Yes, I read it for the trashy pwp joy, but I almost gave it only 2 stars for the incorrect word usage. Somebody *really* needs an editor or at the very least a decent proofreader. Will this keep me from reading the next book in the series? Honestly...no, it won't. BUT I'll have lower expectations going in.

He’s safe at the BDSM club, no one can touch him without permission. Jamie is just eighteen and works hard. Already done that for years at his father’s bar before he got thrown out because he’s gay.
Malcolm is one of the owners and understands at first sight Jamie is submissive. He has an interest in Jamie.
Malcolm takes him home and after Jamie gets his puppy gear on they both know this is it.
Malcolm can only hope Jamie is in for the long haul. Jamie? Jamie is floating.

When it’s a stand-alone in a series I’m not satisfied at all. For my pleasure the story is underdeveloped.
When this is the first of a series and Jamie and Malcolm their relationship will be more developed, I’m in and satisfied for now.
This narrative has potential, but it’s not there yet. I liked the little pieces with hurt/comfort. I love stories with BDSM and I do hope there will be more with both men.

Sorry but no...
Typos & cookie-cutter MC's. Tired trope and constant inner monologues & nerve-racking repetitions. 67 pages but 12 chapters! This "book" was not edited, not proofread and not re-read.
The sex scenes are the tolerable parts. 8/20

Tl; dr it's fine

This book is fine. That's it. Everyone go home. It's not exceptionable anywhere nor offensively bad. It's just fine.

This is your standard billionaire dom saves poor (but so pretty) newbie sub. If you've read any amount of kinky romances, you've come across this plot a thousand times. I'm not critiquing that choice. That trope is popular for a reason. But the lengths this book goes to not stand out is impressive. There were a few moments that could have been different and interesting but they never felt fully realized. It is SSC RACK, which I expect from an author who is in the lifestyle and and a dom themselves. There are no consent violations or questionable actions from anyone. The puppy play and little stuff is also pretty cute, and the bi rep is nice. If that sounds like your jam, this is a safe short read.

However, just because a book is fine, doesn't mean it can't catch these hands.

For starters, this book is boring. And that is saying something coming from me because I'm a character-driven reader. A lot of my favorite books are considered boring. But when a book is this formulaic, this standard, this status quo...why and for what reason? This is an author in the lifestyle. You can't tell me this is the most she's seen or heard. Real life can be great inspiration. Change the names, no one has to know.

I don't want to come after this author's writing style but it's really hard to talk about my issues with this book without bringing it up. It reads first draft is the final and best draft. It's flat, there is no flow, and it is super repetitive. Why are we being told that Malcolm is stupid rich twice in the same paragraph. Five times (yes I counted) it is stated that Jamie is from a resort town. I promise you, once is sufficient. From what I can tell, there was no editor here. Had a copy editor gone in and taken out those repetitive moments, this book would have gone down to about 60 pages. That's not good. I'm not going to say what it is because that be mean and I don't want karma to come for me, but it's not good.

Now even though this book was super repetitive, there was no consistency with the characters. How is Jamie an open book yet Malcolm can't read him? Malcolm is described as cruel and sadistic yet we only ever see him firm at best. I'm not saying say this can't be sweethearts but you got to give me something. That shower scene, which I did enjoy, hardly makes the cut. I think this book was going for a not too hot, not too cold type of deal but it didn't work. These characters were two-dimensional cardboard cutouts. They were colored in. But it was done with a 12 pack of Crayola markers so choices were limited.

Overall, there is nothing wrong with this book. If you're new to kinky books, you might even like it. I've just read too much and with the market as saturated as it is, my standards are pretty high. Unfair, I know but it is what it is. 3.5 stars because I don't feel like my time was completely wasted, but I'm not going to remember much of anything after I post this review.

DNF. Not the writing style for me. Every pov swap acted like the reader had been gone for a month and had to be brought into the characters and story again. Way too much repetitive exposition. Needs an editor and copyeditor.

