Top on the list of "things I didn't expect to happen this weekend" is:

- Surprise sex with an alien-cyborg commander, which means I'm now the lady-mate in a weird marriage triangle with him and his legionnaire -

Although being taken to, and promptly busted out of, Area 51 by the aforementioned aliens is definitely a close second.

I also didn't really bargain for how much I'd fall for these two extraterrestrial men. There are more than a few on this rig who find our relationship a violation of nature, though. And unfortunately, they don't seem too content to just judge us silently from afar.

No, these Turukai are more than willing to voice their disagreements. And when they threaten not just my happy little threesome, but all of humanity as well?

I might be forced to make one hell of a *drastic decision*.

~*~ READER DISCRETION ADVISED: DUBCON & EXPLICIT CONTENT ~*~
--This novel contains a scene of dubcon ("dubious consent", as described by medium.com as "[indicating] that consent is unknown or uncertain, and this is distinguished from consent being definitely absent. Often, a character involved is uncertain about whether he or she wants to participate.”). Directly after this scene, participants discuss what happened and what cultural misunderstandings led to the situation.

--This novel also contains frequent, explicit sexual content with non-humans. If this type of content is what you're here for, you'll have a great time! If not, you may want to try a sample first.

I've been writing since 7th grade and have always had a love for all things fantasy! My grandpa introduced me to Zelda and Lord of the Rings, and from there my interests just expanded! I developed a love for culture and anthropology, for linguistics and biology, and slowly I've managed to puzzle piece together that perfect blend of interests into something I believe makes my writing unique, vivid, and out of this world!

That's the goal, at least ;]

I love my writing most when I'm able to showcase the coming together of two separate cultures and how those cultures would clash and interact. I love showing language barriers, subverting expectations, and toying with social taboo. Sometimes I use these in a strictly fantasy setting, but my truest passion is when I'm able to let loose and really flex my worldbuilding in the science-fiction universe instead! I never seem to get away from the romance genre, though, because I feel like the world could always use a little more love <3

I enjoyed this one a lot it’s sci-fi romance and the second book I’ve read by this author.
It’s a long read which I was really pleased about I do like my lengthy tomes and it’s described as a poly romance, Which basically is fancy terms for reverse harem.

I was very surprised at how different this was from the previous book I’ve read by this author.
That one is a prequel and also another stand-alone but they really are like chalk and cheese.
The former being very slow-burn whilst this one was definitely fast-burn in regards to the heat.

This story focuses on human Riley who finds herself contained for further questioning in Area 51.
Whilst out on a hike she is inadvertently injured along with Paneun.
He’s an alien scout who has been captured by the government whilst doing recon on Earth.
Riley tries to assist him despite her own injuries and she finds herself being taken into custody along with the alien and when he manages to escape he takes her along with him back to his mothership.

The Turukai are a reptile-like species with added mechanical tech so there like reptilian cyborgs I know cool right.
Once aboard their ship Riley attracts the interest of the big boss himself The Exalt who takes her for his mate.
The Turukai usually house themselves as trios so alongside The Exalt or Marine as Riley monikers him Pan is taken into their den as Riley’s caregiver.
A male to provide for her emotional needs and also one for providing and the physical.

There’s cultural differences to overcome on both sides and a unique way of communicating and plenty of heat here also.
The majority of this story takes place in the spaceship itself but I was never bored this captured my imagination from the second I started reading.

I was less sure regarding the eventual inclusion of Riley’s ex Leo I would much preferred it if he hadn’t reentered the picture when he did but to be fair it did work out ok it just wasn’t my preferred scenario.
Riley was great she is definitely no drama llama and in fact, takes things in readjusting her reactions accordingly.
I liked her a lot especially her willingness to accept and adapt.

The males here were a nice mix of dominance and sweetness balancing each other out very nicely.
Marine is all take control masterful bluntness whilst Pan is there for the aftercare and emotional nuances.
Leo well he slotted in nicely taking control but with a sense of fun and mischief.
Each providing something Riley needs.
I was a bit surprised we never got to see any aftermath regarding Pan’s sister after what happened with her mate I did think this would be brought up especially when they returned home but it wasn’t.

Overall this was a great read and despite most of the action taking place on a spaceship it still had some really rich world-building.
Definitely recommend this one it really was great.

I can't with the heroine mentioning and remembering her ex-boyfriend all the time. I can't with one of the H. And I really can't with her not being angry about some of the things that happen to her. I was angry, but she was just lusting over the H.

Edit: Btw, the alien language didn't read alien, it was like romanized korean.

