I have always enjoyed Tami Hoag's books, so to not enjoy one was surprising. I started to read it and it was well written as usual but I could not connect with this story.
Was so slow, building a background story, in the beginning that I couldn’t find myself getting into it. Pushed thru and after some time was hooked. The second half of the book kept me guessing on a roller coaster of twists and turns.
Overall was long and tough to start but I did very much enjoy the story.
o this was a bit of a long book but good..so a husband and wife team have to work together to solve at least 2 cases one of them is a murder of a 7 yr old child and the 2nd is his missing 14 yr old babysitter and along the way deal with a jerk of a new sheriff and smart aleck teenagers and a mother with a chekered past..so will they solve their cases and deal with their crazy lives or what...good writer enjoy
While I did enjoy this book and the quality of the writing, I didn’t think it met with the standards of the first two in this series. The plot was typically the same with the murder of a young boy and then another in the woods near the school. The development of the characters could have been from the other books, just with different names and in a different state. Having said that, I would read her again and hope the plot went differently.
I am finding that one of my favorite types of books are murder mysteries featuring detectives with a snarky sarcastic sense of humor. Tammi Hoag’s writing is stellar and her character development is second to none. Another page turner with numerous twists and turns and had me guessing until the last 60 pages where the truth slowly revealed itself. This book would make a great movie!
I could not finish this book. I did not make it a quarter in. She must have been paid by the word. On and on and on with no real point. I have enjoyed other Hoag novels, but this was a true disaster.
Book was slow moving in the beginning, the second half was better. I was surprised by the person that hurt so many people but they were hurt. As the saying goes- hurt people, hurt people or something like that.
Have to see if there is a sequel to this. Love Nick Fourcade and Antoinette Broussard, the detectives who help to solve 2 murders and find a missing person.