Excellent start to o new series!

Loved this book! I initially read the first half as a promotional novella and I was happy to see the story continued in the full length novel as I wanted to know what happened the morning after Jamie and Malcolm’s first scene together. I was not disappointed! I’m very much looking forward to the next book in the series.

Ok but needed more

So, I liked the storyline to an extent but the way the story plays out is not very cohesive. I was not a fan of how many times it was mentioned that Malcolm, MC1, is rich. Like, billionaire rich and successful and good looking. I got it after the first time. The following times just make him sound even more conceited. He's so sure of his superiority in money and as a Dom that I found him rather unlikable. Jamie comes off as very sweet and innocent but then there will be comments about his past sexual experiences that are sort of counter to that image. Jamie also suffers from a form of PTSD, as a result of his crappy childhood, but it's never openly discussed by the MC's and that bothers me. It's kind of like the bare bones of a storyline, with the major points highlighted, but none of the supporting information. The ending is completely rushed and left me wondering what happened from point A to The End. I think it could be a decent story if given the time it needs to really bloom but I feel like the author just wanted to get something out there and hurriedly rushed through this. I'm glad it was on KU because I honestly wouldn't have paid for this and I probably won't read any of the other books in the series. It was just all round disappointing.

Repetitive

DNF. One chapter was enough. The MCs just repeated the same thing over and over again.

While my review may not make you want to chuck your phones (or ipads) out the window, which was the effect this particular book had on me, the rant is quite brutal at times.

🐕Puppy Gets A Master by Amarra Skye

⚠️My rating: 1 are-you-shitting-me stars ⭐

I read this in a BR with the lovely Jayne from Lady J's Pawsome Books .

Because it's supposed to be hot MM with kink and that cover is fire! I mean.. just look at that man candy!! Can you blame a girl for drooling a bit?😅

Well, it was hot all right. Of the 'piss off the reader to raise up her bloodpressure' kind.
But I'm not bitching.❌ I'll try not to. I'll just put a lid on it and try to stick to the facts. Let the tale speak for itself. And I'll just complement it with my reactions.

The premise is great. An 18 year old teenager thrown out by his dad for being gay, gives in to his desires and finds the love and protection only a Master can provide.

The execution on the other hand... You can decide for yourselves from the examples below.

In chapter 1 we meet Jamie, whose dad kicked him out with only 50 bucks to his name. And on page 2 we find out 'as of two weeks ago' he isn't living in his car anymore and has found a decent job.
Then on page 3 our Jamie says:
'No matter how much of a fuck-up dad was, I've always paid the light bill and water bill so dad and I could at least always shower and be warm.'

I may not be the only one who backtracked here to check when the heck did he actually pay those bills? While he was living in his car?
Or maybe I missed something and that was while Jamie was working at his dad's bar? But then why AT LEAST shower and be warm? Was the bar doing bad? Didn't they have enough money? 🤔

No explanation found, I move on. To page 4 where Jamie says:
'In my entire life, as a straight-A student who took part in many clubs and played on sports teams, I could never make my dad proud no matter what I did.'
But the boy had been working at the bar from the time he was 12. And practically ran it too.

Then how the heck was he able to be a straight-A student, be part of clubs and sports teams too and manage it all just great? There are only 24 hours in a day and he'd also have to sleep some!

Mystery left unsolved, let's move on to page 4, when Jamie says:

'On my first night bartending at the Phoenix, one of the owners came in to check the club.' We pass over a couple of greasy descriptions of the guy's hair that apparently gives Jamie a solid insight into the guy's personality. Then we move on to chapter 2 when our boy tells us: 'The first couple of nights were slow.' Over the past couple of weeks he learned stuff and 'tonight' is the first time he met any of the owners.