I remember voting on the choice of a cover for this a while back. So when it was recommended on one of my other book groups .. it tickled my memory a bit. Caught me with a hook.

Now, I have read my fair share of sci fi, RH and RH sci fi romances. This one was ... refreshing in some ways and similar in other ways. And ended up being a pleasant surprise.

I enjoyed how the story started off. Action packed. Like what is happening right now? poor thing was just trying to hike and BOOM, you're caught in the middle of something you cannot even fathom. Kudos to the author for this intro.

Of course, this is where it becomes a bit predictable in regards to sci fi romances. But that's not entirely a bad thing. Just that it's a common thing.

One thing that was very UNIQUE about this book was ... the descriptions of the aliens. Wow, I was so fascinated. I was so intrigued at how it all worked. How the author so smoothly created these beings. I have become a big fan of this species that the author has created.

Over the course of their miscommunications/cultural differences (a trope I enjoy, BTW) we find a story of budding romance and emotions. But, there were times when ... I was a bit irked by the heroine's mind ramblings and decision making aboard the ship. Wanted to slap her at times. But we come to find...it's just who she is. Take it or leave it.

Around this time... I found there to be a sort of ... lull to the story. It started slowing down, and I questioned myself if it will become a struggle to finish this book. But I trudged on anyway because I was curious. Wanted to see how this turns out. I have found many a gem of books just doing it this way ... see it to the end, you might be pleasantly surprised.

And I was.

After this strange lull, the dramatic rise of action scenes kept me on the edge of my seat. There were times when I said, surely ... it can't go this way ... surely... oh dear, what will happen now? How is this story going to proceed? the story reeled like a Hollywood movie behind my eyes.

Then, it went a way I was curious about ... considered it, but didn't see it coming. And wow, kudos to the author on how she incorporated that. This is where the story peaked my interest again just like it had in the opening chapters. My enjoyment of the story escalated.

The incorporation of a beautiful HEA was just the cherry on top. Kudos to this author for originality where it came through and for an action packed adventure I didn't know I was getting. If this is your first book, I am thoroughly excited to see how your writing grows. 4.5 stars

Holy cow! I don't know what I expected going into this book, but it was so much better than I could have guessed! The world-building is so complex I have no idea how it is done so gracefully. The relationships are complicated and wonderful and real, and the handling of cultural differences is fascinating.

I don't normally read a lot of sci-fi, but this is definitely going on my reread list.

A rebel cosmonaut...

Lila Riley Reagan was just wallowing in sadness, taking a hike through the canyons, when madness finds her. Helicopters, gunfire, bad enough, but alien robots? Trying to escape the insanity herself, she can't help pausing to roll the rock off its back so it could flee, too. Only, her legs are broke and she's pretty sure its back is after that rock. Collected by the people who were previously shooting at them, waking in a a facility isn't a surprise. Neither are the screams. The giant robot breaking into her cell was, though. So was the black cocoon that enveloped them. The real kicker was the ship full of other robots.

