She crossed the galaxy to save her family…and found her alien soulmate.
Hope—who puts everyone’s happiness ahead of her own—takes a job in the Zimanthi mines to keep her family safe. She keeps her head down, works hard, and avoids the big, blue alien in charge. She doesn’t need any trouble, and the handsome warrior who undresses her with his eyes is definitely trouble.
Haikon is a slave to tradition. Like all Pheons, he distrusts outsiders and keeps to himself. Then Hope steps off the transport shuttle. He’s duty-bound to accept the mate chosen for him by the elders, but the lovely Earth woman has him questioning the old ways.
Alien raiders attack the mines and send Hope and Haikon on the run. The attraction between them threatens to ignite as they cross the scorching desert, but they’re plagued by doubts.
Luna Kingsley writes steamy sci-fi and paranormal romance. She loves a happy ending more than chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream on top! When she's not writing she's attempting to keep up with her two active boys on all of their adventures. With her faithful rescue dog at her side, she's dreaming up "out of this world" romances with sexy aliens who are irresistible.
This is one of those "alien" books that the alien is physically just a blue human. Who doesn't know what a dog or an ocean is but knows what an XXL condom is right away.... The world building is okay, the pacing is quiet odd and doesn't really bring you into the story. I didn't feel the romance. They felt like two people who hooked up for convenience and then were maybe in love. This author pair can certainly write situations and world's that are new and interesting but this one felt rushed and incomplete to me.
Personal preference not affecting rating: I don't enjoy insecure Heros, which this one is, constantly worried what others think, his family, his subordinates, etc. The heroine is in charge with all the sexy times and all are in her POV, I know her "I missed sex, this is my favourite part of sex, etc" is supposed to be an empowering change from the timid virgin, but it made the first sex scene come across to me like I was reading a one night stand with a good orgasm and not a romantic connection. I generally prefer a more dominant Hero in the bedroom (unless it's a domme book 😉) and one that a stronger leader and personality out of it.
It started very well but it suddenly became dull and silly. The language was too much like human so other than the fact that he was blue it felt like they were just two regular humans chatting and falling in love. The heroine was strong but the big blue guy was an insecure alien, seeking oltoo much approval from his parents and subordinates not something you'll expect from an Alien living in another planet.
What I adored about this romance was its focus on average, middle-class folk. Both Hope and Haikon are people working in a dangerous mine because it’s the only way they can move forward financially and societally on both their worlds. What a breath of fresh air it was to read an SF romance that didn’t involve princes, royalty, super rich aliens, and the like!
What elevates this book to five-star status is that both protagonists make logical decisions throughout this book. His is full of action, drama, and tension that results from the world Kingsley has built, and for once the characters do things that make sense instead of being foolish because the plot requires it to build tension. I was gripped by the drama through this read.
So are you looking for something different in SF romance? Then this wonderful read is definitely the book for you!
Hope shielded her eyes as she looked out over the Zimanthi desert for signs of life. All she could see was sand. Kendra is convinced they were dropped at the wrong coordinates. But Hope figures their hosts are just running late for some reason. The women were all here to work in the mines for a year. Their pay would be sent to their bank account back on Earth and it would take care of her family. The women are all startled as a huge set of doors come up out of the sand and open. Haikon steps out and realizes he has made a mistake hiring Earth women to harvest the vocrium. These small creatures are too frail and probably won’t last as long as their contract specifies. But Haikon is attracted to the one named Hope who seems to be a sort of leader for the women. Hopefully his attraction will dull with time. But it doesn’t.
Haikon’s second-in-command, Khuvrul, Looks at the women with contempt. Yet the women learn fast and production has increased. Settlements on their home planet of Pheon have grown and everyone is demanding more energy which the vocrium provides. News of the success here will reach his planet with their next increased delivery. When Khuvral called the women lazy, Hope’s work partner Evrax immediately spoke up in their defense, claiming they are mining twice the amount since the women arrived. Hope hums while she sings and Evrax enjoys it. She asks him about Pheon and what it was like and learns that mates are selected for them by the elders. She figures she can stop hoping that Haikon will want her.
When alien raiders attack the mines, the miners, including Hope and Haikon, are forced to the surface to run for safety. The powerful attraction already flaring between Hope and Haikon is more difficult to ignore now. Yet they have doubts about acting on them. Will they take a chance and find comfort with each other? Will they ignore their desires? Will they survive on the inhospitable desert planet?
This story line was comfortably paced and the reader got to know several of the characters better. It does draw the reader into caring about the others, both the women and the Pheons. So when danger shows up, it gets tense quickly! Grab your copy and see if everyone makes it out alive or if disaster is heading their way!
This was a pretty decent start to a new series. Haikon is a pheon they are a large muscled blue skinned people with a lot of rigid structure and rules for society. They also don't like to mingle with other species. They have a very important mining colony on Zimanthi. It's a completely inhospitable planet but it has a mineral they mind that powers all of their homes, electronics etc.. The I my problem is because of their size they c can not mine the what they need correctly. This is where the women of Earth come in. Hope is the oldest and she is the leading lady in this novel. When level headed and pragmatic she took this crappy job to help her family survive because it pays well. They other 11 women also have their reasons for signing up for a year of their lives to work in dangerous mines. Hope is the den mother of the group and always makes sure the others are taken care of. When Hope and Haikon meet the connection is quick and the attraction compelling and hot , hot, hot. They both fight it because each has obligations and responsibilities that don't include attraction of love, but care has a way of getting what she wants and she wanted these two together. Through a series of dangerous events our couple grows closer. They need to save those they care about, and decided either to live in the past or move forward together to a new better future. I enjoyed the story. It wasn't earth shattering , but it was a solid story and I plan to read the next in the series. 💖💖💖
DNF @ 30% I had to stop reading this book, I cannot stand when women are portrayed as strong willed but are actually just TSTL. They are in an alien mining facility right after one of them have an accident, the leader of the aliens responsible for the mine is telling them they need to evacuate but they decide to not listen to him and start asking questions before just following the alien men. Look, the tunnels can (and one already has) collapsed, you need to f*cking listen to the order to evacuate and make your dumb questions later. I could get over that if it was only one or two of them acting stupid due to panicking, but the whole crowd standing and waiting for answers? Not ok. The book before this scene was already a little off to me. Specially when it was clear the H was too preoccupied with other people’s opinion, even though he was the highest ranking officer there. Also, considering he was in a position of power, I expected him to not allow prejudice against the minority he was responsible for.
Cute story but it felt incomplete. Do the writers intend to tell what happened at the mine in their follow up books? I am not invested enough in the characters to read said books, sorry.
I'm on the hunt for a series similar to Ice Planet Barbarians. This is not it. It wasn't bad and it's a nice start to a series but I won't be continuing with it.
Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence.
This is the first story in what I hope is a full series about human females helping an alien race with mining operations in space. This is not an alien abduction story, but instead written from a perspective that everyone is aware of alien races and they are hired to assist with mining as it requires people of smaller stature and with ample dexterity. They are mining a material needed to power the alien’s planet, ships and tech.
The way their planet is described reminds me of certain religions or cultures centuries ago in how they are very conservative, not emotionally demonstrative, discourage anything different and believe in arranged marriages / matings. This helped give the story a message that can always be reinforced.
There are a few grammatical errors, including incorrect names, genders (she iso he, etc.) and what could be auto correct errors. I was able to determine what it should have been, but they did become more frequent as the story continued.
I've wanted to slapped Haikon in the head too many times. He found his mate and yet he was hesitant to claim her, I guess too much is at stake for him and too much of a risk. When he can no longer hold or deny his desire, it just overflows, and he had no choice but to follow his heart. He battles between honor of his family and his heart's desires, who would he choose?
Hope is a woman you would want by your side, a nurturer. She thinks of others before herself, and that's what endeared him to Haikon.
Before they can find their HEA, they have a lot to hurdle along the road to their happiness, including the aliens who have invaded their mines. It was a difficult run, but the ending is just worth it.
There were times the story were a bit slow but it soon picked up. There are also likable persons or aliens among the side characters who provided joy and conflict.