And I'm like WTF?! Didn't you just see the guy on your first night? Now it's not first night? It's after a few weeks?
And Malcom's POV didn't help either. The greasy haired guy that is.
Because Malcom sees Jamie for the first time that night, when he first got hired. Only it's been already a few weeks since then.
And honest to goodness by this time I was already muttering: 'Am I reading the same fucking story or is it another?'

It was the same story. Confusing as fuck, because the author apparently didn't bother to check what they wrote a few pages back. All throughout the whole 90 something pages of this book.
And with all the above I'm just scratching the surface of this downright shitty read.

The lack of research is mind-boggling; the 18 year old young man who was supposedly a straight A student and did so many extra things including taking care of his dad's bar from the time he was 12, speaks like a 13 year old ALL THE TIME. Except while he is his master's puppy and his replies are limited to 'ARF. ARF. ARF.'
I'll zip it on this particular detail before I blow a gasket but WTF!!!

There are a couple of very disgusting innuendos here and there, repetitions galore and inconsistencies enough to make you want to bang your head on the desk.

I literally set the iPad down and counted to ten to cool down before picking it up again to continue reading. With a pep talk of course: 'It's a buddy read. You have to keep reading. Just a bit more till the end.'

Speaking of which, that end was the cherry on top of the rotten cake of fuckups.

Apparently, the perfect HEA for a young pup who wanted to be petted and praised and treated with the gentleness and care of a good Master who takes great care of his pet.
And it goes like this:

“I love you Jamie,” Daddy says kissing me as he fucks my ass with his fist hitting my prostate with every thrust as I whimper and moan as I come for the second time.

“I love you too, Daddy!”

THE END

That's first class love and protection there! 👌

And now you'll have to excuse me while my inner Dean Winchester breaks loose with a pissed off:

'All shades of fucked up is what this is!'

I have no idea where to start with this, so I guess I’ll have to dive right on in. Hold your teddies, because this is going to get messy. This book was a buddy read with Laura at Magic Book Corner, and is Book One of the Billionaire Doms of Crash series. The two POV’s in the first person and written in present tense.

I don’t have a lot to say about Malcolm and Jamie, because we’re not told much, other than Jamie is young but legal (18) and has been kicked out of his home by his dad, who is an alcoholic. Dad runs Steal (or is it Steel? There were two different spellings so who the hell knows,) but Jamie leaves and finds a job at The Phoenix, the hottest kink club in Colorado. It’s so hot, it costs $2000 a year to join, so that the riff-raff can’t slip in and blackmail the Phoenix’s super-rich clientele.

Newsflash: Honey, I spend more than that per annum on takeout coffee. A couple more noughts would have been more realistic, considering Malcolm is, like, so wealthy.

I’ll get this out the way. The repetition, the lack of any kind of editing or even proofreading, even the formatting, is just … horrible. It reads like a first draft, with the characters sketched out at best. All I gleaned about Malcolm was that he was, like, a billionaire with a big cock and greasy hair.

His hair is long enough you can run your fingers through if you can catch him before he puts a gallon of gel in it. Everyone needs hair product, but this guy makes sure no strand is out of place.

Ooookay, then. There were other issues too. “Heal, puppy!” was unintentionally hilarious, as if Malc was Jesus, curing the sick. And ick phrases like, “I’m about to come in my pants like a fucking twelve-year-old.” Yikes.

Also this, which I had no idea was even possible.

I have to suppress a grin when the puppy blushes from his cheeks to his nipples.

I didn’t bother suppressing a snort at that point. Then there was the pee play, and the sudden segue into Daddy/Little kink, with mention of onesies and sippy cups and diapers. Woah! Hold on a minute. First Jamie was feeling all happy in his puppy paws and wiggly butt plug tail, but now he’s a Little? That wasn’t mentioned in the blurb. Not to yuk anyone’s yum but the Little thing makes me really uncomfortable and I would have appreciated a heads up.

