also won't say it was a waste of time either.

Love and the King

Isabella "Bella" De Luca was supposed to go out with her girlfriends for a one last celebration before they finished grad school but they all canceled at the last minute. So she decided to get dressed up and go out by herself to a club where Vincenzo Santaro introduced himself to her. He turned out to be rich, charming, good looking and even bought her expensive champagne. She decided to have a little fun before she had to fly back to America so she went with him when he offered to take her to a better place to continue their fun. Things turn into a dangerous situation once she gets to his penthouse and he gets drunk and attacks her only he ends up dead. She flees his place only to be taken by men in suits. She wakes the next day confused ,dazed in a strange bed and clothes. When a man walks and tells her that the man that she threw out the window was his cousin but he isn't mad. He then introduces himself as Matteo Giovanni Santaro, with a long title to include King but said to call him "your Majesty". He tells her he saved her and she belongs to him.Their journey wasn't easy she was sassy, fierce and feisty and tested his every command. Even though she knows he is a dominant whose punishments are painful and swift she keeps pushing him at every turn. She should hate him for his punishments but she craves him and what he does to her. She finds out some revelations about why and how she ended up there.

Not for the faint hearted Super dark and super good!!
Isabella De Luca just wanted a night out with her best friends before her finals and she had to return to the states. She had really enjoyed her time in Italy. She wanted to go out so she got into her new little black dress and headed out. It wasn't long before a good looking guy was asking if he could get her a drink. He got her the best champagne. And it wasn't long before they were dirty dancing on the dance floor. When he asks her back to his she agrees. This decision changes her life forever. The night ended really badly leaving Bella with a black bag over her head and a man dead.
She wakes in a strange room in a new dress and no underwear. She walks around she is far from home. Then a man wakes in and he tells her he is Matteo Giovanni Santaro and he is the king and she needs to obey. Isabella does not bow down to him and she gets the punishment of her life but it isn't long till she realises that she is enjoying the tough treatment.
But hat will happen to these two.
OMG THIS IS SOME HARD CORE PUNISHMENT, WOW I DIDNT KNOW HOW TO STOP MY IMAGINATION FROM THE IMAGES I WAS SEEING. IT WAS JUST TOOOOOOOOOOOO HOT. I REALLY LIKED BELLA AND MATTEO. I UNDERSTOOD WHERE HE WAS COMING FROM I WASNT SURE AT FIRST BUT THE MORE I READ THE MORE I LIKED ABOUT HIM AND I DIDNT SEE THAT TWIST COMING. A REALLY HOT PASSIONATE READ.

This was a fast paced highly erotic story of a normal woman pursued by a rich, pushy Italian, but he pays the price of being overly agressive. Then Isobella finds herself in a quaint Italian castle in secluded country not many know about. She is faced with the king, Matteo, who seriously punishes and conquers Isobella as his subjects look on. After her humiliating punishment and Matteo's exhibition of the full act, she learns why she is where she is, she caused the death of a man, but the complications of that act are many and varied. There are quite a few revelations that Isobella will learn and Matteo is focused on possessing Isobella thouroughly. It's a dirty fairtale in a way, she learns all Matteo can teach her as she also learns her place in his Majesty's life on her knees open to all he desires of her. There are quite a few spankings and other punishments as Isobella struggles to adjust to life with royalty. I liked the story and both Isobella and Matteo, I just wished there was more of Matteo being a gentler lover but I understand his reasons for the extreme corrections he needed to inflict on Isobella and the fact that she ultimately enjoyed the thrill she got from them. I hope there are more Rough Royals in the near future.

★ The king in the mountains ★

—>>> When Isabella De Luca is stood up by her best friends on a night they should have been celebrating their graduation together, she makes a bad decision which will change her life as she knows it. When she sets eyes on a Matteo, little did she know what she will come to mean to him, for Matteo is the ruler of the Kingdom of Santaro, the King in the Mountains. All his subjects are loyal, and he makes no qualms that her outrageous manner, even if she was taken to his kingdom without her knowledge, will not be at all acceptable. AND she is to become his concubine.

“In my kingdom, when a bad little girl is disobedient, she is punished. I make the rules here and I ensure that they are enforced and right now, that means that this beautifully bared bottom is going to get the spanking it so richly deserves, ” he explained calmly…

The punishment is very strict, and happens often, as the rules of his court are rigid. As Isabella learns to navigate by his side, living a life much like that of a fairy tale, what she thought she knew about herself regarding her wants and needs will also change. I did believe that the Duchessa would become a greater antagonist in this story, though. Perhaps she will show up again!

I’m not sure

Its the first book I’ve read by this author so never knew what to expect. It wasn’t as bad as i thought nor as good as I’d have liked.

