What happens when a flammable torch is thrown into a highly volatile situation?
Welcome to Txema Ybarra's continued misadventure. In this third installment, the world's last civilized vampire kingdom brings Txema and her infant daughter, Alaia, to the remote Tien Shan Mountains of Kazakhstan. Seeking refuge and a lasting deterrent against Ralu and Huangtian Dadi's dragon assassins, Racco and Gustav plan to recreate ancient amulets to protect mother and daughter from attack.
Based on the only formula that can effectively kill any vampire, this one-of-a-kind protection currently belongs to just one person. Marissa St. Germaine, Txema's beautiful half-human/half-immortal cousin, and the offspring of Chanson and Racco.
At first glance, the prospect of cloning the amulet sounds easy enough. Except, Marissa-who is nearly the image physically of both Chanson and Txema-is in no mood to be so charitable. Held as a prisoner against her will for nearly three hundred years, she is anxious for freedom. Freedom from the fortress she's been sheltered within, freedom from her protected blood status, and especially freedom from her estranged father, Racco.
The stakes have never been higher for Txema, and the race is on to heal ancient familial wounds between daughter and father. However, time is running out. Ralu and Huangtian Dadi are closing in on this latest stronghold. In the end, Txema, or someone very dear to her must make the ultimate sacrifice.... A sacrifice that is necessary for Les Amantes de Vampire's sacred bloodline to survive.

Book 3 of the Dying of the Dark series is an amazing thrill ride that will keep you reading late into the night. The writing team of Aiden James and Patrick Burdine is seamless and a pleasure to read. The story has Txema and her infant daughter, Alaia, arriving in Kazakhstan, at an ancient fortress where the daughter of Racco and Chanson has been sequestered for many years. But with Ralu and Huangtian Dadi teamed up and searching for them and their vampire protectors, things don't go as planned. The action in this 3rd book is intense, yet we also have moments where we gain insight into the relationships of all involved. I love the interaction between the characters and hope we get to read more soon!
This is a wonderful exciting adventure that keeps you engaged in the story and wanting more at each turn of the page. The incredibly detailed writing style of Aiden drops you right into the story as if you were right there with the characters, feeling and seeing what the characters were feeling and seeing. I could feel the suspense and drama unfold inside me as well as on the written pages as I spent an amazing rollercoaster ride. This is definitely a MUST READ... : )) Another cliffhanger at the end. : )
not a bad ending, by the time I got to this book I had gotten well used to the style and while not a style I have enjoyed greatly in the past I did enjoy this book and where it took the story to.
Overall the concepts in the book are nicely developed and create an interesting universe for the story to unfold in.
This series absolutely keeps me intrigued! I was hooked after the first two books and was thrilled to discover that book three was available on Audible. I love the saga of the different Vampire factions and how they try to earn dominance. The characters in this story are so good and the settings are descriptive and exotic. I am ready for book four now!!