There were a lot of things missing in this book, as well as lack of good editing and proofreading. The characters were so one dimensional, I didn’t get to know any of them, which was a real shame. There was too much tell and not much show, and the tell was perfunctory at best. Jamie talked like a fourteen year old and his conversations with Malcom were limited mainly to “Arf arf!” when he was in pup space.

And what the fuck was this about?!?!?!

I feed him simple things first, fruits by themselves and then I start with the cheeses and offer the boy one of the fig and goat cheese things, finally pairing a piece of cantaloupe with a slice of prosciutto.

Okay, call me picky if you want, but if you’re a billionaire CEO businessperson, with a top-flight kink club and Bentleys and all that good shit, you’re going to use words like canapés, hor d’oeuvres, possibly morsels if you’re not that fancy. Not things. And melon and prosciutto is not the height of sophistication for a man with, by his own admission, “expensive tastes.” Try Iranian Almas white caviar, or Beluga, on blinis made from yak’s milk. I don’t know, I just wish more care had been taken to research what billionaires eat. Melon and ham sounds like a nice starter at a bog-standard Italian restaurant in my local town.

Sorry, it’s a small thing but it’s indicative of the care that wasn’t given when setting scenes and rounding out the characters. It’s lazy and smacks of being bashed out and published quickly. Dare I say it, this is why people are wary of trying books by indie authors.

Ditto the mention of being a PA. A billionaire would have a housekeeper, valet, chauffeur, personal chef. A PA would never cook. They’re a high status individual who has almost the same perks as the boss. Again, some research would have been good.

Oh, and I’ll leave you with this gem…

“I love you Jamie,” Daddy says kissing me as his fucks my ass with his fist hitting my prostate with every thrust as I whimper and moan as I come for the second time.

“I love you too, Daddy!”

Aw, who says romance is dead?

I could go on, but I just want to yeet my e-reader out the window, to be honest. Other than the cover, which is great, I thought this book was a real dog. Arf Arf…

I liked Puppy Gets a Master by Ammara Skye. It looks like this is the author's debut book. It's also the first book in the Billionaire Doms of Crash. I did like this book, although I found it repetitive. We are told multiple times that Malcolm is wealthy, a great Dom, owns a company with others, owns the kinky club, and is unusually attracted to Jamie in a way that is not normal for him. On the other hand, we are told multiple times that Jamie never got praise from his father, had a dysfunctional family, grew up too fast, worked at his father's bar, had low self-esteem, and had no BDSM experience, and was unusually attracted to Malcolm. Except for the epilogue, the entire book takes place in about a 24 hour period of time. It has an instant love/ instant lust theme and explores puppy play with an inexperienced sub and an experienced Dom/Daddy. The book could benefit from a great editor or proofreader to help point out the repetition in the story and fix the other grammar mistakes. If you can overlook all of that, then I recommend giving it a try. I thought the book had great potential to be a great story. It will be great to watch this author grow and become a wonderful storyteller.

I found this book wanting to try a ddlb kinky book after reading one previous book (Love Lessons, Reese Morrison) that had some ageplay in it. And oh boy was I not prepared to realize I'm into this.

So I tried this book to explore my own kinks more and it was a journey. The first few pages I was really doubting this was for me. Don't get me wrong the book wasn't doing anything bad, I myself was just a bit conflicted. Then when the main character and love interest meet, oh did that do things to me. And honestly that is one of the reasons why I like reading erotica so much. It creates a safe space to try out new kinks without committing to anything or opening yourself up. When I would read something not for me all I have to do is put down the book. But when like this it ends up being something I'm completely in to it is such a great way to explore.

I do have to say I would have enjoyed a bit more smutty scenes in this book. Not that I particularly wanted less plot, because I really loved the non sexy bits too. I was just sad when the book was over and I wouldn't get more hot moments between the couple.

The sex scenes though were both really great. It was great to see both characters loose control so much because they were into what they were doing. I really enjoyed the dynamic of the main character being new to the kinky world and how that showed in the sex they had together, it was very loving.