Isabella is a student in Rome in her last year, she was going out with friends to celebrate almost finishing studies, but they all backed out. So she went out alone and was picked up by a tall, dark, rich and handsome man ( what are the chances of that on a night out in a random bar ). He takes her back to his penthouse, tries to rape her, shoots a window out in his suite and whist in a drunken stupor and he’s trying to grab her, she pushes him out the window to his death.

She then tries to escape and is picked up in the lift and whisked away to a kingdom, that no one knows about.

Here she meets his majesty 🤴 Matteo who happens to be the cousin of the dead man and so the spanking begins.

I know its fantasy and if you can read it with that at the forefront of your mind, you’ll get to the end of the book. There are times when it’s just weird and others when you see a nice side of Matteo. But let me tell you, i will look at my root ginger in a different light from now on !!!

There’s no declaration of love, just spank and more spank and then happy ever after.

Try it yourself and see what you think.

I absolutely enjoyed reading each & every page of this intriguing royal romance. It has an excellent twist with a somewhat dark disciplinarian undertone but I promise you that it is definitely worth reading. The plot is well-written with some suspenseful situations & has good world building with splendid scene descriptions. The well-developed characters are unique with their individuality & one of the characters (Maximo) is quite determined to claim the female character (Isabella) for his own while she is trying to avoid her inevitable fate.
There is: a feisty young woman (Isabella De Luca) draws the attention of a king (Maximo Giovanni Santaro) after a confrontation with Maximo’s cousin (Vincenzo Santaro) who accidentally lands up quite dead, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, mystery, secrets, adventure, some action, devious plans, danger, threats, violence, abduction, confrontations, suspicions, trust issues, defiance, disobedience, discipline, spanking, humiliation, discovery, decisions, longings, compromises, love, contentment, explicit steamy scenes & a well-deserved satisfying conclusion.

This book was hot from start to finish, it left no doubt who was in charge and Metteo would change Isabella’s life for ever. After an accident which left Vincenzo dead Isabella is taken to a castle where she is throughly punished and conquer for her crime by the King while his subjects look on and witness her punishment. But to Isabella’s shock is that she had enjoyed what was done to her and is not sure why, but soon she learns what is expected of her and her new life but does struggle at times. Metteo has finally found what he’s been looking for all this time in Isabella and now he must train her to be everything he desires and more. Anger and frustration Isabella feels at Metteo’s mercy drove me crazy as well and it would have been great to see a gentler side to him towards Isabella but that’s not meant to be. If down and dirty is your thing than this book is for you, but there’s a whole lot more to this story that I know you will love just as I did.

Isabella was to spend her last night in Italy with three of her girlfriends and go dancing to celebrate their graduation before she left for America the next day. When all of them canceled for various reasons, she decided to go out alone and met a distinguished man whom she eventually left with. When they get to his penthouse he shows his true colors and things take an ugly turn and he winds up dead. As Isabella is trying to escape she manages to get in the elevator only to blackout. Upon awakening she finds herself in completely different clothes, lying in an elaborate bed that seems to be part of a castle, and a completely different man standing there watching her. She finds herself in a world she had no idea existed. Sara Fields has pushed the envelope with "His Majesty". The story itself flows, the character's personalities are easy to relate to, and the scenes are crazy HOT. I just wish there was a little more story around the scenes and I have just one question. What happened with Amara D'Marco?

There were many things I loved about this book. It had Ms. Field’s characteristic slam bang opening and HIGH level of HEAT. I was definitely intrigued by this secret kingdom. I really enjoyed Isabella and Matteo’s chemistry. It was SIZZLING. There were also things that were disjointed for me. The opening scene - I really liked, it seemed familiar, but it also didn’t really hang with the rest of the book, because the story never circled back to it. When Isabella first met His Majesty, I didn’t understand why he didn’t explain why she was there, or why he was doing the things he did. There was so much public humiliation (which is fine), but is this how the kingdom ran? There was no evidence of that. Also, Matteo went from almost cruel to understanding and kind in the blink of an eye with little explanation. I would have preferred the tension ridden out a little longer and the story been a little more detailed. But all in all, Ms. Fields knows how to write a quick sexy read. And I’ll always go back for more.

Isabella is just finishing her master studies in Rome. She tries to set up a special fun evening with her girlfriends at a local bar. When they are unavailable, she decides to go alone. Meeting a handsome, suave, sophisticated gentleman at the bar begins as an exciting adventure that turns quickly into extreme repulsion and terror.

King Matteo witnessed the tragedy that occurred. He was able to send his men to save Isabella and bring her to his tiny country. Matteo demands respect. When Isabella refuses to obey his commands, she discovers a ruler able to humiliate and punish her severely. While her mind might fight the consequences of her actions, her body responds rather enthusiastically.

This story is exciting and erotic and definitely ROUGH. It is also filled with unexpected secrets. Once I began reading, it was impossible for me to stop. I definitely recommend this story to anyone who enjoys dark and beautiful romance.