Spoilers ahead.
This was fantastic. Aliens who were definitely alien, a cultural give and take, cultural clashes, changes to ingrained behaviors, an adaptable and not TSTL heroine, and the willingness to communicate everything. Thank you for the heads-up on the misunderstanding of mating norms. I can see where it would be triggering, and the warning should actually read to skip to chapter 4, not skip 4. It occurs in 3, so it would be too late for sensitive readers. The rundown is, for those that would avoid but want to know what else occurs around it is- she's challenged to a duel for a place among them. She, of course, has no clue what's going on, why she was passed from 1 alien to another, and why this one is jumping and hissing at her. But, she holds her own and winds up impressing him enough he decides to take her as a mate. Now, she can't understand him, has no idea why they rescued her only to fight her, and is very confused as to why this guy is suddenly very handsy. Things progress past that, she's taken to the doc and then fitted with an implant for communication. He can hear her fearful thoughts, realizes what's expected by his people was terrifying for her and they talk. Talking, it's such a wonderful concept, but so many authors don't use it. In this book, it's key. She has to learn how to communicate differently, but they all talk to each other. In the relationship. But, outside that, I have questions.
*Why didn't they try to communicate with the humans? Sure, first they were scouting and making reports. But after Pan's partner was taken, and after the discovery during food raids, especially after the fight, or the other 2 incidents. They never attempt to, or ask for permission to, or ask for another party- one with leaders or representatives, to come talk. Humans are panicky but we like words.
*Marine says he'd never hit a woman, and didn't- even in the challenge, but he slapped at her and pushed her. Falling down still causes pain, so that excuse was flimsy. He never physically hurt her himself, but emotional and mental upheavals cause pain.
*They never met the queen, so does that mean that they were pardoned? Because there were some kidnapping charges and probably some sort of repercussion for exposure to humans. But nothing is ever mentioned, this book closes out, and it looks like the next will be 1 of the previously discovered humans- like a prequel.
*Why, when they did brain scans for her implant, did they not do a full body scan for future reference? Or, why do they not have handheld scanners they could have taken to the surface? They have incredible technology, this seems like a huge oversight.
*We're never told why the custom of mating in triads, but 1 male as another homemaker, is the norm. The secondary male gives up his career, and the option of sex, to be a caregiver to a woman he will probably never do more than give a back massage to. Also, do women never have jobs? Or leadership roles? Can they until mating? We learn about so many customs, even who it's ok to have for tea, but never about female roles outside of the home.
*L's wife and her domestic male, we never learn what happens when they find out, or how they find out. Considering her situation, could her domestic become the head of household? Or will he remain in that position while she accepts a new main mate? Considering her being Pan's sister, I thought we'd see her there at the end. But families don't appear to be that close?
*Do women get the mech additions?
*After the big fight, there was damage to her abdomen. She never once asks about what that might mean down the road. Are kids a possibility? Will she never have to worry about a period in space again?
*Um, if she is still able to have kids, are they doing home birth? Because there's some interesting stain overlaps that are apparently no-nos , and a medic of their species is going to spot that right off.
*I was a little sad we didn't get to see Leo's reaction to the alien birds and the bees.
*Didn't Pan already lose his job after accepting being mated to Marine and Lila?
I have so many more thoughts but it's almost 4am and my brain is sputtering lol.
Oh, it needs some editing touch-ups. Nothing horrible, but some homonym oopsies, some punctuation errors and some dropped words that are probably due to flying fingers typing at high speeds.

Really really weird

So I’m all about alien reverse harem romances. I’ve read a lot of them - males coming in many shapes and sizes - and still found the books and romances awesome. This is not one of those books. I’m so grossed out by the male aliens I literally got nauseas every time there was an intimate scene. Let me explain to you why….

The male aliens have faces like beasts, for real, they have SNOUTS!! Imagine reading a book about a woman kissing or being given oral sex by a man with a snout…gag! They are literally slobbering up their food like feral dogs. And they do the same thing to her pussy. I wanna die at the descriptions. It feels like bestiality.

The male aliens have retractable penises. That in itself is not a bad thing. The men have a bulge, that looks like an anus, their dripping wet and color coded cocks come out of the anus bulge like a tentacle - searching out and moving all around by itself! The men don’t even thrust because their cock does all the moving by itself. Their cum is also colored and it stains whatever it touches permanently.

They have dripping wet, retractable anus cocks! And this girl can’t stop fantasizing about sucking on their weird, sopping wet, appendages. I’m feeling sick just thinking about it. Most alien romances have more humanoid MMC’s. These men are bestial cyborgs. The only human thing about them is their mentality. The sex was not hot at all.

Anyways…not my cup of tea at all. Nothing sexy about this book. The story was extremely long without much happening except gross animal sex. It wasn’t until 75% in that anything significant happened with the plot. This book is like 600 pages or something, I feel like I really wasted my time.

Honestly, this book was more monster erotica than story, especially with the FMC Lila stuck in a room on the spaceship all day for her "safety". I mainly had issues with the stream-of-consciousness narration from Lila and the pacing where you thought it was just going to be an alien menage story, but the 3rd MMC joined in in the last 15% of the book out of nowhere.

I had to take a break in the middle since while I appreciated Lila's strong personality, there were just so many dumb decisions going around, from the lying to the bullheadness in combination with her naivety of alien customs. Most of the subplots were somewhat tied up, but the alien/human relations were rather hand-waved over as well as how the aliens in general were willing to accept humans without the main commander alien having to physically fight for their safety.

The smut was definitely hard on the non-humanoid, so read with care if you're not into that sort of story. I liked the prequel to the series, but I didn't particularly enjoy this book, and the book dragged on with its length. I wanted to check out the next book since I was interested in the universe, but it seems like the author abandoned any full releases and just published their notes, so I'm not bothering with the rest of the series.

I got the chance to read this book as a beta reader and I really enjoyed it. The world building is complex and realistic. The alien race has a distinctly different culture. The heroine is forced to adapt, improvise, overcome, and survive and she does so without buckling. The romance starts off with a dubcon twist and there’s some cultural misunderstandings that everyone has to work through. The character and relationship development are believable. Overall this is an interesting and entertaining read and if you like your sci fi romance on the slightly more action side then you’ll enjoy this.

