About Monique

Growing up in New York City, I used to walk the hot pavements in the melting heat of the long summers, and dream. Uptown to downtown, eastside to the westside, and underground to catch a subway racing out into the boroughs.

During my wanderings, my magic pencil spun out fantasies full of romance, with first meetings, heartbreaks, and reunions. Sometimes my boy crush (unrequited, of course) starred as the hero.

I grew up, and after a stint in art school, became a lawyer ‘cuz a woman’s got to make a living. I came from parents who fled to France as refugees, and as an attorney, I dedicated my work to helping survivors of trauma and persecution.

I believe in them. In their grit, in their determination to hold on, to pull through and, somehow, someway, to keep themselves intact, body and soul.

Perhaps that is why I am drawn to writing stories of men and women who live through heart-rending pain, desperate yearnings and, ultimately, reach a place of redemption.

For a long time, I fought the urge to veer off the expected, safe path until I couldn’t go on unless I took a chance and made a change. I began to write, stopped, and began again. Finally, I gave in and here I am.
Come join me on my journey…

This is another thrilling installment of the series!! Loki is down on himself because he blames his self for his brother’s death so in-turn he is sworn off anything that brings him pleasure (women, club parties, etc.). But he doesn’t count on is Abby taking a self-defense class he is instructing at the gym he works in. She makes him a deal he can’t refuse no matter how hard he tries. The deal- he can have her anyway he wants to as long as he opens up about his life and get it off his chest because she can see it is burdening him and making him a recluse. What he doesn’t bargain for as the people that come after her to get at him. Will he be able to protect Abby?

Forgive Yourself

That is exactly what Loki needs to do if he wants any chance at freeing himself from the torture he has been putting himself through since his brother's death. He won't allow himself to feel anything good; no women, no partying and no peace of mind which for a biker is thought to be impossible. All it takes is one feisty little social worker to bring him to his knees no matter how much he fought it.

After losing her mom at such a young age Abby wanted nothing more than to help people so when she brought her charges into Loki's gym for self defense classes that's when she knew that this grumpy man was someone she really wanted to get "acquainted" with.

There was heartache, perseverance and chemistry that was of the charts in this book as well as watching a man trying to keep his woman safe from the club's enemies. This is the first book I've read in this series and it has me wanting to go back and check out some of the other brothers' stories.

I'm not really sure how to say what I want to say about this book. Quite honestly, I am feeling very conflicted over it. Some parts of this book I really liked but there was one big thing that REALLY did bother me and that right there is the rub. Mostly, I thought this was an entertaining read. It was exciting, emotional and filled with tension. This is my elective, frank review.

Loki’s Luck is book three in the Demon Squad MC series by new author to me, Monique Moreau. The book is insanely hot and focuses on the characters Loki and Abby. Loki is still reeling from the death of his brother and does nothing but blame himself for not noticing how bad his brother was doing. To get through the day, he is pretty regimented, from what he eats, drinks and says etc. Owning and working in the gym seems to be his only outlet, that is until Social Worker Abby storms into his life and turns it upside down.

Abby has had her own tragedies in life after losing her mother at such a young age and all she wants to do is help people. When part of her job takes her into Loki’s gym and due to her clientele becoming part of a self defence class, she is instantly attracted to the gruff yet handsome man who does nothing to endear himself to Abby.

The story focuses not only on the love development and both character’s getting to know one another but also on Loki himself and what he needs to give up in order to live a full life. The story focuses heavily on Loki pushing Abby away and it was great to see that she gave as good as she got. There were some genuine moments of heartbreak in the story (no spoilers), especially when it is the MC’s enemies that end up hurting Abby. But we see the MC pull together and Abby becomes one of their own!

I loved everything about this read! From the main characters, their flaws, jokes, sweet times and understanding of one another (even though Loki is certainly stubborn), to the smoking hot sexy scenes between the two. I loved the other characters that pop up and even though this is a first time read from this author for me, I know that it isn’t going to be my last. This MC book is a page turner and has everything you want in an MC read, from actions to passion, snarkiness to a brotherhood, it is all in the pages of this book.

I can’t recommend it highly enough! This is definitely an author I will be reading more of!