All together I definitely want to pick up more books in this series and continue to enjoy myself with them.

I was sent a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Jamie is a young bartender in The Phoenix Club - a prestigious BDSM establishment where he catches the eye of Malcolm, one of the owners. In Jamie Malcolm sees an elegant young man who shows a desire to be a submissive. After an evening of Jamie serving Malcolm he is asked if he would like to come back to Malcolm's house to "play". Jamie accepts the offer and therefore opens the door to some experiences he never dreamed of or could ever have thought would or could happen to him. In Malcolm he finds a father figure he has been starving for all his life and Malcolm finds a young man he can care for and nurture.
The story was so emotionally touching, the care Malcolm shows to Jamie and the way the relationship is built with Malcolm always giving Jamie the choice after carefully explaining each scenario to him. I was blown away with the way this story was written and being the first book I've read of Amarra's, I will be eagerly looking for more books by this author. She's up near the top of my favorite authors list.
Extremely high recommendation.

Jamie is 18 years old and gay. His mother abandoned him as a toddler to his drunk father. Jamie has been taking care of his dad and his bar from a young age. Then his dad finds out about his son's sexual preferences and kicks him out. Jamie had to move to the city and live in his car until he got a job as a bartender at a kink club. Jamie is both fascinated and repelled by some of the things he sees. He is especially curious about pet or puppy play. He really wants someone to notice him and praise him. Then he meets one of the club's co-owners, Malcolm. He really wants to be Malcolm's puppy.

Malcolm is an older man who wants a full time submissive. He wants a puppy to care for and guide but he hasn't found anyone that attracted him in the last 10 years. One night he goes to the club and sees their new bartender Jamie. He is instantly drawn to Jamie and wants to introduce him to different kinds of kink play. To him, it is obvious that Jamie is interested in puppy play. Malcolm knows he should introduce Jamie to many parts of the lifestyle but he just wants to keep Jamie to himself.

**First Time Reader** When I read the blurb for this story I thought it would be an interesting read...a young man coming into his own concerning his kinks...meets an older rich man that's willing to help him explore his newfound kinks. Well I really was up and down with this. I enjoyed the "play" time Jamie had with Malcolm. Jamie had all my sympathy because he really was a young man who just looking for guidance and care...he had crappy parents. When meeting Malcolm tho...hmmmm...It took me a bit to warm up to Malcolm...I thought he was all kinds of wrong for Jamie, but he proved me wrong towards the end. I like that it was dual POV but thoughts were sometimes redundant and scattered. The ending was kind of abrupt but I can see that the guys had a HEA well at least a HFN. All in all I'm glad I took a chance and gave it a shot, it was interesting and entertaining.

Malcolm is the CEO of tech company Crash and is also a Dom at Denver's most exclusive kink club. He hasn't had a sub of his own for years but is drawn to the new bartender who is very eager to please. Jamie was new to town and searching for a good-paying job when he finds himself working at a kink club. But when Malcolm says "Good boy" to Jamie a whole new world opens up to him and he gets the chance to explore and realise that he is actually a puppy - the right puppy for Malcolm.

I loved this novella which explored how Malcolm and Jamie were right for each other and that they were perfect together. It was lovely to see how freeing Jamie found it to be a puppy and to let his Master Malcolm take care of him and everything around him. This book contains MM sexual content which includes BDSM puppy/master scenarios.

This book is a fun short read about a Daddy Dom with lots of money who wants someone to spoil and a Puppy/boy who has had a very lonely upbringing. It’s instant love and pretty quickly into play and a relationship but one of the things that I really liked is how the author emphasizes the inner thoughts of both main characters so you really understand the attempts made by both of them, particularly the Dom, Malcolm, to make sure that things stay Safe, Sane and Consensual. The only complaint I have is that it’s too short I really enjoyed these two characters and wanted to read more about them.