*Trigger Warning*
There is a certain part of the story that needs to be addressed as a possible trigger warning.
The female lead doesn't necessarily decide to call this one act rape, but it is eluded to such a nature.
If you are uncomfortable with such things, please do not read this book.

This isn't like most alien books I've read.
At least in my opinion.
Sure, you have the classic trope of woman stumbles upon alien.
Alien kidnaps human.
Human and alien fall in love.
But this is so much more than that.

Lila is trying her hardest to get over a break-up.
It wasn't one she necessarily wanted, but she knew it was for the best.
Doesn't mean that it doesn't still hurt.
Even after a year
However, she decides it's time to climb a new mountain.
Figuratively and physically.
She never expected for her mini vacation to take the turn it did.

When Lila finds the alien, he is being chased by some form of government.
Only they don't seem to care that he is chasing right behind Lila and she will be caught in the cross-hairs.
After they are both brought back to the facility, Area 51 is Lila's guess, things take an even further turn.
This is where it starts getting good.

The romance in this story is different.
Mostly because of the alien culture.
It starts off as a single romance.
And it isn't with the alien you would initially believe.
In the alien culture, females have servants who are usually not a part of the romance side of things.
However, Lila changes that for her new family dynamic.
And when Lila is nearly killed protecting her aliens, they call in her ex-boyfriend who is a doctor and things change once more.
You don't get to see much of the relationship once the human doctor is added into the mix.
Mainly because it does take place closer to the end of the book, but that doesn't mean that it isn't there or interesting to see play out because it is.
This story isn't about the steaminess of the relationships, but more about how they are cultivated and grown upon. The amount of communication they have between each other and how open they are to changing the dynamics between one another even though neither party are accustomed to such things.

There is some steaminess within the book, but not overly so.
We see mostly from Lila's point of view.
However, we do see some of the male characters POV's as well.

One thing that I will say confused me in this story is the main female characters name.
Each chapter has the character name of who you will be reading from.
On the female's, it is Lila.
However, she doesn't go by that name.
She goes by Reagan.
It takes a while for you to figure out the WHY of this.
And it is her last name.
Lila Riley Reagan I believe is her full name.
Each of the male characters call her something different.
It's cute like a pet name, though it is her given names.

This book is very well written and you definitely get to see the individual characteristics of each of the people you are reading about.

Would definitely recommend to those looking for some RH Sci-Fi romances to give this one a try.
You won't be disappointed.

An epic saga of Love, Loss and New Beginnings. Reach for the stars. You never know where life will take you.

This book is the first in a Reverse Harem Sci-Fi Romance series by Heather Relken. It is predominantly set on a spacecraft orbiting Earth and features human and alien beings. It can be read as a standalone novel. There is some violence and there are several descriptive scenes of consenting inter-species sexual activity between a trio of one human female and two alien males.

Heather Relken is a very talented writer. The story is well paced and flows beautifully. I didn’t want to put it down. The worldbuilding and descriptions of alien craft, creatures, cultures and traditions are vivid and feel realistic. The aliens in this book are technologically very advanced and not overly humanoid in appearance.

There are scenes of suspense, action and violence. There are also descriptive scenes of a sexual nature; with the exception of one where there is questionable consent due to language barriers, they are all consenting and they are part of the characters' bonding with each other, therefore are necessary to the plot of the story.

Someone has discovered Earth; a previously unknown planet hidden away in the far reaches of the universe. Someone is kidnapping humans, stripping their memories and selling them for wildly high prices at auction. Humans were previously unknown in the wider galaxy. The Turukai have been tasked with monitoring Earth to find out more about them and who is taking them.

Lila Riley Reagan has taken herself off hiking in the mountains to distract her broken heart from the one-year anniversary of her break-up from a long term relationship. The last thing she expected to find herself doing was being caught up in a gunfight between alien beings and government agents.

After falling from a cliff, breaking her legs, trying to rescue an injured alien, being unceremoniously dragged off to a secret facility for questioning along with that alien, then rescued from that facility by said alien, she could be forgiven for thinking that was enough drama for one day.

She’d be wrong though. She wakes up on a spacecraft in a medical bay with newly repaired legs and surrounded by strange creatures. She’s hauled off and presented to the Exalt, the leader of this military operation, where she faces trial to test her worthiness and is subsequently claimed as a mate by the Exalt. That’s where her adventures really begin.

This is a long, action-packed novel and I really struggled to put it down. The characters are well developed, individual and deep. The story was really well thought out and interesting. I was thoroughly immersed in this world. I cannot wait to see what else this author produces. I want more of this universe.