A gut wrenchingly real depiction of a soul left behind. With book three in her Demon Squad MC series Monique Moreau delighted this reader with a spot-on rendition of grief. If you’ve been following along with the series, we all knew Loki’s story was going to rip our hearts out piece by piece ... but what we didn’t know was the beautiful awakening that would come afterwards. I’ve been watching this author’s voice grow stronger with each book in the series, and with Loki, pure perfection spewed out. I’m so looking forward to seeing what’s coming next in the series! * Note: Must be okay with dom/sub relations to enjoy *

Loki is a complex character in this series. He has done some lowdown things that might make a reader think he’s a jerk, but as we get to know his inner workings and how he feels about the loss he’s suffered, we understand that he’s not exactly intentionally bringing pain to others on purpose, he’s just being jabby with anything good in his life that he feels like he no longer deserves ... like love, friendship, loyalty.

Abby is pure to the core, so watching her work her magic on Loki in such a sassy way is satisfying. She knows he needs an outlet for his pain, and she’s willing to be that ... in more ways than one.

I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone who enjoys a gritty MC filled with good along with the occasional evil mixed in with a strong brotherhood and a growing amount of love.

Loki's Luck by Monique Moreau is an MC romance. It's the third book of the Demon Squad series and it's about Loki and Abby.

It's a well-written book with a nice simple plot that packs a lot of steamy romance. This one is based on BDSM as well but it's
lighter than the second book. Here is more about control and the love scenes are more erotic. The fact that the characters had
an instant and strong chemistry helped a lot. The drama is minimum and it's after a serious scene.
This story delves into Loki's past and current life, we learn about his fears and
we see a positive gradual change. Abby's past was painful as well which bonded them.

Both characters were amazing. Loki appeared as a big jerk but he was also like a gentle giant towards the survivors. With Abby,
we saw his dominant side, and his stallion moves. Abby is my favorite character so far, she was a tiny fairy always positive and
helpful. She was also a hidden sexy kitten with claws.

In conclusion, Loki's Luck is a great book perfect for MC lovers since it has love, sex, and MC issues. I loved it and I will
rate it with 4.5 stars. The epilogue was amazing!!!

Wow just when you don't think Monique can top the other books in the series she does it once again. Loki has managed to abstain from women, sex, and fun of any other kind as he blames himself for his brother Chopper's death. Until the day his pixie social worker Abby walks into his class to supervise her charges taking Loki's self-defense class. She tries to fix him as they are kindred spirits having both lost someone early in their life. They start getting hot and heavy until one day they have a big fight when Abby tries to confront him to accept his brother's death and it's not his fault. Unable to make him see sense Abby walks out on him swearing off him forever. Something happens to Abby after leaving Loki's office and he blames himself for not being the man to be protective of her and make sure she was safe. Now Loki must avenge what happened and go after their enemies who wronged his Pixie.
If you love a read with lots of hotness, angst, and power play between two determined lovers you'll love this one. I received an Arc copy for an honest review for NN Book Blog.

Great read. Loki is kind of down on life. He blames himself for the death of his younger brother and in-turn swears off all of life's pleasures. Yep, women, corousing, club parties, you name it. Instead he concentrates on helping the Demon Squad MC by managing their new gym. Something to keep him focused and grounded. The one thing he didn’t count on was the perky little social worker, Abby, in the self defense class. As for Abby, she takes one look at Loki and knows he needs her help and she’s determined to give it to him. Abby ends up giving Loki an offer he can’t refuse (no matter how hard he tries). That offer - Her - he can do whatever he wants to/with her but he has to open up and talk to her and I mean get “everything off his chest”. But what happens when Loki getting close to Abby brings trouble to her door?

Intense, Thrilling Ride that you don’t want to miss. I highly Recommend grabbing up all 3 Demon Squad books and that includes book 2 - Loki’s Luck. You won’t be sorry you did.

2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars.