Hope is a human woman who has taken a job as a miner on a Zimanthi outpost. Haikon is the Zimanthi commander in charge of the mining outpost. Relationships between Zimanthi and aliens are frowned upon, so although Haikon and Hope feel an attraction for each other, they don’t act on it. When an attack on the outpost sends everyone running, Haikon and Hope end up struggling through the desert on their own.
This is the first in a series, so there is a cliffhanger ending as far as the background story goes, but the romance itself is complete. There is even a fabulous epilogue for our couple, with no spoilers for future couples but an enjoyable happily ever after for this one. It’s a sexy read, so if you don’t enjoy sexy scenes, you’ll want to give it a miss. On the other hand, the world building is engaging, and the secondary characters are ones you want to see what happens to!
Recommended for those who love sexy sci-fi romance and alien heroes.
Haikon and Hope’s story is filled with so much excitement, so much desire yet so much turmoil that leaves you deciphering between feelings of love, anxiety, and fear.
Haikon is head of the mines where Earth women have been recruited to help retrieve their needed fuel. He’s rough and lacks compassion towards any of the women recruited to work as he has a one track mind, get back to his homeland. Until he comes face to face with the most exotic female, Hope.
Hope will do anything to help take care of her siblings, even if it means signing a contract for a year to work in the mines. She’s always been one to help everyone around her, mainly because she is so used to taking care of her siblings, that she doesn’t know how to accept when a strikingly handsome alien begins to show interest in her.
The desire between these two is enough to cause any person with feelings go mad. The only problem, Haikon’s species has forbidden any mating with outsiders. What are they supposed to do with all these feelings building up inside them, do they act or do they let them subside? The amount of passion is overwhelmingly exciting and will keep your focus throughout.

