Goshen Series #3

Another Chance

Rate this book
A widowed single mother, her grieving son, and the man from her past that vows to rebuild the broken family…

Small town Goshen knows no secrets. Not even the loss of Cara’s husband in the military. The loss devastates her and her fifteen-year-old son, Alek. Alek begins to act out. Distraught, grieving, and with her son’s behavior escalating, Cara doesn’t know what to do as her son faces expulsion from school.

Instead of expelling her son, the principal takes the boy under his wing.

Under his calm, understanding guidance, Alek begins to heal. What Cara doesn’t know is that the principal is someone from her past… someone she never forgot; Hansel. With her son recovering and her own heart beginning to mend, Cara finds herself wondering if she’ll find a second chance at love. Can she heal from her loss? Or will her broken heart forever be a hurdle that keeps them apart?

As Cara and Hansel begin their road to “friendship” someone from his past has other plans for him. Alek is finally getting use to the fact that his mom and Hansel are friends and decides to do better at school. Who is this lady from Hansel’s past and just what is her plans? I am anxious to see what Kim has in store for us in the next book.
This my honest review that I voluntarily am leaving for the arc copy that I have received.

Just when things seem to be looking up for single mom Cara, her teenage son Alex, and her almost-boyfriend Hansel, a blast from Hansel’s past threatens to ruin everything. Cara learns to allow Hansel to be a bigger part in her life, opening herself up to the possibility they could be more. Alek finally shapes up at school, choosing to audition for the school play instead of getting into trouble. Hansel struggles to keep his past from colliding with his present as an old flame returns with devious plans of her own. A quick, fun read that explores Hansel’s past and who he was before he met Cara and Alek. Like Alek, Hansel is quick to anger and has a temper, especially when dealing with his ex. Hopefully, he can overcome this as the story progresses, much like Alek has overcome his attitude issues in this part of the story. Looking forward to the next instalment of this series!

Hansel is confronted with his past when Jessica, his ex-girlfriend, shows up. Though his relationship to Cara is not all he wishes for, he does not want anyone to come between their friendship. He does all he can to avoid Jessica, which appears to be quite difficult since she pops up at the most unexpected times.
I have issues understanding the dynamics between the characters. It seems illogical. I don’t understand why Hansel and Cara should be holding hands if they are only friends or why Hansel is not open to Cara and explains his dilemma with Jessica. Nonetheless, the story flows easily, the new character’s devious plans are presented and prepares the reader for the sequel.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third book of the Goshen series. These are definitely a set of books to be read in order, so make sure you read 1 and 2 first. In this installment, Alek is starting to come around and accept his mom's friendship with Hansel and he is going to try and do better in school. Just when things are looking positive, someone from Hansel's past shows up and throws everyone for a loop. I'm definitely anxious to see how things develop in the next installment! This is a good, clean, and interesting series and I would definitely recommend you give it a try!

I was gifted an advanced reader's copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Hansel gives Cara’s son Alek detention for acting out at school. Then tryouts come for the school play and Hansel tells Alek if he tries out he will let him off detention. Hansel’s ex is hired to work on the play without his say so. Alek’s attitude has a readjustment.

Third book in the series by Kim Hall. A short clean story of a widow, her son and her want to be beau. The antagonist has a much bigger part in this book. It made it much more interesting and leaves the reader anticipa, ting the next installment. Enjoyable short story.

I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review.

Can a blast from the past derail Hansel and Cara's new friendship? When Hansel's ex-girlfriend shows up in town he is not happy to see her. She is obviously wanting to win him back but he isn't interested. What lengths will she go to in her attempt to keep him for herself?
This book has plenty of suspense and I am eagerly waiting for book four to find out what happens. I received an advance copy of this book and I am voluntarily offering this review.

Alek is finally getting used to Cara and Hansel becoming closer as friends. He’s starting to do better in school then a old girlfriend of Hansel shows up wanting his back! What is her tie to Hansel and what does he want? Will he go back to her or be with Cara? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

unfortunately, my review got deleted instead of posting! Aargh. So, here goes for a second try: Ooh! An ex always makes for a lot of tension and this book was no different in that regard. I'm a bit cross at Hansel. And, I can't wait for the next installment!

The other woman

I think all of these books could have been molded into one book. But the drama of the “Other Woman “ is playing in the story line quite nicely. Will Jessica get her man or dismayed Cara that she can’t have him.

Cute continuation of this story. I have liked this one the best so far. Can’t wait to read the rest of the story in the next two “mini” books! Hansel and Cara’s story continues with a new twist to it!

It’s bubbling like a soup, then leaves you wanting more. I just wish Hansel would get a back bone but I know that would probably ruin the story.👏😀. On to number 4 x

Part 3:

Just when you think things are going good, a typhoon rolls in. Jessica is Hansel's ex girlfriend and she is crazy.

Alek is serving his time in detention and improving. His mom and principal are good friends and life seems to be going well. Buried beneath the surface, a storm is brewing and who knows what will happen next.

This one ends rather ominously with Jessica making a promise no one ever should. You will definitely need to move to the next one or the suspense might just be too much.

Cara and Hansel decided to see each other as just friends in order to help Alek try to accept their friendship and not as a couple. Jennifer gives Hansel a hard time and she is the last one Hansel wants in his life. There are a lot of shuffles in this story. It is another great short story and I am really looking forward to the next book.