Could have been better

While I really liked Jamie and Malcom together, I felt like there were some pacing issue the book. I feel like some important steps were skipped, like the talk Jamie and Malcom had about daddy play versus puppy play. I also felt like there were times when the same sentence was repeated, just in a slightly different way. Maybe an extra proofread would have fixes those issues.

With that being said, Malcom was a very confident Dom and had no trouble taking an insecure Jamie in hand. There was a definite steam factor here that went well with the story. All in all, a pretty quick and sexy read.

DNF

I love me so puppy play and it started out pretty good but all of a sudden it was like someone jerked the wheel and we were headed down Daddy/Boy/Little Lane?!?!? Like, wtf? Why? I don't understand it? I'm aware people can have more then one kink but this was so far out in left field I was put off big time.
My only other thing was the writing, it seemed a little stilted and didn't flow that great. It was kind of hard to read and sometimes I'd have to reread parts multiple times before I got what the author was saying. Or other parts where the author seemed to skip ahead and leave out what would seem like minimal things but would make the story flow so much smoother.

Fast But Good

I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author. The book is no angst with insta love, age gap, puppy play, DDlb and a whole lot of kink. Malcolm is a billionaire Dom who owns a tech company and a BDSM club with his friends. He meets his newest employee, Jamie, a bar back and feels an attraction he hasn't felt in years. One night of play leads to Jamie never leaving and them exploring Jamie's new found desire to be both a puppy and a little. Well written that it felt like the book was longer to me. Excited to continue series. I would recommend this book.

Not a difficult read but it is uncomfortable due to clunky writing which often has a childlike quality to it, although I'm not talking about in relation to age play narration. It's as if sometimes the writing has been poorly translated from another language and not properly proofed prior to publication. It's really unfortunate, because with some minor beta reading/editing I'm sure these could be great books.

I'm really sorry AS, the story is basic and could use some work but is also let down by the quality of the finish.

I’m not sure how this ended up on my kindle but I rather wish it hadn’t. It’s not my normal kink but even aside from that it’s written more as a ham-fisted fantasy than actual story. The characters may as well be ken dolls some perv is knocking together for all the depth and believability they have. Given that one character is 18 and new to the scene it would have been nice to get an idea of what drew them to something as structured and niche as puppy play beyond the fact that their dad didn’t praise them enough. Maybe if I was already really into this scene the story would’ve worked for me. Although possibly not, it’s also pretty dull.

I enjoyed this story more than I expected I would. I have never read about puppy play before, but the topic was handled in a way that was interesting to read about without feeling that the puppy was being mistreated. I liked the two characters and their relationship dynamics with each appreciating and respecting the other regardless of who was the Dom and who was the sub. There were a few words missing letters, but otherwise, the writing was pretty good, a bit steamy, and easy to read.

Needs some reworking

I like the idea of this story but it didn't come together quite well enough. Firstly, it needs another round of editing. Secondly, there is constant repetition. Thirdly, the pacing is all wrong. 80 percent or so of the book take place over one night and the following day. The last chapter takes place 3 months later. So many opportunities are lost to actually show us how the relationship develops instead of just telling us. I will at least give the next book a try to see if it is an improvement on this one or not.

Almost two different stories

This one confused me. Malcolm is a bit of an entitled prick at the beginning who seems to see pups as toys for him to play with even though he professes his desire for something permanent. Then half way through we get to see a different Malcolm who understands the aftercare involved in a D/s relationship. This shift in personality was hard for me to integrate into one character. A good story overall but one that kept me just on the edge of fully accepting it.

I was looking forward to reading this story (thought not so much a story, more of an introduction as the MCs barely said for than 1 sentence to each other) and exploring more puppy kink in the BDSM world. I was highly disappointed 😔.

This was a start to a story but barely went any where for me to leave any form of feedback. I was hoping their story continued into the next book within the series but it doesn’t.

I only gave this a 2 ⭐️ because it had promise. Not even good enough for me to continue with the series. Shame, had potential.
