“You can never know what lies down the path until you fly it.”
The dark wizard Sorcier has returned. Wielding twisted versions of the eighteen magical runes, his army advances quickly across the land, hunting down all who support the deposed King.
Aiden is desperate to fight the rising darkness alongside the weakened Eagle Riders. When they forbid him from flying again, he and Iolair look for a different path. Tristan leads the Feather Guard, yet in the wake of Aiden’s decision, he is torn between following orders or helping his friends. Meanwhile, Branwyn, a simple baker’s daughter, contends for her place in a world of warriors and wizards.
As Soricer renews his strength, Aiden and friends race to reunite their people before it’s too late.

This was an amazing read, it is super gripping and I didn't want to put it down. I love the magic system and the world building in this book. I loved reading the different story lines and seeing the characters grown. It starts of fast passed and manages to keep that throughout the book, without anything feeling rushed.
Fantastic! Builds perfectly on the first book by diving deeper into the dense world of Teraan. We get to uncover more of it's mythology and meet many new characters and creatures, both friend and foe. However, it doesn't lose sight of it's central characters and their respective journeys and the addition of a new POV character is, for me, doing the strongest work here.
There's always a concern when there are different offshoots to the story that these, seemingly disparate threads, won't coalesce in a meaningful way. Thankfully no such concern by the end here as these different plots come together in a very satisfying conclusion.
Much like the first one, this book is EPIC! I couldn't put it down, and read it all super fast. I just couldn't put it down until I knew what was going to happen. I am so impatient for book 3 it's driving me mad(but in a good way :) I loved finding out loads of new stuff about the world, how the runes work, this was a great sequel :)
This book is magnificent. I’m so impressed by the twisting plot and the path Aiden takes. I’d read over 100 pages within the first 3 hours because the book was unputdownable. The book spirited me into the real realm of magic. I thought Aiden and Erin’s relationship was building towards a close spiritual bond. I am looking forward to seeing how Sorcier is defeated and if Aidan will take the path as an eagle rider....or not. I am very impressed with how well you described the 18 magical rooms and how much understanding of how wild magic is not able to be controlled by normal and the dangers it imposes. I’m so bamboozled that the king of Terran is still alive and how there’s new alliances against the Brathadair. I am astounded with the comprehensive use of runes and how you intertwine your knowledge with the personalities of the characters, bringing them to life on the page. Looking forward to the next book.