When readers first met Loki in book one, there was just something about him that drew you in. He is tormented with his own demons which has translated into him going against the biker grain as he has decided to give up the women and parties that surround the club. Instead, he has made it a point to run the new gym that the club owns and teaches self defense classes as a way of doing penance. Abby is the social worker who takes pride in her charges and is sent to oversee the course that Loki is teaching; suffice it to say that Loki is less than pleased. As soon as Abby comes in contact with Loki, she knows that he is the one for her and their attraction is palpable. Abby sees Loki’s inner turmoil and makes him an offer he cannot refuse to help him open up. However, the closer Abby and Loki grow, some unwanted problems arise. Will Loki be able to protect Abby? Like its predecessors, this is one intense storyline that will have your engines pumping and throttling hard as you take the ride with these two characters. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.

I’m loving this series! It gets better with each addition! Loki is a troubled soul who blames himself for his younger brothers death. He has sworn off women, but he never counted on Abby. She starts taking self defense at his gym. She’s slowly getting under his skin, but when his enemies come after Abby will Loki be able to protect her? I absolutely loved this thrilling, intense, emotional ride! I highly recommend Loki’s Luck to everyone!

Some spanking hot and sticky sex scenes, but the characters felt like caricatures and the story lacked an engaging plot, if it had any at all. Everything felt really rushed and underdeveloped. I liked Loki and Abby, but their relationship felt a bit superficial because it went from 0 to 100 in like 2 pages. The writing was sloppy, both technically and creatively. I ususally don't gripe on about editing errors, but when they're so glaring, such as having the hero wearing 2 different pieces of clothing in the one and the same scene, it's too hard to ignore. There weren't that many editing errors I picked up on, but that one was so sloppy it was enough to pull me right out of the story cuz I was like ... wait, wasn't he just wearing shorts, how is he now wearing jeans, then suddenly back in shorts on the next page? Ugh ...

Another thing that bothered me was that the Squads' biker world felt contrived (at least the slice of it we were served in this installment), like the grittiness and banter Moreau was going for didn't quite cut it. The brothers' banter did not have me chuckling or rolling my eyes in humour like good biker books do, rather it had me cringing because it read so awkwardly. That's never a good sign in any book, but definitely not in a biker book.

This is a sub-genre of romantic fiction I like, but I like when these stories are written a tad more realistically and with that edge of darkness, rather than just as a trend an author feels she has to jump on (often without the proper writing chops and/or firsthand experience to pull off a realistic portrayal of this kind of world and characterization). Of course, I don't like the more extreme biker books with all the orgies and sharing, but a nice middle ground along the lines of Nicole James or Joanna Wylde, with some real, dangerous club business, is great.

I bought and read this book before the first in the series - which I'd gotten as a freebie - because I was drawn in by the potential of its story. The writing overall, though, was a bit of a disappointment. Not sure I'll continue with the series, but we'll see.

This is the first book I have read from Monique Moreau. I will definitely be reading more from her in the future. And I will definitely be going back to read the first 2 books in this series.

Loki is in a motorcycle club and lost his brother to suicide. Loki blames himself for his brother taking his life and has basically given up on any type of intimacy – he isn’t even allowing himself to “take care of business”. He is often rude, crude and a jerk towards those who care about him. Abby is a social worker who cares deeply about her clients. She is a ray of sunshine and full of so much positivity.

Loki ends up teaching a self defense class where Abby has several clients attending. She is worried that her clients will be intimidated by Loki, but she comes to find out he can be a gentle giant. Loki and Abby are attracted to each other which Loki is very mad at himself about. He doesn’t understand how this little “pixie” can have such a hold on him.

This story is filled with passion, action, adventure and is very intense at times. I loved the storyline and the characters were wonderful. There was times I wanted to smack Loki, but under the roughness, he turns out to be a great guy.

Loki is a member of the Demon Squad MC. He is also the owner of a gym where he teaches MMA, and self-defense. This is where he meets Abby. Abby is a social worker, who is dedicated to providing a stable environment, while giving victims back their voice. Abby has scheduled some of her clients to take a self-defense class. When Abby sees Loki, it's lust at first sight. Loki likes what he sees, but he's built up a wàll where women and sex are concerned. He specifically tells Abby it's not going to happen, but his mind is changed quickly when someone else wants her. So they go about this relationship as friends with benefits. What Loki fails to realize is, there is someone who is not happy with the club, this indirectly puts Abby on their path. I really liked this book. It was extremely sexual and passionate. Both Abby and Loki, created this push pull, bounce off of each other, that really worked. Both of them are stubborn, and have no problem telling each other off, but they always learn from their mistakes. This is a must read! Readers, you will enjoy this passionate read.

