The arrival of the Malor spacecraft proved, once and for all, that humanity is not alone in the universe... the path of destruction it left behind showed that aliens are not always friendly. Remaining on Earth, Sydney and Brian must now face the aftermath of the Malor invasion.
When a mysterious stranger shows up on Sydney’s doorstep in the middle of the night, she’s drawn into an urgent mystery: there has been a massive increase in alien abductions around the globe, despite the breakdown of Malor technology--and someone powerful is trying to keep it quiet. It falls to Sydney and Brian to figure out who's behind it all, and why. In the end, Sydney makes a shocking discovery that will forever alter the course of humanity’s destiny!
So this was a fun fast read. If you ever heard those UFO abduction stories from people and you are curious about why that stuff may be going on than this is the book for you. Yes, its fiction and all made up but I just wanted to see what kind of answers the author was able to come up with. Because I am unsure if the actual real abductions make sense (why? Why do they take people??) so one can hope that maybe one can get some kind of answers in a story.
So this book moves fast. Really fast. Lots of action in different parts of the country. Running, speeding cars, all of that exciting stuff. And UFOs! Plus there is a Man in Black. And in here he is a very scary guy (this Man in Black is no Will Smith in rays bans protecting us from aliens, if anything its the exact opposite!).
I feel this is part of a much larger story. That is evident from the ending.
Its been awhile since I read part one of this series yet before I got 25% through this one it all came back..
There are definitely some decent descriptions in here and the UFO itself is kind of puzzling. I have a few ideas about that but I will not put them here as I don't want to ruin the story for you.
The story is not deep but it tries to answer some big mysterious questions.
Great continuation to book 1. What makes it even better is that the storyline is built around people who stayed on Earth. It took me just a little while to figure out who was doing the abducting so the ending of this part did not surprise me. Overall another good book in the series.
Another page turning book in this series that keeps you glued until the end. But you should really have read book one to understand some of the events, but nevertheless, you are grabbed and tossed around with Sydney and her boss Bryan trying to find out who is abducting hundreds of people. It began when a stranger came to Sydney in the middle of the night informing her about what is happening she is drawn to discovering the truth. Could it be the aliens who destroyed Washington, the Malor aliens like some claimed? Could it have been the Othali aliens? It is up to Sydney and Brian to discover the truth. A warning, there is a LARGE cliff hanger at the end of this book so now we have to wait for the third book to see how everything turns out. I do suggest you read book one, The Secret of Giza so you have a smooth entrance into book two since it take some liberties as to people having read book one already before you read this one. That is the only draw back. Ken Warner is extremely good at his descriptions that keep you interested and turning pages. I really enjoy this series so far, but now I have to read book 3 to see how things advance. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Another good read! Again looking forward to reading the next book in the series!!!
Only 4 stars this time. There was less action this time, but the author kept the story moving right along with some interesting plot twists. As stated in the review of the first book, there was not much humor. I think the author needs to add more humor into his writing - but perhaps I am wrong about this. Again character development was very good. There was one new surprise character brought into the story at the end along with two major characters brought back. One minor gripe is the ending was a cliffhanger but that is okay. I will pick up the next book in the series and quickly resume the flow of the storyline.
Abducted (The Kwan Thrillers, Book 2), my seventh read from author Ken Warner. After reading his Scroll of the Five Masters, five book series I knew I was reading an epic in the making so I jumped at the chance to read and review another of his books. Starting out quickly and launching from there, if you haven't read the first book you'll probably feel a bit lost! No spoilers here, buy the book, read the book and leave a review. "I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Overall I enjoyed this book and it was a solid continuation. Word of caution this is book #2 and this series really needs to be read in order to understand.
One of my favorite things about this series is how easy it is to read and it keeps me turning the pages.
Besides the cliffhanger the only thing I didn’t like about this book was Sydney and Miguel. I first saw Miguel as an older man similar to the grandpa at the campsite from the first book. So their story feels a bit off lol.
This book was not done well like the other it drags quite a bit. Many circumstances seemed to be replay of former scenes but dressed differently. I'm going to try the next novel but if it drags like this I won't bother to finish it. Its ratings were definitely misleading.
It’s an ok book. Now that I’m on the second set of the series, it’s obvious that these books were written for young adults - pretty simplistic language and grammar. The idea is good, and the tale moves along well… a bit disappointing that this book finishes with a “to be continued…” but as they’re all available as a box set on kindle unlimited, that’s fine.
A good sci-fi thriller with plenty of action and a well written storyline. An enjoyable read that was a real page turner. The ending I thought was too much of a cliffhanger. Are the abductions being done by aliens or humans? Bring on the next Kwan thriller. Highly recommended.
While this is another story it is following the first book. I am Really enjoying enjoying it so far the only problem have is being required to buy another book to finish it and left hanging
This is a great series about alien abductions with really great characters that draw you in. I read the first z2 books without looking up almost Give it a try it pulls you in qui
The style of writing is very interesting. I don't think I could have held off starting to read book 2 after I finished the first one. What comes next will be even more interesting.
The author keeps you on the edge of your seat in book two.I loved the suspense waiting to see what around the next corner, a great lead into book three, great read.
After the first book I expected something different, but I'm not disappointed: it was exciting enough to make me want to read the next one. Some of the events in the novel were there solely for the reason to make it a bit longer.
It’s like reading an episode of X-Files, or Fringe. Once you start, you just can’t put it down. Alien abductions, the man in black, UFO’s, what more do you need. It’s getting exciting, and I can’t wait to read the next one.
It is a story that you can see happening to any of us!
I really enjoyed immensely the final part. Was terribly upset at the end where the guy in black appeared. I need the next book! Hopefully, the story will get us out of the tunnels. Don't like waiting??
I received a free copy of this book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
An exciting trip to the world of alien abduction. Sydney Hastings witnesses a devastating attack on her world from the spaceship of alien beings, the Othali, as another alien race fired upon Washington, D.C. killing thousands upon thousands of people. The question of living creatures out in space has been answered once and for all with devastating results. In the aftermath of this attack hundreds of people are being abducted. Who is taking them, where are they being taken and why are some of the questions Sydney must try to answer.
Along with her boss and some extraordinary people, she sets out to find the answer and put a stop to these abductions. Abductees claim it is the Malor aliens, the very ones who destroyed Washington, that are responsible. But that doesn’t sit well with Sydney. Why would victors, who have since fled the planet, come back or remain behind just to abduct more humans. It just doesn’t make sense to Sydney and her boss.
Thus, begins one of the best alien abduction stories I have read in a long time. The author has created a world of questions filled with great characters, well defined worlds and wonderful descriptions. If you are into science fiction, you will love this book, the second of a three part series. If you are not into science fiction, this is the one that will drag you in.
I highly recommend this book to one and all. Jump in, or better yet, get the first book and join the fun.
Excellent book full of adventure and intrigue. I liked the story line and the characters. I really enjoyed this book and series and I highly recommend it.
