Saurabh Kudesia's Stuti is the second installment in his Hindi series "Mahabharat Aadhaarit Pauranik Rahasya Gaatha." As a continuation of the first book, Aahwan, this novel plunges deeper into the intricate web of mythological mystery, valor, and divine intervention, all inspired by the grand epic Mahabharata.
Plot and Premise
The story resumes with Shoṇ, a warrior from Chirpunj, arriving with an urgent message from Lord Krishna. This message is more than a simple plea; it is a potential game-changer for the Mahabharata war. Krishna implores the warriors of Chirpunj, known for their indomitable courage and martial prowess, to abandon the battlefield and seek refuge in Lord Shiva's grace.
What follows is a gripping exploration of loyalty, dharma, and personal conviction. The novel delves into whether these seasoned fighters, raised in the traditions of honor and duty, will heed Krishna’s divine guidance or remain steadfast in their own ideologies.
Themes
Stuti beautifully portrays the timeless themes of sacrifice, patriotism, and the struggle between destiny and free will. It delves into the nuances of strategic warfare and political maneuvering—an often-understated aspect of the Mahabharata. Kudesia’s narrative invites readers to reflect on the spiritual and ethical dilemmas that arise in the pursuit of a just cause.
Writing Style
Saurabh Kudesia’s writing is both poetic and precise, weaving a tapestry of rich historical and mythological elements. His meticulous attention to detail is evident, with well-placed footnotes adding depth to the narrative. The prose is engaging, making it accessible even to readers unfamiliar with the Mahabharata’s complexities.
The language captures the grandeur of ancient India while maintaining a pace that keeps the reader hooked. Each chapter builds upon the last, creating an immersive experience that feels both modern and timeless.
Strengths
Immersive World-Building: Kudesia breathes life into the setting, with vivid descriptions of Chirpunj and its people.
Philosophical Depth: The story balances action with profound questions about duty, morality, and divine intervention.
Continuity: As a sequel, Stuti seamlessly continues the threads left by Aahwan, while standing strong as an independent story.
Shortcomings
While Stuti excels in its storytelling, the abundance of details may overwhelm readers unfamiliar with the original Mahabharata. Some passages, though enriching, could feel dense for those expecting a faster-paced narrative.
Conclusion
Stuti is a compelling journey into the heart of mythology, unraveling layers of ancient truths while remaining deeply human in its exploration of faith, strategy, and sacrifice. It is a must-read for lovers of mythological fiction and those seeking a fresh perspective on the Mahabharata.
Saurabh Kudesia's ability to blend mythology with suspense makes this novel an enthralling addition to Hindi literature. If you enjoyed Aahwan, this continuation is bound to exceed expectations.
Just to start with the introduction, I kept all my excitement to myself before I start reading this book. I was curious what sort of twist and turn will I be encounter while reading it and how the author will connect to which mythological part/ story but truly Sourabh Kudesia did the best possible way to create the aura of curiosity throughout the part one and two consecutively (Stuti & Ahwaan). After reading these now I am exhilarate for the next ten days when the 3rd part will release.
Now talking about Stuti; story start with the mysterious death of Rohan. Some other deaths occur all around the city which is all connected to him and his inscriptions (Pandulipi). Some vicious animal come to the city start hunting all the family members of Rohan to purloin the Rohan's bequeath and his inscriptions. Then whole stroy took its turn and connect itself with mahabharata & some 2000 years old yantra. The Indian archaeologist Center head; Dr. Verma, Rohan's friend; Inspector Jayant, Dr. Majumdar and Rohan's family member all come to the picture and start solving the whole mystery to one.
Next part: Ahwaan consist of side plot which is part of Indian epic story of Mahabharata, which happen in the same timeline. This plot highlights the war between Nagraj Takshak and Garur raj. How Lord Krishna mystically uses his political skills and solve it. Some new characters will come across which we never knew were part of Mahabharata too & how this whole thing is connected and played an important role in Kurukshetra War. The best thing about this whole storyline is, author effortlessly connects all dots and joined the epic tale to Rohan's murder case and will convince you its all true incident not some fictional show. In short, author writing style is so emphatic and epigrammatic that it will hook you till you read the whole book in one breath. If you like mythology, thriller, crime, adventure, mystery experiences all in one then this trilogy book you should grab next.