Haikon and Hope meet at the mine on Zimanthi, where she and eleven other human woman are going to work for a year to earn money for their families back on Earth. Haikon feels a bond with Hope but it is totally against the traditions of his people and hugely frowned upon to the point of exile from the Pheon planet. Despite this, the two, during an escape to the caves, connect on a physical level. Suspense comes from every direction as the enemy keeps coming after them, some are left at the mine that could not get away in time, getting taken by the enemy during a mission and much more. Scenarios change on a dime and feelings and emotions are a roller coaster ride. So much going on, but in the end, the truth and brotherhood come through and family is still everything.

this was an interesting book. I loved Hope so much. She is clearly the mom of the group, something I relate to as I have been that since I was a child. Maybe that connection helped me connect more to her but it was great. Haikon took warming up to. He comes from a very different society and nothing like human life. I liked the challenges they had. However, a couple of things kept this from being a 5 star for me. 1. unanswered questions. The destruction of the outpost they go over and decide on a reason but it's never actually resolved. 2. The end was wrapped up a bit too quickly. I mean it was this unsurmountable difference, arranged marriages only, no feelings, no differences, family honor. Then it just changes. Everything is peachy and the culture that never changes and refuses to even contemplate it does. In the blink of an eye.
I loved this sci-fi romance. I couldn’t put it down and found myself impatient for the point of view to change. I loved the male point of view as it illustrated quite well his struggles coming to terms with falling in love with a human and going against the societal norms that he grew up with. The plot was fantastic and was well written. The female character was headstrong and determined; she was relatable.
I give this five out of five stars. The plot was fantastic and the characters were memorable and had great depth to them. Knowing this in the first the series I look forward to reading the next in the series and definitely more works by this author.

Luna Kingsley is a fantastic sci-fi author I loved every story that I’ve read of hers and His is no exception. Haikon has to take the mate offered to him by his elders but when Hope steps out of the shuttle and speaks for the other women Haikon knows that she is his mate but it’s forbidden so will Haikon choose his mate Hope and go against his clan and everything that he has been taught?. If you’re looking for a forbidden alien romance with action, adventure, suspense, danger, drama, passion and so much more then this is the book for you. I loved this story it’s a fantastic read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

DNF at 83%. I tried a sample and loved the concept and the buildup of the characters....and then I bought it and it all went downhill. The female lead was so back and forth in her decision to be with the H. She was digging him and then out of no where said that he wasn’t the right man? With no explanation for why. She was upset at him one night and was saying the relationship wasn’t going to work and then as soon as she saw him the next day she was saying she loved him. The chemistry was nonexistent for me and I just couldn’t believe in the romance. I had high hopes and I tried to stick it out but I just couldn’t do it.
Great fast paced story. I had a feeling about the couple in the December pre-order. Can't wait to read their story. The book was great reading , just a few minor spelling mistakes. I was most disappointed about having to wait for the next book. The action, world building, smexy, and plot were perfectly balanced. Trembling....wow. loved tthat aspect.. I am gonna read Luna's other series while I wait for book two . Starting to like alien romance almost as much as vampires. Thanks for balancing the character traits and making them relatable. New fan!
This was the first book I read about romance between blue alien men and Earth women. It will be my last. It was awful, but I felt compelled to continue to read telling myself it couldn't get worse. Yet, it did. From blue alien men putting on xxl condoms to them using the term 'Hun' towards their Earth woman/wife. The reader is flung between descriptions of soldiers and warriors to crew members, a denizet to Boss, the reader may as well be a pinball. This story is full of bad edits and continuity errors.
Hope has signed a year long contract to mine on a distant planet and send the paycheck home. She didn't count on finding one of the aliens attractive. He certainly didn't count on it either. His people are very close minded so there are some hurdles. The ending gives some closure, but we are still left with some questions that I assume will be answered in subsequent books. Also, there are a few typos, but nothing major.
A little pedestrian to start but eventually got going. I really enjoyed this impossible love story - Pheon elders chose the young peoples mates. The idea of love is foreign and frowned upon. But when Hope goes to an hospitable planet to work in the mines she is attracted the blue alien captain. He struggles with his attraction and the shame it will cause his family.
A solid okay. The alien wasn't very alien, just a large blue human. The dirty talk and and sex scenes felt a little forced, as if the writer just wanted them over with? But I liked the rest of the writing. Found a few spelling errors. But not awful. Over all I liked it, it was cute, it was nice to have a non-kiddnapped from earth story. The angst was low, which I loved. And the romance was believable, even though there was a little lust at first site. Will likely try the next in the series.
Yes, another great read in another great series. So smoothly and well written you just lose yourself in the storyline. Just what you need when self-isolating these days. I can't put into words how my kindle reader has helped me this last year and authors of the same calibre as Luna and Keira. So thank you all. Chewie
This is the first book in this series and Luna brings it. It has good character development and the world visuals are pretty spot on. Interesting story plot and very good imagery with the characters also. I enjoyed this story and will highly recommend it to all my friends.

This was a good story with lots of characters to meet making me hope there are future books ahead. The couple featured here had challenges to face with his societal expectations and her fears of opening up. The stress of an invasion is always helpful to bring others together though!

The first book in the Earth Women for Alien Warriors series a well written story with a very good storyline.
