I stood a minute looking out the porthole at the bright water. Damon had been so gallant, protecting me from Nigel’s advances, taking my elbow as we boarded the boat. Did he like me?
Now he sat barefoot with his shirt unbuttoned and the wind messing his dark hair. I could feel a magnetic pull, an animal attraction to such a prime male specimen.
No, no. I couldn’t let my mind wander there. This is strictly professional. I would serve as his personal chef for one week only, two at the most. I would wow Damon and leave with a good reference when we returned. I was done with men for a while. I needed time to get past the disaster with Nigel. I had learned my lesson and there would be no mixing work with pleasure.

I jumped on reviewing this book simply because my husbands name is Damon. I didn't read the blurb or look to see if it was part of a series, I went in blind on this one.
I would have loved to give it a 5 star review. The story was a hard to put down read with compelling, easily relatable characters. The suspense of the story kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I was fully engaged. Now I understand that this is an ARC copy that I have read and I use a lot of patience when reading and reviewing ARCs. I rarely mention typos, missing words or other basic proofreading misses. I figure they have either been left on purpose because it is an ARC or they will be caught in a final pass before publishing, but this one had more than these simple errors. There were a few plot line errors that really bummed me considering how well the book as a whole was written. An example would be the conversation Damon had with his assistant, Harper's mother, Melissa on the phone after they were rescued by the Coast Guard. She yells at him about the storm, drugs and pirates. (On a side note, why would she yell at Damon when he had no control over any of those things happening. It was weird and not the expected reaction.) Then when he sees her in the hospital at Harpers bedside and Harper is telling her story to the police, Melissa starts yelling at Damon again, because this is the first she has heard of what happened to them. Frankly Melissa was the one plight on the story. I never could figure out if she was trying to set up Harper with Damon or if she really didn't want them together or if her daughter and her boss being together never crossed her mind. It felt like Melissa's reaction was dependant on how it worked best with that scene rather than keeping her character consistent with her own character arc to follow.
Anyway, I don't want to harp on the negative, because this book even with it's flaes was a joy to read. I would recommend you give it a try.

Damon is a hot billionaire CEO that needs some time off, and preps to set sail on his boat for 2-3 weeks, but it’s so last minute that he doesn’t have a chef and he can only make hot cocoa and peanut butter sandwiches. His assistants daughter, Harper, is a chef and is available and hired on this last minute trip. Sparks fly, she makes mouth watering meals that leave you salivating, and oops someone hid a bunch of drugs on the boat. An unexpected storm, pirates, and more make this love story a fun adventure. This is a really good read, and will leave you hoping that Liam’s story is next!

This novel had a lot of good moments, a lot of sweet moments; BUT it also had lot of just okay moments and just a sliver of the romance that the title implied. However, even though there were times when it would lull, I never pondered choosing another novel for immediately something would grab my attention again. There was always something slightly spicy or mysterious which would reel me back in to stick by the side of this author. In the end, though, I'm glad I finished reading this novel.
Will be looking for more books from this author. I really liked Harper and Damon. There are many twists and suspense in this story. I found myself captivated and couldn't put the book down. Read very quickly. Highly recommend this book.

This is a great story with a sexy hot romance. I loved the charisma between the characters and their individual strengths. The h is a strong woman who overcomes adversity for her child and the man she comes to love. It's a great story.
Damon needs a vacation so he sets out on his boat with Captain Michael after hiring Harper as the chef, and then it's on, storm, death and floating for weeks before they're rescued, not to mention the problems they have when they get home.
There is so much drama in these books. It gives me stress reading even though I know the happily ever after is coming. The emotions are up and down all over the place. I couldn't put it down.
The book is a good adventure love romance storyline, it is captivating and entertaining. Strong intriguing characters. It is written well. I appreciate reading the book.
Harper was a fool to go back to work for that sniveling bully. I suspected she or Damon would be meeting trouble soon. No body means a person is probably still alive.
I did not feel a connection between the main characters at all. Some of the writing was a little stilted as well. This was my first read in this series, and sadly, I don't think I'll be trying the other installments.