This is the 3rd boom in this amazing series and is Loki and Abby’s story. Loki is a broken man after his younger brother’s death and has committed himself to a vow of abstinence. As Loki helps to run the MC’s gym, he is roped into teaching self-defence for woman. Abby is a social worker who encourages her ladies to learn to protect themselves and she goes to the gym with them to supervise. When Loki and Abby meet the chemistry between them is explosive, and she is determined to help this broken man heal, and when she is hurt he will do whatever he has to in order to protect and keep her safe. This is a well written flawless story which is an emotional roller coaster and is an engaging and all-consuming and entertaining read. I was hooked and captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more in this amazing series which I highly recommend for all MC lovers.

Loki had done his best to protect his little brother when they were both much younger, so when his brother dies he punishes himself. Unlike most of his other brothers in the Demon Squad MC, he will not be partying, and there will be no women. Loki manages the MC's gym, and his vow will be tested when Abby walks into the gym. Abby is a Social Worker, she has dedicated her life to help those who are suffering. So when her clients sign up to take a self defense class, she makes sure to check out the instructor teaching the course. Loki is instantly drawn to the tiny pixie butting into his business, and Abby see's a gorgeous man who needs her help to heal his wounded soul.
Sizzling hot, and sexy read with well written, and intriguing characters. Wonderful book.

I really disliked Loki in the previous books in the series. He comes off like a hot head who blames Kingdom (and everyone else) for his problems, but especially the death of Chopper. The guilt ridden, crazy martyr act isn’t very attractive. So, with that all said, I wasn’t excited to read this book. Abby sounded like an interesting character, but with the way I felt about Loki I wasn’t enthused. I’m happy to report that I couldn’t have been more wrong about Loki and this story. I loved it and couldn’t put it down. This was such a hot and romantic read. It also has triggers (TW of miscarriage) and is a little dark, so readers possibly beware. The author handles sensitive topics with a lot of finesse and respect. Reading about the journey of self discovery for Loki and the development of the relationship between Abby and Loki was phenomenal.

I missed this series when it first came out. But I’m really glad that it found me. This is the third and I will definitely be going back to read the first and second. I fell in love with Loki the bad boy biker with heart, pain and control. That is until he meets his match. A little bit of a woman with a steel spine and a heart of gold. These two just need to get out of their on way. But that’s why we love reading these stories. Ms. Moreau does an excellent job fleshing out her characters and letting you inhabit their world. And even though it touches on some deep subjects you feel their emotions as your own. I think that is what makes a good author. I look forward to more in this series.

Such a great read! Loki blames himself for his baby brother’s death and so he punishes himself by swearing off of life’s pleasures, women, parties, everything. He’s now managing the MC’s new gym and then he’s put in charge of teaching a self defense class and meets Abby. Abby is a social worker and knows as soon as she sees Loki that he needs her help. Abby makes Loki an offer, he can have her however he likes, if he tells her stories about his past. Then Loki’s enemies hurt Abby, will he be able to keep her safely by his side? Read and find out for yourself, you won’t be sorry you did.

This book was kinda hard for me to get into until about a third of the way through. But after I got into it, it was hard to put down. Loki blamed himself for his brothers death. So he punished himself. Until he met Abby. She changed him in more ways than one. I loved Abby's spirit and stubbornness. She was the perfect woman for Loki. This book has tons of sexy scenes and tons of love and friendship. A pretty good book over all!

I enjoyed the story and almost all of the characters. If I had a criticism it was that Loki was an absolute caveman in so many ways. Also, as much as I love me a sexy book I found I was skimming some of the hot scenes as there were just too many of them and I wanted to get back to the story which was engaging.

Its finding that right person. We can get in a funk a punish ourselves for things that were out of our control. And sometimes you need to find that one person that will get you to move on and out of that funk. Even if it takes a tremendous loss in the process for you to realize it!
