A.J. Low is a husband-and-wife writing team!

Born in the San Joaquin Valley in California to Mexican immigrant parents, Adan Jimenez became an immigrant himself when he moved to Singapore after living in New York for almost a decade. He has worked for comic book stores, book stores, and gaming stores. And a hoagie sandwich shop once. He loves comics, LEGOs, books, games (analog and video), Doctor Who, sandwiches, and his wife, Felicia. Not necessarily in that order, though.

Felicia Low-Jimenez has worked in the book industry most of her adult life. She has bought books, sold books, marketed books, and now she is trying her hand at writing books. She loves to nap and eat chocolate, though not at the same time. She spends most of her free time reading and when she can afford it, she travels, usually to look for beautiful bookstores around the world. Most of all, she loves her husband, Adan (who insisted that she include this).

A wealthy collector who has been robbed has contacted The Wonderful Watson Online Detective Agency to track down the thief. Watson, Sam, and the rest of the Supper Club plus Officer Siva on his day off go check out the scene of the crime. To their surprise, the crime seems connected to the Pirates Inc. crime syndicate. Suddenly this case is much bigger than a little theft with a trail to an international organization both Interpol and many other agencies would love to finally catch.

I was thrilled to spot that there were new Sherlock Sam books at our local book store this past August. I hadn't heard there were any new ones, but there were several. This case sees the Supper Club working with both Interpol and Singapore police and following Pirate Inc's tracks to lesser known islands near or part of Singapore. I liked the location, and the mystery was well done with just enough clues readers can puzzle out some parts but kept guessing in other areas. This series started out feeling aimed at lower grades, but now it definitely feels more middle grade, though still aimed at the lower end of middle grade. Watson's sophisticated capabilities as a robot bump this over into scifi territory. Hand this to armchair sleuths and those who like Singapore settings.

Notes on content: No language issues. No sexual content. There are some perilous situations but everyone is ok.
