Ripped apart limb from limb, shattered bones, hearts caving in. The past is never forgotten.
Dismembered body parts appear at random locations in London. Detailed analysis confirms that the parts all belong to one person.
Then an elderly victim is brutally slain in a manner which suggests the killer did little to hide their crime.
Detective Inspector Karen Heath searches the victim’s past to find the answers, which exposes a series of tragic consequences, a brutal regime and a trail of broken minds and bodies.
Closer to home, Karen’s own search for the truth behind the hijacking takes a dramatic twist when new evidence comes to light. Who else was involved, and who can she trust? She has one choice… trust her instinct and go it alone, which leads to a fatal conclusion.
Crime Never Pays… Well yes and no depending on what side of the fence you’re on!
I’ve always had a strong passion for whodunnits, crime series, and books. The more I immersed myself in it, the stronger the fascination grew.
In my spare time, you’ll find me in the gym, reading, binge watching Netflix or taking walks in the forest.
Oh, and I’m an avid people watcher, I just love to watch people, their mannerisms, and their way of expressing their thoughts… weird I know, but I could spend hours doing that. It's funny, because watching people often gives me insights and inspiration for describing human interaction in my books.
Fun fact: My favourite, bestest place ever on earth? Any of the Florida theme parks and the mad coasters out there. Add the food, shopping and weather, and you've got the best place on earth... especially when I see the joy on the faces of my family when we're out there :)
Weird fact: Spending an afternoon in a mortuary to bring my books to life. Oops! poor choice of words there :)
DI Karen Heath is still haunted by the hijacking that ruined her life, as she knew it. Two fellow officers were killed, she was demoted and still felt the sideways glances of colleagues who blamed her. She knew she had behaved correctly, transferring a key witness, someone had leaked information to those who had attacked them. Knowledge of the transfer had been limited on a need to know basis, so someone in MIT had been the mole. Too many raids were not getting results, witnesses developed amnesia - too scared to confirm details they had willingly given at the time of incidents. Now reports had been deleted, it seemed as if someone was deliberately wiping all evidence of the event. Karen had been told not to have anything to do with the case, as she was a participant. But she had persisted and had been warned by her boss to stop - all her work was being flagged up to him. Her daily workload was heavy enough, dismembered body parts were turning up and they had yet to identify the victim. An excellent read, the two main threads of the current case and the hijacking have Karen and the team at full pelt trying to find out who the elderly woman was, and Karen trying to find the mole who wrecked her life, the nightmares still haunting her.A The conclusion is riveting, yet leaves a loose thread for future weaving!
In this, the fourth book in the series about DI Karen Heath, she and her team are called in to investigate two particularly gruesome murders which turn out to be linked by events in the past. Along with dealing with the gruesome discoveries (excellently written as always, all too real!); Karen is also confronted with the memories of the vicious hijack in which she lost two colleagues and was herself seriously injured. All her attempts to find out more about this are being blocked from on high and vital evidence is disappearing from the police computer. Jay really does know how to hold the readers attention and his characters and the action are all highly believable. This is an honest review of an advanced reader copy which I received from the author and is my own opinion.
Yet another cracking read from the very untalented Jay Nadal. Karen and her team are up against it when the discovery of limbs are discovered by a local homeless guy before more body parts are located before they can identify the victim. Another body is found hidden in the London sewers tying the two murders to an old Children's home. With the team working relentlessly to track down the killer, Karen is still investigating the hijacking case desperate to seek justice. Terrific ending (although a review partly spoilt it for me regarding a character's death!) Keep 'em coming please Jay. BP Sheffield x
I had read the first 3 books in a crime series featuring the author. I was hooked by these and with an on going story line running through these books, I had to see what happens. So, with a dismembered body turning up, this starts the ball rolling for Karen and the team. Whilst have to investigate this crime, Karen is getting closer to the truth in her failure at the hijacking scene. Another good story drawing you into Karen and her life. It certainly is not all roses!!
Dismembered body parts wash up leading DI Heath and her team down an ugly memory lane to determine the who and why of the murders. The story line of a criminal cartel and the corrupt public officials who grease their way cones to a conclusion.
The weakness of this book is that the victims are all bad people. Hard to work up too much sympathy. The story is not especially exciting with much focus on food and driving. Not terrible but not suspenseful either.
DI Karen Heath does what she does best in the latest addition to the series of the same name. She solves the mystery. I was thoroughly involved in the storyline from the first to last page. There’s plenty of action and mystery in this storyline. I recommend this series if you like a strong, capable heroine. This review is based on a complimentary pre-release copy from the author
This is the best in the series so far! I thought the last one was, but they just keep getting better and better! And Jay Nadal is now officially on my list of top British authors! This was a two plot storyline, and both of them were intense and compelling! I fell asleep last night with my kindle, and had it in my hands again once I made coffee! Yes, there is gore and violence, but it truly makes the book better. And its not the worst I have read by any means! Don't take my word for it, read this fantastic series!
At last the bad ones have been outed. Unless of course the super investigating Skelton's murder is in the pocket of the Connells??!! Can't wait for the next installment!
Another great one. Another fantastic series. I love them all. Entertaining, fast moving, easy to read some in one day if you want. Can’t wait till new ones come out. I am a big fan of Jay Nadal ‘s series. Great work 👍💕
Another masterpiece from Jay Nadal clearly demonstrating the never say due attitude of DO Karen Heath. As usual with me reading Jay Nadal books it was completed in less than 2 days.
Congratulations Jay on yet another brilliantly written book which once I started reading it I could not put it down. Sorry for the late review I was busy working my way through this brilliant crime series 😊📖
DI Karen Heath in book 4 of the series has finally come into her own. There is still I feel unnecessary horror but at least I felt Karen Heath was a much more rounded character.
Looking forward to the next book, this one was exciting and frightening at the same time. Corrupt police officers seem to be a popular subject with crime writers.