I had read the blurb of this book many times in different occasions and I always found it really interesting. So, I'm really glad I gave this author a chance. It is not your typical Sci-Fi romance.
First of all, it is a long book! Frankly, the longest I've ever read in Sci-Fi, and I liked it. The plot is good, the characters are interesting and different, one sweet & one alpha male (and one in-between), the FMC is not a remarkable one, but I didn't really mind.
There is some action and a lot of steam (thumbs up). The story is slow-paced but fast-burn, easy to read, entertaining and emotional. I didn't quite like the fact that the H mentioned her ex so many times, and I didn't really like that he ended up being part of the group. Overall, I enjoyed the story and I'd like to read a continuation :)

Blue or red staining oh my!

Very different than I was expecting...definitely not the old human gets kidnapped and falls in love with the hunky alien! Truly a unique and enjoyable story that had me staying up all night to finish. Every character stole a piece of my heart and I am looking forward to more of these delicious stories!

Not my cup of rusted bog water

Are you into dinosaur furries? Do you like cyborgs? 75% robot bodies, including mechanical eyes? Secretly wish you could have two hubbies? Like first person present tense writing? Are you unbothered by dubcon? Then this book is for you!

It wasn’t for me. But that’s okay. Was written well and had a unique storyline. I just can’t imagine finding someone with a reptile face sexy. Or any animal. Too beastiality like for me.

I M generally not a fan of stories that are about different characters in the same multiverse, but after reading Stowaway, I knew I had to at least try this one and I'm so so glad I did. Such a great story 🖤

What a great story!

Wow, I enjoyed this book so much. The characters were very likeable and the storytelling was amazing. Hopefully we can get a second book for t he start of a series. I'd love to see some of the other characters get involved with a human to see how they'd handle it.

This was Amazing!

This was a recommendation in my Facebook group. I’m so glad I read it. This is my first book by this author. This book blew me away. It has the most amazing world building. Marine and Paneum an unlikely paring are my new book boyfriends. This book was the right length. I do hope for a sequel that illustrates their life in the future. Lila this woman’s inner dialogue was so funny. She was just perfect. She had an inner fire that burned so brightly. I do wonder what happened with Paneums sister. I already loved lizard men and now I have two more. I read some of the negative reviews and she does talk and think about Leo way too much but its ok. I still enjoyed it so much. I’m glad I didn’t let them stop me from reading this wonderful book. I just found a new author to stalk. I will be recommending this book everywhere. I highly recommend this book.

This book is quite the journey. Its sweet and funny, sad, and sweet again. I loved the heros and the heroin so much.

Lila is goofy and kind and spunky, Marine is that perfect hard on the outside with a gooey center architype, Pan is just the sweetest thing and Leo really surprised me and I love him!

Unique

This is an interesting and unique story. I’ll admit I almost DNFed due to many typos and a bit of blathering from the FMC, but I was interested enough to stick it out to see what happened. I wouldn’t necessarily call this poly, a large majority of the book is MFM, but there are hints that it may become a poly relationship. It’s ends as a 4some with no swords crossing.
I’d say the story is from a novice writer but is good enough to give it a read. If typos bother you like they do me, be prepared to get a bit frustrated.

3 stars. But I had to skip ahead a little. The story was interesting in the beginning, but then it was not for me.
Also I just can't understand how on day one after being on alien ship she fell into comfortable relationship already, having such such shallow thoughts and lusting after 2 aliens straight away. I did not feel any relationship build up at all. And the amount of immature thoughts of h are annoying for me, I don't know how a male can stand hearing everything like that...it's extreme.
Then I couldn't understand how the h could be considered thoughtful and empathetic, when she didn't spare a single thought about what it would be like for Pan being a partner in the triangle without any benefits for himself before and after agreeing to that type of relationship and then playing and teasing him when she new she could not provide him any satisfaction at the end. I'd consider it cruel.
Anyway, it's just not my kind of read.

As always i like this authors' writing style.
DNF at 10% or 50 pages.
A massive trigger warning for r@pe.
Main character gets rpd and her body enjoys the physical feeling of it, which can happen to real people too. Then, all the characters and the story itself position the event as a good thing that the guy doesn't need to apologise for. The MC isn't even really angry, just mildly ticked off. The whole thing is chalked up to culture differences because the dude is an alien.
All in all not something i am comfortable with.

This first novel is enjoyable and a nice long read. The alien race is detailed and definitely non-human. The relationships were complex and grew over time, which helps me believe in the draw between the characters. I did think some of the time spent between characters could have been condensed to cut down on the length of the novel as those parts seemed repetitive and overly long. However, the overall read was good.

I look forward to seeing more works by this author.
